I had to format flash and recover. I did the quicker way by using set BAUD 115200...once the .bin was across I forgot to set the baud back to 9600. I have followed instructions: go back to switch: set BAUD 9600 then reset. also tried the unset command. problem is it always comes back up with a BAUD of 115200. CWill I have to label 1 switch as 115200?

I will like to set auto baud for the SG500. By default its 115200bps.
I had tried the following methods:
1) switch xxxxx (config)# line console
switch xxxxx (config-line)# autobaud
--------------------> my terminal hangs and print out rubbish
2) Using http Administrator ->Console setting ( i cannot find the link with console setting)
The question is: Will a 3750 switch route Jumbo frame sizes (e.g. 9000 MTU)?
We know that we can change the System MTU to 9000, and someone on a previous thread said that we can change the Routing MTU to 9000 as well, although I couldn't figure out how to do that. However, regardless of how we configure the System MTU and Routing MTU, I don't think we're able to adjust the MTU on L3 VLAN interfaces, so if we want to actually "route" between VLANs on the switch, we're limited to 1500 MTU.
Our situation is that we have a customer connecting to our 3750 switch, and this customer wants to use Jumbo frames. The customer connects to our 3750 switch via their own VLAN, with their own L3 VLAN interface configured on the switch. The customer will point their traffic towards the L3 VLAN interface, then we want to route them onto another VLAN, via a different L3 VLAN interface, before forwarding their traffic. Because of the limitations noted above, specificially regarding the routing between these VLANs via L3 interfaces, I do not think we'll be able to support 9000 MTU frames on this 3750 switch. I think the L3 VLAN interfaces will limit us to 1500 MTU, regardless of what we configured via the global System MTU and Routing MTU settings.
I have a contained environment where I just want my servers all to have the same time. I want them to pull that time from my 3750. What do I have to enable on the 3750 to be the NTP clock source.
Keep in mind that the 3750 will not be getting the source from anywhere else, just my "set clock" command.
I was configuring link aggregation between a Cisco3750 and Cisco SG200 and the switched network went down just a few minutes after the port channel came on.I rebooted the SG200 and all hosts came back up for a minute before I lost them again. The etherchannel was between two trunking ports. I never set link aggregation on the SG200, could that be the reason? All machines are connected to the SG200. The 3750 is only being used as a layer 3 device for inter vlan traffic.

View 8 Replies View RelatedHaving trouble resetting the baud rate to 9600 on a 3750-E. Basically the device cannot be set to anything other than 115200 baud rate. I have changed this via startup-config (which lost connection) reconnected and saved config but after reload was back to 115200. Tried via bootloader to 'set 9600' but the termial program paused for a bit then the switch prompt returned. Tried the same to 'unset baud' but the same thing as above happened. I have erased and reloaded flash etc

When connecting via console cable i can't see anything (except some strange hieroglyphics) when starting. I tried all the speeds in teraterm... without success.what can i do, to recover the switch back?
View 8 Replies View RelatedOne of the ports on the 3750 stack was configured for VLAN121. It was changed to VLAN40 and the configuration saved. Both VLANs exist in the switch configuration. As soon as a host was connected (in this case, a label printer) the port VLAN reverted back to VLAN121.

I can get the switch to bypass the config and come with the switch: prompt, but can not do anything more. I am trying the password recovery guide, but cant get to the text file to rename. I was configuring the router though this console connection, and I created a new user (priv level 15) and removed the default 'cisco' user. So I'm stuck at the username/password login prompt now.
I decided to do the password recovery procedure (via the cisco doc I found etc), but I cannot break into ROMMON during the boot process. I'm not sure if that's because my Mac isn't sending the break, or what.
The pw recovery doc says you can "remove flash" if you can't break into the boot sequence. However, I cannot find any instructions on how to remove the flash. I've opened the router, and I see one very small daughter card on the main board that I think is the flash, but I'm not about to start arbitrarly prying parts off.

Cisco's methodology for password recovery on 2900 seriews routerssays to remove the compact flash card and reboot into RMON. There is no external compact flash card on a 2901. Is there acompact flash card inside the box? Or can you use the older method of rebooting and then hitting ctl+break to boot into RMON?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a major problem with our core 2801 router. In summary it appears that a staff member disabled password recovery, deleted the IOS and rebooted. Net result is no Rommon and no IOS on the flash. I've read that the Conf-Reg will be reset if I remove the NVRAM but I cannot identify it on the board. If I can get to Rommon I can recover. Currently I don't have Flash reader to restore to flash.

Once deployed there will be a requirement for these physical trunks to be disconnected from time to time. Knowing that this is inevitable I am trying to minimise the period of time for the trunks to recover once the physical connectivity is reinstated.
All of the VLANs on the switches are configured for Spanning Tree Rapid PVST. Current time for the trunks/VLANs to come up is around the 4 second mark.
I am testing 2960 24 S with storm-control and Errdisable Port timer interval 60s , connected HUB on fa0/17 to make traffic / loop.After Strom Control detection the interface goes down thats ok after 60s they will try to recover the interface and going up although the loop is still there.For my understanding if the interface detect still a loop on that interface they will disable the port again for 60s and will check again. I have SWITCHES with CISCO 3560X boards embedded and they don't have the "mode button" taken out. So, it's a problem if there's no other way of restoring it.
Im trying to access the switch to reset the password to factory defaults (please see switch output Astrix has removed customer identifying information for security purposes.) Each time I reboot the switch and try and access the password recover mode this same output below starts and im still not able to access the recovery area of the switch

I enabled the "no service password-recovery" command on my C2960 switch. All seems to work as discribed. Only issue I have is --- which show command is used to reveal if the password-recovery feature is enabled of disabled as the command doesn't show up in the running config after you enable it ?
NOTE: The command does show up in the C2960 switch in config t mode (unlike the IOS router 2800 series), but doesn't show up in the running-config after you enable or disable it.
On the 2800 series routers (latest IOS) in config t mode the command does not show up but if you type "no service passowrd-recovery" the command function correctly and it does list it in the running configuration.
