Cisco Wireless :: Setup Public Wi-Fi Without A Password AP1142AG
Jan 22, 2013
I am trying to set up Public wifi on my three AP1142AG WAPs. They are configured for WDS and VLAN 1 is our corporate network. VLAN 2 is the public network. All this works just fine. What I need to do is make the Public WiFi available without a password. But, the client (a City) is adamant.)Failing a NO PASSWORD scenario is there a way to make the password short (3 or 4 characters at most).
I would like to set up a free wireless network in our local church hall for the local teenagers to use on the way home from school. We have an ADSL router and an office computer that we would need to keep secure.Obviously we'll need a wireless hub, but keeping the public wireless separate from the Ethernet connected PC is essential.
I'm trying to setup my DMZ so all my servers will have public IPs assigned to them. I'm currently trying to use two interfaces on each server, one with a private IP and then one with a public IP. All my internal traffic will go over the private interfaces...this is working. However, I'm having a problem trying to get it so the public interfaces work. Ultimately, these will be VM Hosts and have VM guests on them, each guest will have it's own public IP.
I have a Catalyst 2960 switch (2960-8TC-L) and running Software version 12.2(53)SE1.I mange to configure SSH to the switch and add addition user as well. Now I need to configure this switch password less log in with public key SSH authentication.
I configured several Linux servers and Workstations for the public key SSH authentication. So far I could not figure out how to do this in CISCO switch. Following link {URL} how to do this. But ip ssh pub key- chain command never work showed invalid command.
is it possible to set up a public and private password on a single router so that the public connection can be dissabled without having to turn off the private one?
I have some unruly housemates that like to try to take advantage and i only have one cat5 cable and that is already connected to a computer. i have 4 other devices that i use my wifi on and i want to be able to use them without letting my roomies use my connection. and only allow them to use the web during the day.
we have hosted voip and would like have our internet as back for their router. We gave them public static ip so they can configure that in their router. How can i configure the ip address in our firewall let say on asa5510 ethernet port 3 so if their router T1 goes out then our internet will work as backup.
At my company, we lease 3 static public IP addresses from 1 ISP. We want to have 3 separate networks that each use one of the IP addresses. Network 1 is the computer network, network 2 is the VOIP network, and network 3 is the security camera network. I am trying to determine the best way to do this. I have come up with 2 solutions in my head, but I'm not sure if they will work or not. I would like to get some input. Solution 1:Solution 1 looks something like this. Fiber box -> Router-> 3 switches. There would be one WAN input on the router, that would have a static route to 3 different LAN ports. For example, address 24.244.208.101 would be assigned to LAN port 1, 24.244.208.102 would be assigned to LAN port 2, and 24.244.208.103 would be assigned to LAN port 3 (by assigned, I mean have a static route to it). Is there some type of router that is capable of doing this? Solution 2:Solution 2 looks something like this. Fiber box -> Switch -> 3 Routers. The ethernet cable would run from the Fiber Box to a switch, and then 3 routers would be plugged into the switch. Each router would have the Static information configured in them. Would both of these methods work? If so, which would be the best way to go?
Trying to ssh from our QNAP to our switches and copy the running-config.These tests are on an SG-300. When ready well be doing the same thing on all of our 2960's. So maybe the SG300 is the problem.
getting my additional IP addresses working on my ASA 5510. I have a /29 allocation and outbound access and inbound access to my internal www server is working fine through the default outside interface. However, I now need to setup a second IP address that maps internally to a different web server. When I setup a new network object with automatic NAT translation to the new IP address, it does not work. If I setup the same scenario using the outside interface, it works fine. What is the proper way to setup additional IP address on my ASA v8.4?
LAN (192.168.1.X, with .3 as gateway) DMZ (192.168.2.X with .1 as gateway) WAN (X.X.X.146 as primary public IP, .145 as gateway and .147-150 as additional public IPs)
I want to set it up so that X.146 is where all my outbound traffic appears to originate.I want tcp HTTPS and SMTP to be allowed from the WAN (via the X.147 IP) to a specific server (192.168.1.11) on the LAN.Also, HTTP traffic to X.148, X.149 and X.150 should go to DMZ and 192.168.2.8, 192.168.2.15 and 192.168.2.18 respectively, but I haven't added that to my config yet. Looking to get the HTTPS and SMTP ones working first, then I'll fix the others (one step at a time)I've got contact with the outside world when I've configured it using the ASDMs "Public Server" interface, but it refuses to properly establish the connection, I get a "SYN timeout".
My config:
: Saved : ASA Version 8.2(5) ! hostname kcisco enable password X encrypted passwd X encrypted names
Just got my router running and when I connected to it via my laptop, it didn't ask for a password and it says unsecured connection when I put my mouse over it. Where do I go in the settings? I do not see it at all?
I have a Netgear ProSafe VPN Firewall FVX538. But I also have 10 Public IP Addresses that I will like to setup for three web services. So how do I set this up. With multiple routers. Or can my Netgear FVX538 take multiple Public IP Addresses to the same ports. If not how can setup multiple routers. one being the main one.
I am using a Wireless G Broadband Router. It is a model WRT54G2.When I was setting up the product for use, part of the process was selecting a password, which I did. After a successful installation, I started to use the wireless internet without an issue...My problem is that none of the computers that I logged on with require my entering the password. I thought that access was supposed to be password protected.
I used Cisco connect to set up guest access with a secure password. Cisco Connect now indicates guess access is allowed and shows the password. However, when I actually try to connect to the guest network, it shows no security at all, and I can join the network without a password.
I'm trying to setup a Linksys wireless-g router model number WRT54G with my DSL connection. I followed the basic instructions that came with the router and towards the end of the process it says detecting network settings with a % bar. The bar fills to 100% and then asks for a password. I've tried the password my DSL company gave me along with various other things like admin etc. After I enter the password I hit enter and it just asks me for the password over and over again.
i have a Linksys modem BEFSR81 v.3 and am trying to reset my wifi password for secure connection. When i log into the the admin page, to my surprise, I could not find the security feature to create WPA or WEP password. i'm stumped. This has never occurred to me before on this modem.
One of our vendors requires using a public ip address to setup a site-to-site IPSEC vpn. We only have one public ip address and that will be used for the vpn endpoint and for internet access for the local network. I've setup policy NAT from our local network to the outside interface. I'm also using the outside ip address for the crypto map. The tunnel setups successfully and the Tx count increases anytime I try to ping the remote network, but the ping fails and the Rx count does not increase. According to our vendor, we should be able to ping the remote network and connect using port 443. When trying to connect using port 443, I see a SYN timeout in the logs. I'm not sure if the problem is on their end and they're rejecting our traffic, or if something is misconfigured on our end. I'd like to make sure that I have everything configured correctly before I go and point fingers at them.
Local Network - 10.10.9.0/24 Remote Network - 20.20.41.0/24 Remote Peer - 20.20.60.193 .ASA Version 8.2(5) ! hostname ciscoasa
How do I set up a password to secure my home wireless network. Gate is on a XP desktop. Just have my Vista notebook on network. Use WCG200 gateway which was given to me by relative who has upgraded.
I am using the 26 character WEP code. Was wondering if it's possible to setup a short password or PIN number. Been troubleshooting problems with a wireless blue ray player that has required multiple resets. Entering the wep code with the remote is hard!
I have a WRT54G V8 and everyone says the username to sign is is blank and the password is admin. I have tried this and it does not work. I have also reset the router several times and this also does not work.
i need to allow https traffic to a server in the DMZ that will have a routable IP address will just an ACL suffice ?which interface do i apply it to ? wan or dmz ?i dont need a NAT since the DMZ is a routable space?
We currently have a client that uses the IPSec VPN Client to remote in to their PIX 501. When they connect, it secures communication and immediately connects/minimizes and the tunnel-group name/password is sufficient so no prompt for a username/password from a local/radius database.
When setting this up on a newly purchased ASA, a username/password is prompted every time they try to connect. Is there a way to eliminate this feature or a command in the tunnel-group or group policy so that a username/password is not required after the connection profile establishes the VPN? It is ASA 8.4.
