I can't seem to find out what this means. Every 6 months or so, my 7204 locks up. I can't even get to it via the console port and I must reboot to access it. I noticed this alarm in my logs.( ASSERT CRITICAL PO1/0 Threshold Cross Alarm - B3) I've looked on-line but can't pinpoint it's meaning. Looks like a flapping interface but might be something else.

cisco 7204VXR (NPE-G1) processor (revision B) with 983040K/65536K bytes of memory.
I need to route a subnet from a 7204 to 2 different gateway's which are not Cisco based. I cannot use HSRP, GLBP or VRRP as the other 2 gateways don't support theses protocols. Yet they do support OSPF, RIP, and BGP.... Take note that this setup is in a ISP scenario. How can I acheive gateway redundancy?

It will be fine for 20-30 minutes and then will spike up to anywhere from 4000 to 6000 latency and give me a constant disconnect for 2-7 minutes. This connection is affecting every computer in the house as well as the playstation 3 that is connected by wi-fi. All the computers in my house are hardwired.

We have found that approximately every 2-3 months at all 3 locations users experience a serious reduction in bandwidth. Only after rebooting the cisco does the problem go away and we're okay for another few months. some setting/feature that may be contributing to this? We are only using several ports and 1 static route on each switch. We are not using any of the bells and whistles on the switch. 2 of the switches are using the original firmware, whereas the other is using the newest firmware. Maybe this is just what we should expect from a Small Business switch?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola SB6121 DOCSIS 3 modem is connected to a Medialink n-band router. Sometime in the morning (usually between 7am and 9am, the router loses the ability to see the modem. I can access the router's control panel, and I see 0.0.0.0 for WAN IP, Subnet Mask, and Gateway. Primary and Secondary DNS server are both blank. Connection Mode is Dynamic IP.I lose the ability to access the modem's control panel directly (192.168.100.1), even though the PC I use is hardwired to the router. So, I unplug the modem, unplug the router, wait, plug in the modem, plug in the router, and everything works again.I've had more than twelve service calls. Every Charter tech looks at the line, puts in boosters, takes out boosters, replaces splitters, and seems to only look at signal. I've BEGGED Charter to let me speak to an engineer, because my suspicion is that it's something to do with the DHCP server.
I did, by the way, replace EVERYTHING.I have had 5 different modems...same problem. I have had 5 different routers...same problem, including a modem/router combo.I've tried different brands, too.I've disconnected all wifi devices from the router, and rebuilt my PC's operating system. I've even unplugged the refrigerator, because one Charter tech claimed it was "upstream noise."I've been online only a few times when the system actually goes down. What I notice in the router logs is this: [code] So at 9:34, no ranging response - T3 timeout, followed by Unicast Ranging Received Abort Response;
then the Cable Modem Reboot due to T4 timeout, and the system time goes to 1/1/1970 at midnight. No ToD.
The last piece of information: Charter installed a second modem as a "test." That was originally in the same room. A month ago they did another line from the box directly to the test modem to skip the splitter on the house.That modem shows the same problems, EXCEPT -- not perfectly in sync. I might see the same error, but the time will be a few minutes and seconds off. And sometimes I'll see the errors, but the modem won't go down.Sometimes the first modem goes down, sometimes the second. I'm accustomed to a router "healing" itself when the modem goes down.It might be off for a bit, but then will re-establish. This Medialink doesn't do that. It forces a physical restart every day. There are other outages too, and all I get from Charter is "the signal strength is good."
I have been using the E4200 router with few issues for the past 5 months. I have the latest firmware installed and have 1 pc running Windows 7, a sling box device and USB storage drive connected in the rear and 7 wireless devices.
Over the past week, others in my household have been complaining of not being able to connect wireless. The other day, the connection quit for both wireless and wired connections. I thought it had something to do with my ISP (Comcast), and after I made a direct connect from my modem to my PC, the problem is the E4200. After unsuccessfully troubleshooting, I unplugged the router for a few hours.
Trying a few hours later, I was able to reconnect all connections. However, that lasted for a day and has not been able to connect. I did a reset and when going through the setup process, it says that it cannot connect to the internet. The only time I have any lights or activity on the internet port is when the router is booting up and then it goes off. The rest of the ports are working properly. Likewise, the link light on my modem shows no activity when connected to the E4200. The only connection I can make is to the browser utility.
I am now using another wireless router until I can get this resolved.
1552E Rap will "lock" up, and not allow MAPs to connect through it to join. the WLC. Rebooting the Rap will resolve the issue, but the problem comes back and some random point in the future. Prior to rebooting the Rap to fix the issue, the Rap shows as joined to the WLC, but I have noticed that the neighbor details look stale, meaning my MAPs don't show up as neighbors, but other MAPs in the area are in the neighbor list, listed by MAC address. At this time, I can not confirm whether or not the neighbor detials are changing (updating), but I can confirm that my MAPs never show up as neighbors.As soon as the RAP is rebooted, MAPs join the controller again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a cisco 7204 vxr that terminates a 300 meg ethernet circuit asn well as an mpls DS-3. CPU increases along with utilization of the ethernet circuit. When the utilization gets to around 150 Mbps on the receive, the cpu is maxed out at 100%. I am wondering if the router can support the amount of traffic coming through it. The majority of the traffic is voip using g729 codec, so packet size is small. We are no where close to peak utilization and cpu is at 39%. Here is what I see currently:

We recently changed ISPs from Verizon T1 to Comcast fiber.
The only change made in the firewall was the outside IP address, gateway and mask. No changes on the internal network or the interface.
After a power cycle everything is good from anywhere from 24-48 hours, then all traffic locks up. The interrface shows as being up but no traffic can get through until another power cycle.
I have tired different repeaters. First the WAP4410N. Especially in WDS mode it locks the router up. I have to restart it.Out of desperation I bought RE1000 that says it works with any "N" device. It also locked up after successfully configuring it.WRSV4400n v2
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I use internet applications, browsers, game clients, games, etc. the computer will completely lock up and I am required to manually reboot it. All devices stop working and the only way to get it working again is to hard reset. I'm so fed up with it, and have tried virtually everything. On top of that, I am getting only 1-9 Mbps download speed, opposed to all my other wireless devices, which are getting 34-36, which is what my wired connection is.

Also, When first installing the card, I used to get around 34 Mbps, as this started occurring just in the past week or so. It works fine in other computers though and my signal strength is showing 100%.

is 633+ seconds (approximately 10 minutes) load time normal for a Cisco 7204 router? I find that it takes forever for the router to do :Self decompressing the image". I tried the latest IOS and tried different bootloaders but it doesnt seem improve it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have point to point metro ether net link terminating on 7204VXR router.On this point to point link we are configuring GRE over ip sec. Problem is when the traffic exceeding 8mbps we started getting packet drops. from the Cisco documentation it seems the tunnel bandwidth is by default 8mbps and there is parameter like Inherit/receive but those actually not change the tunnel interface bandwidth.If we just give tunnel bandwidth with bandwidth mentioned it allows me to give option of 100mbps but again the tunnel interface bandwidth remains 8mbpos only and probably that 100mbps is useful only for routing decisions.
i am using advance security 12.4.15T12 image. Whether this is a limitation or any other way to go beyond 8mbps for the tunnel interface (7204VXR-NPEG1 processor)
I have the following equipment
1 x AIR-WLC-2106-K9 (IOS = 6.0.199.4)
4 x AIR-LAP1131G-E-K9 (IOS = 12.4(21a)JHB1)
All configued ok with 2 SSID's associated to 2 VLANS all operates as expected.However every few 2 to 12 hours the WLC crashes, locks up.Unabale to contact via telnet or browser, will not respond to ping.The LAPs remain up but the WLANS go off air etcOnly a physical restart of the WLC will bring it back.
I have an issue with ASDM 6.4(1) and ASA 8.2(1). I use Windows XP 64bits, and with Java 32 or 64 bits latest version (jre 6.025). I am able to load the ASDM, but when I click on the Configuration button to check the configuration and perform changes, it starts to parse configuration, but it freezes at 77%. It also locks my NIC, and have to restart my machine.
If I connect to a machine with another different configuration, and with version 8.0, I have no issue in contacting and changing the configuration from the same computer.
I have a dir-825 connected to Cable modem and a dap-1360 connected I have both wireless and wired clients.If get a ip address conflict and the the dir-825 connection fails from the cable modem and nothing seams to restore that connection, i reboot both route and modem and make sure no client are on. The only way i can figure out how to restore the router is to reset and reinstall from factory state.I can recreate this on 2 different router "825" with factory and updated firmware.I have removed the wireless extender form the picture and this issue has stopped, it might be the extender of a client off the extender. But everything uses DHCP so I'm not sure why ip address conflicts could cause this issue.

The data is sent in blocks (SRDF) and we are sending changes only. However, we are getting requests from compliance to further secure this connection since it is a leased line. I guess I need to know how secure SRDF traffic is and then if required, how to secure it.
Can we create a simple VPN between the two routers without having to use a VPN concentrator or Firewall? If so, what IOS would be required? How much impact will the VPN have on current bandwidth?
We are replacing a DS3 Internet connection with a 100 Mbps fastE connection from a Tier 1 Provider. I currently have a Cisco 7204VXR with 512 Mb DRAM and 128 Mb of Flash and two 10/100 ports that is connected to the DS3. I also have a 3845 with 1 Gb of DRAM and 256 Mb of Flash with two 10/100/1000 ports available.

Wireless router started randomly not allowing any wireless devices to connect to the network. A wired cable worked fine, but not wireless. So we had to unplug the router and then it would work fine.You could see the device, but not connect. We moved our wireless phone a little farther away from the router thinking it was interfering, but still no luck. It didn't matter if it was an iPod, our BluRay player, or a laptop.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy E1000 router locks up and I lose Internet connectivity until I unplug the router's power cord, wait for 10 seconds or so, then plug it back in and let it restart. This seems to be triggered (a.) when I land on a web page with intensive graphics, etc., that takes a while to load, or (b.) if I launch a web page really quickly while another one already is up. it doesn't just happen spontaneously when I'm working on the computer. This computer I'm working on is old and slow, which is why as per my earlier inquiry about having to reconfigure the router and network , I'm looking at changing to an up to date and faster model. I just updated to the latest firmware, probably a week or so ago, but the router was doing this before then and still is doing it now.

I was planning to buy 7204 VXR for my site's router for the following requirements:
- support for ATM, Serial, ISDN
- support for 3 10/100/1000 ethernet interface
- support for 2 WAN interface
However, I realized that the 7200 series will not be available for sale after September of this year!! Any "reasonable" replacement for 7204 VXR that meets the above requirements?
I have a 7204VXR Router, with Neflow. The collection for all interfaces is ok, but one interface (Gigabitethernet 1/0), is not showing the egress traffic in the pictures. The configuration has "ip route-cache flow", ip flow egress, and ip flow ingress set. But, is not showing the egress traffic.
