Cisco Switching/Routing :: Upgrading License On 24P 3750X

Jan 16, 2013

Am attempting to load a new license on a 24 Port 3750X. Was LANBase code, need to get it to IPBase. Have the license file. Have put it on the flash drive. Running "license install flash:" i get the message "%Error reading flash: (is a directory)%Error: License installation failed with error: XML parsing failed"The license installation instructions are a bit cryptic so I could be messing it up. However, every variation I can think of is not working. The command listed above gets the most "promising" results.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750X Upgrading The Firmware

Apr 2, 2012

I had a strange problem here after upgrading Cisco 3750X.The upgrading was going smoothly, I copied a newer IOS to the flash from another Cisco 3750X through TFTP, changed the boot image.It took a while do to the microcode upgrading, finally, it started to boot up. But when it completes the boot up, I can't see the normal login prompt, but only some strange codes. From what I can see, it seems some decoding problem, as if I plug or unplug a cable from the switch, the strange code pops up again, like in normal situation, the console tells you that the interface is going up and down.

The original image of the switch: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-53.SE2.bin
Upgrade to image: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3.bin

However, I don't have any problem to telnet to this switch, as it has correct IP address and login configured before the upgrading. I have reboot the switch for couple of times, reconnect to the serial port still doesn't show me anything.I am wonering has any one has met this situation before? detailed message shown after the boot up. cisco WS-C3750X-48 (PowerPC405) processor (revision A0) with 262144K bytes of memory.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: IOS License Not Enabled In New 3750x-12s-s

Oct 28, 2012

We have just received a new 3750X-12S-S to put onto our existing network but I am having a few issues getting this switch working correctly. For this post, the permenant license is not activating/applying, switch boot up gives the following errors:

*Mar  1 00:00:05.377: Read env variable - LICENSE_BOOT_LEVEL =
*Mar  1 00:00:05.972: %IOS_LICENSE_IMAGE_APPLICATION-3-FAILED: Image application receive image level as NULL.

From my understanding these switches come with the ipbase license as default, and the other switch I received (3750X-24P-S) has this license loaded with no issues.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Upgrading Firmware On Mixed 3750G And 3750X Stack

Jul 3, 2012

I've got a mixed stack as follows:

Switch 1 - 3750X-24P
Switch 2 - 3750G-24TS
Switch 3 - 3750G-24T

Running 12.2(53)SE2, IP base.  Now I tried upgrading the firmware on the entire stack to 12.2(55)SE4 and ran into this error:(Command: archive download-sw /imageonly /overwrite /allow-feature-upgrade tftp://10.20.20.13/c3750e-universalk9-tar.122-55.SE4.tar)

 Error: The image in the archive which would to used to upgade system number 2 does not support that system type.I haven't as yet removed the "3750G-24TS" switch from the stack and re-tried as yet, however, is the expectation that without the 24TS, the upgrade should work?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750X / 3750 V2 - Upgrade License

Cisco Firewall :: Upgrading License For More Context ASA 5580?

Sep 13, 2011

This is the situation I got to firewalls with failover and I need to upgrade the license so I can get more context (right now I have 5 context and I need 10) so I was looking at the procedure and I'm not sure If I need to restart the device or not. I was looking at this procedure:

Upgrading the License for a Failover using ASDM (No Reload Required) Use the following procedure using ASDM if your new license does not require you to reload. This procedure ensures that there is no downtime.

•1.       On the active unit, choose Configuration > Device Management > High Availability > Failover > Setup, and uncheck the Enable Failover check box. Now click Apply. The standby unit remains in a pseudo-standby state. Deactivating failover on the active unit prevents the standby unit from attempting to become active during the period when the licenses do not match. •

2.       Choose Configuration > Device Management > Licensing > Activation Key, and enter the new activation key that you obtained with the active unit serial number. Now click Update Activation Key.•

3.       Log into the standby unit by double-clicking its address in the Device List. If the device is not in the Device List, click Add to add the device. You might be prompted for credentials to log in.

4.       Choose Configuration > Device Management > Licensing > Activation Key, and enter the new activation key that you obtained with the standby unit serial number. Now click Update Activation Key.

5.       Log into the active unit again by double-clicking its address in the Device List. Choose Configuration > Device Management > High Availability > Failover > Setup, and re-check the Enable Failover check box.

6.       Click Apply. This completes the procedure.link: [URL]

But then I checked on the cisco web page that there are some license that need to reload I see this:

All models

#Downgrading any license (for example, going from 10 contexts to 2 contexts).#Note If a temporary license expires, and the permanent license is a downgrade, then you do not need to immediately reload the security appliance; the next time you reload, the permanent license is restored.

So I just want to know if I'm UPGRADING from 5 to 10 context the reload applies to my situation or not?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Upgrading From Cat 3550 To 3750?

Aug 30, 2012

we have   two core swiches 6506 and  around 55 cat 3550 switches. currently we are on the process of replacing   the cat 3550 switches to 3750 switches.We need 10/1000/1000  speed, ip base image with upgrade options. Our up links from cat 3550s(sfps) are  single mode and  dual mode fiber  mode with 1 gbps  ports on core switch.

At present we are not upgrading to 10 gb modules  on core. Spread over 15 floors  each floor needs  2 up links(single mode , and dual mode). since cat 3750  sfps are smaller in size existing  gibics cannot be used. Looking for the best option of cat 3750 switches with 1 gb up links which can be  upgraded to 10 gb later  when we replace the  modle on core. Requirements:

1- Cat 3750 switches 55 in no with sfps for 1 gb up link (dual mode fiber and  single mode fiber)

2- stacking option

3- 10/100/1000  speed

4- ip base image upgradable  to ip service image

5- ipv6  compatibaility. Network is spread over 15 floors so from each floor  we need two sfp  up links 1 gbps  using dual mode and single mode

-6-Should be upgradable to 10 gb  in future when we upgrade  the core modules

Or is it better to go for 10 gb module in core as well as  edge switches ? if so what should be the modules?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750X Static Routing When Running LAN Base?

Dec 27, 2012

I have a stack of 2 x 3750X switches these are running 12.2(55)SE5. I needed to add some static IP routes and found that the ‘ip routing’ command is not supported. I came across a document that stated “On switches running the LAN base feature, static routing on VLANs is supported only with Cisco IOS Release 12.2(58)SE and later.” So I have upgraded to 12.2(58)SE2, but ‘ip routing’ is still not a valid command.

The release notes state:“On the Cisco Catalyst 3560-X and 3750-X Series, it adds support for 16 static IPv4 routes in the LAN Base image.”

I have read other posts that talk about running the ‘sdm prefer routing’ command which I have done, but I am still unable to add any routes or run the ‘ip routing’ command.
