Cisco WAN :: 1841 With 3G HWIC - Backup WAN Connection?

Jul 3, 2011

I'm trying to backup my primary WAN with secondary backup connection - 3G WAN through Cellular 0/0/0.Point  is that I need to track some external IP address on my primary  interface, for examle 8.8.8.8. If it is not reacheable, then router  brings up backup connection - 3G. This can be done by using  dialer-watcher.Simple.But unfortunately my primary WAN interface is an  FastEthernet, which is the coonected to a switch, switch to WAN . There  is no dialer-watch commands on it. Thats sad .

One more time :

WAN -> SWITCH -> ROUTER(WITH 3G HWIC and Fa 0/0 connected to switch).

Adding HWIC To Slot 1 Of Cisco 1841?

Jan 2, 2012

I'm trying to learn a little about Cisco router setup, since I'm fairly well versed in configuration. I have an 1841 w/ K9 that I'd like to set up as a WAN Router to hot swap if one of ours goes down. I installed a VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 MultiFlex card in Slot 1 of the router.

Currently, if I run a "show diag", the VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 shows up in Slot 1 but in the configuration I can't see it or configure it. Am I missing an enable or something? I thought I had to declare card type but I can only do that on the existing card, the router doesn't seem to recognize that the card is there in any place other than "show diag".

Cisco Switching/Routing :: IOS Support For HWIC-1ADSL On 1841?

May 14, 2008

I just recently (and very expensively) purchased a HWIC-1ADSL for my 1841 router.

Unfortunately, it doesn't display in the configuration - nor any lights appear on it for power/link.

My first guess is I need to upgrade my IOS.  The current version on my 1841 is 12.4(17).  Which appears to be pretty current.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 1841 / HWIC-AP-AG-A Not Providing IP Address To Clients

Dec 5, 2012

I have not yet completed my CCNA, however I have managed to configure a 1841 router with 1 x HWIC-ADSL1 and it also has 1 x HWIC-AG-AP-A which is the only part I am unable to get working.

The Wi-Fi (Dot11Radio) config has enabled me to see the SSID from wireless devices, but they never get an IP address. I need them to get the same IP range as the DHCP service I have in there 203.35.10.xxx, there is no option for "IP ADDRESS DHCP" only "IP ADDRESS POOL LAN" Lan is of course my DHCP pool name. however I cannot have the same DHCP pool on both Dot11Radio interfaces.

I know I'm missing one very simple command, but as I've never worked with Radio on Cisco equipment, I am unsure how to fix it.

Then once I get that worked out, I need changing the access from OPEN to WPA or WPA2, etc..

IOS Software on Router is C1841-ADVSECURITYK9-M - Version 12.4(9) T

I can upgrade to a better version of software if needed, I only have a 32mb Flash and 128Mb Ram.

The current Radio Config is:

!
interface Dot11Radio0/1/0
no ip address
no ip redirects

Cisco WAN :: ASR1000 Multi-link PPPoE With LFI

Mar 26, 2013

I'm trying to find out what platforms support Multilink PPP with Link Fragmentation and Interleaving over a single link, when that single link is PPPoE.  In searching the documentation, the best information I can find is that it seems to be supported in one direction on the ASR1000 url...Many platforms appear to support PPPoE and also MLPPP w/LFI, but it's not clear that both features are supported on the same link.

The application is a radio that has an Ethernet interface on its terrestrial link, and acts as an Ethernet bridge.  Would like to use Multilink PPPoE with LFI in order to provide LFI in order to run VoIP over lower speed links (e.g 256kb).  For what it's worth, the radio also supports RFC 5578 PPPoE Extensions for Credit Flow and Link Metrics.  It was fairly easy to find what platforms support RFC 5578.  But RFC 5578 would be used to support variation in the capacity of the link.  If the link speed is fixed, RFC 5578 is not needed.  I was trying to find if the set of platforms supported increase if the need for RFC 5578 is taken off the table.

In particular, I'd be interested in the whether the ASR 9000 series supports MLPPP bundles with LFI when the links are PPPoE.

Cisco WAN :: C7206 Multi-link Four T1 Circuits / 4th T1 Won't Bundle

Feb 1, 2011

I have a site which has been successfully running a multilink bundle of four T1 lines for about 6 months.  The remote location is a C3825 router and the central location router is a C7206.  I have access to both.  A few weeks ago the multilink circuit started flapping and I was able to identify one of the four T1 lines as the culprit.  When I shut down the interface for that one T1 line, the multilink circuit stops bouncing.  As soon as I issue a "no shut" command on that fourth T1 interface, the multilink circuit starts flapping, ping commands start to time out and I have to shut it down again.  The Telco has sent a technician to both locations and reported all tests run clean.  Internal wiring from the NIU to the router has also tested fine.  I've tried to move the T1 lines to different ports on both routers and the problem persists. [code]

We are trying to limit our network disruptions by creating a new MLP bundle group and connect it to the new provider, but are having no luck. In a GNS3 lab I have setup I am able to keep my existing MLP bundle up/up over the current provider network. When I attempt to bring up a new MLP group to the other provider my MLP does not come up and keeps going up/up then down/down and shows inactive. Is it possible to have one MLP group go to current vendor router, then create another MLP group and go to the other router?

Cisco WAN :: 2951 - QoS For Voice On Multi-Link Frame Relay Interface / Subinterface

Jan 10, 2012

QoS on an MFR interface/subinterfaces. We have a remote site with two bundled T1's terminating on a 2951 router for a total bandwidth of 3072. The circuit is provided by Paetec and the subinterfaces are designated for internet and MPLS traffic respectively. The issue we are facing is with outbound voice quality. It seems that no matter how we apply QoS, either to the main MFR interface or the MFR subinterfaces, voice packets do not seem to be prioritized. We tried FRTS, which slowed the entire link down to a crawl, we tried applying a class map to the main interface as well as a service policy, none of which seemed to affect anything.

class-map match-all VOICE
match ip dscp ef
class-map match-any SIGNALING
match ip dscp af31
match ip dscp cs3 (code)

Do the cisco 4503 switches support virtual clustering feature ? I have a requirement where switch ports on two different 4503 switches need to combined in the same Link aggregation group . This is needed because the firewall notes say that the aggregated interfaces need to be conected to a single switch and combined in the same LAG .  So according to the diagram below , the interfaces marked RED need to be in the same LAG in the switches , same for the interfaces marked BLUE . I have done the same setup using Juniper switches where it uses VIRTUAL CLUSTERING to group the different switch ports in the same LAG.

Cisco WAN :: 1841 Floating Static Routes Configured If DSL Link Goes Down

Sep 19, 2011

I am having some trouble configuring dual NAT on a Cisco 1841.

The 1841 has three interfaces.
Fa0/0 - LAN
Fa0/1- Different private network
Fa0/1/0 - Connection to DSL modem

NAT overloading is configured on Fa0/1 and we have traffic that must be router there. We would like to have all internet access go through the DSL modem. Currently internet access is obtained through fa0/1 but is not ideal. I have floating static routes configured if the DSL link goes down. (Which is currently unplugged) I do not have physical access to the router at this moment. We would like to keep the config a simple as possible. It seems like route-maps may be one of our only options.

Cisco WAN :: Multi-cast Within Vrf On 7200's

We have network consisting of approx. 8 7200's running LNS/MPLS/BGP and we provide predominantly private networks to clients(Majority of client networks are a mix of Ethernet tails and DSL).We have received a request from one client to support multicast - Having never implemented multicast, have a few questions:

1. Is is supported/possible to provide multicast within a vrf on 7200's?(From initial investigations, it appears to be)

2. Is it possible to only enable mutilcast in a vrf(i.e. not globally)?

3. Any recommended guides/best pratices?(Googling has revealed nothing really that is similiar to what we want to do)4. What are the potential ramifications?(Resource overhead, Security implications, anything else?)

Cisco :: Building A Multi Site Network?

Jan 18, 2013

I wish to build a test rig in my office that will act as 2 separate geographic locations with a router at each location connecting to a make believe MPLS kind of network. I then wish for these sites to communicate with each other but obviously be on separate IP ranges .I know each site would have a router and I assume that there ideally should be 2 corresponding (provider) routers on the MPLS network. What I do not know is how the the routers at each site should connect physically to its partner router at the MPLS and also how the two MPLS routers would connect together. For example, if I wanted to later scale up to have 4 geographical sites how would the 4 MPLS routers connect together (using a switch?)?

Cisco :: OSPF Multi Access Network

Feb 10, 2013

OK. I think Im going crazy here. Im studying OSPF and I'm working on the DR/BDR election process. I have a topology where three devices (RIDs 1.1.1.1, 2.2.2.2, and 9.9.9.9) are on the same ethernet segment so they need to elect a DR. 9.9.9.9 is a switch and Im using a SVI for the OSPF interface. Van't get the darn thing to show up in the post but here is the topology.URl After OSPF came up, I noticed that router2 was selected as the DR and that switch1 was selected as the BDR. I thought initially that it was a matter of timing and that perhaps router2 just came up first and the slower SVI interface came up second. Shutdown the interfaces, cleared the OSPF process, and set the OSPF router priority on the VLAN interface to 10.

Cisco WAN :: 7200 - BGP Multi Ingress / Egress QoS

Nov 4, 2012

I have a question that so far I haven't been able to find a suitable answer for. This is focused from an ISP perspective. So suppose I have the following scenario:

I have a BGP transit area. On each edge of the my network I have a e BGP connection to the same client for redundancy. This client has his own ASN, iBGP and prefixes. I'm receiving the same NLRI from the client through both sides. Let's assume he's advertzing the prefix 10.10.0.0/16 through both ends. I'm receiving it with no problems and I'm passing it along to the next providers with whom I also have multiple ingress and egress points.

Something like this:
                                                       PROVIDER A                                   PROVIDER A
                                                                 |                                                  |
                                                            eBGP                                             eBGP
                                                                 |                                                  |
CLIENT A (ASN65100) --- eBGP --- MYROUTERA(ASN65200) ----- iBGP --- MYROUTERB(ASN65200) --- eBGP --- CLIENT A(ASN65100)
                                                                 |                                                  |
                                                            eBGP                                             eBGP
                                                                 |                                                  |
                                                       PROVIDER B                                   PROVIDER B

Let's say my client pays for a 10Mb. Both links are configured to 10Mb so that each can handle the load in case the other one fails and both are always active. So my question is:

How can I shaped or police the client's traffic across multiple points of entry on different routers so that it won't go beyond the 10Mb. The same scenario applies on how can I limit traffic coming from the providers A, and B destined to the client's prefix: 10.10.0.0/16.

I don't mean using MED, local-pref, weight. Sure I can funnel all the traffic through one single point, but consider that I'm also trying to move away from basic routing and more into PfR, which mean that I have more granular control of the flows. Perhaps there is a PfR service-policy or something that can work.

For this scenario I'm using 7200 as my routers. If there is a solution that assumes any other model don't hesitate to post it. TLDR; How can I police or shape across multi interfaces on different routers?
