Cisco Switches :: Sx300 Series Requires Reboot Every 2 Months

Nov 15, 2011

We have 3 sf-300 series switches in Layer3 mode deployed in different offices. We have found that approximately every 2-3 months at all 3 locations users experience a serious reduction in bandwidth. Only after rebooting the cisco does the problem go away and we're okay for another few months. some setting/feature that may be contributing to this? We are only using several ports and 1 static route on each switch. We are not using any of the bells and whistles on the switch. 2 of the switches are using the original firmware, whereas the other is using the newest firmware.  Maybe this is just what we should expect from a Small Business switch?

Cisco Switches :: Why Does Sx300 Series Only Displays Ping And Traceroute Results In 20ms Intervals

Dec 12, 2011

Why does the sx300 series only displays ping and traceroute results in 20ms intervals (see below)? The example in the CLI manual shows "regular" results. These 20ms intervals are not useful for troubleshooting.  This is version 1.1.0.73 on an sf300-24. [code]

Cisco Switches :: Sx300 - Ssh Client From The CLI?

Jan 14, 2012

The embedded telnet client is OK but what about a ssh client? It could be a very useful feature for debugging remote servers or network appliances in a secure fashion.

I understand the overhead concerning the image size and CPU usage, but it seems that both the flash memory and the CPU could handle ssh client integration. Naturally, it as to be fully compatible with IPv6 in dual stack enabled environment.

D-Link DCS Network Camera :: 920 - Crashes / Requires Reboot

Aug 3, 2009

Have 13 DCS-920 Every few days a few random cameras will will hang/become unresponsive at random intervals.  The cameras require that I unplug the cameras before they will respond. When the cameras are unresponsive I cannot access the camera via a web browser, the D-View Cam software, or the setup wizard. This is a problem as they are all mounted in positions requiring a ladder to access.

I have some connected via 802.11g and other hard wired over 10/100 cat-6 Ethernet cable.

Cisco :: LMS 3.2 - Reboot Requires Manual Start Of TomcatMon And Apache

Feb 24, 2012

I have taken over a couple of LMS 3.2.0 standalone servers (two different networks). When I reboot them they tend to be slow coming back up (20-30 min). I"m thinking this may be due to the fact that LMS was reinstalled on both of them as I see an old CSCOpx folder (CSCOpx_old) as well as the current one. I assume that someone reinstalled and the registry may be dirty and service dependencies may be jacked up but honestly I don't know how this works for LMS and I haven't found much good info in the user guide for common services for service dependencies or registry keys in general.

Also, one of the servers never comes up fully on reboot or restart of the daemon manager. I troubleshot this and found that Tomcatmonitor and Apache are always down after reboot/restart. Tomcatmonitor says that it was shutdown by the administor in a pdshow and Apache says that it was never started.  I have to go into the server and manually start these processes with a pdexec to get the application up.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: Cisco X2000 Drops Wireless Signal - Requires Reboot

Jul 15, 2012

I recently installed a Cisco X2000. Several PCs running Windows XP Pro connect wirelessly. Also, we have an Android device and iPhone connected to the wireless network. We have a network printer and network drive connected via wires to the router. Most of the time the router and cable modem features work well. However, every so often all devices lose wireless signal simultaneously. It is not possible to reconnect to the X2000 unless I unplug the X2000 and plug it back in. After this reboot, we can connect again. Obviously, this is quite frustrating. By the way, we get acceptable signal strength after the X2000 locks out however none of the devices (computers or phones) are able to connect.

Cisco Switches :: SG 300-10 And SF 300-08 Dropping Configuration After Reboot?

Jun 20, 2012

My company uses the SG 300-10 and SF 300-08 switches to deliver services to our customers. We have been using the upgraded firmware version 1.1.2.0. Our normal procedure is to configure the switches in house and upgrade the firmware before sending them out to the customers. The configurations are confirmed in house after the new firmware has been loaded. Recently we have had several of these switches lose the Vlan configuration that we setup. These incidents have occurred after power outages and scheduled reboots. We do not generally have to reboot our customer switches.

Problems: it requires an external device to reboot the switchall ports are shutdown while rebooting the switch

Q1 Is there a way to program the SG300 to reboot itself automatically every X hours?

Q2 Is there a way to automate the following process on the SG300 switch itself. ping a camera every 1 minutesafter three unresponsive ping, shutdown and restart the port to which the camera is connected

Cisco Switches :: SG200-26 Switch Seems Unable To Reboot

Cisco SG200-26 (not PoE model). After a power failure, at restart the switch seems unable to reboot. The power led starts blinking in green, after some seconds the connected ports start blinking as well, but the the switch reboots automatically after few more seconds.I tried to disconnect lan cables, power cord, and reset to factory by pressing and holding down the proper button for 30s and more, but no success. In the small amount of time the switch's ports seem to be powered up, clients don't receive packets, don't ping each other or the switch manage address.

Cisco Switches :: VLAN Membership Lost After Reboot SG300-20

Aug 31, 2012

I have two Cisco SG300-20 switches. Both of them are configured in L3 mode. They have several VLAN's configured.

When I reboot my switches some VLAN membership settings are lost! I have already saved the settings over and over before rebooting, and even tried to save it to the backup memory and so on. Say for example I have changed port 9 to 14 from VLAN 101 to VLAN 105. I save the configuration, reboot the switch. And then the changes are lost. This is a big problem, because servers and my iSCSI network loose connectivity. They already have the latest firmware. This issue was there three firmwares before.

This issue pop-ups when I have a power loss, or I need to reboot/shutdown them manually. It may be off-topic but I also have the feeling that the performance of the switches goes down during uptime. A reboot solves the performance issue. I don't have a performance benchmark, but I can notice it on the performance transfer rate between clients and servers.

Cisco Switches :: SG300-52 Continuous Reboot After TCP Congestion Avoidance Engaged

Mar 12, 2012

I have an SG300-52 gigabit switch that has been constantly rebooting and is effectively unusable. This started after Enabling TCP Congestion Avoidance, specifically:

-Turned on TCP CA
-Saved Running Config -> Startup Config
-Rebooted Switch

Since then the switch has been rebooting roughly every half a minute, and the management (HTTP) interface is inaccessible. In addition the factory reset (i.e. reset button for greater than 10 seconds) does not make a difference. I suspect that there is some bug with TCP CA that causes the switch to fail to start up, and that factory reset has failed to clear the startup config.

Motorola SB6121 Recurring Loss Of Cable Signal Every Day For Five Months

Aug 18, 2012

My Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3 modem is connected to a Medialink n-band router. Sometime in the morning (usually between 7am and 9am, the router loses the ability to see the modem. I can access the router's control panel, and I see 0.0.0.0 for WAN IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway. Primary and Secondary DNS server are both blank. Connection Mode is Dynamic IP.I lose the ability to access the modem's control panel directly (192.168.100.1), even though the PC I use is hardwired to the router. So, I unplug the modem, unplug the router, wait, plug in the modem, plug in the router, and everything works again.I've had more than twelve service calls. Every Charter tech looks at the line, puts in boosters, takes out boosters, replaces splitters, and seems to only look at signal. I've BEGGED Charter to let me speak to an engineer, because my suspicion is that it's something to do with the DHCP server.

I did, by the way, replace EVERYTHING.I have had 5 different modems...same problem. I have had 5 different routers...same problem, including a modem/router combo.I've tried different brands, too.I've disconnected all wifi devices from the router, and rebuilt my PC's operating system. I've even unplugged the refrigerator, because one Charter tech claimed it was "upstream noise."I've been online only a few times when the system actually goes down. What I notice in the router logs is this: [code] So at 9:34, no ranging response - T3 timeout, followed by Unicast Ranging Received Abort Response;
then the Cable Modem Reboot due to T4 timeout, and the system time goes to 1/1/1970 at midnight. No ToD.

The last piece of information: Charter installed a second modem as a "test." That was originally in the same room. A month ago they did another line from the box directly to the test modem to skip the splitter on the house. That modem shows the same problems, EXCEPT -- not perfectly in sync. I might see the same error, but the time will be a few minutes and seconds off. And sometimes I'll see the errors, but the modem won't go down.Sometimes the first modem goes down, sometimes the second. I'm accustomed to a router "healing" itself when the modem goes down.It might be off for a bit, but then will re-establish. This Medialink doesn't do that. It forces a physical restart every day. There are other outages too, and all I get from Charter is "the signal strength is good."

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Quit Working After 5 Months

Jul 24, 2011

I have been using the E4200 router with few issues for the past 5 months. I have the latest firmware installed and have 1 pc running Windows 7, a sling box device and USB storage drive connected in the rear and 7 wireless devices.

Over the past week, others in my household have been complaining of not being able to connect wireless. The other day, the connection quit for both wireless and wired connections. I thought it had something to do with my ISP (Comcast), and after I made a direct connect from my modem to my PC, the problem is the E4200. After unsuccessfully troubleshooting, I unplugged the router for a few hours.

Trying a few hours later, I was able to reconnect all connections. However, that lasted for a day and has not been able to connect. I did a reset and when going through the setup process, it says that it cannot connect to the internet. The only time I have any lights or activity on the internet port is when the router is booting up and then it goes off. The rest of the ports are working properly. Likewise, the link light on my modem shows no activity when connected to the E4200. The only connection I can make is to the browser utility.

I am now using another wireless router until I can get this resolved.
