Cisco VPN :: AnyConnect 2.5.2006 Client Fails Installation On Windows 7 64
Dec 13, 2010
I have a Cisco AnyConnect 2.5.2006 failing installation on an upgrade from 2.4.1012. Win7 64-bit.RunOnce exists in the registry and I even added everyone/full perms to it to make sure it wasn't a perms issue. (it seems everyone recommends checking this key exists)I've cleaned the system and the registry multiple time for anything AnyConnect related. The installation 'appears' to fail on the installation of the 64-bit virtual adapter
Installation log is attached to this post.

Some of my VPN users are getting the following error on Windows 7 64 bit computer. I have uploaded the client to a website. The VPN users are supposed to download and install the client from the web-site. Then they enter the URL to connect to our VPN. This worked fine during the test and only some users are having issues. This seems like Windows issue.
Error “There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personal or package vendor”

we are using Cisco VPN client to access our corporate network.I have 5 new notebooks Dell Latitude E6410 OS Windows 7 Professional x64, with identical hardware configuration.I downloaded Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.440 (64 bit) and installed it on all notebooks. It works fine on 3 notebooks, while on 2 notebooks the VPN connection fails with error:
Secure VPN collection terminated locally by the client.
Reason 403: Unable to contact the security gateway
We use a smartcard for VPN access (etoken from Aladdin)
Here an extract from Cisco log:
Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 5.0.07.0440Copyright (C) 1998-2010 Cisco Systems, Inc. It seems the problem is in the certificate, but I verified and Cisco client says it's ok. It's also the only valid certificate in MMC->Certificates->Personal.Furthermore, also using other smartcard (etokens) of other users it doesn't work.

My company just upgraded our VPN software to use Cisco AnyConnect 3.0.1047. We were previously using 2.5.0217. I successfully upgraded the VPN client on my iMac. I am trying to do the same on my MacBook Pro but the process is failing. Both Macs are using OSX 10.6.7. Both use Chrome but I have reproduced the error using Safari and Firefox on the failing system.
On the failing MacBook, the IP address my IT department gave me produced this error:After the 26 second timeout completed, I was brought to this screen:
I clicked the "Mac..." link above and a file called "cstub" was downloaded. I could not execute the file directly as its permissions started at 644. I changed its permissions through the terminal to 755. I tried executing the binary but it failed returning error code 250.I tried uninstalling AnyConnect 2.5.0217 to see if that improved things. No change.

I'm trying to install a webauth certificate -- it works fine when unchained, however once I add the additional information the installation fails. I am using the same root and intermediate certificate information as last year, and it worked fine then. I can recreate last year's pem file with the chained information and it installs fine, so it's only when I include the new device certificate information that it fails. The certificate installs fine when it's not chained, I'm not receiving any openssl errors, and I'm not using openssl 1.0.

Installed Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobile Client on a new Asus CM6870, downgraded to Windows 7 Pro. It worked fine for 3 days, establishing VPN connections with my workplace without a probllem. Then it repeatedly failed to connect.
I attempted an uninstall/re-install, and the install now fails as well, returning the following error: The VPN client agent was unable to create the interprocess communication depot. When I do manage to get it re-installled, it works sometimes, then fails to establish connections other times. I am not an IT professional, so trying to diagnose the issue by reviewing the Windows/Inf/setupapi.app.log and .dev files is a no go. I do not hold a contract with Cisco so I am not authorized to open a support ticket, or receive phone support (again, I tired).

I have setup an Anyconnect SSL-VPN in my 2811 and it works just great, but then after the reboot it fails. I think it has something to do with the SSL Cert being ereased. Here is my configuration, if you need anything else:

I'm trying to set up vpn with ASA 8.2(5) and Anyconnect 3.0.4235. The goal is to force user to connect from registered machines only (winXP & win7 x32 and x64). To do this, I used machine certificates issued by own CA. Certificate is installed in machine store. I use double authentication (aaa & certificates). Everything works fine, AnyConnect browses cert store, ASA validating machine certificate, then user is prompted for username/password and finally if all is correct - connection is established. My problem is, that for new installation (new host), AnyConnect fails at first connection attempt. If I use aaa authentication only, connection is established, but if I use aaa & certificates - connection fails. The appropriate .xml profile is predeployed at client host asa well as machine and root certificates.Important: When first try (aaa auth) succeded, others are always OK (with aaa. certificate or aaa & certificate authentication). Only the first one fails. The goal is to succesfuly establish connection with aaa & cert.
With DART i get:
******************************************
Type : Error
Source : acvpnagent
Description : Function: CTransportWinHttp::WinHttpCallback
File: .CTransportWinHttp.cpp
Line: 2150
[code]....
Certificate is valid for sure, and as I mentioned before, if first use aaa only, the second try is OK. At ASA with debug crypto ca 255 can't see any certificate from client.

I recently went on vacation an went to connect to my company VPN (using Cisco Anyconnect) while connected with my Verizon Aircard. The process churns for a bit then gives me two error messages."AnyConnect was not able to establish a connection to the specified secure gateway. Please try connecting again.""The VPN connection was terminated due to the loss of the network interface used for the VPN connection."This is the first time using this combination. Using AnyConnect over a wireless connection works fine. The VZ Aircard connection works fine. Just not together. My platform is a Dell E6400 with a Verizon PC5750 running Windows 7 64-bit. Unfortunately, my company support basically stated that they don't have a clue and want to know if it can be resolved once I get back in. Of course that defeats the point. I did notice that the "adapter" created for the aircard does not have the Cisco AnyConnect Network Access Manager Filter Driver listed.

I have a CISCO RV220W Wireless router, running the latest firmware (1.0.1.0) and CISCO's AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client v3.0.2052, and Windows 7, 64 bit. My laptop is a corporate based work laptop, and I am trying to use it to connect to my home network ( CISCO RV 220W ).
When I try to connect my PC via the wireless network (to the CISCO Router), via CISCO's AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, the WiFi connection never actually takes place - rather the CISCO AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client s/w interface suggests that it is "associating" and seems to go into an endless loop. It never receives a DHCP address from the CISCO router. ( see attached picture ).
If I disable the "Cisco AnyConnect Network Access Manager" service, as well as the "Cisco AnyConnect Network Access Manager Logon Module" service within Windows 7, I have no problems establishing a WiFi network with my CISCO router via the traditional Windows approach of connecting to a WiFi network. The inability to connect wirelessly comes back, when these services are re-enabled. It appears to me (a layman) as if the "Network Access Manager" layer is preventing connection to the CISCO router via WiFi.
I have no problems connecting to the CISCO router using CISCO AnyConnect Secure Mobile client over a physical Ethernet cable. I also have a Belkin branded Wireless router that works perfectly with the CISCO AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. All of the wireless settings on the CISCO RV220W router are factory default.
how I can get the CISCO AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to play nicely with the CISCO Router when I wish to establish a WiFi connection?
I have also attached the Windows based Event Log associated with this trouble shooting - associated with the "Network Access Manager" logging. SSID C&C@Home is the CISCO Router, whilst SSID Cam@Home is the Belkin wireless router.

I am having this problem trying to connect to my university network trough the vpn client from a pc running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit: the client connects but I have no Internet access. I first believed that the problem was related to the fact that I had ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus+Firewall installed, but I made several steps, including the complete removal of the ZoneAlarm product, and I still have the same problem.
Here's what I see in the log:
Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 5.0.07.0290
Copyright (C) 1998-2010 Cisco Systems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Client Type(s): Windows, WinNT
Running on: 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1
[code]....
Using the same client (32 bit version) in another pc of my lan which runs Windows XP and that had never ZoneAlarm installed on it, I have no problems. Also, using Shrew Soft Vpn Client 2.1.7 on the problematic pc I can connect to vpn without problems, so I am really stuck trying to understand what's wrong with Cisco Vpn Client.

I am using AnyConnect VPN 2.5.3054 on two different computers (Windows 7 and XP SP3) with Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. Upon successful connection, the client disconnects and goes into a continous loop of reconnection to no avail, a message at the bottom appears: "A VPN reconnect resulted in different configuration setting. The VPN network setting is being re-initialized. Applications utilizing the private network may need to be restarted."At times I also see after this loop of attempts to reconnect: "The VPN client agent SSL engine encountered an error. Please retry, or restart AnyConnect."Note: I added the VPN applications to the trusted zone of KIS 2012, unchecked the SSL and HTTPS 433 ports and added exceptions for the applications, again without use. I tried uninstalling and installing after disabling KIS but the problem persists.

We have a RA Vpn split_tunnel setup in one of our locations which is working fine in all areas except for traffic destinged for one specific website using https. This vendor only allows the HTTPS connections to them to come from certain outside IP addresses. ssentially it should work like this:RAVPN_client (10.4.4.0/27) --> https request to vendor_ip (208.x.x.x) ---> ASA55XX --> NAT_to_outside_ip --> https request to vendor_ip (208.x.x.x) need to understand how you would go about NATing ONLY this specific https traffic from the RA VPN while not having to alter the setup otherwise. Internal hosts (aka behind the ASA physically) do not have any issue getting to this site, as its nat'd to the outside ip address as we expect. Here is what we are using for the NAT Exemption list he 10.2.2.x, 192.168.100.x and 172.23.2.x are other remote sites that we have. RA VPN users are using the 10.4.4.0/27 do not have any issues connecting to them, no matter the protocol.

when it comes to IOS based SSL VPN setup, so have run into an issue which I can't seem to find an answer for.
What i'm after is a way to restrict access to an AnyConnect authenticated and connected client, on a specific profile, to a list of specific websites (all on the Intranet). Everything else must be blocked.
On the IOS device, I had it fudged to pretty much retstrict access to a certain IP and port, and used a mod rewrite in Apache to re-write a URL from that IP to the host the site actually resided on. It's cludged together and working, but it's not ideal (and it's not going to allow for scaling up to what I need).
I can find plenty of references here and on the net to using regex to create block lists based on a global policy to disallow specific URLS, but I need the inverse of that, and, only applied to a specific policy group.
Is this possible on an ASA5505? Is it possible on *any* ASA?

I have noticed that the error "unable to process response from x.x.x.x" when using anyconnect is very common and that the actions to handle it are different. Right know I have the same issue. Let's name it "the message" =)
We are running:
ASA 8.2(2) . AnyConnect 2.5.1025
In my scenario, we used to be able to connect to the ASA using AnyConnect but suddenly it stops to work showing "the message" =) We did this procedure, but it did not worked for us
[URL]...
My first question would be:
How can I obtain more information so I can get a better idea to handle "the message"?
The next step I am about to do is upgrade the AnyConnect Cliente to 2.5.2019. According to the release notes, this versión is supported with ASA 8.2(22)
I also notice that the AnyConnect client can be install with a component named Cisco Diagnostic and Reporting Tool (DART). Does this tool could be usefull to troubleshoot "the message"? What kind of information does DART can give us? Were can I find the files it captures?

I have a problem when trying to access from a workstation on the internal network to an external FTP server using Explicit FTPS. After the server requires the client TLS Authentication the client inits TLS but the connection is closed by timeout.
I have disabled the FTP inspection on the firewall and I have opened some high ports from the Internet to the test workstation (ACL and NAT rules), but without results.
If I try to connect from a workstation to the FTP server using a direct Internet connection I can access the FTP server without problems, so I think the problem is in the ASA.

I already have traditional IPsec VPN access working just fine through this device. Users connect and authenticate using a windows AD server for RADIUS and everything works great. However, the customer wants to use AnyConnect instead of the traditional VPN client. So I added a SSL connection profile (the anyconnect essentials feature is enabled on the device) and told it to use the same IP pool and RADIUS server group as the IPsec clients. I used the ASDM wizard to configure it and had no issues completing the wizard. when trying to make a connection to the webvpn portal I get a 404 error instead of the client portal. Also when trying to connect with the Anyconnect client, I get the usual "Untrusted VPN certificate" warning, but the connection attempt fails when I click through it.The strange part is when I look at the issued certificate in the browser or the client, it's showing me the certificate from the RADIUS server. Why is it looking there for certificate and more importantly, why does it care at all about a certificate when I've specified in the connection profile to use AAA to authenticate?

We currently have an ASA 5505 Firewall with VPN services configured. The system is running ASA Version 9.0.0 and ADSDM 7.0.2. I installed the "Cisco AnyConnect Sercure Mobility Client" Version 3.1.01065 on my Windows 7 Ultimate PC. When I try to connect to my VPN service I ge the following message:
Security Warning: Untrusted VPN Server Certificate! AnyConnect cannot verify the VPN server: XXX.XXX.XX.XX
-Certifiate does not match the server name
-Certificate is from an untrusted source.
-Certificate is not identified for this purpose.
Without purchasing a certificate from a 3rd Party vendor, is it possible to register a "Self" generated Certificate to get rid of this message? If so are there any "Detailed" (e.g., simplified or not in Cisco-eeze language) instructions on how to setup the Firewall to "push" the certificate to the VPN client so the message doesn't come up for the user?

I am using Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client v2.3.0254 and ever since i upgraded my laptop from the Lenovo T420 to the Lenovo T430 the time it takes to connect via VPN has increased drastically. Connecting via VPN on my Lenovo T420 would take as little as 5 seconds to authenticate and connect while connecting with my T430 is now taking at minimum of 5 minutes, sometimes upwards of 15 minutes only to report back an error!
The screen the AnyConnect VPN Client seems to hang on is "Establishing VPN - Initiating Connection..."
The server is enforcing that McAffee is installed and up to date, however i have already made sure that my McAffee install is valid and up to date.
I have already taken these steps to try to correct the issue: Re installed Cisco AnyConnect VPN ClientRe installed & updated virus definitions for McAffeeRan CheckDisk on my primary OS partitionRan RAM validation utility to verify no bad sectors I have attached a screenshot of the error log from AnyConnect as well as the log html file.
