I installed the RV220W Router in my office about 2 weeks ago and everything works perfectly for 3-4 days but then my connection drops out and the router must be restarted to restore connectivity. When I say the connection drops basically the internet connection drops out and my network connections drop shortly thereafter. Usually the wireless connections lose connectivity followed within a few minutes by the wired connections.
Â
Is there something in my firewall settings that could cause this issue? I have checked with my ISP to verify there are no problems on their end.
For eight months we have not had any problems with our new WRVS4400N (V2.0.2.1) connected to a Verizon/Westell 6500 to provide DSL internet for our network with DHCP on our server... No changes have been made to the router or modem since initial setup; but, then it started -- Our internet connection would drop intermittently. Sometimes every 5 or 10 minutes - sometimes every hour. Verizon has tested the lines which came up ok, then they sent a tech who changed the wire pair coming into the building for the DSL line and retested the lines which again came up ok, then they provided us with a new modem (now a Verizon/Westell 7500). After all that, the DSL still connects then disconnects intermittently. I am now wondering if the issue lies with the WRVS4400N.
I'm on firmware 1.0.0.26 and I'm seeing frequent drops in the WAN connection. Most network clients don't notice the drop because it reconnects, but the X11 windows server running over a VPN drops the session and I have to re-establish it. Also, at the same time I experience a 15-20 second silence gap on my VoIP phone connected to vonage (not over VPN). Never happened on my Linksys router, but it happens many times a day on the rv220w. When the drop happens I get the errors listed below in the router log: Â Fri Apr 15 09:53:21 2011(EDT) [rv220w][System][PLATFORM] platformHandleDBUpdate:dot11STA op=18 row=1Fri Apr 15 09:53:21 2011(EDT) [rv220w][System][PLATFORM] /pfrm2.0/bin/bwLimitConfig /tmp/system.db 18 dot11STA 1 failed. status=-1Fri Apr 15 09:53:21 2011(EDT) [rv220w][System][EVTDSPTCH] umiIoctl (18, UMI_CMD_DB_UPDATE(4)) failed. table=dot11STA row=1Fri Apr 15 09:53:23 2011(EDT) [rv220w][Kernel][KERNEL] ERROR:endChantRecv: protocol PNAC returned !OKFri Apr 15 09:53:23 2011(EDT) [rv220w][Kernel][KERNEL] ERROR:endChantRecv: protocol PNAC returned !OKFri Apr 15 09:53:34 2011(EDT) [rv220w][System][PLATFORM] platformHandleDBUpdate:dot11STA op=9 row=1Fri Apr 15 09:53:35 2011(EDT) [rv220w][System][PLATFORM] /pfrm2.0/bin/bwLimitConfig /tmp/system.db 9 dot11STA 1 failed. status=-1Fri Apr 15 09:53:35 2011(EDT) [rv220w][System][EVTDSPTCH] umiIoctl (18, UMI_CMD_DB_UPDATE(4)) failed. table=dot11STA row=1

We recently moved and upgraded our internet service from 1.5 Mbps to 4Mbps with CenturyLink. However, since our service was activated last Thursday, the internet connection intermittently drops and will not recover unless I reboot the modem. The period of up-time will last anywhere between fifteen seconds to several hours, usually falling along the five-to-ten minute range. No difference when using ethernet/wifi. The DSL light stays on, and the Internet light remains on as well.
I have a WAG160N v2 and a UK Online broadbad account, windows xp. The connection intermittmently drops out, approx 15-30 times per day. I have spoken to my ISP and had the line checked (no packet loss issue), checked the settings on the router against my ISP and also updated the router firmware all with no improvement.
When our DSL modem drops its connection, even momentarily, the RV220W requires a power cycle before the computers on the LAN can browse again. When I connect to the router, the WAN Information displays the word Connecting, rather than Connected. Â We have a DSL modem connected to the router, the router connected to an ethernet switch, and our small business pc's connected to the switch. Â Firmware on the router is 1.0.4.17
We are having problems with using QuickVPN to connect to our RV220W.Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. [code] The firmware version is 1.0.3.5.
FSD 7632-4 Router.Have this 2006 router which has started dropping the connection and/or slowing it down intermittently. Before I replace it, would like to update the firmware. Have downloaded the update but cannot log-in on the setup utility page as I cannot remeber my password (apparently it is not set to blank!).
My Linksys Router WRT54G has recently (yesterday) started dropping the internet after being online for a few hours. The current setup has been in place for several years. Â I started with the Broadband provider and they verified that the signal and cable modem is working properly. Â My own tests back this up. At first I simply reset the router. Â Unplugged it for 30 seconds and plugged it back in. Â Internet is back. Â Then I tried resetting the cable modem and the router. Â This works as well but the problem presists. Resetting the router alone has the same affect. So, something with the router is causing it to drop the internet. Â The network does not drop however. Â I can still use my network drive and the computers indicate a network with no internet connection.
I'm an IT professional with more than 10 years experience. I have spent last 5 days trying to figure out why the wifi connection to this router is so slow, but still no luck. I'm getting only 13Mbps even if my laptop is next to the router! (wired connection worked ok) Â I have tried all sort of setting combinations, 2.4GHz/5GHz; N only/ G,N Mixed;Â Auto/20MHz bandwidth; different channels; WPA2 encrypted vs open; disable firewall; wmm enabled/disabled; 1.0.0.26/1.0.1.0 firmware... no matter what I try, I always get only 10 - 15Mbps speed. Â Once I replace this router with my old router, it worked perfectly --- getting 70 - 80Mbps with exactly the same testing environment and configuration. Â I really expect this router to offer much faster wireless speed according to this review: [URL]
My ISP provides IPv6 connectivity in the form of dual stack IPv4/IPv6 with DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation. Using a Cisco IOS-based router I managed to make such a connection by using as a template the Cisco IOS configuration file that my ISP has posted as an example in the following link: Â [URL] Â The main point on this configuration is a PPPoE connection with: Â interface Dialer46 ipv6 address autoconfig default ipv6 enable
[Code]..... Â configure this router according the Cisco IOS configuration file I linked on the top in order to have a working IPv6 connection?
We bought a RV220W in order to get a VPN in our Small Business. The RV220W will only be used to let clients connect to it and not a tunnel between another VPN box.We could use QuickVPN, but it won't be working in our case, because in order to use QuickVPN, the router wants to change its IP 10.x.y.1. Because we have multiple servers/services that are using a static IP, it would be quite painful to change the subnet. Therefore, we would like to stay on the same subnet and change it in worst case scenario only. This is why QuickVPN is not an option here.We could use SSL VPN, but most of our clients who will connect to the VPN are using Windows 7 x64. I have tried the Windows 7 x64 fix told in the latest firmware release notes, but I can't get it to work on my computer, which is a Win7 x64. It might still be broken. Many of them are not very tech-savyy, so I can't tell them to use a virtual machine to connect. We want a secure connection, therefore IPSec is better than PPTP. I've been trying to setup IPSec for the past hours but I can't get it working. At first, I wanted to use an SSL certificate, but having no luck with this, I switched to a Pre-shared Key (PSK) in order to get things simpler. Eventually I would like to use an SSL certificate, however I would like to get PSK working first to confirm that the IPSec connection is working. Â I have attached with this post, screenshots of the IKE and VPN Policies. I have used the VPN Wizard in order to complete these fields. The local identifier is the WAN DynDNS FQDN. However, as for the remote FQDN, there should be none really, because clients are connecting to it, so the RV220W won't know in advance who's connecting and from where. I have read that when using the Responder type, the remote settings should not matter. Also, the PSK is 25 caracters long. After setting the RV220W up, I have set up a L2TP/IPSec VPN connection on my Windows 7Â. I have set up the connection to connect to the DynDNS address and set up the PSK in the Advanced settings. After I typed my IPSec username and password to connect (which was created in the IPSec users section), Windows tries to connect and times out : Â Error 789 : The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer. Â At the same time on the RV220W, this error shows up in the logs : Â 2012-08-26 23:45:24: [rv220w][IKE] ERROR:Â Could not find configuration for 24.54.xx.xx[500] Â I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I've read the Administration manual quite a few times and it seems that I have followed everything by the book.I have tried to enable/disable my Windows firewall, but did not get any luck. The RV220W is located at a remote office, to make sure that I can connect from the outside, before you think that I'm trying to connect to the outside, from the inside I have changed few settings in the IKE policy to try to make it work. Settings such as the Exchange Mode, because I've read that the Aggressive mode had issues. At this moment, the settings are back to default, once the wizard has been run. I'm thinking about setting a PPTP to confirm that this works, then move up to IPSec PSK, then to IPSec SSL Certificate.
I've got trouble using PPTP connections with the RV220W small business router. When trying to connect to the router of a branch office with the Windows PPTP client (i.e. on Windows 7) from outside the companies network first everything seems to be in working order (user name and password are checked, the device is registered in the remote subnet) but then a window pops up saying there has been an error connecting. Â Here is some information on my setup:RV220W with firmware 1.0.3.5It connects to the Internet using PPPoE dialindyndns account configured and workingAnother router working in "Act as a DSL modem" mode is used as a modem (AVM FRITZ!Box 7170)The RV220W is maintaining a IPSec tunnel to a main office, which is working finethere are 2 local VLANs (one with access to VPN tunnel, one without), each with a own subnet (192.168.201.0/24 and 192.168.202.0/24)PPTP users are on a seperate subnet (192.168.203.101 - 192.168.203.111)Â My first guess was, that the intermediate router acting as the modem could be a problem, but i verified all settings on that router and it should not filter anything. After all port forwardings, the IPSec tunnel and so on are working.
I am not able to establish a PTPP connection with my iPhone over WAN. When I am in my local Wireless LAN it works nice using the external FQDN of the RV220W. But when I test the VPN access over 3G (meaning I am coming in over the WAN port) I get and error message that the connection to the PPP server could not be established. Â Some more Info
- Running latest firmware - Port 1723 is open to the Internet - ISP doesn't filter anything - No Firewall settings blocking anything at the moment - Nothing in the logs indicating what the problem is  So what needs to be done here to get it running over the WAN port and not only over the LAN ports?
My RV220W is sitting behind a Dynalink RTA1046VW ADSL Modem. Â Can't get the RV220W to detect an internet connection through the WAN port. Have got the PPPoE profile set up etc. Have tried the Dynalink in bridging mode, but to no success. Tried the setup wizard. Â Firmware is current: v1.0.2.4. The connection is picked up ok through the ethernet ports.
I'm wondering if it's possible to setup SSL VPN connection via OPEN VPN client?I'm a Mac OS 1.7 user with Tunnelblick. Â I tried to use "built-in" SSL VPN Tunnel client but unfortunately it's not working - during installation Java exception appears saying that either I don't have admin privileges or there is not enough space.. Of course I'm admin and there is plenty of space...
I'd like to enable client to router VPN connections. I have a question how to make any sucessful VPN connection to RV220W. From all the tests I made only SSL VPN on Windows XP x86 client machine was working.  For IPSec VPN I always receive this message: [rv220w][IKE] ERROR: Could not find configuration for XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX[500]. I tried with windows and shrewsoft vpn client.  Can't make SSL VPN to work in Windows 7 x64 client because the drivers are not digitally signed. It only works in Windows XP x86 but this is not acceptable. I need universal solution for win clients.  I also need working solution for Android Phone? Router firmware 1.0.3.5. I also tried this step by step guide. No go.
i'm having problems connecting to my RV220W using PPTP. The first time I set up PPTP on the box, everything worked just fine. Now, however, PPTP just won't work. No matter how I try to tweak various settings on the router, the connection fails. I have tried connecting with Windows 7, Android and OSX with no success. The router came with version 1.0.1.0, and I have tried downgrading to 1.0.0.26 and upgrading to 1.0.3.5, but alas, I can't seem to make PPTP work again.
i have try to make a IPSec VPN Connection from my iPhone to my RV220W. Â On the iPhone i get the message "The VPN Server was not found". Â It is possible to make a IPSec Connection or only a PPTP ?
I was wondering if anyone has seen their VPN User Connection Status Table empty even though you know for sure clients are connected? I connect with my iPhone to the PPTP VPN successfully and it works fine but there's no entry for the connection on the VPN User Connection Status Table. Is that normal? Does the router only collect data about Windows clients?
We have RV220W at corporate office...intent is to have (5) groups of (3) users each connecting via VPN. Had assumed would be using QuickVPN and have set up users, etc and connections at current locations are quick, smooth, reliable. I have set up (2) locations (6 users so far). However, after 4th connection (no matter where or in what order) client hangs at "Verifying Network" and doesn't complete connection. So, I have unique usernames, etc but each of the (3) at a location are hitting the router with the same IP. Is this the problem? I'm sure the RV220W can handle 15 simultaneous connections, but can the router deal with (3) connections from the same external IP?
Recently i bought a Cisco RVS4000, upgraded the firmware to latest stable release (Firmware Version: V2.0.2.7) and started configuring it.Yesterday i found out that as the dsl connection drops (i'm using PPPoE with an ethernet ADSL Modem) the product stops logging, both locally and to an external configured syslog (which resides on a linux box over the LAN).
how can i solve this error: Â Tue Nov 27 10:55:40 2012(CET) [rv120w][Kernel][KERNEL] ERROR:endChantRecv: protocol PNAC returned !OK Tue Nov 27 10:55:40 2012(CET) [rv120w][Kernel][KERNEL] ERROR:endChantRecv: protocol PNAC returned !OK Tue Nov 27 10:55:40 2012(CET) [rv120w][Kernel][KERNEL] ERROR:endChantRecv: protocol PNAC returned !OK Tue Nov 27 10:55:40 2012(CET) [rv120w][Kernel][KERNEL] ERROR:endChantRecv: protocol PNAC returned !OK Tue Nov 27 10:55:45 2012(CET) [rv120w][Kernel][KERNEL] ERROR:endChantRecv: protocol PNAC returned !OK
[code].... Â i have a wireless device and every 1 hours the connection drops and i must reboot the device
I have wireless router F5D9230-4. I use this every day to connect to my employer's corporate network from my home, using a VPN connection via Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client.
Just about every day my VPN connection is interrupted and, although it "thinks" it is connected, it loses connectivity to my company's corporate resources. This occurs even though I'm connected to my router using a Cat5 cable. While this VPN connection is lost, my Internet connection keeps working.
When I use the same computer, even wireless, connected through other networks outside of my home, the VPN connection is never lost (or at least never that I remember).
When I wire my computer directly to my cable modem, this problem does not occur and my VPN connection stays connected throughout the day.
Note that I reset my wireless router to all default settings other than the password to access its management utility, to avoid any "weird settings" coming into play.
I wonder if this has to do with "VPN Passthrough" or the windows 7 firewall conflicting with my router's firewall?
I've been working with the IT department at my job for weeks on this and a resolution doesn't seem to be coming from that direction. I'm on calls every day that use this VPN connection and it's to the point where these VPN connection losses are embarrassing to me.
I have recently purchased a Belkin n300 wireless N router. The problem is, I have to reboot the thing numerous times throughout the day to allow a client to connect to it via wireless. One client will be connected and then drop, or a client will be connected, and I cannot connect another device. I also had an issue with streaming over wireless for netflix on my devices and the only way I could get it to work was to turn off the firewall, what the hek.... This is crap. I knew I should not have bought a belkin router again. Had one years ago and it constantly gave me issues. Had my Linksys Wrt54G for years with no problems until it finally crapped out. Anyways, my firmware version is the latest version according o the website.
Recently been taking my Laptop installed with Win7 Pro to a Friends and was sharing his Wireless connection from Belkin ADSL2+ wireless router and notice that every now and again the wireless connection would drop out and the only way to regain a connection to the reset the router. My friends network has two laptops on it connected wirelessly with Windows XP home edition SP3, and a Desktop PC with XP also on connected to router Via Ethernet, also a Windows Home Server and XBOX 360 also connected by Ethernet, My friend since updated his laptop to Windows 7 Home Premium and is using the Wireless connection which now finds intermittent loss of connection which can only be restored by Resetting the Router. why a Router should lose connection just by connecting a Win7 laptop wirelessly or is there more to it than that.
My RVS 4000 v1 router firmware version 1.3.0.5 has been intermittently going off-line ... a reset of the power resolves the issue temporarly. My plan was to update the firmware but I haven't been able to download an uncorrupted version of the firmware file on the Cisco support site. The file downloads as a zip file but the winzip program says that the file is not in a valid zip format and cannot open it.
My internet connection seems to drop offline randomely while surfing the net. It basically results in yahoo or google freezing for 20-60 seconds before unfreezing and running flawlessly again. I seen a previous post that requested the individual hit start, run, cmd, and enter tracert google.com.
Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 Intel® Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
The old 615 has been working very well for some years now, but the last couple of days we have had to turn it off and on again to get internet. It has happened 3 times in the last 24 hours. The globe light on the router remains green, and the notification icon on windows 7 doesn't show any problems yet we cant connect to the web. I've been looking on the forum and trying to understand some of the solutions and checklists already posted, but they don't make a whole load of sense to me unfortunately.
The firmware on the router is 2.27. The only change I have made to the system is that my wife's lan card seems to have died a death last week, and her computer is now connected by wireless. My computer is now the only one connected to the router by a lan cable.
There is something I don't understand. Under setup / network there is a dhcp reservations section. Pretty much every device seems to have a reserved IP address, and some of the devices that are reserved we no longer own. My son does gaming and wants a constant IP address, and my computer might need a permanent IP (don't know - just guessing here). Should all the other computers be allowed to sort themselves an IP every time they log on? Most of the devices have expires never, and some of the devices have the blue link that I can click for revoke and reserve with a time by them.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here and this lot has nothing to do with the dropping connection? What do the revoke / reserve and times mean? What happens when the lease runs out? Will the connection drop on that computer and it will have to try and connect itself again, or does it start a new lease every time it logs on to the router?
My F5D8231-4 (N1 Wireless Router) keeps shutting down its wireless broadcast. If I reset back to factory settings it comes back on but then I have to setup again.
I have a server in a DMZ behind the ASA, connections to this server work sometimes and then fail others, so I dont think i'm looking at an ACL or NAT problem here. The syslogs report a SYN Timeout,I have taken a trace on the ASA, it seems that a SYN-ACK does come from the destination server within the 30sec timeout, but its not passed through the ASA back to the source ? Â there is one odd thing, what seems to be an out of sequence ACK from the destination which arrives before the SYN-ACK at the ASA, i'm wondering if this might be the problem ? This only occurs on the connections which fail, the connections that work, the destination responds quickly to the initial SYN, and the 3way handshake completes.
