Cisco Wireless :: Linksys WUSB54G V4 Associates But No Internet Access
Mar 17, 2012
I have had a (small) wireless network running in my house for several years but increasingly have the problem that one desktop which connects via a Linksys WUSB54G v4 wireless adapter will connect (associate) with the router but have no internet access. I have another desktop and 2 laptops that will all be connected with internet when the desktop with the Linksys adapter has no internet. The desktop in question is running Windows XP service pack 3. I read several Knowledgebase articles. One led me to run IPCONFIG/ALL where I can see the Autoconfiguration Enabled is set to Yes but the IP address is all 0's, while the DHCP and DNS Servers show 192.168.1.1. Another article suggested updating driver's, but it appears that the drivers have not been updated since 2005.

I just had to re-install an ancient version of windows XP Home edition on a crashed PC. I plugged in my WUSB54G v4 to the USB outlet, and the wizard came up to install the software. However, XP couldn't find any drivers for it, and I don't appear to have a CD with drivers on it. So, where on this site can I find them? When I go to the WUSB54G page, it just gives me manuals to dowload, but no software...

Ive been using my linksys wusb54g network adapter for a while. I have windows vista and until today it has been working fine. I reinstalled my OS because i had been having blue screen of death problems. Now that i've done this, i cant seem to get my adapter to work againIve seen a bunch of sites saying i need to install ralink rt2500usb or something, but the links for it never work as these pages are several years old.I cant figure this out. All i need to do is get my internet working and this adapter just doesnt work. Theres no support for vista i guess.

We've been getting broadband through a WRT54G v2.2 router into numerous computers with WUSB54G v4 wireless adapters into winXP PC's for years now, but I've recently got a 64bit Win7 PC which needs internet connection. I spent all day today trying to find drivers, workarounds and god knows what for the WUSB54G v4 which (I'm pretty sure now ) don't exist for a 64bit system.
Â
How do I get internet into this Windows 7 PC? Will I just need to get a new adapter? (and will it be compatible with the current router?) I don't especially want to get a new router and several new adapters just because we have one new Win7 PC... If I do just need to get a new adapter, in terms of performance/compatibility?
Â
Oh, and how ancient is the hardware we actually have, and does/will it effect the internet in any way?Â

I've noticed that my WUSB54GSC is completely unsupported by Windows 7, nor has Linksys published any new drivers. From browsing these forums and the internet, many other Linksys users are experiencing much trouble with getting their wireless adapters to work with Windows 7.So please, Cisco, publish new Windows 7 drivers... I'm completely taken back that there is nothing to do with Windows 7 anywhere on your site, and disappointed at none of your products being ready for the new Operating System.  Im stuck with a useless router. I've tried for hours and hours to try random fixes i found on the internet, force install drivers preloaded on Windows 7, and force install the out of date Linksys drivers....to no avail. I still need to activate my Windows 7 online, and i can't activate it if my wireless adapter doesn't work. I will keep this in mind when i purchase routers/adapters in the future.  I've already tried using the ra-link drivers to get my adapter working, but every time i get a "code 10" error stating that "This device cannot start". Any driver that i do install from Windows 7 pre loaded drivers ends up giving me that error. And all the out-of-date linksys drivers don't even successfully install the drivers... Â

I'm having problems getting the WUSB54G v2 adapter work with the WRT160N router (firmware 2.0.03). I'm running Vista Home Premium SP1. My wireless network is not detected by the WUSB54G and is not on the list of wireless networks I can connect to. I'm  also having trouble connecting to WUSB54GP ver 4. The network is detected, but I can't connect.
Â
Change the Beacon Interval to 75
Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304
Change the RTS Threshold to 2307
Â
Now the WUSB54GP ver 4. is working perfectly, but the WUSB54G v2 still can't detect the network. I'm also running a PS3 and a laptop, which work perfectly with the WRT160N router. Also, the WUSB54G v2 system works just fine with my old router (WRTP54G).

I have a Linksys WUSB54G version 4 adapter. My computer is running Windows XP, Service Pack 3, which is automatically updated at all times. I've been using the adapter for a year with no problems.
Â
Suddenly, it's started loosing the connection to the Linksys router and locking up my computer so only a hard re-boot power-down will work. When it comes back up, some or all of my cookies are lost.
Â
I've run several different security packages but no virus or other issues have been found.I've uninstalled the adapter and reinstalled it.Last time, following something I read on this site, I installed it without the Linksys software, just the drivers.

Â
We've reloaded the 7.2.130 code and it didn't work.

I can connect to my router but either way it seems like i can't get any internet access (both wireless and by cable): url...I have tried the steps that the linksys FAQ suggests shall fix this problem, but this has not worked. I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).

Linksys Wireless router connected but no access to the internet. I do not have a modem in my flat from ISP, only a cable, since the internet is set for every apartment in the building. I have a username and password that I use to connect. There is no problem connecting with the cable. I set up by Belkin wireless router and I'm actually connected to internet wireless but it only works if I also enable the primary ISP connection on my computer so my laptop is connected to internet without a cable. But this weird connection does not allow me to connect my phone to wireless or any other computer. Also the router settings site says not connected to internet and the internet light on Belkin is off.I have a Slovenian ISP -Amis, cable connection and Belkin Wireless modem, Avira Free antivirus.

I've had a problem about the wireless router. I can easily connect to it, but the problem is it doesn't have an internet access even if I reconnect it to the ADSL Modem/Router. I can have access through the internet with the ADSL Modem/Router directly connected to my Aspire one laptop.

I have a Linksys E2000.
Â
It worked fine until one day, without any change at all, it simply stoped working. I mean, I can still connect through my wifi laptop connection (it shows connected to my router and says that I have an excelent signal). But, I can't reach the internet. But, If I unplug the internet cable, and plug it in my laptop, the connection works fine. A friend told me that this could be caused intentionally by the internet provider, that they would block my signal to avoid me using a wireless router, trying to force consumers to sign their own wireless service. Thus, by this friend advice, I've cloned my laptop's MAC address to the router. It didn't work either.

I have my main router, a E4200v2 which I use as a router and it provides wireless signal throughout my house, however reception is not as strong on the upper floor and there is a slight dead spot, so I purchased an E4200 for the uppermost floor.I set the E4200 to bridge mode so it will act solely as an AP.However connecting the two routers LAN to LAN and the AP does not access the internet.Setting a static IP for the router, instead of acquiring one via DHCP causes me to not be able to access the admin page on the AP.
Â
Connecting WAN on the E4200 to the LAN on the v2 does not work either. My goal here is to have my main router on 192.168.1.1 and the AP on 192.168.1.2 where I can access the admin settings for both routers in case I need to make changes.

The local connection works, I can ping to and from the computer connected to the WET610 and I can see the other computers, both wired and wireless, on the network so the wireless connection is ok but I can't connect to the Internet, I can't even ping the DNS I'm using. What can be wrong? All the other computers can access the Internet. The WET610 talks to a wireless AP which in turn is connected to a router

wrt54g wireless router so we could get Netflix through our Wii. I have a one year old Compaq and am running Windows 7 with a wireless Internet connection through my service provider. I installed the router with no problems and was able to get online with the Wii. However, I am no longer able to get Internet access on my desktop. It shows that my Internet is connected, but it shows "No Network Access". I had gotten on fine at first, then I went to the 192.168.1.1 site to configure my data. I changed my time zone and then went to secure my connection. I cannot remember the exact option I chose, but I think it was something like WAP2 Personal. As soon as I selected that the screen froze and I can no longer access that site or get online through the router.

I tried setting up a home network with my above Linksys router and can't connect to the internet now. I have the ethernet cable from my DSL Modem hooked into the ethernet port on the back of the Router. In port one, I have a cable which attaches directly to my laptop as I was advised to use a cable for initial setup of my home wireless network. I was able to get into the router to set all the passphrases and wireless security settings, etc. My ISP is PPPoe and I have entered both the UserId and Password that my ISP provided. However, upon clicking on the wireless icon, my system states I am connected but the status screen shows "No internet access". I have no problem connecting to the Internet when the cable runs from my DSL modem into my computer, so it's something to do with the router blocking it now.
Â
My ISP does not support my Linksys router, of course, and they tell me I need to contact the manufacturer telling me the router needs to be set up as a 'bridge" ??? There is no mention of anything like this in the manual and I do not know if there is a setting on the router that is somehow blocking my being able to get an internet connection. This is all still with cables attached. Again, I seem to be able to 'connect' to the wireless network but I now cannot get to the Internet thru the router...

I have a WRT54G2 router and when I try to connect to the internet, both wired and wirelessly, my network icon gives me a "No Internet Access" yellow sign icon. I have successfully connected to the internet by directly connecting to the modem and I have connected to other wireless networks using this computer so I have pretty much narrowed the problem down to the router. I have already perform a firmware upgrade to the latest version and did a hard reset of the router and setting it back up, to no avail. One problem I ran into while I was setting up though was that I can't even set it up with the WiFi-protected setup so I had to set up the password and stuff manually, as I have always done successfully in the past. I've never had a problem with this router in the past and so I think this router may be due for a replacement. I have contacted support through live chat and all the options they're giving me is either pay $25 to talk to someone about this or go through troubleshoot section.

I just got a Linksys router from a moving neighbor. Â The router is a Linksys WRT54G v5. She didn't have the power adaptor, so I found one that is 12VDC 500mA and it works. Â The factory resetted the device. Â I always get a signal, but it has that little error sign on it. Â It says my internet connection is broken. Â I believe this is caused by a bad ethernet port, but I have gotten into the internet sometimes. I have another router but it doesn't work either. On the other router I get a signal that as no error sign and says "Internet Access" but I still cannot access the internet. Â My laptop's network card works.

I am having issues with the WRT350n where I am getting an "No internet access" message. When I look at the wireless network connection I can see the wireless router and it says "connected" but when I scroll my mouse over the icon, it reads "No internet access". I try to access a webpage and it will not work. I originally had it connected and working properly in my home. However, I removed it and tried connecting in my office and started experiencing this problem. I did not run the setup using the CD provided. I just unplugged it from my home network and reconnected it to my office network, of course with a few passphrase changes and wireless MAC filters only allowing certain PC's to be able to access the internet. I double checked all MAC addresses of each device that I entered into the table and they are correct. All devices see the wireless network but cannot access the internet. Any suggestions? Should I re-run the installation using the CD?

I Have a Linksys WRT54GC router which I use as a switch. Recently I have been able to connect to the wireless connection, but I can't access the router or the internet. Computers that are using it as a switch have no problems, but they are setup with different network details.
I know that wireless is on, I have also tried pressing the reset button and wireless still doesn't work.

I have used the router successfully since purchasing it in April, 2008. The router is connected via cable to the main computer and there are two other computers in the home that are/were used with it. However I noticed that whenever I looked into the available networks in the 'sub' computers it was described as 'unsecured'. I therefore went into the Router [via 192.168.1.1] and amended some settings... forget what they were set at however I changed it to WEP and now shows up as 'secured'. Â
I now find that I cannot access the internet from the 'sub' [other two wireless] computers and get message 'network did not assign a network address to the computer' if checking 'repair does not restore connectivity... contact network manager. Use the system with Windows XP Professional on Dell Optiplex GX270.

Okay so my friend recently bought a Linksys E1200 Wireless-N Router. We set it up the other day and it all appears to be functioning just fine. The only problem is when we log into her wifi it says "No Internet Access". I'm moderately okay when it comes to computers but not expert and I'm horrible at the whole wifi router thing. Through my laptop I've done a Windows Network Diagnostic to see what was wrong and it says that my "computer is correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding."

I have a Linksys E1000 device that is connected to a DSL connection through a modem. I have a Laptop that is wirelessly connected to the router and a PC that is connected via cable. Lately, a problem started to occur where the router keeps losing the internet connection and Laptop tell me that it connected to the router but there in no internet access and the same thing happens to the PC, both disconnect at the same time. I called my ISP company when this happens and they told me that the connection is working fine and everything look ok from there. I connected my PC directly to the modem and it worked fine so problem is not from modem. When i go to the router settings at the moment this occurs, it shows that all IPs are 00000 and status is "Connecting" and then it connects and changes to "connected" and everything fine till like 15 minutes later where this happens again (sometimes, it actually disconnects again after like 15 seconds!). I took the router to the dealer and he examined it and told me there is nothing wrong but he updated the firmware and told me to try it but same thing so he exchanged it for a new one and problem is still there!
