Cisco WAN :: Connect 2960-S To 3560 Catalyst Switch?
Feb 22, 2012Im trying to Connect a 2960-S Catalyst Switch to a 3560 Catalyst Switch. It worth pointing out im newish to switching although i know some commands and what they do This is my first time connecting 2 switches together.They are connected via a crossover cable and have green lights flashing on the connected ports When i run "show CDP neighbours it sees the new switch Unable to ping new switch...just timesout Here is the the interface on the 3650

Jun 7, 2011We have quite a few 3560 & 2960 on our edge network - what I have been looking at was to access switches via web-interface i.e. web-browser. Only problem with this is it always gives you access on privilige level 15 which is not ideal as not all who we decide to give access to these switches will be admin and allowed to configure these swicthes - In the 3560/2960 data-sheet states:
"Alternatively, a local username and password database can be configured on the switch itself. Fifteen levels of authorization on the switch console and two levels on the Web-based management interface provide the ability to give different levels of configuration capabilities to different administrators"
Where as there is no mention of how to configure these two levels of Web-based management in the configuration guide.

Oct 4, 2011We have 3560 switch with following IOS. version 12.2(55)SE3 and image name is C3560-IPSERVICESK9-M. On one of the interface we need to know what are traffic is flowing.
Do we have "ip nbar or ip route-cache" support on this switch IOS? Is there any other way to find out which protocol traffic is flowing through that interface.

Oct 24, 2012I recently got my hands on the latest Secure Mobility VPN v3.1.01 client. We are upgrading from the old anyconnect 2.4 client so there are many changes that are catching us by surprise. The biggest issue I have right now is that the new Mobility VPN launches automatically when a user signs into a machine. We would like to disable that automatic connection/launch feature. With the old 2.4 client we simply disabled the AnyConnect Service in Services.msc by default and started it up when a user was ready to connect.

We plan to have all 3560s to have a link to each of the core. Without VSS, it is not possible to etherchannel to both core switches correct?What protocol should I configure to prevent in case one core fails? HSRP, VRRP, GLBP?
Do I need to run spanning tree protocol? if so which one?What is the best way to connect from each Catalyst 3560 for load balancing and redundancy? One to each core?

Jan 9, 2012At a college I'm trying to setup a Cisco 2960 to be used on a VLAN 248 tagged on the uplink port that uses Spanning Tree/. Here is the following from the Cisco:

On the Alcatel OS6850-48L the following is setup: bridge 1x1 248 priority 3287 Vlan 248 802.1q 5/8 "cisco"
I cannot make a change on the Alcatel, I can only administer the Cisco. I was able to get things working fine (as a test) using a Net gear or HP switch instead of the Cisco. However we have a Cisco switches and would not like to have to buy HPs. Is there a compatible spanning tree protocol to use on the Cisco with the way things are configured on the Alcatel. I need to stick to standard RSTP (802.1w) ieee standards and not something Cisco proprietary.

Mar 29, 2013I am trying to log into my WRT610N version 2.0 Router admin page 192.168.1.1 using the secure HTTPS://192.168.1.1 protocol I have the router local management setting to allow both http and https access login:192.168.1.1/Management.asp I am using Microsoft IE version 10 and Firefox version 19.02 and latest Chrome browsers and none of them will work using the HTTPS protocol.This used to work in the past using older versions of the browsers though I would see a certicificate error warning.I have 2.00.01 build 15 firmware installed and I already tried reseting the router. Perhaps the router needs new firmware update to handle this with the latest browsers?

When I use match protocol in class-map, there are only about 10 protocols, and not have those ones I need. I intend to expand the list of protocols to do some Policy-map by loading PDLM. But 4507 is no longer support NBAR. So do we have another way to set Catalyst 4507R with Sup 7L-E recongnize more protocols in match protocol command?

Feb 10, 2013I have a very problematic situation here.I have configure on a Cisco 2960 the vty line in a wrong manner and now I am stock.To configure those vty to enable ssh I have typed :

password xxxx

Problem, I work remotely (I was on telnet while doing this). I have no username configure as I thought that root user would work.Now when I issue an ssh to my switch, I always failed authentication.how I could recover access to my switch without being physically there ? I have write the config in memory, otherwise it would have been too easy.

The environment is ISP goes into an ASA that up links to a 3560 and fiber up links to other 2960s throughout the building for internet. My question is for certain sections of the building if I segment the network can I guarantee them a certain amount of bandwidth. For example, if 1 gigabit is coming into the building from the ISP and into the ASA, can I guarantee one room in the building no less than say 200 Mb of the full internet pipe at all times?

May 1, 2012I want to upgrade a Catalyst 3560-48PS to the last IOS.I get an errormessage stating that there is insufficient space in flash: I have deleted all files in flash - but I still get the same error message. According to the documentation there should be enough memory. Messages are pasted below:

Cisco WAN :: VLAN On 2960 And 3560 Switches
Apr 10, 2011We had a new building thats gone up and complete now and we're trying to get a ip phone working down that end of the school on a vlan. We seem to be having trouble with the VLAN going through on the 2960 switch but it works fine on our core 3560 switch.
There looks like a slight variation in the config of the switches, the 3560 switch supports the "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q" command on the interface where as the 2960 doesn't support the "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q". Is this why the vlan is working on the 3560 and not the 2960, or is it something else?
Both switches are using the 12.2 IOS
Heres the trunk port configured on the 3560 going down to the new building and connecting into the 2960 with a 1gbit fiber link
interface GigabitEthernet1/2 description 3560X Port UpLink as Trunk Mode switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport mode trunk udld port storm-control broadcast level 60.00 spanning-tree guard root
Heres the trunk port configured on the 3560 going to a Linksys switch which then connects to the DHCP server (The other end of the 3560 is also configued as trunk)

Heres the working vlan port on the 3560, the ip phone is able to get an ip and ring all other phones etc

Heres the trunk port configured on the 2960 going back upto the 3560 switch

Heres the access port configured on the 2960 which isn't passing on vlan information. Is there another command i need to use to enable encapsulation as dot1q?

I have been getting notifications of large packet loss and latency for itnernal traffic going to servers. I have a simple setup of nagios who pings servers and will notify me of large packet loss or complete packet loss. I have implemented this L3 switch a few hours ago, I am currently running a constant ping to my servers, but I am not niticing packet loss right now.This packet loss happened 4 time spans within the last hour of many large packet losses to all my servers within all subnets. It is now stopped.
I am not sure why this would be happening, the predessor of the internal router was just a normal linux box with 3 NICs on it. Nothing crazy going on since the business is closed.

I want to remove all passwords so when the switch is redeployed to the next site who ever the engineer is that is going to be reconfiguring the switch is able to access privlage mode with out the password promt.
