After copying image onto both supervisors, when the command:
issu loadversion sup-bootdisk:s72033-adventerprisek9_wan-mz.122-33.SXI.bin is run we get the following error:

The advipservice image is the one running, and the adventerprise is the one we are trying to upgrade to.

Aug 7, 2012I have to upgrade a Nexus 7010 with dual Sup engines from 4.2(4) to 5.2 and am hoping it could be an ISSU. We are fine with an outage window.To upgrade from 4.2(4) to 5.2(5) I'll have to do a multi hop upgrade from 4.2(4) - 4.2(6) - 5.2(5) and each hop would take 40-60 minutes.do I spend 40-60 minutes for each hop, or just do a disruptive upgrade straight from 4.2(4) to 5.2(5)? Like I said, we are fine with an outage window.

Jan 21, 2013I need to upgrade the code on our two Nexus 5548's in order to facilitate the installation of a few FEX's, but due to the fact that seemingly all of my port-channels are in the STP DESG forwarding state, an ISSU upgrade is not possible. Everything connected directly to our 5548's are utilizing VPC's, including an HP Blade chassis, and several Netapp devices. If I follow the normal upgrade route, should I experience an outage, or should the secondary switch just continue passing traffic?

Jan 14, 2012In preparing for an upcoming upgrade of our serverswitches (N7K and N55K), I've run into a wellknown issue with ISSU and Bridge Assurance, where ISSU is not supported when, among other, BA is enabled.
My topology is quite simple (see attatched jpg). A pair of N7K's as distributionlayer switches running in vPC mode with BA between them. The N55K's are dualhomed across the two N7K's through vPC, but each N55K operate indvidually, that is vPC is not running between them. The jpg shows a simplified topology, but I have several N55K's attached.
During the deployment of this network, we enabled BA downstream towards the N55K. In hindsight, maybe I could have excluded this option, but currently it's in operation and is also hindering me in doing ISSU on my N55K's. Now, the easy solution would be to simply revert to normal span-type mode and since the N55K is running LaCP upstream towards the N7K's, we've managed to stay clear of STP's shortcomings, so I believe I'm good even without BA.
Unfortunately, I don't have sufficient equipment at my disposal to set up a lab and test the impact of disabling BA between the N7Ks and N55Ks in a running enviroment. And since our server/application enviroment is somewhat fragile (that's putting it mildly), I'm trying to come up with an educated guess as to what impact to expect, if I concurrently (or as close as a manual intervention can get) re-configure the two ends of the channel to use span-type normal. I would expect the upstream port on the N55K (channel-port) to temporarily be suspended and having to go through the usual rstp cycle on both ends before coming operational again.

Jun 19, 2012how to clear vty line? Please see below. A sh tcp <line number> shows that the TCB is waiting for TCP Process. The TCP processs TCB is waiting for is SSH. I believe because of this ssh process still running, the vty line cannot be cleared.

A. Yes, depending on which supervisor you use. The ASA Services Module supports VSS either as a single firewall or as a failover pair of firewalls, when used with the Supervisor 720-10G (VS-S720-10G-3C and VS-S720-10G-3CXL). Transparent and multi- context modes also work with the VSS in this configuration. However, though the SUP 720-3B (WS-SUP720-3B and WS-SUP720-3BXL) is supported by the ASA Services Module, it is not capable of supporting the VSS. No reference to Supervisor-2T.
Cisco Switching/Routing :: MAC Without Port Number Cat6500
Oct 30, 2012We have IP device on the farm switch(cat6500, which is an access layer siwtch), with the gateway on the core switches (Nexus7000), on the core when I do show ip arp, I found the mac.But when I do sh mac add add of that mac there is no port attached to that mac.
Since that particular vlan only resides on the cat 6500 and two cores, so I logged in to the 6500, and when I show mac- in that vlan, I didn’t find that mac addresss. Instead, I found another mac address with last 8bit are the same of that mac.
Is it some kind VIP of the mac? How so, if no port, how can the switch forward the frame? [code]

Mar 27, 2013I am having problems with IGMP and QoS on CAT6500 platform with SUP720 engine.The problem is, it seems that all IGMP packets are getting marked with DSCP 48 when sent out of the switch regardless of any input service policy. I found several articles saying that PFC QoS does not apply to IGMP packets. However in IOS 15 that should be possible, but I didn't get it to work there either. [code]

Jan 30, 2013i have a campus network with 2 core Cat6500 and multiple 4500 series distribution switches plus 2960 series access switches,we have deployed IPTV system in the network but currently 50 TVs are working through sattelite stream from streaming server Cisco's DCM 9900.we are planning to add more 300 TVs in the network and i am wondering that when all of them will be deployed then what will happen for switches cpu utilizations when all the Tvs will be running on the same time with different different channels.

Aug 30, 2012we have two core swiches 6506 and around 55 cat 3550 switches. currently we are on the process of replacing the cat 3550 switches to 3750 switches.We need 10/1000/1000 speed, ip base image with upgrade options. Our up links from cat 3550s(sfps) are single mode and dual mode fiber mode with 1 gbps ports on core switch.
At present we are not upgrading to 10 gb modules on core. Spread over 15 floors each floor needs 2 up links(single mode , and dual mode). since cat 3750 sfps are smaller in size existing gibics cannot be used. Looking for the best option of cat 3750 switches with 1 gb up links which can be upgraded to 10 gb later when we replace the modle on core. Requirements:
1- Cat 3750 switches 55 in no with sfps for 1 gb up link (dual mode fiber and single mode fiber)
2- stacking option
3- 10/100/1000 speed
4- ip base image upgradable to ip service image
5- ipv6 compatibaility. Network is spread over 15 floors so from each floor we need two sfp up links 1 gbps using dual mode and single mode
-6-Should be upgradable to 10 gb in future when we upgrade the core modules
Or is it better to go for 10 gb module in core as well as edge switches ? if so what should be the modules?

I am running a Sup 720-3B.From what I understand, the boot image is a recovery image (mini IOS) - should the main IOS fail.Where should this be installed, sup-bootflash:/ or bootflash:/ ?,The file is “s72033-boot-mz.122-33.SXI11.bin.”The Boot Loader. My understanding is that Bootloaders are not used in these Sups with a MSFC3? I am not sure why TBH .. but would this be the case ?Rommon can be upgraded. I don’t quite understand if there are two ROMs (SP and RP).

Apr 2, 2012I had a strange problem here after upgrading Cisco 3750X.The upgrading was going smoothly, I copied a newer IOS to the flash from another Cisco 3750X through TFTP, changed the boot image.It took a while do to the microcode upgrading, finally, it started to boot up. But when it completes the boot up, I can't see the normal login prompt, but only some strange codes. From what I can see, it seems some decoding problem, as if I plug or unplug a cable from the switch, the strange code pops up again, like in normal situation, the console tells you that the interface is going up and down.

Upgrade to image: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3.bin
However, I don't have any problem to telnet to this switch, as it has correct IP address and login configured before the upgrading. I have reboot the switch for couple of times, reconnect to the serial port still doesn't show me anything.I am wonering has any one has met this situation before? detailed message shown after the boot up. cisco WS-C3750X-48 (PowerPC405) processor (revision A0) with 262144K bytes of memory.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Upgrading Supervisor In Cat 4500?
Feb 20, 2012I have a 4510R-E chassis which currently has a single supervisor 5 installed.
We are now looking at upgrading the supervisor to a Sup6. Now the question is this, can I install the Sup6 into the redundant cpu slot and then perform a failover to get the new switch working without any noticable downtime.
I'm not sure what having a Sup V and a Sup 6 in at the same time will do to the backplane.
Otherwise I have to take the switch down and then install the card and software manually.

However, every variation I can think of is not working. The command listed above gets the most "promising" results.

I have downloaded c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.150-1.SE2.bin and I want to upgrade iOS to this image.
I have a few questions related to this:
1. Is my switch model compatible with this iOS version?
2. Do you recommend the upgrade? Does it bring some notable features?
3. Can I upgrade for free or do I need to buy some license?
4. I also want to upgrade/add the crypto image, can I add crypto for free or some license is required?
5. I have remote access to my switch via the console cable which plugged into machine1. But machine1 is connected to network via the same switch. I am accessing machine1 via SSH, and then the switch via console cable (minicom on CentOS). Is there an upgrade procedure for this kind of situation that also has some fall back (like reboot in X minutes and load the previous image) if the upgrade goes wrong?
