Dec 27, 2012I have 2960 switch and i can't access it using my console cable .I can access other switches in my network ( 3560 & 2960 ) but i can't access only this switch.may be the console port in the switch damaged? or it's a bug ?? !!! although the switch is worked normally.

Jan 16, 2012I had a strange issue yesterday when onsite installing a new access switch.Port capacity full on a two switch stack of 3750 x48 PS switches (WS-C3750- 48PS-E)- New 2960 x48 PS - WS-C2960S-48FPS-L racked, with the plan of using it just as an edge switch via SFP Stacking cable.Setup the two connecting ports with simple initial config: - switchport mode trunk- no encapsulation option on the 2960, default dot1q- dot1q set on 3750 port- no shut on both sides.Connected the SFP Stacking cable but it didnt work:- %PHY-4-SFP_NOT_SUPPORTED: The SFP in Gi1/0/1 is not supported
This is ok as I had a backup:- Next step tried using 2 x Short Haul SFP SX GBIC's with LC - LC OFNP 50/125 fibre patch lead - no joy- Extra backup of 2 x Long Haul SFP LX GBIC's with the same fibre patch - no joy- Checked the fibre and it was not a cross over so transmit and receive going down the same side, switchedand still would not come up.- Used Fibre as a straight through and still the same.In all cases there was no indication of any life in the connection.It is pointing to a faulty fibre patch lead but I know it has worked in the past. Could it be something to do with the config or device incompatibility? Or any setting I need to activate?
Cisco WAN :: 2960 Can't Ping All Devices On Remote Subnet
Sep 27, 2012I have 4 x 2960 switches in a remote site. These are managed by an NMS in our DC, the NMS IP ends in 35.100 with a /23 mask.
When they are first booted, the switches are visable to the NMS, but after a week or 2, 3 of them drop connection to it. If you reboot them again they are fine. You are able to log onto them form thier local router and use a Radius server which is in the same subnet as the NMS.
The odd thing is, whilst they can not ping the NMS, they are able to ping any other addresses in the 34.0/23 range.
The config on the one that does not lose connection is the same as the other 3 and I have also rebooted the NMS.

Oct 22, 2011I have a couple of Cisco 2960's sending syslog messages to a remote syslog-ng on port 514 (standard).
I need to set another Swtich so it sends traffic to the same syslog server but on another UDP port (such as 714),, is that possible,? I cannot find the option on the documentation.

Aug 25, 2011i have 2960 Catalyst with LANLITE. And i cannot set "transport input ssh", it allows only telnet. I'm wondering if cisco lanlite switches have ssh input in newer releases of IOS or there is no way to make ssh input on this switch?Here's show ver output (i removed all serial and part numbers):

Dec 15, 2011I have a cisco catalyst 2060 poe switch, exitsting flas is flash:/c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE5/c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE5.bin
I downloaded latest flash (c2960-lanbasek9-mz.150-1.SE.bin) and updated the new flas through telnet while reunning tftp server. and tftp server is given the message sent 2960-lanbsek9-mz,SE.bin to (10.10.10.1), 11847957 bytes
after reload the system i login telnet and saw the verson still it is showing old verson, then how can i comform flash is up-dated or not...

The 3750 use AAA, Crypto pki trustpoint TP-self-signed and radius-server host etc.
Now I can only telnet to 2960 but not SSH to it.

May 9, 2012I have two SSIDs on an Autonomous Access Point, that goes to a 2960 switch, that connects to a L3 3560. I have a vlan for admin/private internal access that uses the native vlan (1) and guest vlan (50). I have configured both and I am trying to get both to go out the same Internet connection.
I cannot get the guest access to access the Internet. It looks like my computer will go, but it just comes up saying no Internet access.All interfaces are trunking this vlan properly. I can communicate from the laptop to the 3560 but I just can't get to the Internet.

May 23, 2011I have 1 internet router 2960 and 2 No's ASA firewalls,The issue is Suppose if ASA-1 fails the failover will happen on ASA-2 but The issue is i dont have a layer 2 Switch in between the ASA's and Internet router, i have to manually shift the cable from ASA-1 to ASA-2,what sort of configuration i can do on 2960 router interfaces to support failover from ASA-1 to ASA-2, I have enough interface on 2960 router to occupy ASA-2. These all 3 devices should be in 1 Subnet.

I have tried to reset the switch to factory defaults and it still doesn't work. The switch is currently connected to a 3560G and has been assigned an IP. If I try to access it from Network assistant it shows as unmanaged and I get prompted for a username and password.The switch is connected to another new 2960-S via a FlowStack module.

Oct 6, 2011About 4 months ago or so I had what I though was a firewall problem, tuned out to be two bad switches or so I thought. I replaced the switches with 3 com switches and everything seemed fine. Until Monday, my network was down again I though because I had a patch cable plugged into the same switch because when I took that patch cable out of the picture and reboot the switches everything seemed good. Then Tuesday I installed a new Cisco 2960 to relieve some of the stress on a switch. Then I plugged in another 2960 and started checking out the network assistant and monitoring tools but every time I clicked refresh or just clicked on the newer of the two 2960s the network connection would bounce? Now today the switch that had been in production the 3com just started to bounce its connection on and off ? I had to plug everything into the new 2960 and unplug the 2nd 2960 to keep the network stable, well its only been about a half an hour.
Are the switch trying to sync speeds with each other?

Dec 14, 2011I have a PIX 535 connected through OFC to Cisco 2960 Switch.
PIX end - G0 (SC type Connector) - Switch End - Gi1/0/28 (LC type connector)
When I am pinging from either side, I am getting packet drops. CRC error is increasing at PIX interface.
Speed settings, tried with
auto - auto
auto - nonegotiate
nonegotiate - auto
nonegotiate - nonegotiate
But no improvements. When its connected with SC - SC connector, its working fine.
Switch also working fine when connected LC - LC.Switch OS is 15.x version.
