I have a couple of SF300-24 switches. When I made needed configurations using CLI or GUI and then saved all configurations. The problem is that switches do not save configurations after reboot.
View 2 RepliesI have a number of SFE2000 10/100 24 port POE switches. They are configured and running OK. I want to be able to save the configuration and be able to load that saved configuration into another new swich in the case of a failure.
I have logged in and gone to Admin-File Management-Save Configuration. I then select the 'Backup' radio button and TFTP the configuration to my TFTP server. All works OK and I have a readable text file with the switch configuration on my TFTP server.
I want to be able to restore that saved configuration on to a new switch. I have set the new switch back to factory defaults. I go to Admin-File Management-Save Configuration. I then select the 'Upgrade' radio button and try and uploade the file into the switch. If load to 'Running Configuration' the switch shows a status of 'Copy Finished' but says 'Copy completed with errors' If load to 'Startup Configuration' the switch shows a status of 'Copy Failed' and says 'Copy completed with errors'
I am guessing I should be able to load my saved Configuration back into a switch, shouldn't I??
And yes the switches are running the same firmware 3.0.0.17

What i have: An SGE 2010 48 port switch, firmware 3.0.0.17 Firmware upgrade: In order to ensure im not having problems due to old firmware, i tried to upgrade using ros_ls1_bp_ge_bx-3020.ros in order to move to 3.0.2, when uploading the file via TFTP, the upload completes and thats it, nothing happens.Restarting the device: As part of the upgrade process, i thought i might of had to reboot, so i rebooted, and found that all my settings were wiped clean, as if a factory reset had been performed.... and add further to pain, the backup of settings that i had taken do not seem to want to re-apply.NAP support: So i have tested my NPS (radius) server with NTRadping.exe and all is good, however i cannot get the SGE2010 to talk to it.... the authenticator state in the web interface is always listed as initialising.... im not sure if this is a simple incompatibility (hence the attempt at a firmware upgrade), a tag that needs to be set on the radius side or a switch misconfig.
1) how on earth do you upgrade the firmware?
2) why are none of my settings being saved when the device reboots ?
Our company lost a switch and replaced it with a SF300-24. The other components are a Westell modem and an Amped Wireless R10000G router.
The current configuration has the Westell DLS modem going into the R10000G router, the router is the DHCP server and from there it is plugged into port 1 of the switch (DHCP is off on the switch).
So the problem is the computers on the network randomly drop off the network during the day and sometimes upon booting them up in the morning won't even see the local network. If I unplug the R10000G and then plug back in that fix's the problem for a few hours but then sooner or later the computers randomly drop off.
There is one network printer set to a static IP address. It never seems to have an issue. I have tried setting some of the computers to static but they still have connection issues at some point.
I am going to purchase SF 300 24p POE Switch and if this Switch supports the configuration via console? As i have ESW-500 Series switches and it does not support console.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy company uses the SG 300-10 and SF 300-08 switches to deliver services to our customers. We have been using the upgraded firmware version 1.1.2.0. Our normal procedure is to configure the switches in house and upgrade the firmware before sending them out to the customers. The configurations are confirmed in house after the new firmware has been loaded. Recently we have had several of these switches lose the Vlan configuration that we setup. These incidents have occurred after power outages and scheduled reboots. We do not generally have to reboot our customer switches.

But when I check my sh startup all the configuration which I did is displayed. Checked the config-registery too and its 0x2142 changed too 0x2102 still the same problem, when reloading the router all the running config is disappeared.

I can retrieve the table from SF300-24P and SF300-48P switches running Firmware Version 1.0.0.27, but get garbage for the MAC address when retrieving that same table on the same model switches running Firmware Version 1.1.1.8. Is there an outstanding defect on this code level? How can I retrieve the table showing the IP address to MAC address mappings?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 850 router that whas having problems getting an ip address via DHCP. I did some stuff on it but that didn't work, so I rebooted the router to go back to my last saved startup config. When I turned it back on and connected t othe CLI console I got the "Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialogue?" message. Thinikng I just forgot to save anything to the startup config I went through the initial set up again and made sure to save everything to the startup config. After going through the intial config and setting up a vlan to assign DHCP to clients I saved the config and rebooted, upon reboot and connecting to the CLI console I got the same "Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialogue?" message. Tryign the setup once more and making sure everything was saved to startup config I rebooted again just to make sure the changes would stick, and sure enough they didn't. Whay is the config not saving to the startup config?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running LMS3.2 and RME 4.3.1. I deployed a netconfig job to our network which consisted of approximately 800 devices.The report said that the job completed successfully however some of the devices didn't save thier running config to startup.
Is it possible to add a command or issue another netconfig job just to save the running config, so I can identify if the job fails on some devices? Using the tick box in the netconfig job doesn't seem to alert you if its not successful.
I have a 1711 Catalyst router hooked up behind a cable modem. I configured the router, copied running-config to start up-config then wrote it to memory with "write mem". I unplugged router to move it and when I plugged it back in, I had to start from scratch.
Is this normal, or should router be able to save configuration if powered down?
BTW, I'm using Putty to access router console. Is that the hot setup for Windows 7 or is there something better?
I currently am trying to program the config for a 1720 router however i cannot get the config to stick. I boot up to the command prompt put in all the configurations use the "write mem" command and then hard reset the router but when it boots back up I get the initial system configuation dialog.
I have tried booting to the rommon prompt and typing "confreg" and following the prompts keeping all options set to no except for this setting
"enable "ignore system config info"? y/n [n]: Y"
Is set to yes. but when i get to the end of the config it just loops and starts over with
"you wish to change the configuration? y/n [n]: Y"
If i choose yes it loops if I choose no it goes back to the rommon prompt.
When I try to save the configuration it displays the following error.Is it due to insufficient memory?

I have a new install with 3 SF300 switches, setup as vlan 2, the switch connected directly to the 2901 router has no problems, plug in a phone and it gets an IP, but if connected to either of the two swtiches behind the first switch, they do not get an IP. I am seeing the DHCP request hitting the router, and the router sending the IP to the phone, but it never gets the IP.

All ports are setup as trunk on vlan 2 including the ports that connect the switches together. Not sure what the problem is, but they are going live tomorrow and only have 48 out of 120 phones.
Trunk from 3500 going into SF300-8 #1 QNQTrunk from SF300-8 #1 going into trunk SF300-8 #2QNQ from SF300-08#2 going into Trunk SF300-24, All Vlans from Network 1 seem to be communicating properly between the 3550 and SF300-24 and is isolated from the Transport Network by QnQ. I am having one problem, I can not ping the SF300-24 or get to the management interface. I am able to access other devices on the SF300-24 Vlan1 from devices on the 3550 Vlan1 and vice versa.

How would I replicate the following in the SF300:

Switch(Config-if)# switchport voice vlan 5
Not sure if setting the port to an ACCESS port on VLAN 15 (i.e. 15UP) and having the Voice VLAN set to 5 is correct.
Or should the port be set to General or Trunk with 15 as the untagged VLAN and 5 as the tagged voice VLAN (i.e. 15UP, 5T)?
My ISP is providing me with 1 public IP on a /30 network and 14 public IPs on a /28 network. In this example the 10.0.0.1 is the default gw provided by my ISP and 10.0.0.2 is my SF300-08. If I setup my router to route to 10.0.0.2 as the default gw through the interface between the switch and router, can I configure the static routes in the switch to route further to 10.0.0.1?
is it possible to have these 2 networks on different VLANs and configure inter-VLAN routing? I don't want the switch accessible from the 10.0.0.2 IP.
In my network I got 3 SF300 24 p switches. I managed vlan 10 for data and it is also a native vlan and vlan 20 for voice ,1st switch is the core switch and im having a problem in connecting them ?

How to condig SF300-24 to vlan 2 vlan 3 can get IP address from DHCP server in VLan 4?
We have a mitel 3300 PBX that is our DHCP server. It feeds an old Foundry Networks switch that nobody knows the password for anymore so I can't even look in it to get some clues. What I think I know is this.
vlan1 = PC's subnet 10.0.0.X 255.255.255.0
vlan2 = phones subnet 10.1.0.X 255.255.255.0
Phones plug into the switch, PC's plug into the phone.
I am assuming this to be the case becase all the PC's get those numbers and when booting up a phone it comes up and says "vlan2 pri 5" during the DHCP discovery.
Like I said the Mitel 3300 is the DHCP server and our internet access is from the firewall's trusted port.
I have put the switch in L3 mode via the console. No matter what I try, the PC will always get IP addresses in vlan2's subnet. Even if I plug the PC directly into the switch.
I have factory reset this baby and all I have done at this point is put it back in L3 and changed the default ip address so I can get to the web GUI.
I am looking for some technical specs on the SF300 series which I can't seem to find in the 300 series data sheet: the maximum delay for traffic through the switchbuffer size for each switchportwhether or not the ports are suitable for shielded cable and connectors

After finishing all of my projects here at work, I decided to finally take a look at a sf300-08 that was left by my predecessor. I almost got into it once via browser but the UI crashed. So I downloaded the manual and proceeded to connect to the switch via rs-232. When I get to the log in screen I cant type anything in and when I try hypterterminal crashes.

I tryied unplugging unit as well as depressing the reset for longer than 30 seconds. Unit still the same.

SW1 (port GB2) --> SW2 (port GB1)
SW2 (port GB2) --> SW3 (port GB1)
SW3 (port GB2) --> SW4 (port GB1)
SW3 (port GB2) --> SW1 (port GB1) - loopback for cascade cable redundancy.
Does this sound about right?after initial use the setup will be changed to place switches 3 and 4 in a factory at which time we will then use the GBIC connectors and fibre to connect SW2 to SW3 and then SW4 back to SW1.
