Cisco Wireless :: SG200-8 When Connected To Network / Cannot See Some Machines
Apr 5, 2013
I'm pretty sure there is a very simple fix. When I am connected to my wireless network, I cannot see SOME connected machines. I feel like I have a domain named incorrectly. All of the items on my network are new...
Router - Cisco RV180
WLC - Cisco AIR-CT2504-K9
AP - Cisco AIR-LAP1041N-A-K9 <- 2 of these
The AP's are connected to Cisco SG200-8P, as is the 2504.The SG200-8P is connected to a Cisco SF302-8P, which is connected to the RV180 router.i don't have any separate VLANs setup (at least not on purpose)

I have a Linksys WRT120N that I use at home for wireless connectivity, with a total of three laptops that connect wirelessly, plus my Samsung Intercept phone. It's a mixed Wireless G and N network; the laptops run Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.The issue I'm having is this: the computers and phone do not stay connected on this network. Here's a for instance:Monday: I am able to connect wirelessly to my network with my laptop.Tuesday: I cannot connect to the same network; repairing the connection does nothing. Now substitute my laptop for the one running Windows 7, or Vista, or my phone. At that point, I have to power the router down and power it back on, and then we're back in business. The router currently is running version 1.0.05 of the firmware.

I am new to VLANs although I generally understand the concept. I have a small office with 25 desktop/laptops and 15 VoIP phones connected with a SG200-50 switch and on Port 1 I have the Cisco SRP541W router for DHCP and Internet access. My goal is simple: 1) Segregate the VoIP phones (voice) from the computers (data) and 2) Prioritize the VoIP phones traffic.
I believe this can be accomplished by setting up a second VLAN and maybe a third (if the default should not be used) and then identifying those ports as Voice VLAN ports. I guess I just need to know how to flag each interface and each port so that they all can talk to the router on Port 1 yet the voice and data will be in different broadcast domains. Also, do I need a management VLAN??
Is this setup correct? VLAN 1 - default (data) Port 1 (Trunk) (Tagged)Port 2 - 30 (Access) (Untagged)VLAN 2 - voice Port 1 (Trunk) (Tagged)Port 31 - 48 (Access) (Untagged) What should the interface settings be on each port (General, Access or Trunk)? What should the port VLAN membership be on each port (Tagged or Untagged)??

SG200-08 and SG200-08P fail to hold or update Date/Time.(New installation for a UC320 setup.)I've got both an SG200-08 and SG200-08P that are failing to maintain date/time when set with "Use Local Settings". Every restart/powercycle causes them to reset to Dec 31 1969. Other settings save fine.I first tried to set time via SNTP Unicast using a variety of public time server addresses including the 3 hard coded to the SG200-08 firmware:
Sadly though it always just shows "Active Server Server Host Address: 0.0.0.0" and continues having 12/31/1969 as the date. Both after a config save and a reboot.I can ping the NTP servers just fine from the switches either by IP or by hostname. At this point I've decided that I must be missing something simple. At least I hope so... otherwise it's a firmware bug which means waiting for a fix.Other devices behind the same firewall/gateway (RVS4000) are updating NTP

how to connect our new SG200-18 to an existing Cisco network, in particular a C2960S.Here's what I've got:
<----- Rest of network ------- C2960S ----------- SG200 ----- (PC connected directly to the SG200)
On the C2960S-side here's what I've got on the corresponding interface:
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
switchport mode trunk
On the SG200-side I've set the IP-address and default-gateway accordingly, however:From the SG200 I can't ping any other host on the same IP-subnet as the switchFrom the SG200 can't ping the default-gatewaycan't ping from any other host or the default-gateway *to* the switch But:On the SG200 I've got plenty of MAC-addresses under "Dynamic Address Table" - however only MAC-addresses that belong to the management-VLAN of the SG200 (i.e. VLAN9 in my case)The MAC-address table on the SG200 even includes the MAC-addresses of hosts on the same VLAN I tried to ping without success. For example: I tried a PING from a host having a MAC-address of 00:19:bb:31:91:30. This MAC shows up in the arp table of the SG200. To cross check I connected a dedicated PC to the SG200 and assign it an IP-address out of the management-LAN-range of the SG200 - in this case I can access the switch (i.e. PING, WEB etc.)So to summarize: Connectivity is OK when going from directly connected devices to the SG200. No connectivity from devices that are behind the C2960S towards the SG200 and vice versa. (The problem is definitely not with the C2960S-side since we've got plenty of them hooked together without problems.) I'm enclosing the screenshots of the corresponding definitions on the SG200.

I'm baffled by the poor performance that I'm seeing when passing traffic between my two Cisco SG switches.
The configuration is as basic as I can make it, no VLANs, QoS or bonding. Both have been updated to current firmware as part of the troubleshooting process.
When I transfer data within one of my switches I see 50/60Mb/s. When I pass the same traffic between both switches I see 0.6 Mbs/ or less.
I have tried to eliminate every possible factor including switching out the cables. No success.

I need to create a network bubble..means..Let say I have 4 machines having IP address 10.1.1.1,10.1.1.2, 10.1.1.3 and 10.1.1.4 (these are not actual IP's, using them just for explaining). These machines are connected to public network. At a given point in time, I need to isolate these machines from the public network in a way where - All these 4 machines can talk to each other using the assigned IP's. - These 4 machines cannot talk to any other nodes in the public network. no other machines outside these 4, will be able to ping these machines.

I have a list of servers that will be migrated from one subnet to another. Is there a script that can take my file that has the server name and the new IP address and modify the existing servers' network from the list? I want to place the script on the servers before I am ready to change subnets for preparation.

I am having a very strange issue with connecting new machines to reach the internet. We have a ASA 5505 which the previous tech configured the DHCP pool to 192.168.1.60 - 192.168.1.110
We ended up reaching our limit which I changed it to: 192.168.1.60 - 192.168.187
Then next day when I arrived to work, our DC was hung from windows updates. Once we got everything back up, every computer currently on the network can reach the internet/VPN tunnels etc. So (continuing with my day) I created a new server in a VM (Hyper-V)I can ping everything internally (even the router) 192.168.1.1, but I cannot resolve DNS. I have configured a static IP, tried Dynamic IP.I have looked for any ACL indicating to block outside the range of the old DHCP pool but no luck.On my local maching I can ping the DNS addresses, but just not on the new server.

I have SG200 50/50 Port Switch and the devices that connect into it are servers and workstations
Few days and until we experience network dropouts and when take a look at the switch log it gives me this?

Device connected to gi3 is a Web Server
This is also happening on more ports ie 20-printer, 13-Cisco Wireless Access Point, 24 File Server etc., which I don't know what is going on. With my research, it said something about spanning protocol. Is this possible to disabled?
The other cisco switch where desktop are also connected doesn't have this error.
My firmware is 1.1.0.73
Boot Version 1.0.0.1

We have an existing network with a Catalyst 4510 core switch and departmental 3560 switches connected via fiber. Due to company restructure we can no longer afford to buy new 3560's when anything goes wrong so this week I purchased an SG200-26 which I'm trying to get onto the network.
This is a legacy network which I didn't setup so my Cisco skills are somewhat limited (another reason for the SG200's hopefully), anyway have been looking at the configs on the existing switches and trying to match settings in the SG200 setup however not getting anywhere! I have the config from the dead switch so I can show what needs to be achieved, any experience in downgrading environment in a similar way?

I was given a task of creating a vlan and isolating one pc to access an internal website (192.168.90.15) on a specific port (port 8080)The pc is connected in the following manner:
PC--> HP Switch --> Cisco Small Business SG200 switch --> 3550 Catalyst 1, 3550 Catalyst 2 and 3550 Catalyst 3.
I have created a vlan 110 on the Main 3550 Catalyst switch and successfully added the pc to that vlan. However, that PC must be able to access the internet and an internal website on port 8080.I have placed an access-list on the main 3550 catalyst switch which is connected to our router as below:
Client ip address: 192.168.100.2
VLAN 110: 192.168.100.3
access-list 110 permit tcp host 192.168.100.2 host 192.168.90.15 eq 8080access-list 110 permit icmp host 192.168.100.2 anyaccess-list 110 deny ip 192.168.100.0 0.0.0.255 ? I was unable to access the webserver even after many attempts.

After that two of my roommate machines are not getting connected to WiFi. Even I cant see ssid being detected in thier machines. How to connect to the machines. I have tried by removing security also but those two machines cant even detect the network being broadcasted by us. But it is detecting other networks (neighbors wifi).

Once again the sun sinks into its nightly reprieve; for the third time since I first set out on this mission. Before me, only the piercing glows of monitors that sting my eyes. Yet, I cannot look away. The clacking of keys, once triumphant battle drums of purpose, has grown sharp. They pierce my ears and my mind. It would be madness to continue. My body is weak. My resolve is waning. My sanity ...... tenuous. But if seeing this through means madness.....bring on the madness.
I'm trying to find a way to network my desktop (wired) and my laptop (wifi) so that I can swap files between the two easily. I've mostly been attempting this through Windows Homegroup, although I've also downloaded and installed TeamViewer. The thing is, the two just will not connect. After much poking around I found the specific symptom to be that wired connections and wireless connections refuse to speak. My laptop sees my roomie's laptop easily enough, though. And if I hardline my laptop to the router suddenly their best friends! - joining each others' Homegroup, swapping files, trading recipes!
Points of interest: I've noticed that, while both are enabled, only IPv4 connectivity indicates internet access; IPv6 says No Internet Access. Pings from one machine to the other result in "Request timed out" or "Destination Host Unreachable." I've disabled firewalls - Windows and the one on the router. Disabled and then uninstalled anti-virus. I've updated the router firmware and net adapter drivers I tried restoring router to factory settings, in case I changed something I shouldn't have along the way. I've alternated static and dynamic ip addresses - no difference there. I've just spotted a couple of errors in the Event Viewer that look like they could be leads;(!)ErrorDhcp-Client The IP address lease 192.168.2.2 for the Network Card with network address 0x6CF049E337F0 has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.2.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).

Have been experiencing speeds of max 2.5 Mbps for transferring files between Windows 7 machines connected wirelessly to a Billion 800VGT router. A speed of maximum 18 Mbps was achieved. No matter what I did to adaptor settings it was the best possible. Have 6 wireless machines which I cross checked multiple times using Lan Speed Test by Totusoft.I then disabled the wireless security (WPA-PSK) on my Billion 800VGT router and secured the network by using the Wireless MAC address filter. My speed immediately increased to 11Mbps between wireless machines. Speeds to machines on fixed lan increased to 26 Mbps.

I have a laptop (let me call it A) with Intel Centrino 1030-N wireless (iwlwifi module), running Arch Linux, and another laptop (I will call it B) with Atheros AR928X wireless (ath9k module), running Ubuntu 11.10. They connect to a wireless network provided by a D-Link DI-524 router (802.11g), which in turn connects to a DSL modem (10Mbps/1Mbps link)
Copying files between those machines, either through scp or mounting a share via NFS or Samba, is very slow (at most 200 KB/s) and sometimes fails (times out), even when both machines are inches away from the router. However, downloading files on either machine works correctly at the expected speeds (~1.2 MB/s).
I ran iperf, as recommended in a comment, and it gave me this: [code] The bandwidth is very low, as can be seen from those results.

After moving I was using a wireless Internet connection for a while but then I started using a direct connection to a router. Now I'm back to wireless but I'm having this problem, my brother has been using the wireless from the beginning and still does so I'm sure it's my computer. No browsers work, no games, nothing can connect to the Internet.I'm running windows 7 and now the Internet icon in the taskbar is the computer monitor with a yellow triangle as opposed to the bars of wireless internet unless I'm connected or trying to connect to the wireless Internet that either says I have limited connectivity or is connected but doesn't work.

Bought multiple WAP121s which are physically connected via CAT5 to the Ethernet NIC of a printer. Printer is in a warehouse with no Ethernet cabling -- but there is a wifi signal provided by a Cisco wireless router -- which is why we got the WAPs -- so PCs could get their jobs sent to the printer via Wifi > WAP > printer NIC.
Problem is the printers only stay visible on for about 15 min or so -- then disappear. Only way to get them visible again is to do a powercycle on the printer (not the WAP121). Then it stays visible for for another 15 minutes or so -- then disappears. If a Workstation sends a continues (-t) ping to the printer IP -- the printer will stay online and get print jobs.... but if activity is idle for 10-15 minutes... it disappears (power-save is off on the printer).
Firmware on WAP121 is current.
What setting on the WAP could be enable to keep the printers alive? have been trying to operate in bridge mode... What is the "best practice" here for connecting a printer to a WIFI via these WAP121s?
