The embedded telnet client is OK but what about a ssh client? It could be a very useful feature for debugging remote servers or network appliances in a secure fashion.
I understand the overhead concerning the image size and CPU usage, but it seems that both the flash memory and the CPU could handle ssh client integration. Naturally, it as to be fully compatible with IPv6 in dual stack enabled environment.
I would like to know where can I find the changelog for the 1.1.2.0 firmware.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have 3 sf-300 series switches in Layer3 mode deployed in different offices. We have found that approximately every 2-3 months at all 3 locations users experience a serious reduction in bandwidth. Only after rebooting the cisco does the problem go away and we're okay for another few months. some setting/feature that may be contributing to this? We are only using several ports and 1 static route on each switch. We are not using any of the bells and whistles on the switch. 2 of the switches are using the original firmware, whereas the other is using the newest firmware. Maybe this is just what we should expect from a Small Business switch?

I am planning on connecting them to a 3560 switch. Each office will have no more than 3 - 7942 phones. I reviewed the notes on this switch and it seems it should support this phone type without any issues. Any support/reliability issues with this switch and the 7942s ?

Currently we configured the clock manually in each switch, but a reboot of the switch resets the clock also. We are planning to make a single switch as a NTP servers and others are clients to synchronise the correct time even after a reboot of the access switches.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a test setup of a C3750 stack as a core and some 2960's as access switches.[URL] - The switches at the bottom is the new network (VLANNED). The switches on the left is the current production network (10.1.1.0/24) From the C3750 to the router is a /30 network.
There will be 6 VLANs but at the moment I have one configured. VLAN50 - 10.5.1.0/24 From the C3750 I can ping my current production network, internet, other VLANs in the testsetup, ... Everything.From the C2960 I can ping other VLAN's, reach the gateway, reach the router, reacht the currenct production network. But I can't reach internet. I've configured "ip default-gateway 10.5.1.254" on the C2960. C3750 relevant config is down below.How is it that I can reach other networks connected to the router and not internet from the access switches? I'm just trying to ping 8.8.8.8.

i have a question about tunneling a software EasyVPN client to a client ASA Network. It looks like this:
EasyVPN Server 192.168.202.0/24 Network extension mode to Client EasyVPN ASA 192.168.1.0/24 This works fine in both directions. But now i want to connect the client ASA network via EasyVPN software client from outside. The user are already able to connect to the ASA Server on its static outside IP obtaining an IP from a 192.168.21.0/24 pool. This works fine. But how am i able to connect to the 192.168.1.0/24 network from this client?

Sometimes I cannot connect to internet due to "unidentified network" buy i can resolve this problem by restarting my modem + switch.
I have a setup involving 3 clustered AP541 running off a sg300 switch. The wireless network setup VAP has one entry for vlan 1 with station isolation disabled. Is there anything more I need to do to allow one wireless client to ping another wireless client - am I missing something - i assume this is possible.Needless to say wireless clients can ping non wireless clients and vice versa quite happily. Everything is running with factory default settings more or less.

Vlan 10 is the management VLAN, and it uplinks to our border router.Vlan 20 is the workstation VLAN, and all workstations point to the switch as their default GW? Vlan 30 is the ip phone VLAN, and all phones use this as their gateway.
I would like to put a LAG between said switches, we have some servers on the ip phone switch that need to be accessed by the workstation clients, and the single 100mb link through the router is probably not going to be enough.As I understand it, because the switches have different networks on them, a simple lag will not work. I did create a lag, and assign ip addresses to each side, however in that mode, it doesn't appear I can block vlan 10 from transiting the LAG, and with out that block I will end up with a logical loop, and spanning-tree will block one of the uplinks, or the LAG itself.
If I have two stackable switches were only one stackable switch has two uplinks one uplink goes to one core 6509 switch and the other uplink goes to the other 6509 core switch can a Layer 3 etherchannel be used if each uplink go to a different core switch, by the way hsrp is running between both switches and also can you give an example how data will be routed from the stackable switch through the ethernetchannel to one of the core switch accross the WAN to another core switch?

I'm setting up an SNMP poller to retrieve the ARP table (ipNetToMediaPhysAddress) from my SF300 switches. I can retrieve the table from SF300-24P and SF300-48P switches running Firmware Version 1.0.0.27, but get garbage for the MAC address when retrieving that same table on the same model switches running Firmware Version 1.1.1.8. Is there an outstanding defect on this code level? How can I retrieve the table showing the IP address to MAC address mappings?

We use them to route VLAN traffic to Remote Offices, Internet Connections, and WiFi Access Points.In one remote office we have a SG300-10 setup to route the HQ Network and the remote Office Subnet. The SG300 is Connected to HQ via Fiber and has multiple Tagged VLANs on it. If I do speed tests over the Fiber Link on the Incoming Tagged Netwotk I get Decent performance, 80Mbs. If I switch to a networtk that is not priginating from HQ, and have the SG300-10 route packet, I get dismal performance. 15-20Mbs.
I Fireded up a New SG300-28P FW v1.2.7.76. Added a the HQ VLAN 101 and new VLAN 1025 . Mapped some Tagged and untagged ports for each. Switch was connected to HQ Network as untagged VLAN 101. I put a laptop on an Untagged VLAN 101 port. Ran some tests, cam back with 750-850Mbs. Great. Put the same laptop on a Tagged 101 Port, Configured the NIC for Tagged VLAN 101, Same test, same Speeds, 750-850Mbs.I then Configured laptop for Tagged VLAN 1025. Connected to tagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!
I then Configured laptop for Untagged VLAN 1025. Connected to unagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!It was only the Laptop and the Connection to the HQ net on the SG300-28P. Why is the performance of this unit soooooo poor when it needs to route?Other Switches have FW v1.0.0.27 or FW v1.1.2.0. They have Similar speed issues. All Configured for Layer 3.
does the SG300 switches can be used with Microsoft NLB in Multicast mode?I know on traditional Catalyst switches you can statically "map" IP's to mac's and then to multiple ports but this doesn't seem to work correctly on the SG switches - it gives an error about the mac not being not Unicast?

What hardware should be used to accomplish this? A L2 switch? For example, a 12 port SFP Switch with Fiber SFP's accepting the first 12 fiber connections, then other switch with SFP for the next 12 and so on, until there is a overall capacity of 36 and having patch cables between the 3 switches?

I'm going to have several SG300-28P switches to setup. I'll need to create multiple vlans for data, voice, and wireless traffic. I have the following questions in setting up this configuration:
VLAN 1 Management
VLAN 100 Data
VLAN 200 Wireless
VLAN 300 Voice
1) For managing the switches via IP, will LAN1 be the default management network? Should I create a seperate VLAN for managing the switches?
2) For uplinking the switches together, I plan to trunk a port to connect the switches together. What's the configuration on the trunk port to forward all vlans from one switch to another?
3) On some ports, I want to configure a trunk for two vlans (Data and Voice) where the phone has a pass through for PC. The phone supports tagging for the PC and the VoIP traffic. For example on port 10, would VLAN 100 and 300 be set to tagged?
We had a SGE-2010, just purchased 2 (two) SGE-2010P. I want to stack the switches (all 3) (unless there is a better way). Not sure what is needed hardware wise, and how to physically wire the switches. Had switches years ago (diff brand) that used a special cable that connected the switches. It seems that is not the case here. For 2 of the vlans i would like to connect them together between the two switches using LAG. Switch1 has Vlan 5 (ports 1-12) & Vlan 10 (Ports 25-36) with LAG configured on ports 1-2 and ports 25-26. I have setup the second switch identical to the first. But when i connect the LAG's there is no connectivty. If i disconnect one LAG the other starts working.Can you only have i interconnect LAG between switches?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are replacing some netgear switches with the Cisco SG200. The situation is relatively straightforward. We have a series of VLAN's coming in on a trunk from a service provider for our Metro Ethernet locations. These trunks then get cross-connect to various location for connectivity. The problem we have is there are two VLAN's that need to go to the same switch which provides access to our public IP block.
I set up the two VLAN's on the SG200 with the trunk port VLAN tagging on the service provider port. Then I set up a separate port for untagging the traffic with the PVID of the respective VLANS's as follows: [code] The public switch has no VLAN's configured (it is an SG200 too). If I connect GE2 to the public switch everything works fine. When I connect GE3 to the public switch, things die. I thought this might be caused by STP although STP should not be detecting issues like this across separate VLAN's. Disabled STP, no change.The same configuration with the Netgear worked without an issue. FYI, the VLAN's cannot be changed...they are defined by the service provider in this particular case. otherwise we'd just make them the same..
I currently have two SGE2010's with a 4-port LAG configured between them. I'm looking to add another two SGE2010's and I want to add redundancy at the same time. The switches are currently in standalone mode. I don't have fiber connectors and was planning on just using copper for the uplinks.
My questions are:
- Is it possible to use stack mode in conjunction with 4-port LAG groups to create redundant 4-port links between all of the switches? The documentation says that ports 24&48 are reserved for stacking - does that mean I can't specify a LAG instead?
- If 4-port LAGs aren't possible, does that mean that these switches max out at 1Gpbs uplinks if you use stack mode?
We have 3 SG500-52 switches that are stacked and configured for layer 3 that replaced a couple of SG2010 switches a month ago. Switch units 1 and 2 are for servers and unit 3 for the workstations. The switches are connected with stacking SFP+ copper cables, 1 1M and 2 7M cables. The problems are occurring between the workstations and servers resulting in slow traffic on some links and connection failures. A repeatable failure occurs doing a backup from a PC on unit 3 to a server on unit 1 and 2 (2 port LAG). Moving the workstation to a port on unit 1 results in successful backups every time.
Initially I was able to confirm packet loss between my PC (on unit 3) and the servers using ping (ping -f -c 100000 -s 1460) of about .1%. The iperf program in udp mode also showed some packet loss and in tcp mode showed slow connections. A week ago I then upgraded the switches from v1.2.0.97 to v1.2.7.76 and rebooted. After that the ping and iperf tests show no problems although there are still slow connections to samba shares and the backups still consistently fail.
I suspect there is a problem with the stacking connections and have searched for traffic statistics on the stacking ports to look for errors but have not found anything. Doing a snmpwalk didn't reveal anything that I recognized. There are interface counters for all the ports except the stacking ports.
I have a Campus LAN setup which is layed out using Cisco SRW2024 and SGE2000 SB switches. On the LAN we are running various services. These are CCTV, VOIP(SIP), Public Address(multicasting) and Internet hotspots to various locations. I have attached a layout of the setup. A unique VLAN is setup for each of these services.The problem we have is that the PA audio is breaking up at intervals making the output distorted this is also happening for the SIP phones within the facility. Using the user guide we have tried to setup QoS on the system but we seem not to improve the services.
