anyways here is my concern, we have a DHCP server in our company (HOTEL) and the Computer wont turn on, the computer is Compact Proliant Intel Inside Pentium Pro Processor OS Windows Server 2003, this Computer is so old. they been using this for 12 yrs and they didn't upgrade... now its dead.
since this Computer wont turn on, all of the computers cannot access in the internet, so for the meantime this is what I did... from the modem to router, I configure the router as a STATIC IP and I enter the IP address provided by our Internet Service Provider after that all of the computers form the hotel have internet connection.

A Windows Server 2008 r2 with 2 internet ports. One (IP: 10.0.96.132) connected to company intranet and one (192.168.10.1) as DHCP server connect to several PCs (192.168.10.**) through a switch.The problem is the PCs (192.168.10.**) can ping the DHCP server (192.168.10.1) , while DHCP server (192.168.10.1) can not ping (192.168.10.**).How to configure the server so that all these PCs can access the intranet?
I've been trying (in vain) to connect a USB Wireless device to be able to use it off my wireless network. I have (2) other laptops and (1) other desktop connecting to the router with no issues. For some reason, this old desktop keeps installing an Ethernet device (probably on the MB) and is automatically Configuring the IP address to that instead of the USB wireless device.I've tried uninstalling the Ethernet device but it comes right back after I do a reboot. Even when I disable it, I still can not connect with my Wireless device.
My Windows xp computer can't connect to the DHCP server correctly and thus can't connect to the internet. It is connected through an Ethernet cable to a wireless router. All other computers on the same network connect fine to the router, both wired and wireless.This all started after I left my computer alone for a few hours and came back with it not coming out of idle. After shutting it off and turning it back on, it would not connect to the DHCP server.It assigned me the autoconfig address 169.254.189.73 because it couldn't connect to the DHCP server. I have reinstalled it but I'm not sure if the driver is correct. I have an NVIDEA nforce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet adapter. I attempted to reinstall but I'm not sure I selected the correct generation when I downloaded the driver installer. My computer says nothing about the generation of the adapter so I just chose the newest generation. My adapter is integrated in the motherboard.

THE SETUP: As of right now we have a wall port (internet access) with a cable running to a 8 port unmanaged netgear switch that has cables hooked up to the 5 workstations as well as the server itself. Pretty simple.THE QUESTION: How do I configure the ISP static settings on the DHCP Server portion of the Server PC? We may be getting a new ISP with a dynamic address OR a new static address. I'm using 2003 server for DHCP settings. I don't want some computers to get ip address automatically but if they put manually ip address, it's ok, they can connect.How it can be done?I mean when those computers try to connect for wireless, they should not get any ip address (so internet) until they put manually ip address, default gateway and dns server.
I recently reset my Quidway WA1003A modem from Huawei and ever since, the radio button for the server settings under DHCP configuration is at OFF whenever I start up my computer. So if I try accessing the internet via wi-fi on my phone, I'll have to manually change the radio button by opening up 192.168.1.1 through the browser on my computer each time. I never faced this issue prior to the reset. It used to somehow always be saved as ON.

so i want to move my dns and dhcp to a server (sbs2011). i am currently using a netgear 3700. i am a little confused on how to set this up. i know to turn off dhcp on the router. will the server give out a dns address? do i even need to router, or could i just use a switch?

my Laptop is about nine years old, HP Pavillion Pentium 4. I run Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3. I use a broadband card from Verizon that I just put in my USB (no router, etc) I'm getting a System Error Source DHCP Event ID 1002. When this happens, my computer, I believe, is going into sleep mode and I have to reboot the system. When I turn it back on and go back on the internet, all my websites that I was in are still there. The error says: The IP address lease 10.170.223.48 for the Network Card with Network address 2c3068c16ED1 has been denied by the DHCP Server 10.173.229.86 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message)The DHCP Server Service did not extend the lease on your computer's IP address, so your computer temporarily lost its connection with the Network. I tried the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. I tried going in services.msc and going under DHCP and keeping it automatic but stopping it. I called Verizon and I believe he refreshed my Network settings (I think I knew more about the topic than he did) He said it was my computer, whatever. I just tried the static IP but it didn't seem to take. I restarted and it jumped back to automatic. My last guess is it's something to do with the time frame of when it automatically obtains the address and when it expires. When I do the ipconfig /all it shows only a two hour time frame before it expires. Today I noticed that my computer shut down/sleepmode at the exact time the ipaddress was obtained. So, is there a way to increase this time between obtaining and expiring?

Can I have two asa firewall between dhcp client and dhcp server. if yes what solution i have to have to get dhcp leases. should i have to configure dhcp relay on both the asa.
So far we add any router in the existing network simply by disabling DHCP server, and adding LAN ip for that. We don't add WAN detail at all in the additional routers. And plug one cable from main network to the LAN port of the additional routers.So we basically use that additional routers only as a access point for WIFI.But what I wonder is if it's possible for me to use the additional routers with the same feature as of the main routers i.e. Enabling DHCP server so that it too can give its own DHCP ip address.
I imagine I can use the framed-ip-address attribute to assign ip-addresses but there seem to be support for static ip addresses only?A bit of a drag when we're talking 200+ nodes.
