Cisco Firewall :: 8.2 (ASA5510) / 8.4(2) (ASA5505) - Why Doesn't Route Map / Set IP Next-hop Work
Jan 2, 2012I need to be able to redirect some HTTP traffic to an Ironport WSA (for now) on a DMZ interface, the initial config I'm trying to test is along the lines of the following (don't have access to the ASA at the moment to cut-and-paste):
access-list 101 deny any any neq www
access-list 101 deny tcp host 10.0.2.2 any
access-list 101 permit tcp any any
route-map proxy-redirect permit 101
match ip address 101
set ip next-hop 10.0.2.2
Unfortunately the ASA does not take the "set ip next-hop" command, I get an invalid input error message and if I at the route map config prompt type "?" only the "metric" and "metric-type" commands are listed as available.
This happens both on 8.2 (ASA5510) and 8.4(2) (ASA5505). Since others are able to make this work, I assume there's something else on the ASA that I have to set to enable this command?

Jan 5, 2012I have a problem with mi telephony server. My network topology is very simple. I have an ASA5505 connected to Internet throught an ISP. Behind ASA5505 I have a ToIP Server that operate well inside LAN network. However, when I try to register two or more extensions (Softphones) from Internet, Softphones some times it registers sucessfully, but some times doesn´t work.
The other hand, when softphones outside from LAN get register sucessfully in Asterisk server, is not possible that one of this calling the other one, and Asterisk server detects them as "UNREACHABLE". I don´t know if the problem are all commands of traffic inspect or if the problem is referenced to a particular UC proxy License.

Jul 20, 2011I installed on 2 different PCs (Win7 64-bit) the Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07 with the same VPN profile for 2 different users. We use an ASA5505 (8.0(5) sec plus license) as the VPN end point for the clients. The VPN Clients can connect simultaneously to the ASA, they receive the split tunnel infos but only ONE client can ping the internal network ip range. The other one has no access to the internal resources! When they separately try to connect, there is no problem. Each of them can reach the internal net.On other 2 PCs (Win 7 32-bit) the clients have no problem reaching the internal net (simultaneously connect).

Does CISCO have any free vpn clients for Windows?I tried to download a client from the CISCO downloads area, but it's for some kind of purchase agreement. I would have thought that the vpn client was free to download given my ASA comes with two free vpn licenses.

However, I was not able to get the two to communicate with WPA2 security - maybe, I just didn't try hard enough? Both devices are capable of doing WPA2 with AES but client mode doesn't seem to work with WPA2? I had to drop back to WPA-AES to make it work. Why is this?

when i type the command ipconfig, it gives me:

when i type the "ping yahoo.com" i get:
4 received, 4 sent, 0 lost
my computer works fine and i can go online. i use wire for my computer and try the same wire to my laptop but not working. i tries another cable throught the router but still nothing.

The other computers can be easily connected to a USB printer on my DIR-825 (HW B1) router, but the W8 computer refuses to completely install Shareport (both the CD version and the latest download v1.17). I also tried Shareport-Plus v4.11 (found on the DIR 835 page), which did install correctly, but was still unable to see the USB printer. What can be done? I just got the laptop so I could do programming homework and I'd like to be able to keep things synced with subversion wirelessly. Worst comes to worst I can use a USB key but it seems silly to do that when both computers talk to the same router.

Just got TL-MR3040 from amazon, not very happy that it is version 1, they could at least mention it in the description, but whatever...The problem is, i can not make it work with my PC laptop(thinkpad x120e with Windows 7 64 bit). Which means,1 not possible to get into web interface to configure it, and 2 if i configure it with old powerbook (os x 10.4) to share internet from usb stick, i can connect to it's wireless network but it doesn't share internet with my pc laptop,while mac and ipad working perfect...I've try to log in into web interface through the cable, still no luck...Not sure i want to re-install the whole system on my laptop just to see if it will change anything, it works with any other router, and usb sticks...

I was able to start it again using the Dell Operating System Reinstallation CD for XP Professional with SP1, that came with another computer. I assume that I have lost the driver for it. Before the crash it had a working wireless connection. I need to know what driver to install to make it operate. I have a directly connected server behind the ASA and I can ping the server without a problem.
The VPN client reports packets being encrypted and decrypted
However when I try to RDP to the server the encyrpted packets keep incrementing but the decrypted packets do not.
I am also not seeing any RDP traffic hit the server (verified by ethereal)
I have done a packet tracer and it suceeds but ends with an IP spoof which I believe is correct as it is vpn traffic and not actually being encrypted.
This is the debug from the RDP session, I am confused by a Denied ICMP on line 2 as I am able to ping the server?

Apr 23, 2012I am trying to configure dual ISP on my ASA5505.I have everything configured and working when eth0/0 is connected, but when I disconnect it, it doesn't route any traffic.The static route for the primary isp is removed and the static route to the backup isp shows up, but no traffic goes in or out. I should note that I'm doing this as a proof of concept so eth0/0 is connected to a router and eth0/1 is connected to another router. [code]

I am wondering if it is possible to configure a Cisco ASA 5505/10/20 to be a client to an existing (in this case) cisco client vpn. Oct 4, 2011when it comes to IOS based SSL VPN setup, so have run into an issue which I can't seem to find an answer for.
What i'm after is a way to restrict access to an AnyConnect authenticated and connected client, on a specific profile, to a list of specific websites (all on the Intranet). Everything else must be blocked.
On the IOS device, I had it fudged to pretty much retstrict access to a certain IP and port, and used a mod rewrite in Apache to re-write a URL from that IP to the host the site actually resided on. It's cludged together and working, but it's not ideal (and it's not going to allow for scaling up to what I need).
I can find plenty of references here and on the net to using regex to create block lists based on a global policy to disallow specific URLS, but I need the inverse of that, and, only applied to a specific policy group.
Is this possible on an ASA5505? Is it possible on *any* ASA?

If my immediate network connection to the PC client is lost while the VPN is active, I get a BSOD. There's no problem if my DSL drops or a cable beyond my router is unplugged. It only (and always) fails if the network cable to the PC running the VPN Client is diconnected (or if my router loses power) while the link is connected.

I take the same PCF file and put it on a Windows 7 machine client version 5.0.07.0440 and the tunnel comes up. But I'm unable to ping my 10.1.1.2 server.
Does something in the pcf file need to change for this version of the client?
