I've been looking and I can really find much info about this, I got a 1841 and 2801 router with ADSL WIC cards and both are synching really low compared to my cheap home router
This leads me to believe I need a firmware update so I got the adsl_alc_20190.bin and loaded it into flash and reloaded my router but its still saying my firmware is using an embedded one.
sh flash:-#- --length-- -----date/time------ path1 1000636 Oct 4 2011 05:59:54 +00:00 adsl_alc_20190.bin

Within the space of a few days we've had 2 HWIC-3G-HSPA-G cards appear to fail on different router models. In each case the sh cell x/x/x hardware output is empty i.e no firmware version or other data provided and the radio status is off. Attempts to force the interface down using the test ....modem-power-cycle or radio-power off get the same error message that the modem is still in reset. Reloading the router does not clear this so we recently tried to update the firmware using the latest version off CCO. The upgrade using the microcode commands failed with an error of "unable to determine the modem state".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to backup my primary WAN with secondary backup connection - 3G WAN through Cellular 0/0/0.Point is that I need to track some external IP address on my primary interface, for examle 8.8.8.8. If it is not reacheable, then router brings up backup connection - 3G. This can be done by using dialer-watcher.Simple.But unfortunately my primary WAN interface is an FastEthernet, which is the coonected to a switch, switch to WAN . There is no dialer-watch commands on it. Thats sad .
One more time :
WAN -> SWITCH -> ROUTER(WITH 3G HWIC and Fa 0/0 connected to switch).
is there any known issue in configuring multilink ppp using an old WIC-1T and a newer HWIC-1T on the same Cisco 1841 router ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to learn a little about Cisco router setup, since I'm fairly well versed in configuration. I have an 1841 w/ K9 that I'd like to set up as a WAN Router to hot swap if one of ours goes down. I installed a VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 MultiFlex card in Slot 1 of the router.
Currently, if I run a "show diag", the VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 shows up in Slot 1 but in the configuration I can't see it or configure it. Am I missing an enable or something? I thought I had to declare card type but I can only do that on the existing card, the router doesn't seem to recognize that the card is there in any place other than "show diag".
I've been given an 1841 with a 3G HWIC card installed to test with. I need to set up some sort of VPN to our ASA, the problem is though these 3G cards get a random public IP, so what options do I have to create a VPN tunnel from this router to the ASA without the 1841 getting a static public IP?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just recently (and very expensively) purchased a HWIC-1ADSL for my 1841 router.
Unfortunately, it doesn't display in the configuration - nor any lights appear on it for power/link.
My first guess is I need to upgrade my IOS. The current version on my 1841 is 12.4(17). Which appears to be pretty current.
I have not yet completed my CCNA, however I have managed to configure a 1841 router with 1 x HWIC-ADSL1 and it also has 1 x HWIC-AG-AP-A which is the only part I am unable to get working.
The Wi-Fi (Dot11Radio) config has enabled me to see the SSID from wireless devices, but they never get an IP address. I need them to get the same IP range as the DHCP service I have in there 203.35.10.xxx, there is no option for "IP ADDRESS DHCP" only "IP ADDRESS POOL LAN" Lan is of course my DHCP pool name. however I cannot have the same DHCP pool on both Dot11Radio interfaces.
I know I'm missing one very simple command, but as I've never worked with Radio on Cisco equipment, I am unsure how to fix it.
Then once I get that worked out, I need changing the access from OPEN to WPA or WPA2, etc..
IOS Software on Router is C1841-ADVSECURITYK9-M - Version 12.4(9) T
I can upgrade to a better version of software if needed, I only have a 32mb Flash and 128Mb Ram.
The current Radio Config is:
!
interface Dot11Radio0/1/0
no ip address
no ip redirects

my office is looking in ordering a HWIC-1FE to supply our cisco 1841 router with a second ISP connection. i wanted to find out if this card support load balancing and fail over? not sure if fail over is the right terminology so ill explain, i need it so that if one ISP connection goes down (as it does often) it fails over to the second ISP.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have this piece at my home and just realized today that there is a new firmware available on the cisco web page. It has made the device more stable, but the most noticeable improvement is in the UI. Previously it was a linksys for business UI that was pretty much exactly like the consumer products. After the upgrade it is now a Cisco small business UI. I think that this will make the resellers take the products more seriously as a small business piece rather than an upgraded residential product.

I just purchased a RV180W wireless router. It came with 1.0.0.30 firmware revision installed.
I have tried from multiple computers and multiple browsers to update the firmware on this unit, and I always end up with the same result.
"Firmware file is invalid or corrupted"
I have also downloaded the images (1.0.1.9 and 1.0.2.6) from multiple machines all with the same result.
One of our customers wants to update the firmware of a 5508 wlc, but always gets the following error message: Error Message %UPDATE-3-INV_FILE_SIGN: Error! Invalid image signature!. Image may be corrupt.but the same image works fine on another 5508. The update was downloaded via a smartnet for the wlc, on which the update works fine. does the customer has to download another image for the second controller, or should the image work on both wlc?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to firmware version 7.1.91.0 on my 5508 controllers to allow support for 3600 WAPs and WCS. We have recently run into bug CSCua29504 which prevents Windows 8 devices from joining my wireless network due to a Management Frame Protection issue.
Firmware updates have been released for 7.0,7.2,7.3 and 7.4 trains to resolve the fault, however there hasn't been a release for 7.1. Any update for the 7.1 firmware to address bug ID CSCua29504?

My router's last update was: v1.50.6,Feb. 17, 2006 . I use the router at home with no problems (we had a desktop and a laptop using it; now just the laptop). I purchased a Kindle Fire last week and it works fine at work, at restaurants, etc. but not at home. Some of the KF discussions I've been following suggest updating the router's firmware so the KF will recognize and connect to it. I contacted Cisco and was told that no firmware updates are available for my router since it is out of warranty. I contacted Amazon and was told that the problem was in my router.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded the firmware from 2.0.2.1 to 2.0.3.3 and when the router rebooted the interface was missing many items. On the basic setup page the boxes were missing to set the local ip address, subnet mask and anything below that. On the Wireless Security page the security mode box was half it's size and did not have any options in it. The wireless isolation wpa algorithm, preshared key and key renewal boxes were missing too. I rebooted the router and still got the same thing. I was able to get into administration and reset to the factory default. Once the router rebooted I was unable to get into the interface at all. It wouldn't come up at all. The power and light were blinking but I was unable to connect to it. I tried to connect with 192.168.1.245 and the one I had set manually but no luck with either. I was able send back the router for an exchange with Cisco. I received the new one today. It started up and everything worked great. I decided to try the firmware upgrade again. I went from the firmware version that was on there(I didn't right down) to 2.0.2.1 and the upgrade worked as the other 3 I have. I than tried the 2.0.3.3 upgrade and I got the same thing as the other router I sent back. I have 3 other routers in place that I will not be upgrading at this point. I should not have tried the upgrade again on the one today but being a bank the examiners like everything up to date and it's part of the monthly check.

I go to the support page for the WRT54G routers. I set the version number to version 2 and there is no firmware file to download. For every other version there is a firmware file to download but not for version 2. Where can I get the latest firmware for my router.

View 1 Replies View Relatedan EA6500 router that has intermmitent connectivity issues. Went into the configuration page and saw he was a couple versions behind on firmware. Used the online update option, firmware downloaded and then indicated that router would reboot. Did not power off router or leave the configuration web page. Watched light go out on router and come back on, but the spinning wait icon never went away after 5 minutes. Powered off and on and was back at the same point with the old firmware still. Downloaded the firmware to local drive and applied from local file, but same results. Waited 10 minutes this time. Surely it doesn't take more than 10 minutes for the router to reboot itself from a firmware flash?
Gave up on trying to update firmware and configured wifi settings. Left friend's house and then got a message about 15 minutes later that the router had locked up again. If he pulls power for 2 minutes it will then work for another short period of time.
Is there anything that can be done to try and restore normal operation to this particular router, or are these all signs of a hardware failure and the unit should just be replaced?
Just got a WRT120N and went online to get the most recent firmware and when i performed the upgrade it's gets about 3/4 of the way completed before it just stalls and start screen blinking like it's caught up or something. Like many others with the W8968 Modem Router we are experiencing sudden disconnections from the internet every 1/2/3 hours with the only way to cure the problem is to hard reset the modem router. For your tech staff on the phone to say 'I'll just have to do this" is completely unacceptable.I have used 3 other modem routers with the exact same setup flawlessly with no disconnections so it's 110% the modem routers problem.I'm pushing this message for you, TP-Link, to release a new firmware version to fix this problem.
I also believe there are other problems incorporating port forwarding, etc aside from this major flaw.I used to believe TP-Link was a trusted and great company but after my experience I'll be thinking otherwise.
