setting up a DHCP server on a Cisco Layer 3 Switch. How would I set the pool up to issue the lowest available IP address all the time. At the moment it counts up even if a lease has expired.

anyways here is my concern, we have a DHCP server in our company (HOTEL) and the Computer wont turn on, the computer is Compact Proliant Intel Inside Pentium Pro Processor OS Windows Server 2003, this Computer is so old. they been using this for 12 yrs and they didn't upgrade... now its dead.
since this Computer wont turn on, all of the computers cannot access in the internet, so for the meantime this is what I did... from the modem to router, I configure the router as a STATIC IP and I enter the IP address provided by our Internet Service Provider after that all of the computers form the hotel have internet connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WCS that I use to manage 8 controllers (2 WiSM's totaling 4 controllers, and 4 more controllers at remote locations). All controllers connect to 3750 switches. The layer three interfaces for all V LAN's that are related to the wireless network are created on these switches. Each layer three interface has a helper address that points the devices in the sub net to the correct DHCP server.
When a wireless device requests a DHCP request I believe it gets to that server based on the relay from the layer three interface on the 3750. However, I know that the virtual interface on the controller is also requesting an address because my firewall is flooded with deny statements. The virtual interface is configured for 1.1.1.1 and so it gets blocked. I am starting to question the use of this interface considering the fact that it is getting blocked and the clients are still getting address.
Are both interfaces trying to act as DHCP relays? Could I setup the controllers to be the only relay (without using the virtual interface)?
Can we Configure DHCP server in 3750 ? we have configure DHCP server in 1841 router but some reason we want remove router .

I am working to test the PPPoE solution. The requirement is that she like to have a PPPoE server (7200), enable the DHCP pool on the router. The PPPoE client (1811) should receive the IP address through the DHCP and with subnet mask (/24) so that routing protocol can enable between the PPPoE server and client.We test with some initial configuration but not success to obtain DHCP address from the pool.

I have (2) other laptops and (1) other desktop connecting to the router with no issues. For some reason, this old desktop keeps installing an Ethernet device (probably on the MB) and is automatically Configuring the IP address to that instead of the USB wireless device.I've tried uninstalling the Ethernet device but it comes right back after I do a reboot. Even when I disable it, I still can not connect with my Wireless device.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Windows xp computer can't connect to the DHCP server correctly and thus can't connect to the internet. It is connected through an Ethernet cable to a wireless router. All other computers on the same network connect fine to the router, both wired and wireless.This all started after I left my computer alone for a few hours and came back with it not coming out of idle. After shutting it off and turning it back on, it would not connect to the DHCP server.It assigned me the autoconfig address 169.254.189.73 because it couldn't connect to the DHCP server. I even tried a static IP but even that wouldn't fix it. I have tried the same ethernet cable in another computer and it worked fine so I know that it is because of my computer.I have tried renewing and releasing the connection using ipconfig in the command prompt but that did nothing. The settings are all the same as the other computers running through the same router. I have tried shutting down all the other computers and reconnecting the trouble one but again still nothing.The last thing I'm not sure about is the network adapter driver. I have reinstalled it but I'm not sure if the driver is correct. I have an NVIDEA nforce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet adapter. I attempted to reinstall but I'm not sure I selected the correct generation when I downloaded the driver installer. My computer says nothing about the generation of the adapter so I just chose the newest generation. My adapter is integrated in the motherboard.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently reset my Quidway WA1003A modem from Huawei and ever since, the radio button for the server settings under DHCP configuration is at OFF whenever I start up my computer. So if I try accessing the internet via wi-fi on my phone, I'll have to manually change the radio button by opening up 192.168.1.1 through the browser on my computer each time. I never faced this issue prior to the reset. It used to somehow always be saved as ON.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Internal DHCP Server configured on the Cisco WLC 5508 and all is working fine. DHCP Range is 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.245. Now I created another SSID but I want clients connecting to this SSID get specific IP's or from a specific range. WLC has no option to bind a DHCP pool to a specific IP so what I did I checked the option to "Override DHCP" and added the IP of my firewall WLC is connected to and setup a DHCP Pool on that firewall as 192.168.1.89 to 192.168.1.94 (192.168.1.88/29).

I am using a fiber optic connection. I want to connect it directly to ASA5510. A WLC2504 will be connected to ASA and one Aironet AP will be deployed at first. Looking at pcaps, I don't even see a tftp request going the server after the switch obtains an IP via DHCP. The config file format is exactly as obtained from the download backup section (pretty sure its not the issue since i don't see a download attempt). Also, the SMB switch is running the latest firmware image (1.1.1.8)
Looking though the admin guide i did not see specifics on how the DHCP server was to be configure for the auto configuration feature to work.
On our ASA5520 we have three subinterfaces configured on our Gi0/1. Is it possible to configure a DHCP Server on one of these subinterfaces?
