Cisco WAN :: 1921 - Route Between VPN Tunnels

Jul 7, 2011

I have a Cisco 1921 and it has 2 VPN IP-sec site-to-site tunnels up and running. Lets say the tunnels goes from the Cisco to Site A and Site B.

Now i want Site A to reach Site B through the existing tunnels. I'm guessing that static routes maybe the answer but i cant seem to get it working.

The LAN networks is as follows:
Cisco: 192.168.15.0/24Site A: 192.168.0.0/24Site B: 10.27.27.0/24

At Site A i have set up a static route as follows:
Traffic destined for 10.27.27.0/24 Go to gateway 192.168.15.1 (the default gateway of Cisco LAN)

At Site B i have set up a static route as follows:
Traffic destined for 192.168.0.0/24 Go to gateway 192.168.15.1 (the default gateway of Cisco LAN)

Cisco WAN :: 1921 - Route Table Error

Sep 30, 2012

We have Cisco 1921 routers that a provider is using for MPLS. They have it configured so that all internet trafic is passed to an internal ip address that is our proxy server. However, they are pushing all of the routing rules down to the workstation which is causing the local route tables to grow to be massive in a very short time.

For example, the second I ping a website, the ip address is resolved and then the route is added for the source ip address with the default gateway of the proxy server.

Is this normal? I would have thought that all the rules would have been handled by the router and let it keep the table entries.

Cisco VPN :: 1921-SEC (ISR) / How To Push Route To Client 5.0.x / Change To TCP

Apr 20, 2011

We are using a CISCO1921-SEC (ISR) with IOS 15.1 and we configured a "crypto isakmp client configuration group". We can connect with the "Cisco System VPN Client Version 5.0.07.0410" via IPSec/UDP.

1. Is it possible to push routing informations to the System running the VPN Client ? A the moment all traffic is routed to the tunnel but we like only one route to the network permitted with "pool ..." in the "crypto isakmp client configuration group NAME" section.

2. We searched for changing from upd connection to tcp connection via special port. Is it possible with IOS 15.1 on the CISCO1921-SEC ? Is there something possible like "iskamp ipsec-over-tcp port 10000" ?

Cisco WAN :: 1841 Unable To Route Public IPs On 1921 ISR

Jun 16, 2011

I've got an existing Cisco 1841 connecting to a 10Mbps Internet Leased line. With my current setup I've configured PAT for internet access for my users, and we also have some servers on site which are assigned public ip addresses, these can be accessed from the internet. Now we have procured a Cisco 1921 ISR to replace the old 1841, when I connect the 1921 with an identical configuration in place of the old router, 2 things happen.

1) The users accessing the net via the nat are able to work without any inconvenience (good)

2) My servers which have public IP addresses are unable to reach the internet and subsequently I am unable to reach them via the internet (very bad)

Cisco WAN :: 1921 OSPF To Two Routers Sending Default Route From Failover

May 28, 2013

Have a 1921 that has 3 eth connections (1 LAN, and 2 WAN) - I have 2 seperate OSPF processes (2 areas) on the WAN Ints - both upstream WAN's are sending defaults back to the 1921, and the 1921 is sending it's LAN range to them.

I have ip ospf cost 150 set on the "failover" WAN connection interface (Both on the 1921 and upstream), but the 1921 is preferring the default route from the "failover"?

The default routes are both being received by the 1921, but it's preferring the "failover" Int with the ip ospf cost 150 configured?

Cisco WAN :: 1921 Won't Pass Traffic?

Jul 9, 2011

I can telnet to the router and ping places on the inside and outside. However when I connect a laptop to the inside interface I can ping to the outside for a bit but can't open a web page and then connectivity is gone all together. At first I thought it was a NAT issue but I know I am good on that front. I have attempted to change the speeds and duplex settings on the outside interface but it does not seem to work. Again if I take the cable from the outside interface and plug it into a laptop it works fine. The thing that makes me wonder is why can I connect to the outside interface and configure it just fine?

I have Active Directory setup on the 192.168.1.0 network. When I attempt to join the domain from 192.168.5.0 it joins but I get errors. After some troubleshooting using portqry I have found that the services related to class map DomainTrafficUDP are being reported by portqry as being filtered regardless of policy map settings (currently set to allow).

Cisco WAN :: 1921 - Traffic Control / Packet Priority And Bandwidth Limit

Nov 29, 2011

We have 3 sets of applications. The first does not require much bandwidth but is very critical, the other two is more bandwidth consuming but less critical. I would like to know if it's possible to reflect this priorities on the router configuration. Is it possible to set the ports 10000, 10001 and 10002 of the external IP have higher priority to be handled, for example? Also, is it possible to limit the bandwidth that goes through a set of ports?

I must prevent the 2 sets of less critical applications to strugle the critical ones. What router can provide this capabilities? Is the 1921 able to do this job?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3825 ISR - Traffic Route From Switch Port To Router Port

Jun 5, 2013

I'm fairly new to Cisco products am in the process of developing my network knowledge on a deeper level.  I have a 3825 with a HWIC-4ESW and I'm struggling to fully understand how the two "see" each other.  I've setup a V LAN with a layer 3 address on the HWIC and added the switch ports to it.  This seemed to allow devices connected to the switch ports to talk to the built-in router ports.  I thought this was all making sense until i applied an access-list to the router port.  It's a simple ACL i'm just using for testing and the only thing it does is blocks telnet from anywhere.  I know the ACL is setup properly because if I connect a device directly to the router port i cannot telnet to the port.  However, if i connect a device to one of the switch ports, i am able to telnet to the router port successfully.

It seems that I'm missing something with how traffic flows from the switch port to the router ports and how the two "see" each other.

Cisco WAN :: 2821 / Route FTP Down One T1 And All Other TCP Traffic Down Another T1

Apr 19, 2010

I have a 2821 router with two T1 WICs and have the need to route FTP down one T1 and all other TCP traffic down another T1. All traffic is going to the same remote IP address. The remote sites are in different states, and I assume that the remote subnet is being bridged between the states. It's kind of a weird set up, but it's not my design.

Anyway, can I use a route map to split off FTP traffic to host A and send it down one T1 and have the rest of the IP traffic to host A go down the other T1?  I also need to be able to have all traffic use one T1 in case the other T1 goes down.

My first thought was to static all IP down T1-1, then route map FTP traffic down T1-2, then have a floating static for all IP traffic down T1-2 with a higher metric. But something would have to track the T1 interfaces and I'm not sure if route maps or static routes can do that.  Any thoughts on this?

I still have PIX and ASA on both sides and I was trying to do that over VPN tunnel but I can't ping VPN tunnel gateway( basicly what was next hoop in GRE) on the other end ( which is the main problem why I can't route traffic to remote site). I was wondering if I can still do the same thing over VPN tunnel that I did with GRE tunnel.

Cisco WAN :: 857 - How To Route Traffic Over Remote Location Internet

Nov 18, 2011

I have a customer which has a main location office and a remote one. Recently we interconnect their facilities using a local ISP service called Virtual Connectivity, which basically is a private network which can be accessed over aDSL or any other data circuit. They are using Cisco 888 routers to interconnect both sites. At the main site the customer also has an Internet circuit (with a Cisco 857 router)and he wants to remove the Internet circtuit from the remote site and provide them access over their main location Internet circuit. At the primary offices, we installed Cisco 2811 router as a gateway to route the Internet and remote network traffic over the required data circuit. Everything is working fine, but we can not access Internet from the remote location over the circuit installed a the main site. I understand this is a routing issue, since the traffic hits the main office network it does not knows how to reach the Internet. I am assuming this routing must be set into the main office Cisco 888 router (installed by the ISP to interconnect to their private cloud) in order to properly route it over the Internet circuit.Since I already have access over the Internet router and the gateway router at the main site, but not into the ISP router, is there any other way I can make this configurtion over the routers I already have access?

Cisco WAN :: 1941 / K9 / How To Route Internet Traffic Through MPLS

Nov 22, 2011

I am working for a company based in Sydney Australia, the company recently open an office in London UK, therefore we are going to get leased lined based on MPLS.We were advised that Customer Edge router will be CISCO1941/K9. We want to our UK client to access our web-based applications via MPLS network instead of internet. The UK office is using BT Business ADSL with 5 Static IP address (please note the modem IP address is actually dynamic), we are going to get a Cisco 857/K9 router which will be used for the entry for the UK client to access the MPLS network. My question will be how do I configure the Cisco 857 router to allow one of the public ip to access the MPLS network. It appears that there are two options, and I am not sure if this is going to work or which one is working better. I have attached two diagrams for clarification of my case.

Option 1 Cisco WAN interface get Dynamic IP (PPPoA) from BT LAN Interface (4 Port) get the assigned 5 Static IP addresses One of the five IPs (217.xx.xx.169) will be assigned to the FE1 (Cisco 1941), any traffic to 217.xx.xx.169 will be routed to the WAN interface of Cisco 1941 to access Sydney service (located in Sydney LAN, mostly http and https traffic) One of the five IPs to 217.xx.xx.170 will be assigned to the WAN interface of Sonicwall Firewall Router which also serve as Internet Access Gateway for LAN users, All trafiic destined for Sydney LAN will be using FE0 (Cisco 1941) as gateway

Option 2Cisco WAN interface get Dynamic IP (PPPoA) from BT LAN Interface (4 Port) will get 192.168.0.1, Cisco 857 router will be the default gateway for LAN users, using one to many NAT, also one to one NAT, One of the five IPs (217.xx.xx.169) will be forwarded to the FE0 (Cisco 1941), any traffic to 217.xx.xx.169 will be routed to the WAN interface of Cisco 1941 to access Sydney service (located in Sydney LAN, mostly http and https traffic)

However, it works with Cisco/Linksys RV042.
