Cisco Routers :: Setting Up WET200 With WRVA4400N

May 23, 2012

I have a Linksys WRVA4400N router in my home office that I access my internet with throughout my house. I also have a Linksys WET200 Bridge that I want to use but can’t get them configured together. The Tech support folks keep shifting me back and forth and I’m about the throw my hands in the air. I get to the Advance Configuration setup for the WET200 and when I place the configuration URL 192.168.1.226 I get nothing. I can get to my router adjustments just unsure how to get the WET200 setting entered.

Cisco Wireless :: WET200 To WET200 Bridge / WEP Only?

Mar 4, 2011

I've just purchased 2 WET200 wireless bridges for our organisation, with the intention of using them to create a wireless bridge between 2 buildings.I've followed this guide here: url...and I'm unable to configure any kind of security other than WEP. More disconcertingly, the foot of that guide states:WET200 only supports WEP for the Wireless Security."Surely this can't be the case? All the marketing blurb states clearly that the WET200 supports WPA2, and I would have thought WPA2 was a given for any wireless product sold today, especially a business grade product. Have I misunderstood what this device can do?

Cisco Wireless :: WET200 And WAP4410N And WPA Connection

Feb 9, 2011

after reading the many issues reported here about the WET200's WPA abilities (or lack thereof), I doubt that there will be an easy solution to the issue I'm having, but it's worth a try.The setup consists of a WET200 that should bridge two devices in a remote room to our main network. The AP is a WAP4410N, which works beautifully with all other connected devices. The WAP4410N is set up in 'WPA2-Personal Mixed' mode, and only b/g (as n was giving other, unrelated trouble). The WET200 sees the network just fine, is able to connect and receives an IP from the DHCP server. The devices behind the bridge also have connectivity - all well so far. However, at a certain point in time, which i _believe_ to coincide with the key renewal on the AP, the bridge loses the connection to the AP, even though it reports its WLAN status on the web interface (via LAN) as connected. The AP's log shows the following (MAC address is the WLAN interface on the WET200).

Cisco Wireless :: WET200 FreeRadius EAP-TLS Authentication?

Feb 29, 2012

I have a new WET200 wireless bridge and cannot authenticate to our WPA2 EAP-TLS freeradius server. Here are the steps that I have taken so far:

1. Renamed my pkcs12 client certificate to .pfx extension and imported it into the WET200.

2. Used the client certificate import password as the "Private Key Password"

3. Typed in the client "Login Name"

The freeradius server recognizes the WET200 with the entered credentials but will not authenticate. The freeradius debug log gives the following error:

WARNING: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WARNING: !! EAP session for state 0x3e833be03884222b... did not finish!
WARNING: !! Please read [URL]
WARNING: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Normally, with other wireless devices the CA (ceritificate authority) certificate needs to be installed to the client as well as the pkcs12 client certificate? Is there a way to place a CA and client certificate into the WET200?What is the proper method to install certificates into the WET200 for FreeRadius EPA-TLS authentication?

Cisco Wireless :: Can't Access WET200 Bridge

I have tried performing a reset even by holding the reset button in for a minute. The bridge will not ping either. I do have a power light and the wireless light flashes and the Ethernet port lights function when plugged into my laptop.

The office is connected to the outside world through a MODEM (Sagemcom 2864 Connection Hub). This MODEM is also a wireless router. It's DHCP server provides addresses 192.168.2.x.The WRVS4400N's WAN port is connected to one of the LAN ports on the MODEM. It's IP address from the MODEM is 192.168.2.x. The router provides IP addresses 192.168.1.x for all devices connected to it. Setting Up Home Network With 2 Routers?

Nov 30, 2012

I recently signed up for Centurylink Prism TV and internet, they use a Cisco DDR2200 (modem+wireless router combo) which I've come to realize is only a "g" router, so I purchased a cheap Belkin N150 (which I intend to use as my main router). I've turned the wireless function off on the Cisco and have an ethernet cable running from a LAN port on the Cisco to the internet port on the Belkin.

The issue I'm having is how do I set up the IP addresses/DHCP servers for both routers? By default, the Cisco's IP address is 192.168.1.254 (I know, weird right?) with a DHCP range of 192.168.1.63 - 192.168.1.253. Whereas the Belkin's IP address is 192.168.2.1 . I guess I'm sort of at a loss on how to set this up to optimize my network.

Cisco Routers :: Setting Up IPSec Connection On RV220W?

Aug 26, 2012

We bought a RV220W in order to get a VPN in our Small Business. The RV220W will only be used to let clients connect to it and not a tunnel between another VPN box.We could use QuickVPN, but it won't be working in our case, because in order to use QuickVPN, the router wants to change its IP 10.x.y.1. Because we have multiple servers/services that are using a static IP, it would be quite painful to change the subnet. Therefore, we would like to stay on the same subnet and change it in worst case scenario only. This is why QuickVPN is not an option here.We could use SSL VPN, but most of our clients who will connect to the VPN are using Windows 7 x64. I have tried the Windows 7 x64 fix told in the latest firmware release notes, but I can't get it to work on my computer, which is a Win7 x64. It might still be broken. Many of them are not very tech-savyy, so I can't tell them to use a virtual machine to connect. We want a secure connection, therefore IPSec is better than PPTP. I've been trying to setup IPSec for the past hours but I can't get it working. At first, I wanted to use an SSL certificate, but having no luck with this, I switched to a Pre-shared Key (PSK) in order to get things simpler. Eventually I would like to use an SSL certificate, however I would like to get PSK working first to confirm that the IPSec connection is working.

I have attached with this post, screenshots of the IKE and VPN Policies. I have used the VPN Wizard in order to complete these fields. The local identifier is the WAN DynDNS FQDN. However, as for the remote FQDN, there should be none really, because clients are connecting to it, so the RV220W won't know in advance who's connecting and from where. I have read that when using the Responder type, the remote settings should not matter. Also, the PSK is 25 caracters long. After setting the RV220W up, I have set up a L2TP/IPSec VPN connection on my Windows 7. I have set up the connection to connect to the DynDNS address and set up the PSK in the Advanced settings. After I typed my IPSec username and password to connect (which was created in the IPSec users section), Windows tries to connect and times out :

Error 789 : The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer.

At the same time on the RV220W, this error shows up in the logs :

2012-08-26 23:45:24: [rv220w][IKE] ERROR:  Could not find configuration for 24.54.xx.xx[500]

I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I've read the Administration manual quite a few times and it seems that I have followed everything by the book.I have tried to enable/disable my Windows firewall, but did not get any luck. The RV220W is located at a remote office, to make sure that I can connect from the outside, before you think that I'm trying to connect to the outside, from the inside I have changed few settings in the IKE policy to try to make it work. Settings such as the Exchange Mode, because I've read that the Aggressive mode had issues. At this moment, the settings are back to default, once the wizard has been run. I'm thinking about setting a PPTP to confirm that this works, then move up to IPSec PSK, then to IPSec SSL Certificate.

Cisco Routers :: Setting Up RV180 With Verizon FiOS?

Jun 7, 2012

Looking for setting up the RV180 behind the ActionTec MI424WR-GEN2.  At the same time I want to be able to VPN into the network and be able to access objects.

Ideal setup:
Verizon ActionTec modem is primary network (192.168.1.x)
RV180 is secondary network (192.168.2.x)
VPN to 192.168.2.x network from remote locations (client-to-gateway)

I've tried asking from Cisco Support and was given the "we don't suppor that configuration" line.  They want me to put it in front of the ActionTec FiOS modem/router in which case then Verizon will provide zero support for anything. Now, to add an extra twist, I do have STBs (Set-Top Boxes) connected to the Verizon FiOS modem/router but nothing special (i.e. no DVR or any stuff like that). How to get this thing up and running so that I can have remote folks VPN into the network?  We work with data that needs to remain encrypted during transmission, hence the VPN.I have forwarded ports 443 (TCP), 60443 (TCP), 500 (UDP) and 4500 (UDP) to the WAN IP of the RV180.  Network objects behind the RV180 cannot get past the router (it's in router, not gateway mode).  The RV180 can ping objects both on the WAN and LAN side, so it seems that the RV180 is the problem child.

Cisco Routers :: Setting Up Static IP For Client Rv220W

Dec 16, 2011

Initial setup with RV220W completed without difficulty,Need to set up static IP for one of the machines in the LAN (not static IP for WAN),I presume I use the static DHCP option, which allows me to select a particular IP for the machine I select based on it's MAC,1. My confusion stems from the manual stating that "the IP address that you pick should be outside the DHCP address range specified on the Networking> LAN(local network)>IPV4(local network)page".,Does that mean that the range on the IPV4 local network page should be modified to exclude the IP address that I want to use for the static IP..e.g. change the range from 1-255 to 1-200 and then use an IP of XXX.XXX.X.201 for instanceor does that mean that as soon as I choose an IP on the Static DHCP page, that if will reserved for use only on that machine and not used for another machine on the LAN, without me having to do something else to exclude it's use (i.e. does reserving a static IP automatically remove it from the range of IPs available to other machines)If I simply set a static IP on the local machine by going to "change network adapter" settings, what's the liklihood that the router might use the same IP on another machine.

Cisco Routers :: Setting Up RV220W Behind Comcast SMC Gateway

Jun 25, 2012

I spoke with the Comcast gateway support team and they changed my SMC router to the straight gateway/bridge option. If I plug directly from my laptop to the SMC, I have internet connectivity. So I know that aspect is working. I have a Cisco RV220W router that I want to be between the internet/SMC gateway and my network. For the life of me, I cannot get the internet connectivity to pass through to the router. I've done the proper power on order numerous times. Tried variations just for the heck of it. And nothing. Am I missing a step? If I do the "wizard" on the router, it basically tells me it sees no gateway even available even though it is clearly there and plugged into the WAN port. I don't see any option in the router settings for me to specify like the DHCP server I should be reaching out (if there even is one). My understanding is I shouldn't need to as the router should just recognize it.  Should I be using a static IP instead?
