I recently lost my configuration when attempting to reset the password for our Cisco 3560g switch, the switch connects to a Cisco 4506 switch via fiber back to our main office.
I have the switch temporarily routing all traffic to our 4506 by using the default route of 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.10.254 but the same switch is connected to a cisco 2600 router that is on a 10.10.20.0 network and the 3560g is on a 10.0.0.0 network.
Host computers sit on the 10.0.0.0 network, but they need to go to the 10.10.10.0 network for internet, domain, etc the same computers need to go to the 10.10.10.20 for remote connections and other services.
The address of the 3560g is: 10.0.0.254
The address of the 2600 is 10.10.20.2
When the default route is set to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.10.254 (4560 switch) domain browsing works perfectly
When the default route is set to 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.20.2 (3560G) switch I can ping any ip address in that range and the address on the other
interface ip adresses on the 2600 (eg. 10.10.30.1 / eth2, 10.10.40.1/ eth3 etc.)
I have tried to weight the routes after adding them both to the configuration, but that doesn't seem to work at all.
The switch connects back to the office via vlan1 (10.10.10.253)
The 2600 is connected to port 1, which belongs to Vlan2 (10.10.20.1)
And client computers sit on ports 2-12 belonging to Vlan10 (10.0.0.240)
So in a nut shell, how would I go about setting it up so the machines on 10.0.0.0 can connect to 10.10.20.0 and 10.10.10.0 and vice versa at the same time? Everything was working fine until I rebooted the switch (3560g), which makes me think the person that configured this before me didn't save the running config to the start up config.

We have recently leased an internet connection in our office which comes from the service provider as radio link and BW is 2M. I have clients more than 60 that will share the connection and access internet. I have configured a Cisco 2600 router as below:
Building configuration...
Current configuration : 988 bytes
!
version 12.2
no service single-slot-reload-enable
no service timestamps debug uptime
no service timestamps log uptime
[code].....
So far I have read regard NAT it degrades performance as it need to translate every data packet comes from the source and goes to internet. So a question comes in my mind is there any other way how I can share this connection among users with private ip address? Or NAT is the only method to share internet connection among users with private ip addresses?

I'm looking at purchasing one Cisco 2600 XM Series router that has IOS 12.4 on it. I put the IOS name into Cisco's feature navigator and it states that it supports SSH and IPv6. Can I buy that router, take the IOS off that one, and put it on another 2600 XM Series so I don't have to spend $400 on two routers with 12.4 on them?

I am trying to secure sub interfaces on a 2600 Router
interface FA0/1.1
No Access-group
Interface FA0/1.2
IP Access-group 110 out
Access-list 110 deny ip 2.2.2.0 0.0.0.255 1.1.1.0 0.0.0.255
Access-list 110 permit ip any any
This works but it blocks traffic both ways I only want to block one, I dont want FA0/1.2 to be able to access FA0/1.1 but I want all traffic to be allowed to go the other way

I have a cisco 877 router connected to our adsl broadband at our head office. I have managed to set this up with Nat and DHCP all working to let multiple users access the internet through our single static ip supplied by the ISP lets say the ip is 1.2.3.4.Our internal network is 192.168.1.0 255.255. 255. 0.I have a draytek vigor 2600 at a branch office set up the same with a static ip addresss supplied by the ISP lets say the ip is 5.6.7.8.The internal network is 192.168.4.0 255.255.255.0
I am trying to set up a VPN between the head office and branch office so the branch office users can connect to our internal server(lets say ip is 192.168.1.2) to receive group policies, access files and also telnet into our database server(lets say ip is 192.168.1.3).I have attached a sort of running config that i have pieced together from bits i have read on this site and others. I have tried these settings and other permutations of these settings but i cant seem to establish a tunnel even though when i show int tunnel0 on the router it says tunnel is up and line protocol is up, if i show ip route it shows that there is an ip address for the tunnel and that is about it(No vpn light on).
If it makes sense and that I have entered the right information? I have highlighted the parts i am not sure about in red(Quite a bit and obviously not the exact settings but what i think it should be). Once all the settings are correct on the cisco will it automatically establish the vpn or do i have to dial it from the draytek.

I was trying to erase my lab router 2600 and reset it back to the factory defaults. Well I was able to to reset it all right but I used the erase command which worked a little to well. So now there is no IOS and the router is in ROM mode and I didnt back up the pervious IOS "Nice". So was able to get an updated IOS for my 2600 but I'm trying to install it and don't know how. I was able to get a tftp server app for my windows pc but I'm unsure on how to configure it so I can transfer the new IOS to the router. On the up side I did learn something erasing and reset are to very different things.

I ordered a set of hardware that came with CBT videos; however, the videos they sent do not exactly match the hardware and I'm stumped.
I have 3 routers:
2610XM: Indianapolis
2620:New_England
2610:Seattle
Indianapolis connects to New_England with a WIC-1DSU-T1
Indianapolis connects to Seattle with a WIC-1T
The interfaces are up on all three devices and so are the protocols. The videos are of 2500 series routers and they only use the WIC-1T card. When I try to set the clock rate for the s0/1 on New England to 1000000 like the video suggest I get an error "this command only applies to DCE interfaces". Do I not need to set this on the WIC-1DSU-T1 interface?
Whenever I issue router rip and try to set network such as:
router rip
network 10.0.1.0
network 10.0.10.0
network 10.0.20.0
the network won't save on any of the devices. If I show the running-config it shows network 10.0.0.0 I've tried saving the config directly after exiting outt of the config mode, but still only 10.0.0.0

I have a 2600 I am trying to setup for educational use.
My Cable ISP has issued me 5 routable IP's through their SMC modem 86.28.12.226-229. The SMC modem is .225. Currently the internal network can get out through .229 as expected but nothing outside (tcp 80 to web server) can get through. When I assigned the ip's to e0/1 as secondarr I could get it to route from the inside network (so hitting .226 80 went to the correct place) but it still didn't work from the outside - plus I read that wasn't a great way to do it anyway.

- I have an older router 2600 running 12.1(4) IOS.
- There are a few clients connected to it via the frame relay connection.
- There is an IP that clients access 192.168.1.10 for example
- We need to do a NAT for this IP for one specific client only like "ip nat inside source static 192.168.1.10 1.1.1.1"
- However if I do that, that will effect other clients too
- On the interface for this client I'll be using "ip nat outside"
- Is there a way to accomplish this without effecting other customers?

I have two LANs in my house, one 10/100 base and the other 10/100/1000, but one internet connection that I would like to have access to on both networks. Right now I have two Belkin routers for each network. In addition I have a Cisco 2600 and 3660. I know they are old, but they seem to be in operational order. Can I use those to combine to two networks? The only thing I want to maintain is the speed on the gig network, from the router to the PC's and devices.

Here is my current config build for a Cisco 2620 using a Wic-1ADSL to connect to a Qwest ADSL ISP:
interface FastEthernet0/0
ip address 172.16.0.1 255.255.0.0
ip nat inside
no ip mroute-cache
[code]...
For some reason, it won't connect at all. I've changed the callin requirement on the ppp authentication between "callin" to "callout" - even removed the line completely for a no-authentication scenario. The only responses that come back on a repetative nature when doing a debug are:
Vi2 PPP: Authorization NOT required
and
Vi2 PPP: No remote authorization for call-out

we have some (2) HP Notebooks with a Broadcon 4313 b/g/n WLAN Chip and use the latest drivers (2012). This Chip can provide up to 72 mbit/s with 2,4 ghz.
If we connect this notebooks to a Aironet 2600 AP (10 feet distance) the Windows 7 WLAN Dialog shows 72 Mbit/s for 3 seconds and than only 5.5 Mbit. Others (newer) Laptops show 450 Mbit. The WLAN works with WPA2/AES and PSK. The speed doesn't go up, if we copy a big file to the laptop.
Here is the Linktest from the AP to Client (from the WLC 2504 Webinterface):

Was just wondering if we can segregate users using subnets and not vlans in cisco switches? We have few groups we want to segregate onto different subnets, but don't want to use Vlans. Apparently I have been told that vlans do way too much packet processing and slows the network.
we are working on a school network. Want to segregate staff/students/admin.Further segregate students by year levels. This means if we were to use vlans we would have around 15 vlans. will it slow the network? (thats what I have been told and i dont agree to it). How to implement this topology without vlans and by just using subnets.PS: we use Juniper EX4200 (layer3), Juniper EX2200 x15,H3C 3100 x16 and cisco 2600 x1 switches on campus.

I have configured VPDN/Dialer on router 2600 to connect to our ISP via Fibre Optics modem but its simply not connecting. The router consists of 3 interfaces
- Inter fa0/0 = 10.0.0.6 255.255.255.248 (LAN 1)
- Inter fa0/1 = IP is unassigned (interface connected to Fibre Optics modem)
- Inter e1/0 = 192.168.200.1 255.255.255.0 (LAN 2)
The connection is planned to run like this:
LAN1 & LAN2 (Inter fa0/0 & Inter e1/0) <-> Inter fa0/1 <-> Dialer1 <-> Modem <-> ISP <-> Internet.
The Modem will just server as mere "modem" or just a bridge, as the actual routing is configured on "dialer interface" in the router. We're not using a dedicated IP address to link to ISP but a public one. After configuring the interfaces, VPDN, dialer interface, NAT, access-list, ISP's assigned username/password, etc I'm simply not connecting to our ISP, even when I do a ping. The ISP's IP address which we're pinging is 118.23.8.80 What am I missign out? How do I connect the dots here?Below are the results for Running config, Ping, and Debug:

We have an old Cisco 2600 series router, running a single T-1 line, AT&T is the carrier. Very standard stuff.
The T-1 works perfectly on the old router. Cisco 2600 with a WIC-1DSU-T1 card. We have a brand new 2911 router with a VWIC3-1MFT-T1/E1 card in it. The circuit runs 100% clean and trouble free on the old router. When I plug it into the new router, it shows up/up but has a massive number of errors on the line, and the circuit is not usable. There are no timing slips or anything like that.
I have another site using the same router and card with the same configuration on that T-1 and it works perfectly. Zero errors. This site (in a different city) is totally slammed with errors. We already replaced the T-1 card and still have the exact same issue.
I've actually been doing this a long time, and I've tried all of the usual things, adjusting line build out, changing clock source, checking and re-checking configs. Nothing seems to reduce the error rate.
I personally think it has something to do with the Smartjack. Like maybe their LBO is too high or too low, and the old router card was more/less sensitive than the new one?
This is a layer 1 issue and is not defective hardware or defective configuration. I am looking for T-1 insights or bugs/issues.

I've been using this setting for clients in small offices and what not, and since all they wanted was to give another nutch of security to their network, we've been intalling cisco routers 2600 series still outhere for their internet connections and we had no issues what so ever, not until we run into cable isp provider, and their dhcp wont be able to assign our interface a dynamic IP, this is the setting aplied to the router interface;
interface fastethernet0/0
ip address dhcp
ip nat outside
no ip redirects
no ip unreachables
no ip proxy-arp
Why it wont be seen or assigned an ip by their dhcp, I talked to their isp and they assigned a static ip (private one) and we still have the same issue, if i connect a pix 506e interface with the ip add dhcp assigned to it gets a dynamic ip right away...

We have recently deployed Cisco APs (2600 series) in our org. but we are facing alot of bandwidth/speed issues. when a single user is copying or pasting any data into the network, the speed seems ok, but when multiple-users start copying data , so the data-rate speed gets slower and slower as the users are increasing.
Can any one tell me what is the issue? Why the internal data rate speed gets shared between users? i think each user should bydefault get any specific data rate speed, but that is what not happening on our end.

I have a couple of 2600 APs (external antenna) which are getting PoE from my switch but no ethernet. This is happening on both APs. If I connect a laptop to the (cat5e) cable I get ethernet. If i move the AP to another patch lead adjacent to my switch I get ethernet connectivity too. So, change the cable is the answer I thought, however I have exactly the same issue on both APs and each ethernet cable has been reterminated a number of times (straight through). I wonder is the 2600 AP less tolerant to the actual ethernet cable ?
I just swap the cable, however the patch leads have been run (only 15m or so) and have been replaced once - relaying again is not an easy job. It's more a case of reterminating the cable that is already there and as I've already done this a few times on each patch lead and the results are the same each time I'm thinking I'm missing something obvious.
