I have cisco 3750 with ipservices license and I am running with c3750e-universal-mz.122-50.SE2. And I would like to upgrade the IOS " k9" IOS. ie c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-50.SE2. Is there any license required for that ?Also any difference in the IOS upgrade procedure.

Running "license install flash:" i get the message "%Error reading flash: (is a directory)%Error: License installation failed with error: XML parsing failed"The license installation instructions are a bit cryptic so I could be messing it up. However, every variation I can think of is not working. The command listed above gets the most "promising" results.

View 2 Replies View Relatedwe have two core swiches 6506 and around 55 cat 3550 switches. currently we are on the process of replacing the cat 3550 switches to 3750 switches.We need 10/1000/1000 speed, ip base image with upgrade options. Our up links from cat 3550s(sfps) are single mode and dual mode fiber mode with 1 gbps ports on core switch.
At present we are not upgrading to 10 gb modules on core. Spread over 15 floors each floor needs 2 up links(single mode , and dual mode). since cat 3750 sfps are smaller in size existing gibics cannot be used. Looking for the best option of cat 3750 switches with 1 gb up links which can be upgraded to 10 gb later when we replace the modle on core. Requirements:
1- Cat 3750 switches 55 in no with sfps for 1 gb up link (dual mode fiber and single mode fiber)
2- stacking option
3- 10/100/1000 speed
4- ip base image upgradable to ip service image
5- ipv6 compatibaility. Network is spread over 15 floors so from each floor we need two sfp up links 1 gbps using dual mode and single mode
-6-Should be upgradable to 10 gb in future when we upgrade the core modules
Or is it better to go for 10 gb module in core as well as edge switches ? if so what should be the modules?

1.) If I remember correctly I simply tftp the IOS to the flash of each switch and then reload the master only?

I'm having some problems when upgrading the IOS of my Catalyst 3750 switch through a tftp server. I've been surfing the net and found that there seems to be a problem when the image file is larger than 16M but this is not my case.I erased the flash to be sure that there was enough memory space to upload the image but didnt work.I also tried with archive download-sw /overwrite command and using a ftp server but the problem is the always the same: [code]To make sure it was not a problem of my computer or tftp server, I tried with a different computer and with a different tftp server but the same happen. I also tried with a 3750V2 and still the same. Even when trying to backup the current IOS to my computer, I got "error writing".
Then, I have tried to do the same with a different model of switch, a WS-C3560-48PS and it works perfect.I still need to try using Xmodem but Xmodem takes ages to finalize the process.
is there a document that explains the compatibility of 3750 series that can be stacked together? for example can we stack 3750-x with 3750-v2 without the power sharing? Can we stack a L3 3750 with L2 3750 without upgrading the L2 switch IOS to ip services?

I want to turn on EIGRP functionality on my layer 3 3750 stack. I noticed I was only running an IPBASE license. When I do show license all I notice I have an evaluation of IP SERVICES image (see output below). Can I use this evaluation license? Would it be same as the full license or would it have limited functionality? Also, how do I make it the active license?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am bringing up a 3750x and a 2911 to replace a 3745 router with switchport module. I was plannng on moving all the VLAN interfaces off the 3745 onto the 3750x and turning up EIGRP. I discoved the 3750 has the LAN Base license, so I can't run eigrp off of it. My question or worry now is, will the LAN base license prevent the switch from doing interface VLAN routing between the different VLAN's configured on it or will I have keep all the VLAN interfaces on the new router and just have a router on a stick setup?

I did so by getting the temporary upgrade license from LAN Base to IP Services; I added the switch no problem. I now have the permanent license and I was wondering if I could install the permanent license without having to remove the switch from the stack. I tried a license install but that failed. The switch is not currently the master but I figured I might promote it and then try the install.

The project has only just started and involves upgrading sections of CAT3 cabling to CAT6, replacing Cisco 3550 switches in one area of the building with Cisco 4507 switches and upgrading our Core switches with Cisco Nexus 7010's. The area that concerns me most is enabling the network for qos as I have very little experience with it. At the moment Im trying to read as much documentation as I can on QOS to bring myself up to speed.
The access layer switches will consist of a mixture of Cisco 3750 & 4507 switches connected to Cisco Nexus 7010 switches which will form a collapsed aggregation & core layer.

1. Do I have to license both firewalls for SSL VPNs? These licenses are very expensive and why would I have to purchase it for secondary when I am not using it?

I have searched for this error and beside a third-party module (this is a Cisco SFP) the reason could be that newer IOS version is required. Before I'll request an IOS update to the stack with our internal team, IOS version required for this module to run properly and maybe a link to an overview to lookup such requirements in the future.

I just wanted to know that that are we supposed to run the SSO command on both of the supervisors? after retrieving the activation key from the cisco website we tried entering the activation key to the asa both via ASDM and telnet when entering the command on telnet the shell becomes unresponsive when entering the command on ASDM we receive a "success" message followed by a request to restart ASDM and save the configuration after a minute or so i get an error screen saying "write mem" the asdm restarts and nothing changes.
This is the situation I got to firewalls with failover and I need to upgrade the license so I can get more context (right now I have 5 context and I need 10) so I was looking at the procedure and I'm not sure If I need to restart the device or not. I was looking at this procedure:
Upgrading the License for a Failover using ASDM (No Reload Required) Use the following procedure using ASDM if your new license does not require you to reload. This procedure ensures that there is no downtime.
•1. On the active unit, choose Configuration > Device Management > High Availability > Failover > Setup, and uncheck the Enable Failover check box. Now click Apply. The standby unit remains in a pseudo-standby state. Deactivating failover on the active unit prevents the standby unit from attempting to become active during the period when the licenses do not match. •
2. Choose Configuration > Device Management > Licensing > Activation Key, and enter the new activation key that you obtained with the active unit serial number. Now click Update Activation Key.•
3. Log into the standby unit by double-clicking its address in the Device List. If the device is not in the Device List, click Add to add the device. You might be prompted for credentials to log in.
4. Choose Configuration > Device Management > Licensing > Activation Key, and enter the new activation key that you obtained with the standby unit serial number. Now click Update Activation Key.

I need to upgrade a pair of ACE30s to 8Gbps.According to the administration guide, there will be no impact.BUT, it states also:

The have around 80 staff and I think the current infrastructure is overkill for the size of the company. The current kit is old and they have no GB ethernet ports. They currently have:-
