Cisco WAN :: 6506 / 7206 - OSPF And BGP On Same Router?

Jan 18, 2012

I have a scenario with a Cisco 6506 and a 7206. The 6506 is running BGP and peers with our data center router. The 7206 is a stub router off the 6506 and is used as an edge router for customer T1 circuits. I want to use OSPF between the routers to exchange connected and static routes. The problem I have is that static BGP null routes on the 6506 are overriding the OSPF routes being received from the 7206. Example: The 6506 is advertising a class C network 192.168.1.0/24 to our data center. The 6506 does not utilize the 192.168.1.0/24 network. It is only used on the 7206 for customer T1 circuits and is carved up into /29 subnets. So the 6506 has a static route: ip route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 null 0. Today the routing is accomplished with static routes on the 6506 for the 192.168.1.0 networks on the 7206. Using OSPF the 7206 advertises /29 links back to the 6506, but when I withdraw one of the /29 static routes from the 6506, the /24 null route takes precedence over the more specific /29 routes and the traffic is black-holed on the 6506. how can I get the OSPF routes to look preferable to the /24 null route on the 6506?

Cisco WAN :: 7206 - Load Balancing Multi-homed BGP Internet Connections

Jan 30, 2011

I have DS3's to two different providers.  Each is hosted on its own 7206.  The 7206's are connected to each other and both connections to the internet route traffic in and out just fine.  Failover between the two is working as well.  The issue I have is that one DS3 is used more than the other because it has the best route to most of our remote offices.  I wanted to see if theres a way to make one of my routers posess a more attractive route to a given subnet.  Of course, in the event of a router or provider failure, I would want the other router to start routing the traffic for that office.

Cisco WAN :: 2951 - QoS For Voice On Multi-Link Frame Relay Interface / Subinterface

Jan 10, 2012

QoS on an MFR interface/subinterfaces. We have a remote site with two bundled T1's terminating on a 2951 router for a total bandwidth of 3072. The circuit is provided by Paetec and the subinterfaces are designated for internet and MPLS traffic respectively. The issue we are facing is with outbound voice quality. It seems that no matter how we apply QoS, either to the main MFR interface or the MFR subinterfaces, voice packets do not seem to be prioritized. We tried FRTS, which slowed the entire link down to a crawl, we tried applying a class map to the main interface as well as a service policy, none of which seemed to affect anything.

class-map match-all VOICE
match ip dscp ef
class-map match-any SIGNALING
match ip dscp af31
match ip dscp cs3 (code)

Cisco :: OSPF Multi Access Network

Feb 10, 2013

OK. I think Im going crazy here. Im studying OSPF and I'm working on the DR/BDR election process. I have a topology where three devices (RIDs 1.1.1.1, 2.2.2.2, and 9.9.9.9) are on the same ethernet segment so they need to elect a DR. 9.9.9.9 is a switch and Im using a SVI for the OSPF interface. Van't get the darn thing to show up in the post but here is the topology.URl After OSPF came up, I noticed that router2 was selected as the DR and that switch1 was selected as the BDR. I thought initially that it was a matter of timing and that perhaps router2 just came up first and the slower SVI interface came up second. Shutdown the interfaces, cleared the OSPF process, and set the OSPF router priority on the VLAN interface to 10.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3570 / Multi-process OSPF Redistribution And Failover?

Feb 7, 2013

I have two ospf processes running on a single 3570 edge router that has a dedicated transport circuit back to our network core. We are adding an additional "transport" only circuit into a new location that is also apart of the second ospf process backbone which will connect back to our core. There will also be a 3750 for this new circuit termination. Currently we are only redistributing ospf process 2 into ospf process 1 (1 = core backbone).

#router ospf 1
#redistribute ospf 2 subnet

We have no need to have ospf process 1 redistributed into the process 2 tables. That being said, when we add an additional transport ciruit, or path back to our core backbone, will this configuration present any issues with the redistribution process and failover.

Does OSPF work between a VSS L3 MEC & an ASA Redundant Interface? Both 6509 are in VSS and a L3 MEC is formed to the ASA.Both ASA ports are a part of a L3 Redundant Interface. Please note there is only a single ASA in this topology. Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560G Can Ping Devices In Enterprise LAN But Cannot Ping Interface

Mar 31, 2012

I have a new 3560G to set up a small network for a remote site. I configured the vlan and an SVI as the gateway. The switch is also the DHCP server for the LAN. I configured Gi0/2 as L3 port, connecting to the nearest neighbor. My network runs EIGRP so i advertised the routes into the EIGRP process. The switch forms EIGRP neighbors and learns all routes in the enterprise network. The problems I'm having now are: 1. The switch learns all routes in my enterprise LAN and can ping devices in the enterprise LAN, but I can’t ping any interface on the switch from the enterprise LAN. 2.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6500 / Can't Ping From OSPF Network To HSRP Segment

Aug 21, 2012

We have an OSPF network with four 6500 Distribution Switches.  They are fully meshed and see each other as peers and are sharing routes.  Off of one pair (Border)  there is a setup of 3750G  siwtches that go off to another network and they do not run OSPF.  Between the Border Dist and the 3750G Switches we run HSRP.  The 3750G side uses HSRP GP 192 and the Dist Side uses HSRP 192.There are static routes on the 3750G pointing to the Dist HSRP address to get back to network.Pings fail from the OSPF side to the HSRP address on the 3750G side.If I do a trace from the OSPF side to the HSRP address it hits one border dist switch then the other and fails. If I have static routes on both border dist switches pointing to the HSRP on the 3750side, do we need to change the metric on one dist so that it is preferred over the other or should the router Id take care of that?

Cisco WAN :: 7600s / Auto Add Of Subinterfaces As No Passive-interface In OSPF?

May 29, 2011

I've been having a problem with my cisco routers (7600s) where sub-interfaces that we create for ldp tunnels are added automatically to the main ospf process as no passive when created. In order, here is how to reproduce the issue:

- Configure ospf process as "passive-interface default"

- Configure interfaces that have to be active as "no passive-interface blah"

- ospf works as expected.

- Create new sub- interface somewhere with encapsulation on a certain vlan for xconnect.

- New sub-interface gets added as "no passive-interface" in main ospf process.

- When adding a new port-channel interface, behavior is the same.

Is that normal for cisco, should I continue removing sub-interfaces manually every time from the ospf process?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Nexus 7010 OSPF Passive-interface Default Not Showing

Nov 6, 2011

I'm currently working on a plan to migrate our 6500's over to our new 7010's.  At the time of the migration I want to tighten up our OSPF design and configure OSPF for "passive-interface default" then allow only those interfaces that should have OSPF neighbors to send the hellos.  The issue is that the command is not showing up under the OSPF process.  What's even more interesting is that the Nexus 5.x Unicast Routing Configuration Guide shows that the "passive-interface default" command should be an option to enter.

I'm currently running version 5.1(4) (though looking to upgrade to 5.2 during my migration testing).  I would rather configure the passive-interface via the routing process versus having to enter it on every interface.

Cisco WAN :: ASR1000 Multi-link PPPoE With LFI

Mar 26, 2013

I'm trying to find out what platforms support Multilink PPP with Link Fragmentation and Interleaving over a single link, when that single link is PPPoE.  In searching the documentation, the best information I can find is that it seems to be supported in one direction on the ASR1000 url...Many platforms appear to support PPPoE and also MLPPP w/LFI, but it's not clear that both features are supported on the same link.

The application is a radio that has an Ethernet interface on its terrestrial link, and acts as an Ethernet bridge.  Would like to use Multilink PPPoE with LFI in order to provide LFI in order to run VoIP over lower speed links (e.g 256kb).  For what it's worth, the radio also supports RFC 5578 PPPoE Extensions for Credit Flow and Link Metrics.  It was fairly easy to find what platforms support RFC 5578.  But RFC 5578 would be used to support variation in the capacity of the link.  If the link speed is fixed, RFC 5578 is not needed.  I was trying to find if the set of platforms supported increase if the need for RFC 5578 is taken off the table.

In particular, I'd be interested in the whether the ASR 9000 series supports MLPPP bundles with LFI when the links are PPPoE.

Cisco VPN :: Adding New Peer Without Removing Cmap From Interface 2900

Dec 10, 2012

I have a frustrating issue with a dynamic VPN head end running IOS 15.2 on 2900's. I have existing keyrings, and isakmp profiles (both main and agressive) running. When I add in a new peer, by adding in a keyring prechared statement and a match identity in the isakmp profile, phase 1 biulds but phase 2 only gets right to the end and the Cisco side resets the connection because it did not get back a response to it's Phase 2 proposal.I have tried a number of soft clear commands to remedy this (I do have 16 other production tunnels I do not want to take down) and no avail. This is very consistent. We had this happen last week in the same manner, and the TAC finally said I must reboot the system. So I removed the cmap from the interface, and reapplied it (using notepad to do it all at once). All the tunnels dropped, and after a few manual restarts on the far end for thos etunnels that are tempermental, all tunnels came back up, including my new add.I have a pair of 3900's running 15.1 code in the US that terminate the same tunnels, and I can add and remove PEERS all day long without resetting anything. Could there be a more polite way of resetting what ever it is that removing the CMAP does to allow my new peer to get the full treatment here?

crypto pki token default removal timeout 0
crypto keyring Site-to-Site
pre-shared-key address a.a.a.a key lkdshjfhjkdsfkjfsjkddedswdes
pre-shared-key address b.b.b.b key lkdshjfhjkdsfkjfsjkddedswdes

I just negate this and re-add and new peers start working.

Cisco WAN :: C7206 Multi-link Four T1 Circuits / 4th T1 Won't Bundle

Feb 1, 2011

I have a site which has been successfully running a multilink bundle of four T1 lines for about 6 months.  The remote location is a C3825 router and the central location router is a C7206.  I have access to both.  A few weeks ago the multilink circuit started flapping and I was able to identify one of the four T1 lines as the culprit.  When I shut down the interface for that one T1 line, the multilink circuit stops bouncing.  As soon as I issue a "no shut" command on that fourth T1 interface, the multilink circuit starts flapping, ping commands start to time out and I have to shut it down again.  The Telco has sent a technician to both locations and reported all tests run clean.  Internal wiring from the NIU to the router has also tested fine.  I've tried to move the T1 lines to different ports on both routers and the problem persists. [code]
