View 3 RepliesIs it possible to convert an Autonomous AP 2602i to Lightweight just changing firmware as the first generation Aironet APs?
View 2 Replies View RelatedApparently converting autonomous 1142N to lightweight is not supported by ether WCS 7.0 or the Upgrade tool. The option is to do it manually with CLI, but there is about 200+ AP's that need converting. We can't do them all at the same time. We have to do it building per building.

WLC 5508 (same code)

I have been searching on web but have had no luck so far with anything. Tried converting it to lightweight in the same way as putting it on Autonomous IOS but errored out.
I have a problem converting 2602 from lightweight to autonomous. It will not boot to the autonomous IOS. The procedure below is waht I did.
ap: set IP_ADDR 10.0.0.1
ap: set NETMASK 255.255.255.0
ap: tftp_init

I rolled back to the autonomous OS and all ok and AP operates as normal. When on the lightweight IOS I can get a telnet response but cannot access as it states Password require but not set.
Followed this process to upgrade [URL] and followed this process to restore to Autonomous: [URL] why it's not working.
Update: Just tried another AP same result. Downloaded Lightweight again and same result
Here is the CLI upgrade process

is there any issue in buying air-ap1142n-ek9 802.11A/G/N FIXED AUTO AP INT ANT and later on converting it into lightweight under the control of air-ct2504-15k9 2504 WIRELESS CONTROLLER WITH 15 AP LICENSES ?Are there any requirements on the SW of the WLC and the IOS of the AP? The reason of the choice is budget.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is one of our first site where we are implementing Cisco wireless, and we bought some external Autonomous AP1262, when we should have bought Lightweight LAP1262 . We can get those replaced, but I am looking into migrating them in order to get them to register with our 5508 controllers.
There do not seem to be a migration tool to download for 1262. Must it be done via the WCS ?So far I have not managed to add these autonomous AP to the controllers. How to know if a migration toll exists for those !
I have a Cisco WLC 5508 managing several 1252s in lightweight mode. There is a portable across campus that has a standalone network but no cabling to tie in to the corporate network. I have another 1252 that is in autonomous mode. Could I essentially configure that as a bridge with the same security and SSID in order to bridge the corporate WLAN? If not, what are my options?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a air-lap01131-ag-e-k9 that was originally in lightweight mode and configured with a controller, but i am in the process of wanting to convert to autonomous mode, i am having issues with connectivity to the AP from my laptop.
i have followed numerous guides on this forum, i have successfully
downloaded correct firmware
renamed the firmware to .default
placed this in root of tftp server folder
connected laptop via console to view output
connected laptop via Ethernet to Ethernet port of AP
changed static ip on laptop to 10.0.0.2 set subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, default gateway to 10.0.0.1
held reset button on AP when applying power and waiting for radio light to flash red
AP gets a IP address then of 10.0.0.1
But even though both laptop and AP are in the same subnet, i am unable to ping the AP from my laptop and it doesn't start the tftp process
I have disabled firewall etc, and tried with both crossover and straight through cable, it seems there is something missing at this last stage, i even tried on a second laptop but that would not ping either, am i missing something.
I have an AP 1141N-A-K9, from autonomous system, with this IOS ( c1140-k9w7-mx.124-21a.JA1), and a WLC 5508 with Version 7.X
I want to convert this AP to lightway to use with this controller.
I download de Version of IOS (c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2.tar) from cisco and the upgrade tool. but when I start the process in the upgrade tool the result is "this version is not supported by the upgrade tool", it pass all the requested information but show this error at the end.
I have some 1242s and I can't get a straight answer on whether they can do both autonomous and lightweight or just lightweight.
Model number: AIR-LAP1242AG-A-K9.
I'm assuming that the 'L' in the model numbers means it's just lightweight, but searching Cisco's site and the Internet in general it's just not clear.
I know it works as a lightweight AP, can I run it in autonomous mode?
some days ago I succesfully converted AIR-LAP1041N (lwapp) to AIR-AP1041N (autonomus).I used c1140-k9w7-tar.124-25d.JA1.tar which is available to download in Download Software Section for this AP.But there are any autonomus to lightweigt firmware for this AP.I tried to use c1140-rcvk9w8-tar. 124- 21a.JA2.tar for 1140 but AP hungs after that. How can i back to LWAPP version in 1041?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot TFTP this tar file to both 1230 and 1231 APs. Both are lightweight APs that I've wiped to the rommon mode (ap>) and I issue the command:
tar -xtract c1200/k9w7-mx.123-8.JA 10.0.0.2
And I get a error saying: "permission denied"
Notes:
The AP has defaulted to the 10.0.0.1 IP.
My laptop is set to 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.0 IP
My TFTP-Server is on and the root folder with the .tar file is in there.
ether_init, flash_init, tftp_init (these commands have been executed)
My firewall is disabled.
I keep getting the following error "Could not execute JDBC batch update" when trying to add AP to WCS ... other 1240 APs added without any problems.

We are planning a wireless network using the 1602i APs. Some of our APs might or might not be within the 100m limit from the switches, so we'll be running them as repeaters instead. Right now, we are planning on buying power injectors for everything, but I can't seem to find an answer to this question:
If I'm running an AP as a repeater (no ethernet running back to a switch), can it still receive power from a power injector and a short ethernet run between the injector and the AP? Or will I need to use a power adapter?
i have currently a 2504 WLC and some 1602i AP's.Basically so far i have configured the WLC as per the guidelines on the startup and now i want to join the AP's (which i haven't managed to do yet) and the setup the wireless network.I can get the AP to join and pickup an ip address and that is it. It comes up with different error messages from the WLC, and through hyper terminal, none of which i understand but the main jist is the following:
*spamApTask4: Feb 19 15:05:56.171: #CAPWAP-3-DECODE_ERR: capwap_ac_sm.c:3844 Error decoding Join request from AP 6c:20:56:0e:23:e0

I have a PC running my server application and several iPad Clients, and therefore need a WLAN to connect them.
Can I simply plug an access point such as a Cisco Aironet 1602i into the LAN port of the PC to accomplish this?
Our client have cisco 5500 Wireless lan controllers. They connect to core switch and other ports conenct to various switches on each floor. Then we have cisco AP 1300 series mounted on celing. I was reading that lightweight AP gets config from WLC as soon as they plug in. Need to know how the AP gets config from WLC switches?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHere is what I am attempting to do.
1. I have a 1042N AP configured as a Workgroup-Bridge attaching to a Lightweight Access Point.
2. LWAPP AP is on a 5508 series Controller.
3. I have MAC Authentication configured through an Ciso ACS box running 5.2 code. And that portion is working.
4. I want to lock this WGB down even further with a second layer of security. I am thinking WPA2 -AES.
