Is it possible to bond two T1 lines for increased throughput and for possible failover situations? I currently have the second T1 as just a fail over.

Cisco WAN :: 1841 / Low Throughput Using MLP Bonding Across DSL Lines

We are bonding two LLU DSL lines using MLP. Our LLU provider supports MLP bonding and we have a few other customers working well on Cisco 1841s, although not such high sync speed lines as this problem site.
 
So the lines work well with no interface errors and sync speeds are very good and evenly matched between the two lines (approx 14Mbps downstream). It's all good - it's great in fact except that it just doesn't work properly! By that I mean we're not seeing the downstream throughput we'd expect. We actually get the downstream throughput of less than a single DSL line, so about 12Mbps. Upstream bonded throughput is fine and in line with the sync speeds.
 
Both circuits are 'active' in the PPP multilink bundle and I see 3 sessions on our core LNS Cisco 7301 (c7301-boot-mz.124-2.T.bin) - i.e. 2x circuits + 1x bundle. We've checked the circuits individually and 'actual' throughput (using NetPerf software) is similar for both lines and in line with the sync speeds.
 
We are seeing quite high CPU (50%) on the Cisco 1841 (c1841-ipbasek9-mz.124-24.T1.bin) at the customer premesis, but having tested a Cisco 2951 on the customer premesis with two new HWIC-1ADSL-M cards, this is not the cause. The 2951 ran at 5% CPU whilst we experienced the same problem.
 
We've checked the setup of both Cisco CPE and LNS with our LLU provider and they are happy with the MLP config. They themselves have been able to bond two similarly sync'd Annex-M DSL lines and get 25Mbps throughput on a 1841.

I'm trying to identify a Cisco router that will give 300+Mbps through a 1Gb WAN port.  I think the 1921 can get up to around 300Mbps with the on board RJ45 ports, but are there any other/better suitable models?
 
There's no need for any other particular functionality or feature set, the routers aren't doing anything fancy or unusual - it's the achieved throughput that's important.

I have the requirement to provide a Cisco Router with 3 x ADSL lines (768k) to increase the internet speed.PPP multilink is not supported from the ISP.
 
Is it possbile to distribute the traffic between this three ADSL lines?How can I configure this?
 
I have the following hardware configuration:
 
1 x  CISCO1921-SEC/K9
2 x  EHWIC-VA-DSL-B
 
The third ADSL line is connected over an ADSL modem at one fixed Router Gigabit interface.

i can only connect to my router at 144mbps(wireless N) every so often i notice my  router will channel bond to 11+7, and i can connect at 300mbps!(lasts like 5 minutes) then just randomly dies and will only reconnect at 144mbps. Its not a wireless card problem since my old netgear 3700 died on me it connected up just fine at 300mbps.i use inSSIDer and i can verify that it only connects using 1 channel(i've set to auto) and tried setting to each individual channel.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 To Bond Two Channels Using 2.4GHz Spectrum

Using firmware 1.0.01, has anyone successfully gotten the E4200 to bond two channels using the 2.4GHz spectrum?  I just can't get it to bond.  I assume it's a firmware issue, yet to be fixed.  I've tried settings Auto (20 or 40), and nada.  It has never bonded.  The 5 GHz bonds fine.  There are a few interferences by the neighbours wifi, but nothing substantial that should prevent bonding.  I have this router at school too, and the same thing happens there, with the same firmware, so I doubt it's an interference issue.  I'm using WPA2 Personal encryption.  I tried auto channel, and setting channels to 1, 3, 5, and 11, nothing changed.
 
I know I'm not bonded because A. Max link speed is ~144Mbps, and B. using a program like inSSIDer tells me I'm only using one channel on the 2.4Ghz spec.

I have started to notice an increase in traffic from all my LAN workstations to the multicast address of 224.0.1.20, all with the same destination port (79). IANA shows this address as reserved for "experimental testing". Are there any typical applications or protocols that use this multicast address? My first thought was malware running on the hosts but it's a little tricky to prove.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3620 - Increased CPU Due To Firewall

I came across a interesting symptom. Refer to the following topology.
 
host 1 <-> R1 <-> R2 <-> FW<-> host2
 
host 1 is configured to send syslog to host2, however due to firewall ACL is not configured, this has caused a spike to 99% in R1 which already has 70% - 80% cpu.
 
My questions are :
 
1) Even if the firewall is sending RST back to host 1, it should not caused an 20% cpu increase in R1 cpu. Why this is so? Router model is 3620.

2) How do i prevent this from happening in future? This could potentially allow someone to send random traffic to hosts and cause network performance issue. Is there a way to turn off the RST response from the Firewall? This is an Cisco ASA.

Increased DSL Speed - Cannot Connect To Playstation Network On PS3,

We had 1.5 Mbps, but we just upgraded to 8 Mbps. Right away we noticed that we couldn't connect to the Playstation network on the PS3, and loading Google would take several tries. In some cases you couldn't even refresh the page to load Google, you would have to open a new tab. We would have bursts of good speeds from online speed tests, ranging from 8.6Mbps down to not being able to load the test, and everything in between. urls... live in Wisconsin and my ISP is Centurylink (formerly Centurytel), a technician came over yesterday and checked our box outside and inside and said that it was our Margin (db), if I remember correctly. Here is the info from my router: [code] The technician ended up lowering our speed to 6 Mbps, and said that everything looked good, and left. The Margin (db) was at 7.3 inside and 9.7 outside before he lowered it, and he thought that if we could hit 10, we would be fine. If that's the case then it seems like the margin is not the problem. If we are using too much speed could we set QoS on a router (would need a different router) to limit the bandwidth?

I just needed more insite into the function of the ip tcp adjust-mss command which can be used to adjust the MSS value in the tcp syn packet which passes that interface. But here is a question which I had. Consider that i have two sets of systems in my LAN one with an MTU value of 1300 ( MSS 1260 ) and with a MTU of 1500 ( MSS -1460 ). If I go ahead and put an ip tcp adjust-mss 1456 (for reducing the packet size from 1500 to 1496)  on the WAN . Does the command only lower the MSS for the set of systems which have 1460 or will it also increase the MSS in the tcp syn packets send by systems with MSS of 1260 ( which can potentially break some communication ).

Internet Stops Recognizing New Connections After Increased Usage?

A short while ago, I had my data backed up onto a new HDD, as the old one was showing signs of failing soon. When I got the computer back, I noticed a problem where I need to constantly hit "Diagnose" in the Wireless Network Connection Status to get my internet working again. When it gets into this stage, several websites continue to work, I don't lose my connection to them. Some websites I can still connect to without a problem. However, many websites, even google, keep giving an error that the host could not be found. It appears that it stops accepting new connections until I reset the wireless card. My Laptop (using wireless) and other PC (Connected directly) have had no issues at all with our wireless router.

Have been experiencing speeds of max 2.5 Mbps for transferring files between Windows 7 machines connected wirelessly to a Billion 800VGT router. A speed of maximum 18 Mbps was achieved. No matter what I did to adaptor settings it was the best possible. Have 6 wireless machines which I cross checked multiple times using Lan Speed Test by Totusoft.I then disabled the wireless security (WPA-PSK) on my Billion 800VGT router and secured the network by using the Wireless MAC address filter. My speed immediately increased to 11Mbps between wireless machines. Speeds to machines on fixed lan increased to 26 Mbps.

My network topology is like this :

(Fa0/0/1)
ADSL Modem 2 (RFC2684) --/
 
1. I configure my DSL Modem in RFC 2684. The first use 172.16.0.2/29 and the second 172.16.0.3/29. I connect this devices to Fa0/0/0 and Fa0/0/1.
 
2. I configure Vlan1 to use the network configured on my modem :

interface Vlan1
ip address 172.16.0.1 255.255.255.248
 
3. I try to ping my devices :

I have been trying to find out what the maximum Wan to Lan thruput is for the Linksys Cisco BEFSR 41 Etherfast router..
Have both the version 3 and 4 models and want to deploy them into both 6mb and 12mb DSL networks.. From what I have found the version 1 and 2 have 10mb wan ports and the version 3 and 4 have 10/100mb ports.. There seems to be hardware upgrades as well with the CPU and memory speeds but what they are I do not know for sure.. Found someone stating that they went from a 50mhz CPU to a 166mhz CPU to a possible 220mhz CPU...

I have a 3640a, 3550 and airopoint 350 I use for my home internet connection. I know it's old equipment, but it's all I could afford at the time. Directly plugged into my modem I get about 10 mb/s, plugged into a switch port no greater than 6, and about 5-6 when connected to wireless which is understandable because it's only wireless B. I'm going to downgrade my connection for the time being as I'm paying for excess bandwidth that I'm unable to use, but any more recent, affordable cisco routers that can handle a high speed cable connection? What kind of throughput does the 3550 get? Cisco states a throughput of approximately 45-60mb/s for the 3640a.

if i plug a cisco 880 router in to a 100MB WAN Ethernet circuit what throughput will i get? on cisco site it says 25mb/sec but if it is Ethernet shouldn't it be done in hardware and get the full 100mb/sec?
 
I know that a 1841 plugged in to a 40MB WAN circuit can match that speed but Cisco site say it only can do E1 speed.

I am looking to find the correct router for a 50 Mbps Ethernet connectin that is for Internet traffic. It will need to support 50 Mbps throughput, along with routing protocols for BGP, and maybe NAT/ACL's.  It most likely will be a used router, in the 2800 series.  I'm thinking a 2821 would work, but need to make sure before I pass it on to the customer. They currently have a 3660 they were thinking of using, but I think it would be too weak, and probably only pas 30Mbps at the most before it chokes.  They are a mini ISP with their own ASN, Tier 3.

I recently bought a WRT160NL router. I have a 10/10 Mbps internet connection, but when I am connected via the router it only gives me ~2.5/1 Mbps speeds. Connecting my computer directly to the "wall" results in 10/10 Mbps speeds. I have tried connecting to the router both wireless and by wire, it makes no difference. The internal wired and wireless speeds are fine, as I have copied files over the internal switch and via the wireless network at relatively high speeds. I have not fiddled with any connection settings except creating a few permanent DHCP leases.

I have a E2500 connected via LAN to my network via a switch or hub through a sonic wall and into the modem out to the internet. The problem is that I am only getting +/- 5Mpbs Down and +/-7 Mbps up through the router.
 
If I connect my computer to the network with out going through the router my speeds are more in the range of +/-28 Mbps down and 16Mbps up. I have been working with Linksys support but they have not been able to assist me with this yet! Is there any configuring I should be doing at the firewall or to the router to tell it to open up the port for faster speeds?

I have an E4200 running firmware v1.0.03.Works fine for a period of time (might be hours, might be days) then throughput drops to something in the range of 1-3M when typically I'll see 6-8M (DSL).  I can reset the DSL modem, hubs, etc but the problem isn't fixed until I reset the E4200; so I've pretty much narrowed it down to the router.
