Here is what I am attempting to do.
1. I have a 1042N AP configured as a Workgroup-Bridge attaching to a Lightweight Access Point.
2. LWAPP AP is on a 5508 series Controller.
3. I have MAC Authentication configured through an Ciso ACS box running 5.2 code. And that portion is working.
4. I want to lock this WGB down even further with a second layer of security. I am thinking WPA2 -AES.
We recently purchased a bundle of 3 1042N AP's with a 2106 WLC. I am able to get the controller on the network and am able to manage it through the https web gui. I am now trying to add one of the AP's to the controller and am getting an infinite loop on the AP upon bootup. I tried looking up the solution but could not find a good article that pertained to the problem I was having. One thing I did notice is the time on the AP is way offset, but when I do a clock set to change it to the actual date it doesnt stick on the next reload.

we are trying to configure WLC 2112 with LAP 1042 but getting following erros on LAP1042. It show the Ap is not supported in controller version 6.0.199.4

I am installing a new Cisco AP1042N access point in our network but the maximum speed it broadcasts is 54Mbit(802.11G) and that should be 300Mbit(802.11N). Im also disappointed about the range. Im using it in a small office building with a few thin walls but when im about 20 meters away from this access point my signal strength is very poor (My €100 HP V-M200 AP does much better in the same environment).

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is rattling my brain. I have configured 2 SSIDs, one for internal, one for guests. They are on seperate VLANs (50 and 51) and bridge groups (1 and 2). I can get IPs via DHCP for the internal network, but not for the guest. I can't get DHCP for any VLAN 51 sub-interface, nor clients that connect to it. The overall goal is to keep all traffic on the guest network seperate from the internal traffic, however, DHCP requests will be from an internal server. I have removed all the access-lists for troubleshooting purposes. AP and Switchport configs are below!

I have about 200 APs (Cisco 1042n and 1142n), 4 controllers (5508 and 2504).. Switches are 2960s and some other stuff.. I Use NCS for management.We have a couple of vlans and SSIDs, when users connect to a SSID i use Flexconnect to associate the users to the correct VLAN.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am testing rogue on wire using 5508 WLC and , I have a dedicated AP configured as rogue detector and configured the switch port where the Rogue detector is connected as trunk. I have plugged in an autonomous AP with open authentication to the same switch so that it can act as a rogue. On the WLC, I can see that Autonomous AP as rogue on Wire. But along with that I am seeing another AP as rogue on wire, even though i have plugged in only one Autonomous AP to the switch.

I need to configure WPA or WPA2 authentication on cisco 1042N access points. But I believe that for this requirement I need to have either an internal or external RADIUS server, but my customer want to just a normal WPA/WPA2 authentication like what we configure on cisco WAP200 or WAP4410 accesspoints, is there any work arounds to configure WPA/WPA2 authentication in a simpler manner rather than configuring RADIUS server option?

The option is to do it manually with CLI, but there is about 200+ AP's that need converting. We can't do them all at the same time. We have to do it building per building.

I rolled back to the autonomous OS and all ok and AP operates as normal. When on the lightweight IOS I can get a telnet response but cannot access as it states Password require but not set.
Followed this process to upgrade [URL] and followed this process to restore to Autonomous: [URL] why it's not working.
Update: Just tried another AP same result. Downloaded Lightweight again and same result

Is AP 1220B (b-only radio) supported for registration to WLC (7.0.x) with Lightweight software? I've managed to convert the AP to Lightweight mode, but I could not get it to register with WLC 2504 (software version 7.0). Is it possible that this AP is only supported if changing the in-built radio module?
In the compatibility matrix [URL] there is an information that this AP is supported on WLC up to version 7.0.x. On the other hand it is not supported by Autonomous to Lightweight Mode Upgrade Tool [URL] Since these APs does not have pre-installed MIC, it is mandatory for them to create Self-Signed Certificate (SSC). Upgrade tool could do this job (along with adding the created SSC hash to the authorized list on WLC), but it does not support this particular AP/radio. If I do the conversion manually (archive download-sw ...), the AP does not have the SSC needed for communication with WLC. I've tried making the SSC manually (instructions found on this site [URL] while AP is autonomous mode, and then converting it to Lightweight, but the AP still could not register to WLC.
In the debugs (on WLC/AP), I am receiving an error that is described in some Cisco troubleshooting documents as something related to WLC not having an SSC hash in the auth list. Problem is that the AP is not even sending standard CAPWAP messages and there is nothing to be seen in "debug pm pki enable" on WLC...
I have several Lightweight APs (AIR-LAP1242G-A-K9) runing of a single WLC. We keep getting devices, sometimes all devices, losing network signal. The WLC is running a global power setup so all APs have their power set automatically. The setting for power parameters are default. I have noticed when I run a client test the APs run at 11Mbps while the client devices run at 50-54Mbps. The protocol used by both devices is 802.1G. These network drop offs are frequent and I should say may well be an issue with the client devices although there are several different types of devices experiencing this issue. My question is should the TX and RX rates be the same? Is it ok to have this disparity in the TX/Rx values?

Currently the environment is all AP1200s with no hardware upgrades in the near future. There is also a 2811 router in place but nothing else. We would love to be able to force users to authenticate with a password in order to get out to the Internet as well.

how the new 1260's will work in the mixed environment. I believe I will need to purchase the 1262 (which is the dual band version) so that I can operate the AP in both the 2.4Ghz G band range and the 5Ghz N range at the same time, is this correct?If I was to purchase the 1261 (which is the single band version), will I only be able to operate in either th 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz, but not at the same time?
For the mixed environment, would you suggest the dual band version? Can I place the same SSID on multiple Radios if this is the case? Following example: Say I have the SSID called 'Company' - this at the minute is operating on the G band 2.4Ghz range. If I was to purcahse the dual band 1262, could I put this SSID on both the G radio and the N radio? Would clients with an N adapter automatically connect to the 5Ghz range (N Radio) and legacy G and B adapters automatically connect to the 2.4Ghz (G Radio)?

1) The Netwrok Setup Assistant (NSA) download process corrupts during the self-provisioning process (captured on 4.1.1 and 4.2.2 version)
2) If NSA is already installed, the network setup process (downloading profile, certificate) stops at last step: connecting to network, meanwhile the connection itself successfully establishes. This bug is captured on 4.2.2 version, 4.1.1 is ok.
Google ACL is configured according to TrustSec docs and permits all traffic to google networks 173.194.0.0/16 and 74.125.0.0/16.
is there any issue in buying air-ap1142n-ek9 802.11A/G/N FIXED AUTO AP INT ANT and later on converting it into lightweight under the control of air-ct2504-15k9 2504 WIRELESS CONTROLLER WITH 15 AP LICENSES ?Are there any requirements on the SW of the WLC and the IOS of the AP? The reason of the choice is budget.

We can get those replaced, but I am looking into migrating them in order to get them to register with our 5508 controllers.
There do not seem to be a migration tool to download for 1262. Must it be done via the WCS ?So far I have not managed to add these autonomous AP to the controllers. How to know if a migration toll exists for those !
I have a Cisco WLC 5508 managing several 1252s in lightweight mode. There is a portable across campus that has a standalone network but no cabling to tie in to the corporate network. I have another 1252 that is in autonomous mode. Could I essentially configure that as a bridge with the same security and SSID in order to bridge the corporate WLAN? If not, what are my options?
