We have 2 Cisco ASA 5520 configured as Active/Standby with public IPs 68.171.xxx.xx6 and 68.171.xxx.xx7 respectively.We have 3 different vendors who are trying to access our Data Center. Do I have to have 3 different public IPs for these 3 different vendors? Or, just share the public IPs assigned to our 'Outside' interface?

I am a employed at a credit union with 17 branches. We have a mpls circuit connecting the branches to our main office. I setup DSL as a backup connection. I have 17 RV042 Cisco VPN Routers. I created a secure vpn tunnel for every branch to the main office. I made a delayed route in our main router to fail over to the VPN, in case the mpls failed. Almost everything works great except our ATM's are required to connect to a router at our main office to a different subnet than the tunnel is connecting, therefore not routing through the tunnel. I've tried creating another tunnel but only works with one of the branches, cause I get a conflict at the main office when I try a second tunnel with the same ip network. Also I tried routing all the traffic through the vpn by putting in the address 0.0.0.0 subnet 0.0.0.0, at the branch site. But I can only do that for one branch, The Downtown Cisco won’t let me create another tunnel with that setting.

I purchased the RV180 to replace a dead Linksys BEFVP41 to connect a home office to HQ.  The Linksys was configured with three IPSEC tunnels to connect to three different subnets all through the main HQ gateway.  Note that each tunnel is independent with its own pre-shared key.  I can configure the same tunnels on the RV180, and each one works correctly, but I can only get one to run at a time.  I have to disable the other two.  Enabling a second tunnel results in the No phase2 handle found error.  I could not use the Basic VPN setup as it complains that the remote endpoint is already in use.  I had to use the Advanced VPN Setup to create the IKE and IPSEC policies.  In a different discussion [URL]

I'm trying to research the tunnel limits on a 5508 controller if you're terminating controllers to two different SSID's.  For example.  In my DMZ i have  a GUEST SSID for contractors and guests and then I have another SSID used by employees so that tablet and mobile phone users can access the interenet.   Because we don't trust any of these devices we have that SSID is termiated just as we do our GUEST SSID. 
 
To reduce the number of anchor controllers I deploy, I wanted to start with one 5508 Controller. (then move up to about 3)  This controller would have two SSID's, GUEST & MOBILE.  On the Foreign controllers when I setup anchor tunneling I will be anchoring to the same controller however to two different SSID's. 
 
Per the 5508 specs it supports 71 tunnels.
 
So my question to the group is, will the 5508 see this anchoring as one tunnel each? Or does it support 71 Tunnels per SSID?

We have several remote sites with Linksys WRVS4400N and Smoothwall firewall/vpn devices.  I need these sites to be able to connect to multiple dis-contiguous subnets at our main office.  This was easily done with smoothwall and linksys.  You create a separate tunnel for each subnet and voila, you're done.  However, when I tried this with our newly installed ASA, it will not let me create multiple tunnels to the same remote peer address.  This is a problem since these sites only have a single static public IP address.  Am i missing something or does the ASA not allow connections to/from multiple subnets form a site with a single peer address?

Due to special circumstances we have 2 ISP links on an ASA5510. I am trying to terminate some L2L VPN tunnels on one link and others on the second ISP Link, eg below:

Establising the VPN tunnels in either direction when using ISP_1 works fine establishing in either direction from remote access users and multiple L2L tunnels (only showing one for example).
 
On ISP_2
1. Peer 3.3.3.3 device establishes a VPN tunnel, but the return traffic does NOT get back to devices on 3.3.3.3 tunnel.
2. The local firewall does NOT establish a VPN tunnel going to 3.3.3.3
It would seem to indicate that the problems lies with this multihomed firewall not directing the traffic correctly to either return down and establised VPN tunnel (point1) or to intiate a tunnel if none exists (point 2).

Reconfiguring the VPN tunnel peer for 3.3.3.3 to be on ISP_1 of the local firewall, all springs into life! There are sufficient license etc...

I need to create multiple ip-sec vpn tunnels on A Cisco 837 ADSL Router. I am able to create one tunnel but the second connection is asking for the outside interface which is atm and already taken by the first tunnel. How can i create more tunnels?
 
Secondly, after creating the first tunnel i am able to access the remote lan network but when i tried tracert "remote lan ip of a pc" from my pc i got "request timed out" after passing my 837 but succeeded to reach the target. Does tracert needs something to be opened in the router?

Cisco VPN :: 5520 - Primary And Secondary ASAs / L2L Tunnels Not Responding?

I have a pair of ASA5520s in active/active failover - this works fine.  Both primary and secondary ASAs are running 8.2(2) code.I  have a 30-day temp 50 seat SSL license that I applied to the primary.  I then started having problems with L2L tunnels.
 
I noted that if the 'show crypto isakmp sa' state for an L2L was MM_STANDBY, then the remote protected net could not reach my side.  However, I could ping across to the other side at which time the state changed to MM_ACTIVE as I would expect and the remote could then reach my side.
 
I believe this results from the differences between the two licenses.  When I applied the 50 seat SSL lic. it disabled failover, but I was willing to risk that for a few days to do show my customer the benifits of SSL connectivity.  Note license differences.  Is this causing the MM_STANDBY IKE issue and if so can I overcome it and use the 50 SSL VPN Peers lic.

Question on ASA VPN tunnels. I have one ASA 5510 in our corporate office, I have two subnets in our corporate office that are configured in the ASA in a Object group. I have a site to site IPSEC tunnel already up and that has been working. I am trying to set up another site to site IPSEC tunnel to a different location that will need to be setup to access the same two subnets. I'm not sure if this can be setup or not, I think I had a problem with setting up two tunnels that were trying to connect to the same subnet but that was between the same two ASA's. Anyways the new tunnel to a new site is not coming up and I want to make sure it is not the subnet issue. The current working tunnel is between two ASA 5510's, the new tunnel we are trying to build is between the ASA and a Sonicwall firewall.

find attached Network Diagram for the same. All Firewalls used are Cisco ASA 5520.
 
Both VPN tunnels between Point A and Point B, Point B and Point C too are up. I have enabled Same security level intra interface permit command also.
 
How do i enable traffic originating from LAN Subnets behind Point A to reach LAN Subnets behind Point C without having to create a Seperate tunnel between Point A and Point C

Terminating Cat5 With RJ-11

The reason I want to do this is to connect a DSL modem. I'm moving all my networking equipment to my utility room where all the cables come in to the house. All of the phone jacks are wired using Cat5. So, I want to take one of those Cat5 cables and terminate it with an RJ-11 so the modem can dial out.

I've got a problem with an ASR1004 running "asr1000rp2-adventerprisek9.03.02.00.S.151-1.S.bin".

When I'm performing extended ping tests using a tclsh script i'm geting this error message:

ASR_X1A2#ping 172.27.1.250

% Authorization failed.

When i'm pinging 12 diffrent destinations this happens to about 3 of them.

Checking the logs I found this:

Apr 24 19:42:56.071: %SSH-4-SSH2_UNEXPECTED_MSG: Unexpected message type has arrived. Terminating the connection

In my entire backbone this is happening only in this equipment, I've checked the connection between my ASR and the TACACS and it's OK, no packet loss. CPU and MEM are OK too.

ISP on each circuit cannot provide more than 3MB, so soon will get three circuit each of 3MB. ISP recommends to terminate all the links on Layer2 switch and have a trunk to the Router. I need all experts opinion on this proposed setup. We currently got 2811 with two GigaEthernet ports. We plan to have three GRE over IPSEC  Tunnels (One tunnel for each circuit) to load balance/load Share/redundancy.

I have an ASA 5540 cluster that is configured as my remote access VPN point. Users connect using IPSEC Profiles with Cert based authentication, the profile is configured to query two DHCP servers (infoblox appliance servers).
 
The problem I am encountering, is that I need to make reservations on the DHCP server for some users for specific business needs. What happens is that the ASA passes the request to the DHCP server with it's own MAC address and not the MAC of the remote host.
 
Is there any way I can configure the ASA to pass the request using the hosts actual MAC address?

I have ASA 5520 with Ver 8.2.Outside interface is directly connected to ISP's router(TelePacific) and is assigned one of public IP:198.24.210.226.There are two servers inside the network with the private IP's:192.168.1.20 for DB Server, and 192.168.1.91 for Web Server.I did Static NAT 198.24.210.226 to 192.168.1.20  and 198.24.210.227 to 192.168.1.91.When I access DB Server(198.24.210.226) it's working OK but when I access Web Server(198.24.210.227) there is no response at all.I checked the inside traffic, it even did not get into the firewall.Is this the problem with ISP's router?  How can we route all of our public IP's to the outside interface(198.24.210.226)?

Currently in our environment we have have two buildings with an ASA 5520 in each and a core stack of 3750's in each building. I am currently working on a network segmentation project and am thinking of adding another stack of 3750's in each building to add more redundancy to our network. This will allow our access layer switches to have a trunk to each stack and prevent an outage if one of the links or stacks were to go down.
 
My question is how I would set this up on the ASA end of things while using a common subnet and HSRP on the 3750's. I understand how to use HSRP and STP on the switches to achieve this on the 3750 end of things. I saw you can do etherchannel on the ASA with 8.4 but how does that work in a failover situation?

I'm running a IPSec VPN between a 5520 ASA and a 2811 router. The ASA has a static IP and the router has a DHCP interface.The VPN seems to work fine once I get done clearing old SAs, but each new IPSEC SA creates a new ISAKMP SA on the router?  There are multiple subnets that need to create multiple IPSEC SAs. Eventually I can clear the older ISAKMP SAs and get all the traffic on one ISAKMP SA, but until I clear older SAs, new associations won't form. Why the router (initiator) would keep creating new ISAKMP SAs and not use an established one?  Using PSK, aggressive mode and no PFS. ASA has another dynamic crypto map with lower priority than this one. Using FQDN for identity on the router. ASA version 8.2(5) and IOS is 12.4(20)T1.
 
Must be something I'm not understanding. The ASA says no established SA and drops the new SA attempt until I clear older ISAKMP SAs out of the router. Interesting, the first few IPSec SAs form when the tunnel initially comes up. I assume the initial requests are getting cached and work immediately after the first ISAKMP SA forms, but subsequent IPSec SA attempts will fail. Once all subnets are talking with 1 ISAKMP SA, rekeys don't cause any problems. Since the router subnets have to instantiate the new IPSec SAs, this is a real pain to go through anytime the WAN/VPN fails.

Got an ASA5520 running V8.2(3) and we want to upgrade our internet bandwidth. Our ISP says OK but we need to install different physical circuit, upgrade CPE router, etc.
 
Then they say, btw your globally allocated IPs will change - this is a problem as we have Site-to-Site VPN Tunnels, IPSEC RA, etc.
 
ISP are proposing to give us a 3 month period whereby old & new IP blocks will be routed to our ASA (by means of secondary IP address on their Cisco CPE).
 
Multiple IPs on the same physical i/f on the ASA require sub-interfaces/IP Addresses/VLAN ids on my "outside" i/f.
 
Is this going to horiibly break Site-to-Site VPN Tunnesl, IPSEC remote access ?
 
Will VLANs work at all with IPSEC on the "oustide" i/f at all ?

I need to configure multiple context mode with active/standby failover solution.
 
Even after reading some Cisco documents I still can't understand if active/standby failover configuration has to be done within the admin context only or also within every single context (context-1, context-2 for example). In this case I have to allocate as failover interface a subinterface for each context (admin, context-1, context-2), right ?
 
Therefore a I have an other question: within the admin context, in a failover solution, do I have to allocate all interfaces I want to be moniotred, even though some will be used by context-1 only context and some others will be used by context-2 only context ?
 
An other question is: if active/standby failover configuration has to be done within each context, can I set regular failover within context-1 while stateful failover within context-2 ?
 
The last question is: can I use management interface within all 3 contexts ?

I have a home office with multiple VLANS/subnets  I have many VPNs that connect only a specific subnet to a specific remote offfice.  On a 5520, can I create a S2S VPN to different remote offices that have the same IP scheme, but from different home office subnets?   For example at my home office let's say I have two independant, distinct VLAN/subnets:  192.168.140.0/24 and 192.168.150.0/24.  Can I create an S2S from the 140 subnet to a remote office with a 10.10.10.0 addressing scheme and another S2S from the 150 subnet to a totally different office also with a 10.10.10.0 scheme?

how i can configure a second ssid for guest access in our environment. this is our network setup prior to this request: Internet----Firewall (not ASA)---ce520---C1131AG and CME router is also connecting to the ce520 switch. we only have two vlans: one for voice and two for data.
 
Presently, there is no vlan configured on the AP because it on broadcasting ont ssid and wireless users gets IP from a windows DHCP server on the LAN. the configuration on the ce520 switch port for the AP and other switches say access vlan is the DATA vlan which automatically becomes the native vlan for all trunk port connecting the AP and other Stiches to the network.
 
Now with this new requirement, i have made my research and i have configured the AP to broadcast both the production and the guest Vlans. The two vlans are 20-DATA and 60-Guest. I made the DATA vlan on the AP the native vlan since the poe switch is using the DATA vlan as native on the trunk ports. I configured the firewall to serve as DHCP server for the guest ssid and i have added the ip helper-address on the guest vlan interface on all switches while the windows server remains the dhcp server for the production DATA Vlan. I have confirmed that the AP, switches can ping the default gateway of the guest dhcp server which is another interface on the firewall. I can now see and connect to all broadcasted ssids but the problem is I am not getting IP addresses from both the production dhcp server and guest dhcp server when i connected to the ssid one at a time. My AP config is attached below.
 
Do i need to redesign the whole network to have a native vlan other nthan the data vlan? Does the access point need to be aware of the voice vlan? Do the native Vlan on the AP need to be in Bridge-group 1 or can i leave it in bridge-group 20?
