The SRP547W supports creating both Wifi Voice and Data vlans.Can I configure a Wifi IP Phone to connect to the SRP547W Voice Wifi Vlan and have the SRP associate it with Line 1 (in lieu of a standard phone connected to the Line 1 FXO port - without additional hardware)?

I have a small voice router (1751) running CME with 2 Cisco 7940 phones. I would like to hook it up to a commercial line, but not sure how to. What specific card will I need for my voice router to connect it to the outside world (FXO right)? I see where they talk about hooking it up directly to the LAN line, another using a commercial phone system, and then the others using a PBX,ect... So confused to say the least. I assume I need an FXO port to connect to the POTS, but not sure if there is anything else I’m missing in the setup...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a pbx avaya phone system with lines and extension number.I needed a phone with line and extension.So i run the ethernet cable to the office made all connection and connected ethernet wire directly to the pbx avaya, and i got the phone working with the extension.But my question is to get the line working and the extension i have to punch down the cable from the pbx, the ethernet wire and the pair of wire coming in with the line?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with 6941 phones on a SG300.When connected Smartport assignes the native and tagged voice vlan correctly, however the phone connects to the native vlan. After running a few tests I have found it only happens when the voice vlan is also the default vlan, though this has only been tested with the default left as VL1.I can get to the phone on the native vlan, it picks up an address via dhcp, and the Operational VLAN ID is shown as 4095.Manually configuring the port as a trunk with the native and tagged voice vlans gives the same result.CDP properties for the ports show the voice vlan as correctly advertised.This happens on multiple phones/ports.The 7962 phones on the same switch work as expected.If I set the voice vlan to be something other than the default vlan 1, a vlan with dhcp available, the phone uses the configured, tagged vlan as expected and the Operational vlan shown on the phone is correct.The switch is running 1.2.7.76 I have a test setup with a number of 7900 and 6900 series phones running on a SF300 and have tested all phones as working if the voice vlan is not on the default. I have CME on Router 2800 series, and switch 2960 PoE connected to this router.On 2960 switch, there is existing 7945 IP Phone that already work properly and get IP 14.x.x.x from voice vlan 2.
Problem is when I add cisco 6921 IP Phone connect to 2960 switch, it get data vlan 10.x.x.x, not voice Vlan 14.x.x.x I have check CDP and it use CDP v2

With same config and condition on port 2960, why the IP Phone 6921 can't get voice vlan 14.x.x.x, whereas IP Phone 7945 can get voice vlan 14.x.x.x
As per the title, I just require 3 to 4 VLANS with inter-VLAN communication enabled.
In the past I have used this router with each port of the internal switch set to a different VLAN, with each in turn hooked up to an unmanaged switch. This has work fine for me but I want to dip my toe in the world of .1q VLANS and gain some added flexibility and neatness.
I usually use the router supplied by my ISP in one room in the house which is where I use all my.computer stuff as I am the only one who uses the internet in our house. However, my sister is round at the moment and the crap router cannot reach her room or the lounge.I thought I would be able to connect a spare router to a phone line port in the lounge with the correct settings along with the original router. However, if one router works, the other stops working. Only.one router will connect to the ISP at any time, I want both to so that we can all use the internet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've seen loads of people connecting 2 routers, but they're usually connecting the routers together (as in connecting 1 router to another, which is connected to both the internet and the PC) to boost the performance of the current router, or connect more devices. What seems to be hard to find is what I want to do.
The situation is, I have a Sky Broadband Router (a specialised Sagem router from Sky Broadband ISP) in the back room of my house, and it's wireless range can't reach the front room of my house (where I want to use my wireless laptop). Moving the router is not an option, so I purchased a Belkin 300N Router and plugged it into another phone socket at the front of the house (the phone line was originally just at the front of the house, but was extended to another socket at the back of the house, the one the Sky Router is connected to).
The router is working, but seems to be clashing with the Sky Router, it can't connect unless I turn the Sky Router off, and the Sky router always overrides the Belkin one. I've seen some posts about syncing routers when they're connected, but these aren't, they're just on the same phone line, how to stop them clashing?
I got told if I changed the IP address of the Belkin Router to one similar to the Sky one, and disabled DCHP it would work, but this just messed the Belkin Router up and I had to give it a factory reset!
iam having two PC's which are not connected through LAN. in our office we are having a private telephone network and both the locations are connected with this telephone network (MAX) connection. Is it possible to connect the both PCs through remote desktop connection through this telephone network we are having ?. we are provided with internet conncetion for one PC.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have set up 2 DHCP pools and 2 VLANs (1 *the native* for data / 1 VLAN for voice). When I use the command "switchport voice vlan 20" the port disapear from the show vlan brief list. When I use the "switchport access vlan 20" it shows up in the show vlan brief in the correct VLAN and gives the phone an IP. I assume that using the access instead of the voice is wrong and the phones would not configure correctly. But when I use the access the phone goes to the next step and tells me the TFTP files are not found. Why does the port disapear from the VLAN list?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a high school wireless environment that was installed approximately 5 years ago with 1242AG APs. The install was done based on 2.4GHz coverage everywhere, not for 5GHz or for good density. The high school uses wireless cisco 7921G phones for all the staff and teachers. The issue we're running into is over the last couple years more and more students are bringing in iPhones and android phones that can connect to the public wireless ssid. And with the increase of these wireless devices in the classroom, we've been experiencing more and more call dropped on the wireless phones. I have collected information on number of clients on specific APs that are in the area of most of the dropped calls. At times some of these APs have a total of 40 clients associated to them, over half of which are on the public ssid. I have thought about putting all the phones on to the 5GHz radios, but the implementation of the wireless was only for 2.4GHz coverage, so we have coverage gaps on the 5GHz network. We're thinking about adding more APs but the budget isn't available yet for that, so we're looking at what we can do to make this better for the time being.
Main questions are:
Is there a best practices number of max clients per AP in a wireless voice network?
Are there any other options for preventing dropped calls on the wireless?
I should mention I have already looked over the VoWLAN Troubleshooting Checklist at the link below and made the necessary changes to assure we are following the items on the checklist as close as possible.URL
We have a UC500 with 3 access points AP541N. We need to move around the building so we use wireless voice with 7925G phones. All works fine except when the phone needs to change from one AP to another. We lost connection for a small interval of time and then resume normal operation.

In a house that is too large for a small wireless modem to send a signal far enough, is it possible to use a second modem in the same phone line (not at the same time). Filters are used in the spare phone jacks.My main question is: when modem A is being used and modem B is switched off, is it necessary for the splitter for modem B to be removed and the filter put in its place? Or is the fact that modem B is switched off sufficient? I suspect that it's necessary and that's why my friend gets very slow download speeds even when the other modem is off.She insists that it used to work but I think she was just lucky if it used to work.

I did some checking around and look at my modem and the DSL light refuses to light up.I disconnect the phone and modem separator and plug the modem in directly to the phone line. Still no DSL connection.When i connect the phone directly to the phone line (and when it goes through the seperator) it still works, but i hear strong grainy static through the phone.

But the wiress devides connected to the SRP loose connectivity even though it shows that the wifi connection is connected. I am running on the latest firmware. this problem has started occcuring only recently
