Cisco WAN :: Setting Up Dual WANs In RV016?

May 4, 2010

I have a multi-wan connections to RV016.  WAN1 is T1 and WAN2 is DSL.  There are some websites that I am having a problem logging in and staying logged in.  It seems like the connection from my computer is going out through two different WANs.

How should I set my RV016 properly so that I won't have the above issues anymore?

Cisco Routers :: Possible To Configure RV016 With 5 WANS?

Sep 5, 2011

I have 11 available IPs at a data center and have 5 servers I want configure - each with its own LAN, not to be networked together (used for web, ftp, sql and other webs services).  Is it possible to configure the RV016 with 5 WANS, each attached to a specific port with its own LAN?

Am this even the right considerations for this router as I would just have normally purchased 5 routers and attached them individually to each server with their own specific WAN and LAN?

Cisco Routers :: Linksys RV016 And Two WANs (cable / DSL)

Apr 12, 2011

Is there any good description how to configure Linksys RV016  for two WANs (cable+DSL)? It looks like switching between those two  connections not splitting what is set for WAN1 and what is set for WAN2. I set load balancing as- WAN1 (cable) all HTTP up/donw should go there- WAN2 (DSL) GTalk, IMs, SMTP, POP3, IMAP up/down should go therebut looks like is not working that way. When  I will go to speedtest.net and test a connection I always get less  amount then connected directly through cable : Also when people try to  use any session or IP sensitive web site it doesn't let them to log in  because session was expired (based on IP) or IP was changed.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Set Up In Dual Mode And Both WANs Are Working Properly

Dec 23, 2011

I have my RV042 set up in Dual WAN mode and both WANs are working properly.  I would like to configure WAN1 to handle all traffic, unless it fails and then have everything to go to WAN2.  Pretty much what Smart Link Backup does, however with that enabled only 1 of the WANs is live at any given time.  I'd like both WANs to always be live as I'm going to see the second one as a back-door into the network.  Is this possible to do with routing?  I tried setting a routing rule to have everything to go WAN1, but when WAN1 goes down, nothing is rounted via WAN2.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: RV016 Dual Wan Configuration

Oct 15, 2012

I have recently  implimented an RV016 device into our network. We have a bonded T1  service with Paetec/Windstream (5 static IPs) and also a cable  connection with Comcast (no static IP). The T1 has been our primary  connection, and our MX and A records all use this IP address. I have the  rules set and using a one-to-one NAT setup with our 5 IPs. Everything  is working great with the T1 in place and email is flowing with no  problems, however when I connect the cable into the WAN2 port and try to  send email, its using that outbound connection, rather then the T1 and  our spam filter is blocking it. So the email is rejected and we get this  message below.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

xxxx@gmail.com (xxxx@gmail.com)Your  message wasn't delivered due to a permission or security issue. It may  have been rejected by a moderator, the address may only accept e-mail  from certain senders, or another restriction may be preventing delivery.

The following organization rejected your message: (our smtp spam relay)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The reason for being rejected is just because it doesn't recongnize the IP address/gateway it is coming from.

My  question is, how do I define that all email is sent out through our T1  connections IP address in the router?I see options for Advanced Routing  or Bandwidth Management, but not sure what one I need to configure as I  am not too familiar with these settings. I have Intelligent  Balancer(Auto Mode) enabled as well by default.

The reason  for adding the second internet connection is strictly for load  balencing and getting some more bandwidth in our location.

Cisco Routers :: RV016 - Port VPN Setting Up A Failover

Sep 13, 2012

I was wondering how does failover works on Cisco Small Business RV016. Specifically, I am interested when one WAN line stop working, and all the computers in the LAN start using another line. Does it means that IP addresses of the computers in the LAN will change, or they stay the same? If they change can I set it up that they always stay the same no matter which input WAN they are using?

Cisco WAN :: ASA5505 / Setting Access Policies Dual Internet Connections

Jun 7, 2011

I'm trying to set up a S2S VPN between two ASA5505 SP units running ASA Version 8.2(1). I've ordered additional ADSL2 lines to handle this traffic and I'm having troubles with the configuration for the additional PPPoE connection. Here is are extracts from my current config; First the interface vlans

!
interface Vlan1
nameif inside
security-level 100
ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0

[code]....

The result being that I can ping the OUTSIDE interface, but get no reply from the VPN interface. I've checked ADSL lines, they are up. The two PPPoE sessions are logged in and active. I can even see the ICMP packets hit the VPN interface, but there is no reply.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: WR2543ND / WDR4300 Not Setting Network Shares?

Feb 20, 2013

Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP :

I have a client that has a WR2543ND (House) and WDR4300 (Office/Internet) router that are located in two separate buildings about 40ft apart. He has each one hooked up to external antennas connected on the outside of the buildings. Back in December I got WDS working between the two routers and the PC in the house was able to use the Internet in the Office as well as share resources between the office and house computers. Two days ago I was down there working on his network and I was having problems setting up network shares. I discovered I wasn't able to ping from the Office PC to the House PC or vice versa and what's even stranger, I couldn't ping the House PC from the House Router (WR2543ND). I checked WDS status and on the House Router is says "Run" but on the Office Router it says "Int" but the WDS is definitely up because I am able to ping from the Office Router to the House Router, plus I am able to use TeamViewer to connect to the House computer from the Office computer. There are no firewalls enabled on Windows. Lastly the DHCP server is only running on the Office Router.

The cable modem has 2 ip's. that goes to a switch , one leg feeds the ISA which in turn feeds the LAN switch. the other leg feeds the webserver. Is it possible to connect the Webserver to the LAN, but keep the WAN IP and not allow users to use that connection to the internet. ( keep all internet traffic going through the ISA ) but allow the webserver to transfer backups and such to the File Server on the LAN. FYI: the Webserver has 4 NIC's

What I was thinking is to run vpc between the 2 Nexus in the aggregation layer and between the 2 Nexus in the core layer. Than I was thinking of connecting each Nexus in the aggragtion layer to both Nexus in the core layer using port-channel and vice-versa.

Cisco :: Dual SSID (with Dual VLAN) On AiroNet 1130?

Dec 17, 2012

how to change our wireless setup. Currently, we have 2 Cisco AiroNet 1130 WAP's in the office that go directly into the 2 POE ports on our Cisco ASA 5500. These WAP's have 1 SSID and are using WEP for security. After demonstrating the flaws of WEP to my boss, he has agreed that we should use something more secure and I've suggested WPA. We want visitors to our office to be able to hop on our wireless but on a separate guest SSID with WEP.

I'd like the internal SSID to route to the ASA and take the default route to the internet (it will be our new fiber connection once it's installed in a couple weeks). The default route is whichever connection is working since our ASA 5500 will fail over when it detects an outage.

I'd like the guest SSID to route to the ASA and then go over our existing cable connection. This connection will be our backup once the fiber connection is installed. Since we won't be using it very often, but will be paying for it, I advised that we send all guest wireless traffic over this connection since 50/5 is plenty for guests.

The current SSID (which will be the internal SSID) has no VLAN. We do currently have a few VLANS on our network, one for voice (.42) and one for data (.100) and the default (.0). What device to I create the VLAN on (Cisco 5500?) and how to I setup the WAP? I need very basic instructions to start and I'm also trying to do this without causing downtime if possible.

I've attached a diagram of what it should look like. Red indicates our internal network and Blue indicates the guest network. I can send screenshots as well.

Cisco WAN :: Dual MPLS Routers Connected To Dual N5K Core

Mar 29, 2012

I wanted to ask a question about the diagram I have included.  We are bringing up 2 MPLS WAN connections and would like some specifics on the best design.  We are using BGP to the providers.  From there we have big questions.  We can run BGP internal and are licensed to do so on the N5K's.  The N5Ks are currently using HSRP for inside LAN clients as default gateway.  We want to load balance and provide redundant routes using a dynamic approach.  Should we use BGP internal utilizing the connections between the routers?  Should we use HSRP on the routers?  How best to get the routes to the N5K and should we be considering this?

Cisco Routers :: VPN Configuration For Dual WAN On Dual RV042

I was even able to create VPN connection with 2 WAN connection on one Router and 1 WAN connection on another with Smart link failover and VPN Tunel Backup.

I got problem though when i tried more complex connection diagram. [URL]

So basically I now have 2 ISP connections on each point with Static IPs and I'd like VPN Connection to be alive for ALL 4 options automatically with failovers (smart links) And tunel backups but i'm not sure if that's ever possible with my equipment.

Cisco :: RV016 DNS Lookup Failure

Apr 19, 2012

I manage a small business with 10 computers running off my network. They are all connected to the internet through a RV016. We recently created a new website and purchased a new domain through In Motion Hosting. I have a randomly reoccuring issue, usually in the morning, that seems to resolve itself after a couple hours on it's own. I have dealt with tech support from In Motion Hosting and my ISP who have both come to the determination that the problem lies within my gateway.

When I attempt to log on to my companies website [URL] my browser is unable to locate the webpage. Also, if I try to access the website for In Motion Hosting [URL] or to access our webmail [URL]I am unable to do so because the DNS lookup failed. I can view any other web page on the internet without a problem. I can not ping or tracert either website successfully, however when I called In Motion Hosting and got the IP addresses for the two I was able to ping and tracert them without a problem.

As I said the problem happens randomly and seems to resolve itself within 2-8 hours. However we are unable to access our email during these "blackouts" which is becoming a huge problem.

Is there a setting within the RV016 that might be causing this to happen?

Cisco Routers :: Failing RV016 Or ISP?

Jan 22, 2010

I have a rv016 that's been in 24x7 operation since I bought it a few years back.  It is out of warranty.  It is connected to three cable modems on WANs 1-3.  Behind it are a bunch of PCs getting IPs via DHCP.  There is a gateway to gateway vpn tunnel setup on wan3 to a rv082 at another site.  There is a forwarding entry for http to an internal http server.  Everything else is pretty much default.

The router is primarily used to aggregate bandwidth for uploading large numbers of photos.  The systems behind the router initiate the uploads and the router automatically load balances the outgoing bandwidth.

This was all working fine until just recently.  The ISP is Knology who is upgrading each of the 8m/768k cable modems to 25m/5m.  They are also moving from DOCSIS 1 to DOCSIS 3.  They are currently in the middle of this upgrade and have upgraded the modems to DOCSIS 3 as well as the speeds to 12m/2m.  The problem is that the rv016 Network Service Detection, which is set to "Default Gateway" indicates that the modems fail randomly.  Usually only one will be failed, but up to two will fail the Network Service Detection simultaneously.

Knology insists that there is nothing wrong with their modems.  I have removed a modem from the rv016 when Network Service Detection indicates it is in a failed state and connected it directly to a computer.  It will work, but it has a different IP address and default gateway.  As soon as I connect it back to the rv016, it works there too, but on the original IP address and gateway.  I've only tried this test this twice so far, so it is a bit inconclusive.

Speed tests behind the rv016 are the same as directly connected to one of the cable modems.  The router works normally as it has for years.  Nothing else is acting funny.

So my question is, is the rv016 failing or is the ISP having problems?

Cisco Routers :: RV016 Is Not Load Balancing UDP?

Feb 22, 2012

this router (RV016v3, Firmware: v4.1.1.01-sp (Dec 6 2011 20:03:18)) in regards to it not properly directing UDP packets out of the right WAN, as per the settings stored in Protocol Binding section of [System Management, Multi-WAN].I use the section to direct all traffic from desktop computers (192.168.5.100 ~ 192.168.5.199) through WAN4, and all VoIP related traffic (192.168.5.200 ~ 192.168.5.239) through WAN2(PPPoE).Everything seems to be working well except for some of the UDP traffic from 192.168.5.200 which is seen in the log going out of WAN4 instead of WAN2.I have even created a new entry for [UDP/5060~5060]->192.168.5.200~192.168.5.200(0.0.0.0~255.255.255.255)WAN2, and placed it at the very top of the list.Here are a few lines that I've observed in the log: (Refreshed the registration of two SIP Trunks configured in our PBX)

Feb 23 18:11:47 2012     Connection Accepted     UDP 192.168.5.200:5060->184.72.227.214:5060 on eth4
Feb 23 18:11:46 2012     Connection Accepted     UDP 192.168.5.200:5060->50.56.59.168:5060 on ppp2
Feb 23 18:11:46 2012     Connection Accepted     UDP 192.168.5.200:5060->184.72.227.214:5060 on eth4
Feb 23 18:11:46 2012     Connection Accepted     UDP 192.168.5.200:5060->50.56.59.168:5060 on ppp2

There are no static routes configured, so i'm baffled by what could cause some of the UDP packets to go through the wrong WAN.All TCP Traffic from 192.168.5.200 is seen going though WAN2 as it should.

All three WAN ports are set to automatically obtain ip from the modems.We have tried several modems, and even swap WAN ports, but the error is persistant to WAN1 only.

WAN2 and WAN3 are up and running without any errors.  This error is persistant with WAN1 only.We have also configured a manual ip on WAN1, and after a few hours of operation on all 3 ports, traffic on WAN1 comes to a halt.We have the same error on 3 units we received last week.All there modem are configure on different subnets.It does not seems to be a configuration error with the modem as they work perfectly well with the WAN2, WAN3  ports.We also tested a RV016 out of the box using the wizard setup, without any extra setting/configuration, and we got the same error after a few hours of operation.
