Cisco WAN :: C1921 / How To Upgrade (E)HWIC Firmware With 2 Cards Installed

Feb 21, 2013

I am running two ADSL lines into one C1921 router with 2 ADSLoPOTS cards installed.If I copy the firmware flash file on to the router (adsl_alc_20190.bin) and reboot, only one card shows the new firmware (slot 0).So sh dsl int atm 0/0/0 shows new firmware but sh dsl int atm 0/1/0 shows no change.How do I upgrade them both?

Card is still currently installed.

Cisco Wireless :: HWIC-3g-HSPA-G Firmware Or Hardware Failing?

Dec 12, 2011

Within the space of a few days we've had 2  HWIC-3G-HSPA-G cards appear to fail on different router models. In each case the sh cell x/x/x hardware output is empty i.e no firmware version or other data provided and the radio status is off. Attempts to force the interface down using the test ....modem-power-cycle or radio-power off get the same error message that the modem is still in reset. Reloading the router does not clear this so we recently tried to update the firmware using the latest version off CCO. The upgrade using the microcode commands failed with an error of "unable to determine the modem state".

Cisco WAN :: C1921 - Internet Connection

May 14, 2013

I have a brand new C1921 with EHWIC-4G-LTE-G using Vodafone to build an internet connection. First I did the setup like shown in the config guides and got the internet connection, but it was unstable.

Then I found some issues with the old LTE- card firmware in the support forum. Following that hint, I did an IOS upgrade to 15.2(4)M3 and the LTE- card update to Modem Firmware Version = SWI9200X_03.05.19.04. Post-checks after the update were all fine.

After that, I reconfigured the router again meeting the config guides. Establishing the internet connection, I get an IP address on the cellular profile, but it's not bound to the cellular interface.

sh cellular 0/0/0 profile Profile password Encryption level: 7

Profile 1 = ACTIVE*--------PDP Type = IPv4PDP address = 10.25.124.59Access Point Name (APN) =Authentication = None Username:Password: 05        Primary DNS address = 139.7.30.125        Secondary DNS address = 139.7.30.126

Before the upgrade the IP- address was bound to the cellular0/0/0 interface and I was able to reach the internet.

Cisco Wireless :: 5508 Controllers - After 7.0.116.0 Upgrade Intel Wi-Fi Link Cards Fail

Nov 10, 2011

Just recently upgrade our 2 5508 controllers from 6.0.199.0 to 7.0.116.0.  Since that upgrade, I have a handful (8 to 10) of wireless laptops that now refuse to associate to any access points.  The thing these laptops all have in common is some variation of the Intel Wifi Link AGN cards.  I have about 200 other clients out there working just fine.

I've tried everything under the sun that I can think of.  Patches, drivers, the whole sh'bang.

Is there a known issue with 7.0.116.0 and these particular cards?

Cisco WAN :: Make PIMv2 Hello From C1921 Backwards-compatible With Old C3620

Jun 18, 2012

I observed that when I was trying to troubleshoot a field issue using two routers I had in the lab, that one of them (an ancient C3620) did not like the PIMv2 Hello messages sent to it by the newer one (C1921).

The symptom observed with multicast routing is that when a source connected to the C1921 tries to register with an RP running on the C3620, the multicast route stays in the "registering" state forever. But going "the other way" - with the source connected to the C3620 and the RP running on the C1921 worked fine.

what I see in the C1921 when it tried to register a connection to the group 224.0.0.39 (for Auto-RP). Note: The two routers are connected via a GRE tunnel. [code] PIM debugging on the C3620 showed the following when the two exchanged. [code]

I believe that the issue is down to the firmware in the C3620 simply being too old and not understanding the PIM options defined in RFC3973 or the Cisco private PIM option 65004 being sent by the C1921 (though the PIM debug does not make it clear whether it is just the unknown options that are ignored or the whole Hello message)

Is there any global or interface-specific PIM option I can use in the C1921 to "dumb down" the Hello message so that the old C3620 accepts it?

Cisco WAN :: C1921 One Way Multicast And Wrong Interface Info In Show Ip

Nov 5, 2012

C1921, running version 15.1(4)M2, with licence for "IP base" feature set only.Trying to pass multicast via a PPTP VPN from a Windows XP machine to work around a non multicast-aware WAN link

1. With the IP Base feature set I am able to create a plain PPTP VPN without any encryption; the Windows XP machine can bring it up and unicast data passes through it OK in both directions.

2. But when trying to send multicast, only one-way traffic is observed:i. Windows XP host on far end of PPTP VPN and a local PC both running old Microsoft tool "MPING.EXE", sending and listening for traffic on the groiup 225.100.101.102i. The distant host receives and echoes back the packets received from the local machine + sending its own (confirmed with Wireshark running at the far end)ii. But the local machine directly connected to the C1921 router does not hear any packets from the far end; Wireshark shows only the ones it is sending.

3. Group status ("show ip igmp membership") as far as the C1921 is concerned shows both ends (192.168.50.10 (local end) and 192.168.50.201 (distant end via the PPTP VPN)) joined to the group [code]

4. But "show ip mroute" for that group shows an error; for the source on the far end of the PPTP VPN (having the IP address 192.168.50.201), the source interface is incorrectly shown as GigabitEthernet0/0 (should be Virtual-Access2.1 for that PPTP VPN) and the outgoing interface is shown as Virtual-Access2.1 [code]

5. I have tried adding static mroutes and messing about with parameters for the virtual-template interface for the PPTP VPN, but the problem remains. And if I put another local PC onto a different Ethernet port of the router, the multicast traffic does flow both ways - so the issue is solely with the PPTP VPN.After a week of head-scratching I am getting more and more convinced that it's a bug... but wonder if it is already-known, has a workaround, or a fix in newer firmware?

Cisco WAN :: WAP4410n Firmware Upgrade?

Sep 17, 2012

I currently have 3 WAP4410n's (actually, they're WAP4410N-E V02s) that have been really unreliable since I got them - so much so that we've had to cron a restart script on another server which is frankly ridiculous - they've always run firmware version 2.0.2.1.

I've tried updating the firmware to new versions in the past with no success - when I do so, it looks like everything's fine, but when I log back in, the fixed IP address information isn't shown, and the wireless is disabled.  I can enable it, but I can't select a channel.

At this point, I have to revert back to the old firmware.  I've tried restoring to factory setttings before and after the firmware flash, but this hasn't changed anything.

However, recently I was able to flash firmware 2.0.5.3 onto only one of the routers - it worked fine and all information was displayed and wireless enabled correctly.  However on the other two, no matter what I try, the firmware won't upgrade succesfully - it looks like everything's fine, but the fixed IP information isn't shown and wireless/channels are disabled.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Upgrade Firmware To 1.35 NA From 1.21?

Mar 28, 2012

I have a DIR-655 Rev A4.I followed this forum in the past when there were many problems with firmware upgrades beyon 1.21. Because of this I never upgraded and was told to be satisfied that I can still stay with 1.21 as upgrades caused problems for a number of people.Everything still seems fine with 1.21 except the Shareport utility often does not pickup the printer connection upon booting to Windows Vista. I can always work around this by Disable and then Enable. It will then always find the printer. It is a minor annoyance however.Should I still stay with 1.21 or is upgrading to 1.35 NA recommended ? If I upgrade to 1.35 NA is there a downgrade path back to 1.21 if the upgrade does not work well ?

Cisco WAN :: Upgrade Firmware On SRW2048 Switch?

It baffles me because the admin console doesn't look like it will browse your computer for a firmware update.  Rather, it prefers you to specify a tftp or http server.  I don't know how I'd set up my computer to be the http or tftp server and it doesn't really go into detail on what configurations or commands that would need to be used. I've used a tftp client in the past to send a firmware to routers and whatnot but not serve one.

Cisco Routers :: Wrvs4400n Firmware Upgrade With VPN

May 12, 2013

I have three locations using the linksys wrvs4400n router with IPSec VPNS. They all work fine and point back to a Server2003. I just added a fourth location with the same router but this new router has firmware v2.x, where the others have firmware v1.x. When I connected the new router into the VPN network, it caused the other tunnels to go down. When I take the new router with firmware v2.x offline, everything else seems to work fine.

Can the v2.x firmware cause the other VPNS on v1.x firmware to go down and not work properly? Do I need to upgrade the firmware so all 4 linksys wrvs4400n routers are operating the same version number so not to cause the tunnels to disconnect?

Cisco Firewall :: Upgrade Firmware On PIX 515e?

Jun 23, 2011

I´ve a problem with my "old" PIX515e device. I wanted to flash this device to a new firmware level but forgot to disable the "lost enable" password before.  So I started to make the firmware upgrade on my device, ended up with "flashfs" is busy and I should start the enabled modus and "copy flash tftp" to activate the new flash version. Unfortunalty I cannot do this because I´ve lost my password. When I´m trying to boot this device up now, it will end with a error message...

Unable to locate boot image configuration
Booting first image in flash
No bootable image in flash. Please download an image from a network server in the monitor mode
Failed to find an image to boot

As mentioned, when I will load a new flash image over monitor mode, i cannot activate that image because of flashfs is busy.The password reset bin files will not work too. I tried that too but this one will recongnize no active installed flash.Is there any way to reanimate my PIX515e? In newer devices there are possibilites to work with changing config register but I´ve found nothing about that for a PIX515e.

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 - Upgrade From 2.0.0.2 To 2.0.2.7 Firmware

Jul 21, 2012

I've just purchased 2 RVS4000. The units, which are V2, have been shipped with firmware 2.0.0.3. It seems this version suffers from multiple vulnerabilities I would like to fix asap. Unfortunately, I was unable to upgrade to 2.0.2.7.

One one of the units, I went through the upgrade process via the admin interface. It seemed to work, though it got tucked at 100% - which is a known issue, as per the release notes - but then, instead of having my unit upgraded as advertised when going back to the home page. It seems I'm stuck in 2.0.0.3. I tried the upgrade a couple of times without any success before posting here.

On top of that, the other unit I have is on another site, far from where I am at the moment. It is also a 2.0.0.3 firmware. I didn't try the upgrade, as I prefer to be on site when doing this type of things, this will be the case next week. This other unit seems to be much more responsive than the one I tried to upgrade without success. On the one I have now with me, I have plenty of freezes every time, it can take up to 5mn for the device to respond to a query. The other one I'm managing remotely does not show these problems. Also, even though the units are the same, the "faulty" one seems to have issues to keep all the settings properly. For example, key lifetimes get always reset to 0 sec, and I have to fill 28800 and 3600 each time I make a change in the configuration. Again, the remote one does not have this issue.

So my questions are :
- Any info on this kind of issues with the RVS4000 ?
- Is it normal 2 units purchased at the same time, which have been shipped with the same firmware, behave differently ?
- Is it possible I have a faulty hardware ?
