On my Accespoint i have 2 vlans: 1 for my wifi phones and 1 for my network.Wifi Lan has the SSID LAN with WPA enterprise authentication to a radius server(ms server 2008).Wifi Phone has SSID PHONE and vlan 50 with local radius authentication.This Works all fine, Except when i enable AP for my wifi phones. When AP is enabled the authentication for my lan doesn’t go to my server but local.How do I configure my accesspoints so that the cisco phones use the local radius server with AP and my windows computers connect using the ms radius server?
We have multiple Cisco Aironet 1131AG devices, all wired on one Cisco L2 switch(2560) who is connected to L3 switch (3550). We assigned one VLAN for access point in L3 switch who acts as vtp server (L2 switch is vtp client). All ap's will have static ip address and all will have same SSID and no security and they will be using multiple channels (ex. 1,6,11). They will operate in 3 floor building for roaming wireless client. We won't using any wireless controller.
How to configure APs-all the same with different ip's, can we use L3 switch to create dhcp server for access points VLAN (pool for clients, and the rest for static ip for ap's)?
I have some Cisco Aironet 1100-series, 1040 series, 1240 series, 1130 series and 1200series and i would like to upgrade them to the newest ios software.
The IOS that are present in my access points are 12.3(8)AJ and 12.3(11)JX.
I have installed/setup a cisco 2504 wireless controller and 3 aironet 1142 access points using the basic config on a windows sbs 2008 domain, the problem is that the clients that are connected to the 2504 aint getting the there ip addr from the AD but from the wireless controller, and there cant reach the clients on wifi from the clients that are connected to lan, is there anyway that i cant change this so that a client on lan can see the client on wlan and vice versa.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought 6 airo net 1041N standalone access points for a customer of mine. It's an academy of barely 200 students. I'll be installing an access point in every room, to ensure better signal, since they use video for there classes. The reason why i decided to install an access point in every room is because the walls are armed concrete and they had a terrible experience with a past company in which they spend a lot of money for a antenna system that didn't work.These access points will be connected to a switch, which I have to buy also.Every student is going to bring there own laptops in order to connect to the network.
The reason why I'm writing is because I have a few questions to clarify.
1) What is the best position for better signal, top side wall or corner ceiling?
2) How many client mac address filtering can i do per access point?
3)I plan on doing ESSID but can I mac filter clients to a particular access point or should I mac address filter all permitted devices in all access points. The problem is that students come with iPods and phones and as you know on windows they will be able to see the wpa2 key and enter it on the particular UN-authorized device.
4) Any graphic user interface for configuring these access points or do i have to use Cisco IOS(kind of familiar with it)? (I'm used to GUI)
5)How can I configure these access points, through Ethernet browser or do I have to use console port cable?
6)Do I have to use POE injector or can I connect the access points directly to the switch with PoE and QoS?
7)I was planning on buying a small business switch sg100 d-8 but they recommended me that I should use the catalyst 2960 series, which would be best for handling video data? don't have to be much features, just QoS.
8) Can CCp software be used in these access points?
we are running 43 Cisco AIR-AP1252G-A-K9 wireless access points using POE in our facility. These are connected to Cisco switches in various locations throughout the warehouse. I have read many varying opinions on this matter some say do reboot some say never. Do these access points and switches need to be reset on a routine basis to insure reliability and performance?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn our network two Domain Controllers are configured as the central (S)NTP Servers. For a switch in Layer 3 mode it is quit easy to synchronise with these (S)NTP Servers. But what is actually the best approach for access switches in layer 2 mode, that are connected to the layer 3 switch? The only IP Address they have are part of the management VLAN ID 1 which is not routable. I am actually looking for something like a broadcast without having to put a NTP Server in management vLAN.

But I am not to access shared folders. Customer has installed Window 2003 server installed and it is in VLAN 1. There are some folders created in this server and it is very important for users to have access to the folders.Also, I am not able to access shared folders in other VLANs. I have created a case with Cisco small business and I got a reply saying that the switches will not support shared folder feature, which I think is not real. I am getting a very time to implement this solution in the network. I have a Sonicwall firewall after Core switch which is connected to ISP.

I have a SG300 switch working in layer 3 mode. I created 3 VLANS and the intervlan communication is working fine. I want to know how to block acces to switch managment from the Vlans. One of the vlan is allowed to access the switch but not the others vlans. What is the best way to implement this? with ACL or with Managment Access Method, creating an access profile?

I am absolutely sure that I setup the switch in L3 mode since it allows me to create mutiple interfaces. I am hoping that this GUI issue is related to interVLAN routing.

I have a SG300 Switche working in layer 3 mode.I configured 3 VLANs on the switch, assigned all ports, given IP addresses to VLANs interfaces, etc.Now I want to implement ACL to permit or deny access between vlans and hosts.Can I apply an ACL to a whole VLAN (in or out) like Catalyst models?I mean apply the ACL to the entire vlan or the only way in this model is to implement that ACL port by port?Every time I have a new port configure to work in a Vlan I have to implement the ACL?

Recently I ran in to SG300-52 switch and even though loading same firmware doesn't give me option to do layer-3 switching. For SG-300 I see options in GUI to create vlan interfaces under IP information section, while SG300-52 has IP information option only under the management section.let me know if these are 2 different hardware types and L3 is not possible on SG300-52. If its possible to enable L3 switching on SG300-52?

We have several of the SG300 Serices switches. We use them to route VLAN traffic to Remote Offices, Internet Connections, and WiFi Access Points.In one remote office we have a SG300-10 setup to route the HQ Network and the remote Office Subnet. The SG300 is Connected to HQ via Fiber and has multiple Tagged VLANs on it. If I do speed tests over the Fiber Link on the Incoming Tagged Netwotk I get Decent performance, 80Mbs. If I switch to a networtk that is not priginating from HQ, and have the SG300-10 route packet, I get dismal performance. 15-20Mbs.
I Fireded up a New SG300-28P FW v1.2.7.76. Added a the HQ VLAN 101 and new VLAN 1025 . Mapped some Tagged and untagged ports for each. Switch was connected to HQ Network as untagged VLAN 101. I put a laptop on an Untagged VLAN 101 port. Ran some tests, cam back with 750-850Mbs. Great. Put the same laptop on a Tagged 101 Port, Configured the NIC for Tagged VLAN 101, Same test, same Speeds, 750-850Mbs.I then Configured laptop for Tagged VLAN 1025. Connected to tagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!
I then Configured laptop for Untagged VLAN 1025. Connected to unagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!It was only the Laptop and the Connection to the HQ net on the SG300-28P. Why is the performance of this unit soooooo poor when it needs to route?Other Switches have FW v1.0.0.27 or FW v1.1.2.0. They have Similar speed issues. All Configured for Layer 3.
does the SG300 switches can be used with Microsoft NLB in Multicast mode?I know on traditional Catalyst switches you can statically "map" IP's to mac's and then to multiple ports but this doesn't seem to work correctly on the SG switches - it gives an error about the mac not being not Unicast?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm going to have several SG300-28P switches to setup. I'll need to create multiple vlans for data, voice, and wireless traffic. I have the following questions in setting up this configuration:
VLAN 1 Management
VLAN 100 Data
VLAN 200 Wireless
VLAN 300 Voice
1) For managing the switches via IP, will LAN1 be the default management network? Should I create a seperate VLAN for managing the switches?
2) For uplinking the switches together, I plan to trunk a port to connect the switches together. What's the configuration on the trunk port to forward all vlans from one switch to another?
3) On some ports, I want to configure a trunk for two vlans (Data and Voice) where the phone has a pass through for PC. The phone supports tagging for the PC and the VoIP traffic. For example on port 10, would VLAN 100 and 300 be set to tagged?
I'm having alot of trouble trying to connect more that one LAG between two SG300-52 switches.Basically i have configured both switches with the same vlans. For 2 of the vlans i would like to connect them together between the two switches using LAG. Switch1 has Vlan 5 (ports 1-12) & Vlan 10 (Ports 25-36) with LAG configured on ports 1-2 and ports 25-26. I have setup the second switch identical to the first. But when i connect the LAG's there is no connectivty. If i disconnect one LAG the other starts working.Can you only have i interconnect LAG between switches?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find an effective way to extend the wireless signal across our home. I have tried various different solutions. Currently, I have an e4200 primary router that is cascaded with two additional e1500 routers that have been configured as access points. The Linksys support team hosted my computer and configured the devices. The e1500 routers are connected via ethernet wires running through the walls. And, this seems to be working well. Here's my question. The e1500 routers are configured with different SSID names, which Linksys advised was required to avoid conflicts in communications from the three router devices. Is there any way to configure this set up or something similar so that the entire wireless network has the same SSID and is seamless. In the current configuration, I have to specifically connect to the primary router or one of the two access points.

Here is my setup:
Netgear WNDR3700 - Main router, DHCP turned on
4x Netgear WNR2000 - Setup as Access Points (DHCP turned off), connected to main router via LAN ports
I only want the guest network to have internet access. I have the guest network enabled on the router and access points with the option to "Allow Guest network to access main network" disabled. My problem is that since the access points aren't hooked directly to my modem via the WAN port, the guest network broadcasted from the access points does not have internet access.I have read up on setting up a separate subnet for the guest network using DD-WRT but was curious if there was a way to get the desired result with the stock Netgear firmware.
I have a question, does the SG300-28 support VTP and STP?. I want to add it to my network's VTP domain so I don't have to manage vlans manually on the SG300-28 and also be able to configure STP to keep my network loop free.
