Here is what I have in a simple diagram:
PC(static IP)--to--Switch--to--(Ethernet0 int, WIC0)1721 router(FastEthernet0 int, built-in)--to--Switch--to--PC(DHCP)
I need static IP PC to be able to ping the DHCP client. Static IP units 10.1.1.x/16, DHCP clients 10.1.3.x/16.
I have found these overlap and thus give errors and will even shutdown the interface if I enable certain things like routing or bridging.
So I gather I need to change one interface IP range, which would be the DHCP side, I need to stay 10.1.1.x/16 for static side.

Nov 12, 2012My ISP provides me internet connection through password protecting Access Point bearing IP address 192.168.20.1 built with IP filtering which allows only a particular IP 192.168.20.88. I am not able to access internet on more than one computers simultaneously because router allows only single IP and I am not sure what are the WAN IP's uses Access Point provided by ISP eg. IP, Gateway and DNS. My ISP provides me static IP address for home computer as mentioned below :
IP : 192.168.20.88
Gateway : 192.19.20.1
DNS: 192.168.20.1
Alt DNS : 192.168.20.1
My public IP address is 180.87.210.26.
Is there any option to add a router to bride or configure router as proxy server so that i can access internet more than one PC's simultaneously.

May 21, 2013In my office environment, my machine is configured with an IP address, Subnet Mask and a Default Gateway. The Default Gateway does not allow internet connectivity but is configured to provide us with connectivity to some server based tool.
Now in order to provide us with the internet access, a proxy server is configured via the LAN settings in the IE. The problem here is the Proxy is restricted for some sites that I need like certain technical blogs and all, which it filters out in the blogs category and does not load.
I do have another Gateway server address that I can use in Local Area Connection IPv4 Properties as Default Gateway address which removes this restriction. I thought that this should be configurable to the LAN Settings as a proxy as well. But when I do so, I lose the connection to the internet.
I am not sure if all Gateways can act as proxy servers. Or is there anything that I am doing wrong. I am using the default port 8080 in LAN Settings.I can ask this from the technician but I am not sure if he would be able to answer that as he is just a first level guy. I thought of figuring it out myself.

Mar 31, 2012I access the internet from my company�s LAN, which has a restrictive firewall, so I cannot request the admin to open any ports manually for me. Hence I use a software called your-freedom. This proxy software supports both http as well as socks 4 and 5 proxy (by entering the proxy IP 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and Port 8080 for http proxy OR 1080 for Socks Proxy), and I have successfully been using web browsers and some other softwares that support proxy/ allow proxy info to be entered to login/ connect to the internet. Your-Freedom also supports port forwarding.However, the softwares I intend to use do not have any options to enter proxy methods or proxy ports (as far as I have noticed). I have tried to proxify these 2 softwares using softwares such as SocksCap and Free Cap, but either they don�t work, or my settings in proxifying are not correct. I believe I will have to do port forwarding or proxify the softwares, but have been unable to do so in the correct manner.
Following is the info on the 2 softwares:
1.NOW Trading terminal:[FONT=Times New Roman]Normally when I start the NOW or Zerodha software, the software starts and I get a login screen, but under firewall conditions, I get the initial Splash screen but then the software stops with the error: [b][u]NOW Initialisation failed for Interactive Engine << os error>>.
2.PowerIndia Bulls:The software is written in Java and starts with a batch file (PowerIndiabulls.bat) located in C:UsersDEFAULT_USERNAMEAppD..... I converted this batch file to .exe (with battoexe software) and then ran it through a proxifying software. The .exe start properly without proxifying software but not under proxifying environment. Basically the software needs to connect to the internet using Port 443. I am also expected to keep ports 443, 41599 and 59598 open. software's requirement is available at Indiabulls Securities: Indiabulls Securities is a leading capital market company offering securities broking and advisory services, depository services, equity research services to its clients in India. (item no. 5).To confirm, while the software is unable to connect through port 443, you will get an error message: "Connection to Login Server could not be established" when you try to login with any random Username and Password.To know that the software is able to connect properly, you will get an error: "This User ID is not enabled to be used with this product".

Sep 18, 2011I've got three Cisco 1721's and a 2610, two of the 1721's are 32f's, the other one is a bit older but is still the same model. The two Cisco 1721 32f's have 1-dsu-t1-v2 wics in them, and the older 1721 has a 1-dsu-t1 wic in it. Now no matter how i have configured it the old t1 wic will not talk to the v2 wic. I've tried putting the old wic into a 1721 32f and it doesn't work at all!
What i have working:
router DCE (1721 32f with v2 wic) can talk to router DTE (1721 32f with v2 wic) no problem with this configuration.
Router DCE:
-service-module t1 clock source internal
-service-module t1 data-coding normal

Router DTE:
-service-module t1 clock source line
-service-module t1 data-coding normal
[ code]....
Router OLD (1721 with v2 wic) can talk to router DTE (1721 32f with v2 wic) no problem with same config. What doesn't work: Any router with 1-dsu-t1 (old) wic to router DTE (1721 32f with v2 wic). again same configuration as before, so whats going on that i cant get this to work? Is the old t1 wic not compatible with the new t1 wic?

Oct 9, 2012I am having a problem configuring a VPN connection from a 1721 router to an ASA5520. The router has already been configured, but I have been asked to setup the VPN.I think the issue is because they are using a Loop back interface (which I have never configured for before).
The "sh crypto isakmp sa" command shows:
dst src state conn-id status
5.6.7.8 1.2.3.4 QM_IDLE 4 ACTIVE
where 5.6.7.8 is the ip on Loopback0, 1.2.3.4 is remote peer ip. Pings to the remote network don't work.
Here is the (slightly edited) config of the 1721 :

I wonder which is the maximum capacity of the router, since it should support up to 40000 connections to different destination IP. Is the limit set by the router resources (CPU, memory, ...) or a maximum limit of entries in the table FIB / RIB?

Apr 20, 2011Monday, I had a cisco 1750 router in place suddenly stop communicating to a Larscom ISP owned unit. Since then I have sent two replacement 1721 routers with WIC-1ENET cards. I have used the original straight thru cable to connect the 10baset port on the Larscom to my E0 on the WIC-1ENET. No link lights on either. I have also tried a known working straight thru cable and a crossover cable. No link lights.
I can take a crossover cable from a pc and ping the E0 port without issue. The ISP is telling me it is an issue with my equipment.

May 12, 2013router 1721 with one wic-1adsl ,i have adsl conection with irb static ip. the router connect with mannaged switch through a trunk port. the switch has 2 vlans one for the static IPs and the other for private lan. i need the private lan to be able to go to internet. vlan2 can go to internet because it has the same subnet with provider but vlan 1 canot go internet, so how i can make all vlans go internet(the router has only 1 fastethernet port)

Jan 1, 2013I'm supposed to configure this 1721 for bridged mode, taking a Level 3 T1 into the serial 0 side and passing it out the f/e 0 side. So, basically that's a T1 to ethernet conversion. I guess this customer is buying a T1 from us but they have to use a different make/model router due to the large hospital requiring that of doctors offices.Encapsulation from Level 3 is ppp static ip address, no password or anything like that.

Cisco WAN :: Linux Not Passing Traffic Through 1721 / 1841?
Jan 6, 2011I run a network that uses MPLS circuits to connect all of the companies different stores. Internet access is through a Cisco ASA5500 here at the corp headquarters.
To make all of this work, we use a little 1721 gateway router to move traffic as needed. All the clients in our corporate office use 10.10.99.1 (Cisco 1721) as a gateway. The 1721 routes the traffic either to the internet (10.10.99.106 Cisco ASA5500) or the MPLS router (159.61.54.30).
For some reason, anything that runs on Linux (Ubuntu server, ReadyNAS boxes, Thecus NAS) will not pass traffic beyond the 1721 gateway router.
I've poured over the config for that router, and I can't find anything that could be causing this not to work. Thinking that the 1721 was bad, I put an 1841 online in it's place, and it did the same thing. I'm a noob when it comes to Cisco configs, but am learning as I go along.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 1721 WIC-4ESW Cannot Get BVI To Work
Mar 11, 2012I started to set up a 1721 router with WIC-4ESW. This is on an internal network, so only looking to just do routing from FA/0's interface to the networks attached to ports on the WIC. I first assigned just VLANs to 2 of the ports and this did not work. So I did some reading up and decided to use bridge groups. Except I still can not access the interfaces on the WIC. And by that I mean on the router itself I can not ping the ip assigned to the BVI.
I have another 1721 w/4 port that long ago I seem to remember simply assigning VLANs to the interfaces and I was able to communicate between the networks without issue (or maybe I just don't rememer that well). Thing is I should be able to at least ping the internal interfaces shouldn't I (assuming the status is up). I don't know why BVI2 and 3 are listed as down, nor do I seem to know how to bring these up.
This is what ip int br gives me:
