Default Gateway of ISP----> Switch------->Router
From my router, I can ping Gateway, however I cant ping the switch (WS-C2960G-8TC-L) in between.
how my switches are configured, a cisco 3750 and a cisco 4506.[code] i can ping the gateway from the 3750 however cannot get anything past that or enything to it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTwo Cisco C2960G Switches connected with each other using an EtherChannel Trunk Ports.IOS Image has been upgraded to c2960-lanbasek9-mz. 122- 58.SE2.bin.The global command "sdm prefer lanbase-routing" has been executed to set the default template to "lanbase-routing".The global command "ip routing" has been executed to enable the ip routing.An IP route has been configured in each switch to point to each other for the static routing purpose (Please see the 2 attached configuration files) The hosts in VLAN 111 and VLAN 110 are not able to see each other even the ip static routes have been configured.May be I have misconfigured some settings but not sure what's the actual problem.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI set this up and I can ping all the gateways but never the hosts. I was hoping I could make these links between 6500's a mix of L2 and L3. Check it out. They are connected in a linear fashion R1--->R2--->R3. I can ping from R1 to R3's SVI4 gateway but I can never ping a host on that SVI4. I was hoping that I could use the port-channels between 6500's as routed links or as trunk links depending on the type of traffic....thought it would ease the migration. I suppose I could always get rid of the port-channels and just make separate L2 and L3 links between the 6500's.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis would probably sound like a stupid question but it took at least 2 hours of my time so far. I have a 3750 switch where a router and a server is connected. From the switch I can ping the router and server with no issue (directely connected). But from the server I am not able to ping the router. The router and the server are in the same subnet. The router is configured as the default router for the server. I am not able to ping the server from the router either. Here's the output of the ip route from the router. The server IP address is 10.1.200.21 and the router IP address is 10.10.200.1

I have an ASA that houses 11 VLANs, and I am trying to add a 12th.One of the VLANs is for PCs that have internet only access.The new VLAN will be similar, but for multifunction printers only.VLAN 99 is for internet only and works fine, I can ping the gateway of 10.99.3.33 from any PC in that VLAN.I am creating VLAN 98, modeling it after VLAN 99, and I cannot get a PC in the vlan to ping the gateway of10.98.3.17.Both switch and ASA show the new VLAN 98 as UP, switchport is UP/UP.I have deleted and recreated VLAN 98 a few times, but I cannot get a PC VLAN 98 connectivity.Once it is working on the core switch, I will add it to the trunk to the IDS switches. I have a 3560G and an ASA FW, for which I am trying to use PBR to append the next hop. The gateway is the switch VLAN address and the amended net hop is the same VLAN interface on the ASA. Trouble is, I can ping the FW from a client, but not the switch. If I remove the route map, I can ping both. Even more strange is this is the case for some VLANs, but not all!

Last week we had some forwarding issues with our cat 6509e VSS pair, wherby clients could ping the gateway but couldnt route through it! we identified this as being core 2 in the vss pair, yesterday we rebooted the 2nd switch and now the issue has been resolved.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am just setting up a simple scenario with a 1841. Server @ 172.31.1.1 cannot ping 172.31.0.254 or 172.31.0.105. It can ping 172.31.1.250. The router can, on the other hand, ping devices on both networks. This is just for testing routing theory so I don't know why hosts on either side of the network cannot ping each other.
I am only using the FastEthernet interfaces on Router 1841.

I'm running into what seems a basic ip routing config problem with a Catalyst 3750 (IP Base) switch. I have several VLANS configured on the switch with IP routing enabled, and the switch is connected to the inside interace of a new ASA 5520 as follows:
ASA5520 IP (Default gateway): 192.168.1.1Switchport Gi1/0/1 is configured as a routed port, IP address 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0Example VLAN is VLAN 100, IP address 192.168.100.1 255.255.252.0 From the switch CLI, I can ping all VLAN addresses, as well as the ASA5520, and the client laptop I'm testing with from VLAN 100.
From the client laptop on VLAN 100, I can ping all switch interface and VLAN addresses (inter-VLAN routing is working), including 192.168.1.3, but I CANNOT ping the default gateway at 192.168.1.1.

I have couple C2960G and C3750. Is there any way to filter (on ingress port) type of traffic? I would like to allow IP only, and discard (i.e.) IPX, or other garbage, that any device can produce.I have tried to find something about this, but only thing I have found is feature : protocol filter, which doesn't seems to be working on my hardware.

The following VLANs exist on the ASA and both switches: VLAN 10 (10.10.10.0/24), VLAN 11 (10.10.11.0/24), and VLAN 99 (10.10.99.0/24).
The ASA5505 performs the following functions: routing to/from the WAN, firewall, NAT, and DHCP for each VLAN. It has an interface on each VLAN (10.10.x.2) for a DHCP server.
The L3 switch provides inter-VLAN routing and layer 2 switching. The L2 switch provides layer 2 switching, with VLAN support.
What should the default gateway on the L3 switch be? Should I set the IP of the physical interface connected the L3 switch to the ASA5505.

In these 3 of them are in one stack which is acting as access switch, 2 of them in another stack which is as core switch where all the SVI is configured. Now, when i tried to ping from our edge pc which is connected in access switch to default gaeway, which is configured in core switch, the ICMP is getting delayed . But when try to ping from the same edge pc to another user PC, it is getting less tahn 1 millisecond icmp replies.
why icmp is delaying to default gateway , but working with another edge to edge pcs without any delays?

All user ports are configured under vlan 10 and as access ports.Port x is trunk port connected frpm 2960 to 4500 switch allowing vlan 1 and 10 only.This switch has no default gateway configured.
We connected user PC on 2960 switchports and they were able to get the IP from DHCP server and were able to access the network? My question is how users on 2960 switch are able to access the network without ip default-gateway configured on 2960 switch?
I have 2 Servers connected to same cisco switch i3560 n same L2 VLAN, i ping from Server 1 to Server 2 i got delay 800ms?why is that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 2960-S Switch, It is connected to a jack in the building to check the settings, Interface VLAN 1 has an ip, there is a default gateway, Any host connected to switch can access the network resources. But the problem is that I have to use Serial Cable to configure it. I cant ping or telnet into it from any other device. PC's are on different subnets/VLANS.
Basically this switch is connected to a port in a different switch, Do i have to make a trunk?
i have a device connected to 2960 switch. It is an access port and i could ping the device from other switches , also from outside the lan. But i am not able to ping the device from 2960 switch alone. I suspected and checked the arp table and it was showing as incomplete. I created the manual arp entry and tried pinging but no luck.

The 3750 is connected to a firewall which handles the routing. From the 3750 I can only ping remote networks from the vlan1 interface not from vlan6,8 or 10 i.e ping 10.34.37.101 (remote network) source 192.168.0.223 (vlan1) works but ping 10.34.37.101 source 10.74.10.1 (vlan10) does not? I can ping 10.34.37.101 from computers on the various vlans but not from the 3750 it self.
I looked at setting a default gateway for the various vlan interfaces
I have 2 switches. 2960 and 3750. I have trunk on both ports of the switch. there are couple of vlans and ports are assigned to those vlans. examples are management, voice and data. int vlan 1 has ip there is default gateway the hosts are able to connect to the internet when connected to the switch.

I have one 12-port 3750 switch having one gig connectivity with ASR-9010 router having IOS-XR. I am not able to ping this link with 9000 mtu size. I have enable system mtu jumbo on switch to 9000 and on ASR router interface mtu is set to 9114. At switch side switch interface is configured as a trunk port and one vlan has been passed on that interface. I am not able to ping the ip 172.16.10.2 with 9000 mtu size.
View 6 Replies View RelatedToday one of our 9 Cisco switches a "WS-C2950S" (we also got 2 other WS-C2950S on same network) stop responding icmp ping packages. When i tried to telnet the switch its network was unreachable but i was able to see its existance from other switches by "sh cdp neig". So i decided to fix the situation on a suitable night time work, checking by console cable or even rebooting the device.
Then i started to wonder... what this could possibly be about?We have like 40 clients behind that switch and there was no communication problem during the problem.
We got a switch issue here for 4507R-E with two sup6l-e supervisor running sso redudant. and we found that sometimes client can't ping through the local vlan ip add on the switch , can't logon the cli by telnet too. In the direct connected network device such as access switch and ASA , can't ping or telnet the 4507R too. when we made a forceswitch to sso standby supervisor from console , the problem solve and everything get fine . after that, we switch angin back to the origin supervisor , fine too.
before we made the supervisor forceswitch , we had check the system cpu usage is 15 - 20 % from console . also we had creat a new vlan 200, attach the notebook to 4507's vlan 200 port , the notebook can't ping or telnet the vlan 200 ip interface too.
i have a cisco 3560x poe. ny currnet version is 12.2(58)SE2.the cpu process is aboute 30% average.my problem is- ping to the switch itself show me 12ms which is high latency.*note- data between two hosts no this has no latency.i realize the packet go into the cpu itself but, the cpu is not loadedusy. so my question is- is this natural behavior?
