Cisco Routers :: Wrvs4400n Firmware Upgrade With VPN
May 12, 2013
I have three locations using the linksys wrvs4400n router with IPSec VPNS. They all work fine and point back to a Server2003. I just added a fourth location with the same router but this new router has firmware v2.x, where the others have firmware v1.x. When I connected the new router into the VPN network, it caused the other tunnels to go down. When I take the new router with firmware v2.x offline, everything else seems to work fine.
Can the v2.x firmware cause the other VPNS on v1.x firmware to go down and not work properly? Do I need to upgrade the firmware so all 4 linksys wrvs4400n routers are operating the same version number so not to cause the tunnels to disconnect?

We need to update the firmware for a small business router WRVS4400N. Unfortunately, I can't even burn the ISO file to CD after downloading it as instructed. I get the following error message: "The selected disk image file Isn't valid." I'm using a Windows 7 Ultimate computer.
I downloaded the proper firmware update for my version V2.0.1.3 router several times, but each time I get the same message.
The main reason we purchased this router for our business for for the extra layer of protection with ProtectLink. It has been over two years now, and we still have not got our ProtectLink service installed because we are unable to install the service until the firmware is updated.
After doing some research online, we found-out that the ISO file needs to be padded to 2 Kb in order to be valid for burning. The ISO firmware file you provide for this update is not according to my calculations. We have no way of converting the file myself and don't know what to do about this situation.
We are extremely taken-back at the fact that I must submit my issue here on a forum rather than address the issue directly to Cisco Support. We are very disappointed with Cisco support as they appear to want to charge additional money just to get an initial shipped-problem remedied. You would think that the company that essential built the internet infrastructure would be more considerate to their customers. We will never purchase another Cisco product given this level of terrible support.
I am using a Linksys WRVS4400N V1 running firmware 1.1.08 and although generally performance is good there are a few issues which I was hoping a firmware update could fix, however I cannot find it anywhere on the Cisco website.
Since 3 Days, i use a WRVS4400N v2, boarded with the newest firmware V2.0.0.8-ETSI. I configured Router and QOS and it worked fine. Yesterday, i upped the IPS Signature to the latest Version 1.42 (RVS4000_WRVS4400N_IPS_Signature_v1.42.zip).Now I have the same Problem like here:
[code].....
I add a service in Service Management an if I use this service in the priority table, another (one of the default) service appeared. The Problem: I did not have Version1, but Version 2 an no newer firmware is available at the Cisco site. I also never upgraded the firmware, because the latest available is installed. I also reset the Router to factory defaults and reconfige it, but the problem still occurs. I also used different browsers to configure (IE, FF, Opera). Next strange thing: If i add more than 10 services in the service management, and use this in the priority table, the whole QOS-Page is corrupt. The Router automatically disable QOS and if I want to enable it, there is no Priority Table or Save Button on the site. There's a bug in the select list, because only a few entries of the default services are shown.
I have firmware version 2.0.2.7. I've down loaded the firmware upgrade utility ver 1.3, and do not see a read me or help file. I've disconnected the cables as directed, but recive a 'broadcast error' and a 'browse device error'
I am trying to upgrade my RV016 hardware version 1, Firmware version 1.3.2 to firmware version 2.0.0. but can't find the file. Locating RV016_2.0.0? I am trying to upgrade to version 3.0.0.1
I've just purchased 2 RVS4000. The units, which are V2, have been shipped with firmware 2.0.0.3. It seems this version suffers from multiple vulnerabilities I would like to fix asap. Unfortunately, I was unable to upgrade to 2.0.2.7.
One one of the units, I went through the upgrade process via the admin interface. It seemed to work, though it got tucked at 100% - which is a known issue, as per the release notes - but then, instead of having my unit upgraded as advertised when going back to the home page. It seems I'm stuck in 2.0.0.3. I tried the upgrade a couple of times without any success before posting here.
On top of that, the other unit I have is on another site, far from where I am at the moment. It is also a 2.0.0.3 firmware. I didn't try the upgrade, as I prefer to be on site when doing this type of things, this will be the case next week. This other unit seems to be much more responsive than the one I tried to upgrade without success. On the one I have now with me, I have plenty of freezes every time, it can take up to 5mn for the device to respond to a query. The other one I'm managing remotely does not show these problems. Also, even though the units are the same, the "faulty" one seems to have issues to keep all the settings properly. For example, key lifetimes get always reset to 0 sec, and I have to fill 28800 and 3600 each time I make a change in the configuration. Again, the remote one does not have this issue.
So my questions are : - Any info on this kind of issues with the RVS4000 ? - Is it normal 2 units purchased at the same time, which have been shipped with the same firmware, behave differently ? - Is it possible I have a faulty hardware ?
I've been having the lockup issue with the SRP527W (in fact this has been an extremely embarrassing situation after spending 4 x what I could have on a Net gear type unit, to do the same task). I've not yet managed to get hold of the new firmware (MR3) as I've not received the email with a link.
On another note, I'm not sure if this has been covered in other posts, but, when my unit stops working (Wireless still alive, no internet) - the CPU hits and stays at 100% and only a reboot fixes it.
I use cisco rvs4000v2. I had to restore the factory settings, and I use Cisco RVS4000 Firmware Upgrade Utility version 1.3. But I did not know that it is for Cisco RVS4000v1. The utility will install RVS4000 firmware v1.3.0.5. Now I can not restore to factory settings.how do I restore the factory firmware cisco rvs4000v2?
I just bought RV042G with serial number NKS16120688 to replace old RV042 which is cannot upgrade to new version firmware(from above V.4).After I connect to my TOT isp modem to new rv042g, the router distributes ip (DHCP), get dns from isp normally but it cannot connect the internet at all.It seems this new firmware is not compatible with tot isp in Thailand while old rv042 with old firmware can run smoothly.I have to try many things such as change wan port, change modem and also buy another new RV016, but results still the same.
I have a rv082 small business router and the current firmware will not apply. I downloaded the v4.04 firmware update and tried to apply it yet the update does not seem to work. I have downloaded it a second time and used the UPDATE FIRMWARE button to load and apply but no change.
Tried upgrading my firmware to 4.0.2.08-tm and now I cannot log in via the web interface. The router boots and gets out to the internet. It still allows incoming vpn connections. The login screen displays and will display an error message if I use incorrect credentials, but if I log in properly and am directed to the routers web config homepage at "192.168.1.1/default.htm", I get a 404 error message. Telnet does not work either (not sure if it's on, never used it before) 404 Not FoundThe requested server-side-includes filename, /usr/local/EasyAccess/www/htdocs/default.htm, does not seem to exist. As if the web pages after the login screen got removed or corrupted after the update.
SN is NKS10403247
I realize there is a newer version. Attempted the upgrade incrementally since I could not find documentation specifiying if that was required or not.
Currently on V1.3.0.5. Looking to upgrade to latest version, however the upgrade firmware page is greyed out. Same under Firefox 9 or IE 8. I have already rebooted router, with no change in behavior.
I have upgrade the firmware on several RV082 (and RV042) model routers, and all of them have had subsequent WAN connectivity loss. The WAN works for a while, then stops working until the router is restarted, then fails shortly thereafter. I would assume it was some configuration corruption on incompatibility with the upgrade, but the symptom has been universal. EVERY 2.x upgrade I've made to a RV082 or RV042 router has exhibited this symptom. Reverting to the 1.3.98-tm firmware fixes the issue.
This morning i upgraded a remote RV082 to 4.2.0.1 from 4.0.4.1. Numbers could be off slightly since i'm going from memory. I never got the normal acknowledgement the transfer was complete but after an ample amount of time closed the tunnel from my end, re- established my vpn but when i went to log in i received: RV082 firmware upgrade error? The requested server-side-includes filename, /usr/local/EasyAccess/www/htdocs/default.htm, does not seem to exist./quotei googled it and found similar occurrences with earlier upgrades. I'm assuming it didn't reboot itself upon completion of the xfer, at least i'm hoping a cold reboot will correct this but as i'm remote and this install doesn't have an ethernet power controller i'm stuck until monday. Should i bring a spare RV082 just in case.
I have a problem with a brand new RV042 v3 hardware,I upgraded the firmware from 4.1 to 4.2 and now can not see the web interface in firefox, the login appears and the left menu appears, but at the right nothing is shown
I tried doing the firmware rescue util but the same problem happens.if this a know issue? Should I RMA it?
I am trying to update my firmware from v1 to v2 on my F5D9231-4 Router, after downloading from the support page and trying to install it I get the following error "Upgrade file is not the correct type or version for this device. Upgrade failed. Please obtain the correct file and try again" I double checked the model numbers.
F5D8233-4 N Wireless Router - Firmware Update,l I am trying to upgrade the firmware of this router which currently it's 3.01.29 to the latest one which is 4.00.04 but every time I try to manually install it, it comes back with an error message saying it's not the tight update but it is.
After upgrading the firmware on my RV042 router to version 1.3.13.02-tm, I am experiencing very slow Internet response on most sites. In some instances, when the page does load, it lacks many graphics. Frequently, I also receive a "server not found"error. In all cases, reloading the page (once it has loaded) results in a complete page display. This is occuring on two MacBook Pros and also on an iPad. The router is a version 1, so no further upgrades are available. I contacted support, but since it is out of warranty, they are unwilling to assist. Prior to the upgrade, everything worked fine, as it has for 5 years.
We have a CISCO RV042. We are about to begin a VIOP service with Vocalocity who state:
The RV042 is a wired router that requires no configuration adjustments for the firmware versions we tested. Version 1 and 2 are compatible. Version 3 is NOT. Firmware Reviewed: 1.3.12.6 | 1.3.12.19
Our router's firmware is : 1.3.8.2 (Feb 12 2007 10:43:08)
Can we upgrade to 1.3.12.6 or 1.3.12.19? What is meant by Version 1, 2 and 3?
I've downloaded the file "RV0XX-v4.1.0.02-tm.bin" from Cisco's web site. The current firmware in the RV016 router is V3. I log into the router with IE9 (or even firefox), navigate to the system management section, upgrade firmware tab. Browse to the file above and click the button to upgrade. Nothing happens for a few seconds, then the browser displays cant load this page. (Same results if I use the file "RV0XX-v4.1.1.01-sp.bin" as well.)
I have a RV220W running 1.0.1.0. When trying to upgrade to 1.0.4.17 I receive an error: "Upgrade failed due to invalid/corrupted firmware".
I found this article: [URL]
I assume I have to do a factory reset then an upgrade in order to upgrade properly.
If I do a backup running 1.0.1.0, then upgrade to 1.0.4.17, then do a restore, would that put me back to 1.0.1.0? I'm trying to avoid configuring the router manually all over again.
I attempted a firmware upgrade on my RV042. After an hour, the upgrade was still in progress. I now cannot login into the router using my user name and password (nor the old admin/admin). The router is functioning, but I fear it will eventually fail. How can I recover ability to log in? The Firmward Recovery program doesn't seem to be appropriate for this situation.
I bought belkin N150 recently. I tried to configure with my ISP. They are surprised how I don't have DHCP option in the wifi configuration and asked me to upgrade my firmware. When I tried to upgrade. I downloaded the firmware from [URL] tried to upgrade. It is showing file format error.
Now that Comcast is in the process of rolling out IPv^ to their customers nationwide, will there be a firmware update that properly displays the IPv6 /64 address as provided by the cable provider? Currently the only IPv6 address displayed is on the LAN page and is not configurable (greyed out) except for the prefix length. I already have a cable modem that will provide both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses as they are rolled out.
I currently have 3 WAP4410n's (actually, they're WAP4410N-E V02s) that have been really unreliable since I got them - so much so that we've had to cron a restart script on another server which is frankly ridiculous - they've always run firmware version 2.0.2.1.
I've tried updating the firmware to new versions in the past with no success - when I do so, it looks like everything's fine, but when I log back in, the fixed IP address information isn't shown, and the wireless is disabled. I can enable it, but I can't select a channel.
At this point, I have to revert back to the old firmware. I've tried restoring to factory setttings before and after the firmware flash, but this hasn't changed anything.
However, recently I was able to flash firmware 2.0.5.3 onto only one of the routers - it worked fine and all information was displayed and wireless enabled correctly. However on the other two, no matter what I try, the firmware won't upgrade succesfully - it looks like everything's fine, but the fixed IP information isn't shown and wireless/channels are disabled.
I have a Dir-655 A3 with the firmware 1.32NA. I cannot get the new firmware 1.35NA to take. The router seems to go through the motions of the upgrade, but at the end, when I log back on, the firmware still says 1.32NA & all custom settings remain.I have upgraded the firmware on this router before and I know that when its upgraded, the router is basically reset to factory settings. All the settings have been backed up and I am attempting this upgrade via a wired connection.
I have a DIR-655 Rev A4.I followed this forum in the past when there were many problems with firmware upgrades beyon 1.21. Because of this I never upgraded and was told to be satisfied that I can still stay with 1.21 as upgrades caused problems for a number of people.Everything still seems fine with 1.21 except the Shareport utility often does not pickup the printer connection upon booting to Windows Vista. I can always work around this by Disable and then Enable. It will then always find the printer. It is a minor annoyance however.Should I still stay with 1.21 or is upgrading to 1.35 NA recommended ? If I upgrade to 1.35 NA is there a downgrade path back to 1.21 if the upgrade does not work well ?
