Apr 1, 2012i have enabled error disbled recovery with time interval of 600 seconds on my 2960 switch.
What exactly this command does? Pls explain

Oct 5, 2011I have a major problem with our core 2801 router. In summary it appears that a staff member disabled password recovery, deleted the IOS and rebooted. Net result is no Rommon and no IOS on the flash. I've read that the Conf-Reg will be reset if I remove the NVRAM but I cannot identify it on the board. If I can get to Rommon I can recover. Currently I don't have Flash reader to restore to flash.

Jan 25, 2012I am testing 2960 24 S with storm-control and Errdisable Port timer interval 60s , connected HUB on fa0/17 to make traffic / loop.After Strom Control detection the interface goes down thats ok after 60s they will try to recover the interface and going up although the loop is still there.For my understanding if the interface detect still a loop on that interface they will disable the port again for 60s and will check again. May 21, 2012I have a Cisco Catalyst 2960 series switch. When I connect another switch or a VMWare Esx server on one of the ports, the port blinks for few seconds and then goes off. When I connect a desktop or laptop or a windows server the ports stay led and I can access resources on the network. However, when connect another switch or a vmware esx server, the port is disabled.
What config in the switch can I check to make sure the ports stay on regardless when I connect a desktop / laptop, switch or vmware server?

May 20, 2013I've got a pair of N7010's in a vPC domain with some FEX's attach running NX-OS 6.0.2. I am experiencing port failures on my N7K-M132XP-12L module the port got shut down due to internal errors with Error Disabled status and I am not able to bring the port back up. I am getting the following errors when I try to reset it. I am hoping is not hardware related as my vPC peer-link is on this module and I only have a single N7K-M1 32 XP-12L in each N7010. Replacing the module will be painful. [code]

Feb 22, 2013I have a switch connect to 2 backbone(BB).
Now i saw the lights when connect to BB1 is not light but i do not know which command will show the root cause or troubleshooting.
I want to know its caused by hardware, physical port or whatever. Any on can sharing the experiences how to show and troubleshooting this issue?
I also checked the connection and port 1g is fine. Show tech-support is alread here.

I am able to ping to switch from my laptop, connectivity is fine, tftp server is running
Current Image on Switch --> C2960-LANBASE-MZ.122-25.SEE3.bin --> trying to upgrade to --> c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-53.SE2
I am getting below error when trying to upgarde IOS:

Aug 1, 2012I am looking to simply monitor Port-Security , Error-Disable and HSRP. I would like to receive an email when any of these are triggered.
Port Security - Port Is shut down
Err-Disable - Port goes into err-disable state (securedown)
HSRP - When HSRP standyby changes are detected
I need to receive emails with any of the able are triggered. What is the easiest way to do this? I know SNMP is the main option but I have never worked with SNMP and dont understand it too much.

It does say that password recovery is disabled on the router. After this message router proceed with normal boot process. How to break the password ? Even if I loose the configuration.

I had lost this USB cable -> serial but I found another one. So I started to configure my Cisco by copying from an existing config. I found out that a prior the converter is defective and copy the wrong config.

Jan 1, 2012I can see the console on the router. (Using the USB console connected to a Macintosh.) I was configuring the router though this console connection, and I created a new user (priv level 15) and removed the default 'cisco' user. So I'm stuck at the username/password login prompt now.
I decided to do the password recovery procedure (via the cisco doc I found etc), but I cannot break into ROMMON during the boot process. I'm not sure if that's because my Mac isn't sending the break, or what.
The pw recovery doc says you can "remove flash" if you can't break into the boot sequence. However, I cannot find any instructions on how to remove the flash. I've opened the router, and I see one very small daughter card on the main board that I think is the flash, but I'm not about to start arbitrarly prying parts off.

Jul 10, 2012I have a pair of 3560's configured with dot1q trunks between them carrying a number of VLANs.
Once deployed there will be a requirement for these physical trunks to be disconnected from time to time. Knowing that this is inevitable I am trying to minimise the period of time for the trunks to recover once the physical connectivity is reinstated.
All of the VLANs on the switches are configured for Spanning Tree Rapid PVST. Current time for the trunks/VLANs to come up is around the 4 second mark.
