Cisco VPN :: RV220w Intermittently Works With QuickVPN
May 6, 2013
We are having problems with using QuickVPN to connect to our RV220W.Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. [code] The firmware version is 1.0.3.5.

I have configured the RV220W based on the user guide (which doesn't say much), created IPsec User and installed QuickVPN 1.4.1.2 on a remote computer. I launched the application filled out the login info and it connects but what's next?I can not ping any IP from the LAN attached to the remote router nor map any shared devices.I was hoping after a succesful connection to see my local IP address change to the one from the LAN I am remotely connected to...

what exactly is QuickVPN?Is it a IPSec VPN?Is it a PPTP?Is it a SSLVPN?can I resolve my local hostnames? That means, can I configure a lokal DNS Server?

I installed the RV220W Router in my office about 2 weeks ago and everything works perfectly for 3-4 days but then my connection drops out and the router must be restarted to restore connectivity. When I say the connection drops basically the internet connection drops out and my network connections drop shortly thereafter. Usually the wireless connections lose connectivity followed within a few minutes by the wired connections.
Â
Is there something in my firewall settings that could cause this issue? I have checked with my ISP to verify there are no problems on their end.

The internet on my laptop only works intermittently. After a minute or so of initial use, it stops working and when I run the troubleshooter it discovers that the default gateway is not available, and then it says that it has fixed the problem. However, after only a minute or so more, the internet once again fails. I have tried the "run>cmd>enter>ipcongfig>enter" and found that the numbers for the default gateway are the same on my laptop as for a laptop that does work.

I just bought a RV220W for my small company. I have read everywhere that this model come with 25 license for QuickVPN/IPsec.But when I tried to create all my account I had a bad surprise. The firmware tell me that the maximum number of user that I can create is 10! I dont see anywhere in the firmware where I can upgrade for another licence. I have the last firmware.

Using QuickVPN from one RV220W to another RV220W I cannot access the Webpage of the remote router. Goes to "CERTIFICATE NOT VALID" then click through that, and the the login page will not come up. Sceen flashes a hint of blue background, then turns white, then just sits there saying "Waiting for response from ???.???.QuickVPN will sucessfully connect and I can use all computers behind the router. Just cannot access the Webpage of the remote router. I can access the Webpage of the local router. Also, when I hookup using QuickVPN from an "Internet Cafe" that is using a Netgear router. I can then access the webpage on both remote routers (of course, depending on whom I QuickVPN'd into at the time).

I have called Cisco on this with no luck. They said to update my JAVA. I am currently JRE 6 Release 30 and still no luck. The Log files reveal nothing and are darn near unreadable since there is no line breaks in the log file. Have to manually edit the log to pick stuff out.

For the purpose of a remote backup between 2 QNAP NAS devices, I have setup a site to site VPN using 2 Cisco RV220W routers. Although VPN connects just fine, I can only access Network B from network A, but not the other way around. I believe it could be related to ip ranges/subnets.IPSec VPN connects successfully (IPSec SA Established)From network A I can connect to any device on network B (qnap smb, ssh, cisco web interface, printer, laptops, etc)From network B, I can ping any device on network A, I can access the cisco web interface from network A, and nothing else. If I try to access the web interface for the qnap on network A from a device in network B, no luck, it seems to hang. I also tried issuing a wget command from the qnap (ssh) on network B to fetch the web interface of the qnap on network A, and it says connected, but then hangs. I've tried lots of different settings (creating static routes, dynamic routes, changing subnets, etc), but without any luck.

My wifi connection seems to 'brown out' but not consistently. I just had comcast tech out yesterday and he said things seem good up to the cable modem.I just replaced my cisco e3000 with new cisco 4200. No problems when plugged into lan but my gut is telling me it still is in the "feed" and not the router. Anyway to track the latency of the broadband? See if if it comes and goes intermittently?

Recently been taking my Laptop installed with Win7 Pro to a Friends and was sharing his Wireless connection from Belkin ADSL2+ wireless router and notice that every now and again the wireless connection would drop out and the only way to regain a connection to the reset the router. My friends network has two laptops on it connected wirelessly with Windows XP home edition SP3, and a Desktop PC with XP also on connected to router Via Ethernet, also a Windows Home Server and XBOX 360 also connected by Ethernet, My friend since updated his laptop to Windows 7 Home Premium and is using the Wireless connection which now finds intermittent loss of connection which can only be restored by Resetting the Router. why a Router should lose connection just by connecting a Win7 laptop wirelessly or is there more to it than that.

[code] Whenever I am browsing online, every once in a while the internet just cuts out. It still says I am connected to my wifi network, but there is "limited or no connectivity." Whenever it happens, everything on the network loses its internet at the same time. In the household, there is one PC (mine), one Mac (my wife's), one iPod touch, and 2 iPhones that all connect to the wifi. The vast majority of the time, when this problem occurs, simply unplugging the router and then plugging it back in fixes the issue.Sometimes however things are different. Especially lately, I sometimes get an "IP conflict" error message. It says another device on the network is using the same IP address. Sometimes with this error simply unplugging and replugging in the router works. Sometimes the router has to be reset twice before things start working again with this error. The error doesn't happen every time the disconnect occurs, but it seems to be getting more frequent lately.Sometimes the disconnect happens when I am playing an online game that requires a constant connection to the internet. Sometimes this goes as usual, where a single router reset fixes the problem. However, sometimes this situation gets more complicated. One game in particular (League of Legends, if it matters) has this problem all of the time. When the internet disconnects while this game is playing, I do not get the "limited or no internet" warning. Instead, the computer seems to think that it is connected, and that the internet is working.
During this scenario, resetting the router once is never enough. After resetting once, the wifi reconnects and now it realizes something is wrong. After the first reset, the computer seems to "realize" something is wrong after all, and I am connected to the network but this time with the "limited or no internet" warning. A second router reset after this usually fixes the problem.Last night the worst disconnect happened yet. It was in the middle of a game, and the internet cut out, with no warning on the network. After one router reset, the wifi network reconnected immediately with an "IP address conflict" error, and then I was connected with "limited or no internet" on the network. I did the second router reset as usually required, but nothing happened. After a second and a third reset, there was still a permanent "limited or no internet" warning.I tried hardlining in directly to the modem and there was still no internet. Running the network diagnostic on my laptop fixed it however and I was connected to the internet. However, wifi still would not work, even after trying the diagnostic again. Running the diagnostic came up with an error that the DNS server was not responding and so nothing could be done. This time I reset everything. Unplugged both the router and the modem and left them unplugged for 30 minutes. When I turned everything else on again, same issue. Connected to the wifi network, but "limited or no internet." I unplugged everything again, left them overnight, and this morning after plugging everything back in the internet was back.A few final points I think might be relevant:
1) When checking the system event logs, it's usually a DNS error that I get (see event logs, 1st attachment).
2) This disconnect error seems to be more prevalent when more devices are on the network. As I said, they have gotten more frequent lately, especially the IP conflict warnings, since the 2 iPhones were added a few weeks ago. 5 months ago when it was only my PC on the network, these issues were practically non-existent.
3) It's a Belkin wireless g-plus router. Model # F5D7231-4 version 1213. It is an older router.
4) This has been happening for almost a year, but just recently gotten so bad I have to get this fixed, especially after last nights that could not be reset no matter what.
5) I'm not sure the disconnects have ever happened why the PC is not connected. That may not be relevant however, because my PC is almost always on since I work from home, while the iPhones, iPod touch, and my wife's Mac are only connected periodically.
6) This error has occurred while my PC is the only device connected to the wifi network, but it seems much less frequent.
7) The time the error seems most likely to occur is when another device connects to the network, such as when my wife first gets home from work. This is not exclusive however, and the DC's can happen at any time.
I've seen that people want ping tests and ipconfig /all tests so I will post mine. I will edit my post with the same tests done the next time this dc happens. I've also included a screenshot of that xirrus wifi program. [code]

We have a Cisco ASA and recently purchased a cisco small business srp527 router. It is connected to our ADSL2 connection and is working fine. I have configured the device with an ipsec tunnel using an ike profile and the tunnel is created successfully with packets traversing the tunnel. However packets are being dropped intermittently, with no cause. The link is currently not being utilised, there is no load on the network however when I ping Google and any address subject to the rules of the tunnel i notice that a single packet is dropped every now and then.

We just upgraded from 8.2.4 to 8.2.5.20 on each firewall. The Primary and Secondary work when they are standalone but, when we connect the fail over link from the Primary to the Secondary, invariably, one of them will go into a constant boot cycle and one will be active but, external users will be intermittently dropped. As soon as we unplug the fail over, the firewall that stays up behaves normally. This is with 8.2.5.20 code or any other code for that matter?

VPN tunnel between ASA 5520 ver 8.0(4) and a remote Juniper firewall keep tearing down during Phase 1 rekeying. After the rekeying process fails, manually pinging one of the remote hosts that are proteced behind the Juniper firewall, initates the tunnel renegoation and rebuilds the tunnel successfully.
Â
When the tunnel is down, sh crypto isakmp sa shows no active SA for the remote peer. That indicates the PHASE 1 negotation had indeed failed. When the tunnel is working, sh crypto isakmp sa indicates an IKE role of Responder - always.Clearly that also means Phase 1 negotation works only one way, i.e. negotation initated by the remote Juniper unit only.
 Â
Interestingly, the Syslog server logged the following SNMP trap messages at the time rekeying Phase1.Note, Line#2 and #7 and wrapped to the next line for easy of reading.
 Â
Line#1:Â Â IP = Remote-Peer-IP-#, Starting phase 1 rekey
Line#2:Â Â IP = Remote-Peer-IP-#, IKE Initiator: Rekeying Phase 1, Intf outside,
IKE Peer Remote-Peer-IP-# local Proxy Address N/A, remote Proxy Address N/A, Crypto map (N/A)
Line#3:Â Â IP = Remote-Peer-IP-#, constructing ISAKMP SA payload
[code]...
Â
As I understand from the above syslog trap, the Responder ( the ASA unit this time) started Phase 1 rekey (Line #1). It prepare a message to be sent to IKE Initiator, that it is about to start rekeying Phase 1 (Line #2). Down on the next line, it indicated that the local Proxy, remote Proxy and Crypto map as N/A ( not avaiable). Why would the ASA unit send N/A message as shown in Line#2, is that normal?

my laptop (asus) has been having issues with my WiFi. On startup, the laptop will (usually) connect to the internet fine, but after a few minutes, usually without any specific cause, it will disconnect from the internet, and the toolbar indicator will go from full signal (full bars) to no bars and a yellow triangle, saying limited access. When I try to reconnect, it will say "connecting" for a few seconds and then will say "cannot connect". I have to leave it for a few minutes every time before it will randomly reconnect until the next incident... My other two pc's (one Windows 7 and one Windows xp) do not have this issue, but sometimes other wireless devices in the house (iphone, ipad) will have a problem where the WiFi indicator will show full bars but I will not have internet access. I have to disconnect and reconnect in order for it to work. Again, it happens sporadically with no obvious cause...

We recently moved and upgraded our internet service from 1.5 Mbps to 4Mbps with CenturyLink. However, since our service was activated last Thursday, the internet connection intermittently drops and will not recover unless I reboot the modem. The period of up-time will last anywhere between fifteen seconds to several hours, usually falling along the five-to-ten minute range. No difference when using ethernet/wifi. The DSL light stays on, and the Internet light remains on as well.

Ok so my internet connection has recently started disconnecting and reconnecting every 5 mins or so. It has never done this before and has started doing it out of the blue. It doesn't even appear to have cut out by the icon at the bottom but it does stuff like stop youtube videos from loading or when I am playing online poker or online gaming it will cut out for about 30 seconds before reconnecting again.

I've been having a problem with my wifi connection.I give my neighbor $15 a month to use his connection, so I have no control over the router.I'll be surfing along or just checking mail or whatever and out of the blue my connection stops. A little yellow triangle "warning" sign covers the signal strength meter in the lower right corner. If I click on the signal meter, up pops the list of wireless connections available to me and says that I'm connected, (but I'm not). So I go to the network and sharing center and sometimes this alone will restart the signal but usually I have to run the troubleshooter and the signal will come back with no explanation of what the problem is.While in the network and sharing center, my connection to the router looks clear and connected but shows a red X over the connection between the router and Internet.

The old 615 has been working very well for some years now, but the last couple of days we have had to turn it off and on again to get internet. It has happened 3 times in the last 24 hours. The globe light on the router remains green, and the notification icon on windows 7 doesn't show any problems yet we cant connect to the web. I've been looking on the forum and trying to understand some of the solutions and checklists already posted, but they don't make a whole load of sense to me unfortunately.
The firmware on the router is 2.27. The only change I have made to the system is that my wife's lan card seems to have died a death last week, and her computer is now connected by wireless. My computer is now the only one connected to the router by a lan cable.
There is something I don't understand. Under setup / network there is a dhcp reservations section. Pretty much every device seems to have a reserved IP address, and some of the devices that are reserved we no longer own. My son does gaming and wants a constant IP address, and my computer might need a permanent IP (don't know - just guessing here). Should all the other computers be allowed to sort themselves an IP every time they log on? Most of the devices have expires never, and some of the devices have the blue link that I can click for revoke and reserve with a time by them.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here and this lot has nothing to do with the dropping connection? What do the revoke / reserve and times mean? What happens when the lease runs out? Will the connection drop on that computer and it will have to try and connect itself again, or does it start a new lease every time it logs on to the router?

We're running Cisco Secure ACS V5.1 on a Linux platform to manage remote access to many networking devices. This has not been in place long, and is generally working OK. However, whenever I set the parameters of the user authentication to 'disable user account after X days if password was not changed', so as to comply with our internal security regulations, the user IDs seem to disable themselves intermittently, irrespective of whatever number of days I put in this - this can be a couple of days after re-enabling, or just a few minutes.
Â
This can be found in the advanced tab here: System Administration > Users > Authentication Settings. In the mean time, we are having to set the user authentication to be non-expiry. Is this a known fault with this version of software? If so, would there be a patch available, and how would I go about obtaining it?

The NetvigatorGateway is locatet at my home and also distributing IP-TV. I am trying to setup VPN with WRVS4400N and Quick VPN on client side. I am fairly new to VPN and did some research and looked through the manual but can't seem to get it to work so far and from what I noticed many people are having this problem.
Â
Basically it gives the "Failed to establish connection" generic error, shows it almost instantly. It also showed the certificate error before but then I read about putting it in the installation directory and it stopped showing it, and whats strange is later I removed it but it doesnt show the error any longer, so don't know if its caching it somewhere or what can be going on...
Â
In effort to look for answer and test things out I tried to connect to another location and setup a WRV200 router, I also get the same error but not instantly, it even shows "Activating Policy" but then doesn't go farther and shows the generic error. Also with this setup strangly it always shows the certificate error, no matter if I put one in directory or not... Even tried to name it as the WRVS4400N certificate name...
Â
Anyway VPN IPSec is disabled, and Client Accounts are configured and changed password several times to make sure its correct, VPN Passthrough enabled on all 3 options. I tried to disable Windows Router, I also have a router in place do I possibly need to open some type of ports for the QuickVPN client?

I have a server in a DMZ behind the ASA, connections to this server work sometimes and then fail others, so I dont think i'm looking at an ACL or NAT problem here. The syslogs report a SYN Timeout,I have taken a trace on the ASA, it seems that a SYN-ACK does come from the destination server within the 30sec timeout, but its not passed through the ASA back to the source ? Â there is one odd thing, what seems to be an out of sequence ACK from the destination which arrives before the SYN-ACK at the ASA, i'm wondering if this might be the problem ? This only occurs on the connections which fail, the connections that work, the destination responds quickly to the initial SYN, and the 3way handshake completes.

I am able to VPN with all machines, but randomly the VPN will disconnect all users. I know there is a setting that may fix this which I think I tested in the past and it did not work, but I have now forgotten it.Â
