I've been trying (in vain) to connect a USB Wireless device to be able to use it off my wireless network. I have (2) other laptops and (1) other desktop connecting to the router with no issues. For some reason, this old desktop keeps installing an Ethernet device (probably on the MB) and is automatically Configuring the IP address to that instead of the USB wireless device.I've tried uninstalling the Ethernet device but it comes right back after I do a reboot. Even when I disable it, I still can not connect with my Wireless device.

I set my gig 0/0 port to dhcp I see traffic being sent and recieved but I can not ping 8.8.8.8. I am connected to a basic comcast modem from 0/0 I have also tried setting gig 0/0 to 100 full. I do have IP routing enabled. I believe I have my acl's configured correctly. I am wondering at this point if I need a static block of IP's from comcast.

I found a tricky task for our ASA 5505 firewall. I am not able to go internet when using DHCP but I can access by using fixed IP address in client PC.Same IP, Same Mask, Same DNS, Same Gateway. All the same but no hope. Any configuration i missed in firewall?

Its taking IP from External LAN IP i.e. connected to Linksys external Router which has DHCP enabled with different IP class i.e .class B. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 19 locations, each with 1 or more LAP1142N AP's in FlexConnect mode, AP's are primed using CAPWAP to my 5508 WLC at the datacenter. The AP's join the WLC without issue every time. I have two WLAN's, one guest and one staff, the guest network is open and obtains DHCP from a WatchGuard XTM33 firewall at each of the remote locations. The staff side is WPA2/RADIUS and DHCP is assigned from the WLC. Each AP is assigned a static IP that is not in the DHCP scope. For example: DHCP scope on the branch firewall is 192.168.1.10-250 the AP will be assigned static IP of 192.168.1.1.. The AP's are connected to a HP procurve switch that has a untagged VLAN, the firewall is using the native vlan 1 and so is the AP.
I have been running this network for over a year and it has not had a single issue until the last two weeks. Nothing on the network has changed or has been upgraded.The issue I am seeing is that clients are no longer able to connect to the AP and do not get DHCP assigned to them. I am able to get it working, if I remove the static IP from the AP, the AP will reboot, join the controller, then begin working, users can connect and DHCP is assigned from the firewall as it should. However, If the AP then reboots, the AP will join back to the controller but no clients can connect nor do they get a DHCP address. So, I then reassign a static IP to the AP again and it reboots, connects to the controller and clients then can connect and get DHCP.i've found several posts on this topic, in fact the patch of unassigning or reassigning static IP is one that I found. I am also waiting on my SmartNet to start up and will be contacting Cisco support as well.

I just moved to Auckland, NZ from the USA to go to school at the university here, and am having a problem connecting to the internet in the university residence hall in which I am living.Wifi is not available in the residence halls, so we need to use an Ethernet cable. When I plug in my computer, the network adapter icon says Identifying for a while then settles on Unidentified Network with no internet access, the IP is 169.x.x.x.When I try to release and renew the IP, it says unable to contact your DHCP server, request has timed out".I've tried multiple Ethernet cables, both brand new.I tried connecting to a port in a friend's room in the same building, and even in a classroom on campus, and both had the same result.Naturally after all that I assumed my NIC somehow died overnight while I traveled here, so I went to a computer repair shop expecting to have some hardware replaced, but we plugged it in there and it worked immediately so they weren't sure what to tell me.

I have a Dell 570 Inspiron desktop running win7 home premium w/ a 64 bit OS. I have Frontier dsl with a Westell 327W modem and a netgear router. Two desktops are connected to the internet...one through the modem and the Dell 570 through the router. I also run laptops through the router w/no problem. This morning the dsl went down, and when it came back up, the Dell 570 would not connect. i tried Diagnosing Connection Problems, and I'm told to turn off the modem/router (which I have done a gazillion times).When I look at Network Connections in the Control Panel, It tells me I have an unidentified network and can't connect. I read through some forums earlier, and found that releasing and renewing ipconfig often corrects the problem, and that's when I got the message that 'An error occurred while nenewing. Local Area Connection unable to contact DHCP server.' This set up has worked for the past year and a half. I looked at the network adapter, and it says it's working properly. I changed the cables going to the machines, and they both work on this computer. The only change made to the computer was to install McAfee security center through AOL yesterday, but the set up worked all yesterday and last night.

I have reinstalled windows 7 on my Toshiba laptop, I have my wireless set to automatically connect, I have excellent signal strength and have another pc connected to wireless router, but my laptop does not capture IP addresses. The issue I am facing most of the PC are getting IP addresses through DHCP server and very few 5 or 6 PC’s out are not getting the IP from DHCP server.If I switch of the switch and switch on the issue is resolved for those and it will raise for some other PC’s.
I've been having problems connecting my laptop to the internet through wireless. When I plug it in with a cable it works fine. I also know my wireless works fine because i have other things attached to it. When I try to connect it says limited or no connectivity, but the signal strength is excellent. I have tried to repair the problem but it then tells me it cannot renew my ip address. I've also tried the ipconfig /release then renew, and thats when it says about my DHCP.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm seeing some weird behavior trying to connect my Windows XP SP3 desktop via a USB wireless to my Windows network via Linksys WRT120N Router. It is unable to connect with DHCP. "Limited or No Connectivity" is shown on the network icon and no internet connectivity is present. When i manually assign a static IP, i am able to get connectivity to browse the internet, and I am able to ping the other computers in my network, but I am unable to view the windows workgroup. I am able to manually map network drives, but those drop continually. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the connectivity and the dropping while I am using the static IP. DHCP does not work at all. I'm just trying to get this computer connected to the windows workgroup so that I can map network drives and printers once and for all. Right now the rest of the network (ethernet cabled to router) works fine. I'm thinking it may be something in the routers wireless config, as I am having the same issues (DHCP not working at all, static IP working but constantly dropping) with a Mac laptop.

Wireshark notes the Seconds elapsed field appeared to be encoded in little-endian but only on some packets. Apart from that, I can see nothing wrong with the DHCP Offer responses from my DHCP server.Attachment config.txt contains the interesting parts of the configuration. Please note g0/32 has been set to ARP inspection trust as without working DHCP snooping it would require a static bind.Is there any way of figuring out which option can't be parsed? View 3 Replies View RelatedIn our test set up, we have two WLC 5508 Controllers connected via Checkpoint UTM-1 firewall Inside and DMZ Interfaces. Both the WLC controllers are connected to the firewall via Cisco 3750 switch. On the Local (Inside) Controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the wireless management Interface. On the remote anchor controller, guest SSID is enabled and attached to the Management Interface as well. The following configs are replicated on both the Controllers.
SSID Name - guest
Interface - Management ( VLAN 10 on Local and VLAN 20 on remote) -
Mobility Group: Same configs at both ends
SSID Anchor : Anchor SSID on local and local SSID on Anchor.
AP: CAPWAP 3502 Management Subnet

Is there any thing missing in the wireless configs and or the firewall rules as i could not see DHCP request back from the Anchor Controller. Also, after DHCP is obtained, the web authentication request will be redirected to an Amigopod device for authentication. In this case is the redirect URL congiguration to be performed only on the Anchor Controller or is this to be replicated on both the Local and Anchor Controllers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an EA2700 running latest firmware 1.1.38.138827. It is using Cisco Connect Cloud. I am unable to access the DHCP Reservations link under Connectivity/ Local Network. When I click on it, nothing happens. I've tried multiple browsers including IE 10 (Windows 8 RTM), Firefox 15, and Chrome 21. I also tried on a Windows 7 machine with IE 9 and the link doesn't work on that either except that it shows a box that says Invalid Character when I click on the DHCP Reservations link. I see no invalid characters on the screen. Any workaround other than downgrading the firmware or assigning static IPs on individual PCs?Also, on an unrelated note, where is the Dynanic DNS configuration on the Cisco Connect Cloud?

Have a client wanting to hand out public ip addresses to all clients from a PFSense Firewall terminating the internet connection.
How do I allow the Cisco Switches currently in place, configured with private ip addresses in the 10.10.x.x ranges and Vlans, where the main 3550 layer 3 has defined dhcp scopes for each vlan, to relay dhcp requests from all vlans to the PFSense firewall?
I assume I would take off the currently defined dhcp scopes for the vlans and configure each vlan/switch with the ip helper address and specify the PFSense firewall and that Nat would have to be disabled onthe firewall?
I have a Cisco ASA 5500 as the main router with a DIR-655 as a wireless access point behind it. DHCP is turned off on the 655 as the ASA is providing DHCP. This worked great for about a year and now suddenly, without any changes, I'm having problems. The only thing that connects without a problem is a laptop, which shows up on the device list with an IP. Other devices have problems. iPhones connect, show an IP on the device itself, but when listed in the connected list on the 655 show no IP. The connection is super slow. An Airport Express will connect, but again, shows no IP in the connected list on the 655. Using the ethernet cable from the Airport Express, nothing can get an IP. I can live with the iPhone not connecting, but the Airport Express not connecting is a major problem. Any reason why this would just stop working one day?

My ISP just forced DHCP on me (from static IP) and sent me this Xavi adsl modem. I successfully get IP addresses using DHCP from it with workstations, but not with my cisco. With current setup I get DHCP errors (DHCP: QScan: Timed out Selecting state%Unknown DHCP problem.). DHCP log is attached.

I have a cisco 850 that is not getting a WAN ip address thorugh DHCP. I have FE4 (The WAN port) set to get an ip address via DHCP, but when I do a test connection from CCP I get this error: Checking interface IP address…failed.No Ip Address for the interface has been obtained. The interface is configured to obtain an ip address through dhcp. The remote end may not be configured with a dhcp server or the dhcp pool may be empty.
Please contact your ISP or WAN administrator and check if the server has been configured to lease ip addresses to the client’s connection through DHCP. Retest connection.I know that the modem is providing an ip address via dchp, because I can plug my computer directly into the modem and get an ip address, so I think I may have missed a setting on the router.
