We just purchased the WRVS4400N router with high hopes. For some reason, our ISP provides a connection through L2TP Dynamic for a static IP. I repeat, L2TP Dynamic. Is there anyway to properly configure the router to use such a connection method. I only see L2TP Static, which seems to be the standard method for many routers.

I have a Snapgear 560U VPN Gateway at the main office with VPN connections to several branch offices also using Snapgear 560U. Those are no longer manufactured though, so I bought a Cisco WRVS4400N for our new office. The main office has a fixed IP but the branch office ha a dynamic one. On the Snapgear's it is very clear where I need to enter the Mandatory endpoint name on the dynamic side of the tunnel, but I can't find anything on this on the Cisco WRVS4400N. So where do I enter this information so that I can make a VPN connection between the Snapgear & Cisco boxes?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need trouble-shooting wireless network connectivity issues that arose recently:We use a Comcast modem and two WRVS4400N's as wireless routers/wireless access points.We recently got our comcast service upgraded to 100/20 and also got rid of our static ip address. As a result (I think there must be a sort of causal relationship here, but I'm not sure what it is) we can no longer connect to the internet using our wireless networks. We can connect to the wireless network, but have "No Internet Access."
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having some difficulties using RDP on the LAN of the router. I previously had a Linksys E4200 router, and I was able to RDP from my Win7 computer (192.168.1.139) to my Win2k3 server on the LAN (192.168.1.251) with no issues. However, when I replace the E4200 with the WRVS4400N, the connection will only work for a few seconds.
It is not exclusive to RDP connections on the LAN either... I get a similar error when attempting to connect to computers off site. I could see MTU's being an issue if it was over a VPN connection, but there is no VPN involved in this case.
I see a lots of problem associated with wirless connectivity with WRVS4400N, with following config
Firmware version - Firmware Version: V1.1.13
Wireless connectivity - G/N Mixed
Auth - WPA2 AES
Everything else default and AUTO,
Problem:The end devices suddenly drop connection. Wired connection works just fine. The DROPPED device can not be reconnected. On MAC I get AUTH time out. I see the SSID being broadcasted from my HTC wireless analyster so radio may not be the problem. I changed to set the speed to G only or N only but not avail. ONLY way to recover from this is rebooting the router.
I have a Cisco WRVS4400N on the latest firmware and I have just had my Virgin internet connection upgraded to the 100Mb. Once i thought it was upgraded i checked with a broadband speed test and it came back as 15Mb download and 5Mb upload. Before i rang Virgin i thought i'd check with a direct connection from my pc straight to the modem. Ran the speed test and it came back as 100Mb download and 5Mb upload. I thought the best thing to do is restore my settings back to factory and its still the same.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet and have bee trying to connect to my WRVS4400N router with VPN through the "on board" software as well as with the Any Connect software from Cisco. I have no issues at the moment using Quick VPN from my laptop.
When using the Any Connect software I receive the following messages:
Security warning: untrusted certificate
AnyConnect cannot verify the identity of <IP address>. Would you like to continue anyway?
- Certificate does not match the server name.
- Certificate is from an untrusted source.
- Certificate is not identified for this purpose
[Accept] [Details] [Cancel]
If I select accept, the following error is received:
"Error: Connection attempt has failed due to server communication errors. Please retry the connection".
I have tried setting up the on board VPN with the Samsug Galaxy but every attempt has resulted in a time-out of the connection.
For eight months we have not had any problems with our new WRVS4400N (V2.0.2.1) connected to a Verizon/Westell 6500 to provide DSL internet for our network with DHCP on our server... No changes have been made to the router or modem since initial setup; but, then it started -- Our internet connection would drop intermittently. Sometimes every 5 or 10 minutes - sometimes every hour. Verizon has tested the lines which came up ok, then they sent a tech who changed the wire pair coming into the building for the DSL line and retested the lines which again came up ok, then they provided us with a new modem (now a Verizon/Westell 7500). After all that, the DSL still connects then disconnects intermittently. I am now wondering if the issue lies with the WRVS4400N.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup a L2TP over IPSEC vpn connection on a PIX 501 that will use key sharing. In addition, I have a PPTP connection setup which allows connectivity. Two things, the L2TP vpn client I am using does not connect and times out. The second is that the PPTP client I use does connect, but cannot ping any resources on the network.

i am now trying to configure a Cisco Small Business Pro SRP 521w router for a branch office, i am trying to get the router to connect to a L2TP VPN server inside my datacenter, but seems to me like L2TP VPN client function is not supported inside the SRP 521w router.
Can Cisco implement L2TP VPN client into the firmware for the SRP 521w router in the future ?

We are using SRP527 routers with PPPoE ADSL connections. From the SRP527 we create an IPSec tunnel to our core routers (Cisco ASR). We are wanting to change the IPSec tunnels to L2TP, and I need to know if this can be done from the SRP527. I cannot find any L2TP configuration options in the setup options.Can the SRP527W act as an L2TP tunnel initiator over the ADSL PPPoE interface?

When I add a sub interface to it I am unable to see the 'Connection Type' drop down like I can see on a WAN2 ethernet sub interface. I have followed the instructions on page 29 provided here: how I can get a a site to site vpn set up on this router using either PPTP or L2TP over the ADSL interface.

So, I try to enter mydomain.no-ip.org OR mydomain.no-ip.com in the dynamic dns settings, under Host and Domain Name, but when saving the settings it says
'The hostname specified does not exist in this user account' ,which seems to indicate that it manages to login to the update service but gets a negative reply.Is it possible to use the RV220W with no-ip.org/com?
I just switched from a Linksys Router to the RV215W, I was able to put custom dns servers for my wan, ie. opendns, but now in cisco, I'm missing this feature.

Right out of the box, the WRVS4400N [firmware v2.0.1.3] I just purchased says the WAN interface is DOWN; and it simply will not obtain an IP address from the Arris TM602G cable modem it is attached to. Internet still runs great on the old WRT54G. Is this WRVS4400 DOA? Or is there some arcane setting the quickstart guide overlooks? OR?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'll just use the 4400n to provide DHCP to my two VLANs and then a new problem cropped up. I am unable to add a default route to the 4400n's DHCP server. It uses the 4400n's vlan IP as the default route. What I'm trying to ultimately achieve is to configure the 4400n as an access point for our "private" network on vlan1 and also "guest" access to the internet on vlan2.

All of our machines are Macs so I have been using the directions described in "How to create an IP Sec tunnel for MAC Clients, A QVPN alternative" but I still can't get it to work. My setup is as follows:
The office is connected to the outside world through a MODEM (Sagemcom 2864 Connection Hub). This MODEM is also a wireless router. It's DHCP server provides addresses 192.168.2.x.The WRVS4400N's WAN port is connected to one of the LAN ports on the MODEM. It's IP address from the MODEM is 192.168.2.x. The WRVS4400N provides addresses 192.168.21.x to devices connected to it.We have a DynDNS account and are using the DDNS client on the WRVS4400N router to connect to it.At home, we have a DIR-655 router with IP Sec Passthru enabled. The router provides IP addresses 192.168.1.x for all devices connected to it. I am fairly sure there are no issues with the router setup at home since I am able to VPN into the office of my full-time job without any problems. I have tried just about everything I can think of but have not been able to get this to work. setting up the Local and Remote Group Settings on the WRVS4400N and the IP address settings in IP Securitas?

The router is sat behind another router/modem (Belkin) as the UK uses PPPoA and the WRVS4400n doesn't.So I set up DMZ and changed the DHCP to always allocate 10.x.x.2 on the Belkin which is the WAN side for the WRVS4400n as it is the only thing attached.I have now noticed, and I'm not sure whether it was the case before, that the DNS that the WRVS4400 is showing is the LAN address for the Belkin Modem/Router (10.x.x.1), not 192.x.x.1 for the WRVS4400n itself. I assumed setting the Static DNS 1 on the WRVS4400n would do it, but it didn't?When I connect into the network with QuickVPN, the computer names do not show even though I have selected the option in QuickVPN?

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently installed a WRVS4400N router on my home network. Prior to that I was using the wireless built into my FIOS router. I wanted something more secure so I went with the WRVS4400N. I turned off the FIOS wireless and am only using the cisco wireless.
Im having intermittent issues with the wireless. I have many things hooked up to my wireless including a HP printer and a Sonos system. Most of the time if I just open my ipad I cannot see anything else on my network including the printer. If I try to see the Sonos system can cannot, sometimes I can open the app on my iphone and then I can see it.
Sometimes I can see the printer and sometimes I cant. Sometimes when I do see it and then print to it, it will be gone before it even prints.
I don’t seem to have any issues thru the LAN connections.
Also, ive noticed that the wifi is much slower than the old FIOS box.
FYI, when I remove the cisco and fire back up the FIOS wifi I don’t have any problems at all at any time. And its much faster.
I have tried channel 6, 11 and auto. Also turned off IPC and still no change.
I have a gateway to gateway vpn (home-office) working fine for almost an year btw 2 wrvs4400n routers, This morning, the VPN tunnel was down. I clicked "Connect" from the web based interface, but it does not reconnect.
I tried setting up a new tunnel using the VPN setup wizard, but it says it can't connect to the remote router. Which is strange, since I can ping there normally.
I'm having a heck of a time connecting the WRVS4400N VPN to another WRVS4400N VPN. both of the routers have the current firmware version V2.0.2.1: Router 1 is below, and router 2 has the matching configuration with as it should be the local group being that routers local information and the remote crew set up being router ones information. the status is up on both of the routers, but I'm unable to ping the remote gateway or any device behind it.[code]
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a site-to-site VPN with an RV082 ( and an RV042). The RV042 is behind an Actiontec modem/router that has the local public IP address. So, this address is registered with dyndns so we can find it with a name.
The name is entered into the RV082 VPN Remote Group Setup as: Dynamic IP + Domain Name (FQDN) Authentication The given name for the dynamic IP is entered into Domain Name: But, in the summary, the entry for the Remote Gateway shows only the name and 0.0.0.0 for the IP address.
This same RV082 can get the same IP address from a ping of the name just fine.
I'm trying to combine dynamic and static NAT on a SR520. My dynamic NAT is specified with:ip nat inside source list 1 interface Dialer0 overload access-list 1 permit 192.168.0.0 0.0.7.255 In addition to this I want to perform static NAT for a couple of selected internal hosts. I can do this:ip nat inside source static 192.168.1.5 10.85.10.2 which works fine but means that the source address 192.168.1.5 is translated to 10.85.10.2 for all destination IPs. What I want is for the above static translation only to occur for a particular destination subnet.To accomplish this I have tried:
ip nat inside source static 192.168.1.5 10.85.10.2 route-map toOtherSite
route-map toOtherSite permit 10
match ip address 150
access-list 150 permit ip 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.10.0 0.0.0.255
But this does not appear to work. Instead it seems to render the host 192.168.1.5 unable to progress through the NAT, whether the destination subnet is 192.168.10.0/24 or not, and I can't work out what I'm doing wrong.
I'm wondering if there is a possibility to get my homepage provider's custom dynamic DNS service working on my Cisco SRP541W Router as I'd not like to be forced to sign up for either DynDNS or TZO which are available through the web frontend.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased 2 RV042's (h/w version 3) less than two months ago. I updated them to the latest firmware (v4.0.4.02-tm (Jul 4 2011 13:30:56)), did a factory reset to make sure I was working with a clean slate, set up DDNS through DynDNS and a site to site VPN between the two. Everything was working great for a month, then the DynDNS accounts expired because they weren't being updated. I reactivated the names on the DynDNS site, and started to monitor the "last updated" date and time. After 24 hours there were no updates according to the DynDNS site. I logged into one of the RV042's, and it said "Dyndns Enabled : Dynamic DNS is updated successfully." This is a stale message from 24 hours ago when I hit save. So I went into Setup | Dynamic DNS | Edit Config and there it also says "Dynamic DNS is updated successfully." I clicked "Save", status changed to " Dyndns Enabled : Updating..." for a few seconds, and then back to "Dyndns Enabled : Dynamic DNS is updated successfully". I refreshed the DynDNS website and it shows the current time (in eastern time, i'm pacfic) as the last time it was updated. So it works when I manually hit the "Save" button. Not making any changed, just hitting "Save". I've let the other RV042 go over 48 hours and it still hasn't updated. So it apears for the time being, I'll have to remember to push the "Save" button once a week to prevent my DynDNS accout from expiring. Does DDNS working in the lastest firmware and h/w version 3? If so, what is the update frequency?
