D-Link DIR-655 :: Cannot Use Multi-cast MAC Address In WDS
Mar 26, 2010
Recently upgraded to 1.33NA. I keep getting this message when changing certain settings (such as enabling a guest zone). It's essentially locking me out of changing the system! As far as I know - the DIR-655 DOESN'T have WDS - this was removed a number of firmware revisions ago. I cannot find a setting for this anywhere. There are a few mentions of this on this forum and the web, but nothing concrete as to why it's happening or a valid solution.[url]...

We have network consisting of approx. 8 7200's running LNS/MPLS/BGP and we provide predominantly private networks to clients(Majority of client networks are a mix of Ethernet tails and DSL).We have received a request from one client to support multicast - Having never implemented multicast, have a few questions:
1. Is is supported/possible to provide multicast within a vrf on 7200's?(From initial investigations, it appears to be)
2. Is it possible to only enable mutilcast in a vrf(i.e. not globally)?
3. Any recommended guides/best pratices?(Googling has revealed nothing really that is similiar to what we want to do)4. What are the potential ramifications?(Resource overhead, Security implications, anything else?)

We have a NEXUS 7000 running PIM SM. A checkpoint firewall is networke to it configured for PIM Dense mode. The RP is configured on the NEXUS Siwtch that the firewall is connected to.The firewall statically forwards multicast to the NEXUS.
I need the NEXUS to register the Multi cast so it can be routed to other networks.I've been able to get it working with 3750's but no answer.

I have a network with several catalyst 2960 switches and one catalyst 3750. I have created two VLAN and set up the proper routing and everything is working fine there. I have a client/server application that used multicast in the initial start up for the client to determine available servers, the issue is one of my clients is on a different VLAN then the server. I am able to route the multicast using MVR as long as both the server and the client are plugged into the 3750 by creating a static route, making the server a source port and the client a receive port. Unfortunately I need the client and the server plugged in to different 2960s. My question is how do I establish multicast routing between the two and perferably do it dynamically (always route multicast traffic from one VLAN to another).

transport the serial0 and serial1 from a remote route to a local router at his local serial0 interface. The routing mechanism is very easy, it like a RS485, incoming data at the local router is trasmited to the remote serial0 and serial1. If some data income at the serial0 or serial1 at the remote, this data travel to the local an is printed into de local serial0 Remote Serial0 and Serial1 ends at the local Serial0. The local Serial0 starts and ends at the remote Serial0 and Serial1.Both serials are RS-232 (is a async-protocol group)The RS-232 protocol is UNADDRESSED The application is a back-up serial link.
My Config is:
LOCAL R236:
bstun peer-name 192.168.33.236
bstun protocol-group 10 async-generic
interface serial0
physical-layer async
[code]....
If i debug the BSTUN PACKET:
*Mar 7 02:31:18.182: %BSTUN-3-NOPEER: No peer configured to route frame with destination address 0 (bstun group 10)
At the Cisco IOS Software System Error Messages ARAP Error Messages Manual notes:
BSTUN-3-NOPEER: No peer configured to route frame with destination address
[chars] (bstun group [dec])
Explanation A BSTUN route has not been configured for the frame with a destination address.Recommended Action If this message appears while you are debugging BSTUN, it indicates that no specific BSTUN route has been configured for the frames being received with the device address listed in the packet debug trace. You may choose to configure a BSTUN route, or ignore this message.I know that the address must be content on the frames that income at the serial port interface, I mean the router fordward the frames if this have some BYTE and the start that indicate what is address of a remote device, so i guess that this routing mechanism use that byte to select the remote router. But If I set the address at the local and remote route, the router is not who must include his own address in the frame? If I set a point to point link, the only way if I want to transport more that 1 link,? for now the only way is set TWO groups and set one for first link ant the other for the second. (Serial0--Group1--Serial0 and Serial1--Group2--Serial1)The router do not let me set the same group ant the same route. where at the Serial interface i set the LOCAL ADDRESS for a BSTUN protocol?

I'm trying to find out what platforms support Multilink PPP with Link Fragmentation and Interleaving over a single link, when that single link is PPPoE. In searching the documentation, the best information I can find is that it seems to be supported in one direction on the ASR1000 url...Many platforms appear to support PPPoE and also MLPPP w/LFI, but it's not clear that both features are supported on the same link.
The application is a radio that has an Ethernet interface on its terrestrial link, and acts as an Ethernet bridge. Would like to use Multilink PPPoE with LFI in order to provide LFI in order to run VoIP over lower speed links (e.g 256kb). For what it's worth, the radio also supports RFC 5578 PPPoE Extensions for Credit Flow and Link Metrics. It was fairly easy to find what platforms support RFC 5578. But RFC 5578 would be used to support variation in the capacity of the link. If the link speed is fixed, RFC 5578 is not needed. I was trying to find if the set of platforms supported increase if the need for RFC 5578 is taken off the table.
In particular, I'd be interested in the whether the ASR 9000 series supports MLPPP bundles with LFI when the links are PPPoE.

I have a site which has been successfully running a multilink bundle of four T1 lines for about 6 months. The remote location is a C3825 router and the central location router is a C7206. I have access to both. A few weeks ago the multilink circuit started flapping and I was able to identify one of the four T1 lines as the culprit. When I shut down the interface for that one T1 line, the multilink circuit stops bouncing. As soon as I issue a "no shut" command on that fourth T1 interface, the multilink circuit starts flapping, ping commands start to time out and I have to shut it down again. The Telco has sent a technician to both locations and reported all tests run clean. Internal wiring from the NIU to the router has also tested fine. I've tried to move the T1 lines to different ports on both routers and the problem persists. [code]

we are moving to different providers. We currently have multiple sites that have MLP bundles going to our current provider. We are trying to limit our network disruptions by creating a new MLP bundle group and connect it to the new provider, but are having no luck. In a GNS3 lab I have setup I am able to keep my existing MLP bundle up/up over the current provider network. When I attempt to bring up a new MLP group to the other provider my MLP does not come up and keeps going up/up then down/down and shows inactive. Is it possible to have one MLP group go to current vendor router, then create another MLP group and go to the other router?

QoS on an MFR interface/subinterfaces. We have a remote site with two bundled T1's terminating on a 2951 router for a total bandwidth of 3072. The circuit is provided by Paetec and the subinterfaces are designated for internet and MPLS traffic respectively. The issue we are facing is with outbound voice quality. It seems that no matter how we apply QoS, either to the main MFR interface or the MFR subinterfaces, voice packets do not seem to be prioritized. We tried FRTS, which slowed the entire link down to a crawl, we tried applying a class map to the main interface as well as a service policy, none of which seemed to affect anything.
class-map match-all VOICE
match ip dscp ef
class-map match-any SIGNALING
match ip dscp af31
match ip dscp cs3 (code)

I have a Nexus 3064 which is not recording source MAC addresses after a successful ARP. The switch is then flooding the entire vlan with unicast traffic.
The config is a boring single VLAN. One port (48) is going to a 6509. Not as a trunk, just extending the VLAN. There are SVI's on both switches. the default route for the Nexus users is the 6509's IP.The switch was basically, pulled out of the box, setup a single vlan(with jumbo frames) andan SVI, then plugged in the users. Nothing special.

Do the cisco 4503 switches support virtual clustering feature ? I have a requirement where switch ports on two different 4503 switches need to combined in the same Link aggregation group . This is needed because the firewall notes say that the aggregated interfaces need to be conected to a single switch and combined in the same LAG . So according to the diagram below , the interfaces marked RED need to be in the same LAG in the switches , same for the interfaces marked BLUE . I have done the same setup using Juniper switches where it uses VIRTUAL CLUSTERING to group the different switch ports in the same LAG.

I want to monitor our backup server (commvault) as it is saying it's library (Data Domain) is going off line.[code] The issue is I am seeing a lot of unicast traffic (on Wireshark) that has nothing to do with the server on E2/11. Some of it is from different VLANs... There is way too much data (multi-Mbps) to keep wireshark running very long to capture our intermitten problem.

Before I get into asking questions about the routers, firewall, and static IP though I want to knock out the most base problem. I plugged a computer directly into my cable modem, disabled the windows firewall, tried canyouseeme.org, and couldn't connect to any ports anywhere in the spectrum. I would assume that being plugged directly into the modem that all ports should be wide open. The port I was originally trying to open was 8093. I called my cable provider and the tech told me that I'm not allowed to have port forwarding in a range as high as 8093 without a business account. I asked the tech what range I could use and he said he didn't know. I did some searching on the net and found that on a typical home cable connection I'm allowed ports 1 through 1024, so I tried numbers all over that spectrum on canyouseeme.org and got no response from any of them. Again, this was while plugged directly into my cable modem with an ethernet cable and my windows firewall disabled. From what I know this has to be wrong in some way, as to use the internet at all I have to have ports available. The only possibility I can think of is that maybe canyouseeme.org is flawed in some way. So the first in a long series of questions to come is why am I unable to find any open ports while plugged directly into my cable modem with my windows firewall disabled?

With the risk of sounding like I'm looking for a "personal shopper", I'm looking for your opinions on a new wireless router for a small business. We already have a WatchGuard firewall. We are just looking to provide visitors and staff wireless access. We want visitors to only be able to access the internet, but we want staff to be able to access the corporate network as if they were plugged in via Ethernet. (RADIUS - AD authentication).

I've just installed two ACS 5.2 appliances and I'm trying to get them to join my domain, I've setup an account that has the relevant permissions (tested the account on a laptop and it can join the machine to the domain).
The ACS keeps coming back with an invalid credentials to join the domain error despite the fact that I know the user in question has the correct permissions.
I have a suspicion that the problem is related to how the ACS handles the Active Directory Domain, we have a large domain that spans several domain controllers. The DNS server uses round robin DNS to serve a different DC's IP each time, however a typical windows laptop is aware of what controllers it's allowed to use whereas the ACS box doesn't appear to be.
The ACS servers are located in a network in the UK that is only allowed to talk to 2/6 DC's and I have no way of controlling what IP appears when the ACS tries to join the domain due to the round robin DNS.
Is there any way to get around this? Or any way to hard code a specific DC for the server to connect to? Even being able to add the DNS manually to a hosts file would work.

So I like to configure something like:65.11.22.44 <-> 192.168.1.100.This translation is good for all protocols and all ports. Where I can configure this on the DIR655?

I have a device(internet radio) that seems to require an address format of 192.168.xxx.xxx. The router does not do this range and I cannot set it to that range ( the first three xxx). If I try the router defaults back to 192.168.x.xxx. Any way to over come this so I can connect the radio (which works fine wired as the ISP can supply a 192.168.xxx.xxx IP address).

I wish to build a test rig in my office that will act as 2 separate geographic locations with a router at each location connecting to a make believe MPLS kind of network. I then wish for these sites to communicate with each other but obviously be on separate IP ranges .I know each site would have a router and I assume that there ideally should be 2 corresponding (provider) routers on the MPLS network. What I do not know is how the the routers at each site should connect physically to its partner router at the MPLS and also how the two MPLS routers would connect together. For example, if I wanted to later scale up to have 4 geographical sites how would the 4 MPLS routers connect together (using a switch?)?

This is my network topology. Sometimes it just suddenly loses conenctivity or traffic for unknown reasons, like the internet hangs for much time or maybe some routers just stop responding, even restarting ! Do you think there should be a Multi-WAN router that could take 4 WAN lines and give one LAN to plug at a switch for a better performance ?I know that my setup is wrong, give me your opinion about it and how to fix it .

OK. I think Im going crazy here. Im studying OSPF and I'm working on the DR/BDR election process. I have a topology where three devices (RIDs 1.1.1.1, 2.2.2.2, and 9.9.9.9) are on the same ethernet segment so they need to elect a DR. 9.9.9.9 is a switch and Im using a SVI for the OSPF interface. Van't get the darn thing to show up in the post but here is the topology.URl After OSPF came up, I noticed that router2 was selected as the DR and that switch1 was selected as the BDR. I thought initially that it was a matter of timing and that perhaps router2 just came up first and the slower SVI interface came up second. Shutdown the interfaces, cleared the OSPF process, and set the OSPF router priority on the VLAN interface to 10.

Is it possible to install LMS 4.2 in multiserver mode but with possibility to select installed components/applications? I'm talking about Solaris version. I can't see such an option. It will install all the components on every server which I don't want to. We have LMS 3.2 working in such setup: one server with most major components, other running just DFM and third one with only HUM installed.

I have a question that so far I haven't been able to find a suitable answer for. This is focused from an ISP perspective. So suppose I have the following scenario:
I have a BGP transit area. On each edge of the my network I have a e BGP connection to the same client for redundancy. This client has his own ASN, iBGP and prefixes. I'm receiving the same NLRI from the client through both sides. Let's assume he's advertzing the prefix 10.10.0.0/16 through both ends. I'm receiving it with no problems and I'm passing it along to the next providers with whom I also have multiple ingress and egress points.
Something like this:
PROVIDER A PROVIDER A

eBGP eBGP

CLIENT A (ASN65100) --- eBGP --- MYROUTERA(ASN65200) ----- iBGP --- MYROUTERB(ASN65200) --- eBGP --- CLIENT A(ASN65100)

eBGP eBGP

PROVIDER B PROVIDER B
Let's say my client pays for a 10Mb. Both links are configured to 10Mb so that each can handle the load in case the other one fails and both are always active. So my question is:
How can I shaped or police the client's traffic across multiple points of entry on different routers so that it won't go beyond the 10Mb. The same scenario applies on how can I limit traffic coming from the providers A, and B destined to the client's prefix: 10.10.0.0/16.
I don't mean using MED, local-pref, weight. Sure I can funnel all the traffic through one single point, but consider that I'm also trying to move away from basic routing and more into PfR, which mean that I have more granular control of the flows. Perhaps there is a PfR service-policy or something that can work.
For this scenario I'm using 7200 as my routers. If there is a solution that assumes any other model don't hesitate to post it. TLDR; How can I police or shape across multi interfaces on different routers?
