Cisco Wireless :: WAP121 Returns To Factory Defaults On Power Cycle?

Jun 11, 2012

I've just bought a pair of WAP121 for testing and validation. I've set it up properly (user/password, IP, management vlan, NTP, SNMP, 802.1x, etc). So far, so good, everything worked as expected. I've downloaded the configuration to my PC, and also saved it to startup-config. I've powered off the unit, went for a coffee, and powered it back. All my settings were lost.

Tried to restore settings from the file downloaded to my PC, but no luck. After reboot, it was factory clean, no trace from settings in the backup file. I've set it up again by hand, power cycled it, and the **** thing reloaded to default settings.

Faulty unit, I thought, so I opened the other one I have, and repeated the whole thing, but same results. Test were made using the power adapter supplied but also tried with a catalyst 2960 with PoE.

- boot AP while holding down the mode button

- ap: delete flash:private-multiple-fs

- yes

- ap: boot

- when the AP boots fully I try and enter any lwap ap commands and get "ERROR!!! Command is disabled"

- the AP name and password were reset to defaults but I am unable to get the IP address cleared.

I've also tried "clear lwapp private-config" and get an error saying the command is disabled.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT120N Reset To Factory Defaults

Oct 26, 2009

We've lost our WRT120N's administrator password and are trying to reset it to factory defaults. One peculiar thing that we have noticed is that the router has an IP of 192.168.106.1 rather than the default of 192.168.1.1 (this is verified by the default gateway, as well as a login prompt when 192.168.106.1 is put into a browser).Things we've tried to do to reset the router:

1) Press and hold the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds

2) Press and hold the reset button at the back of the router for 60 seconds

Interestingly, doing either of these things seemed to have no effect on the status lights.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160Nv3 Constantly Resetting To Factory Defaults?

Jan 9, 2010

WRT160Nv3 Firmware Version: v3.0.02

I've been using Linksys for years but the last two routers I have purchased have been very problematic.

- My router hasn't had this problem before. The other day I was downloading 4 games at a time from STEAM, when I got home from work I found that my router had completely gone back to factory settings.  So I configured my DSL PPPoE, SSID, Wireless Security (WPA) changed the default admin PW and about 20 minutes later it was back to factory again.

I've done a "hard" reset and reconfigured and still it resets itself. What's also upsetting is this completely opens my network up to ANYONE when this happens...

So far in the past 2 days I have (now using a backup restore file) re-configured the device 10 times.

The only thing I can think of is that I just got Windows 7 the same day this started happening. I thought it could be STEAM as well so right now I have STEAM closed to see if it resets while it isn't running.

Could TOO much demand on the router cause it to completely reset itself to factory config?? Seems to me like there's a huge firmware or hardware problem here.

I have other friends and even co-workers that also have problems galore with their Linksys products...No other router it seems has as MANY issues as Linksys. Hat to say it but my next purchase most likely will not be another one of their products. This just shouldn't be happening.

Cisco Wireless :: Power Cycle Aironet 1242ag WAP Often?

Nov 14, 2012

I'm having a little issue with some Cisco Aironet1242ag WAP's. I receive a call at least twice a month stating that some of the WAP's are not giving out internet connection. What I always do is go to my patch panel and disconnect those WAP's not working and connect them back again so they can power cycle. These WAP's are connected to a Cisco3750g. Once the WAP's boot up, the users can connect to the WAP and connect to the internet.

I don't know if these WAP's are filling up with some information that causes the access points to not connect to the WAN.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Restoring Factory Defaults / Upgrading To Latest Firmware

Sep 16, 2010

I just upgraded to a E3000 from a WRT54G and I am having some issues with network speed.I have no special settings and have even tried restoring factory defaults and upgrading to the latest firmware to no avail. The time I notice the biggest hit is when transferring files locally on the network (WiFi and LAN).Let me note that I do know the difference between MB/s & Mb/s and the like.I have Comcast 20Mb/s Down, 1.5Mb/s Up (just a FYI, the main issue is local transfers)

With default settings my Laptop (ASUS N82JQ, Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter), connects to the router at only 65Mb/s (with full signal).Upload seems to be more decent ~600KB/s (Transferring files from wireless n laptop to the gigabit desktop).Download seems to be limited to ~150KB/s (Copying files from the wired gigabit desktop to the wireless n laptop). These speeds are horrible! ~5hrs to transfer 3GB of data!

One of my laptops had a card that was capable of both 2.4 & 5Ghz and I was previously getting ~2000-5000KB/s (2-5MB/s) transfers with this router (But I had to do a system restore on it and reset the router). My ASUS laptop seems to only work with 2.4Ghz though. If I change the 2.4Gh Wireless settings on the router to "Auto(20MHz or 40MHz)" the laptop will connect at 150Mb/s, but the speeds are the same slow speeds as above.

Cisco Wireless :: LAP1142 Looses Configuration After Power Cycle

Aug 27, 2012

We have some 1242 LAPs in a two 5508 controller setup working fine. All LAP are configured to obtain address from DHCP. After first join we usually change some configs like HOSTNAME, AP GROUP, PRIMARY AND SECONDARY WLC. After a software restart or a complete power off/power on the LAPs joins the primary controller and all configuration still there. We now add a 1142 LAP and is does not retain the configuration after a power off/power on cycle, but after a software restart there is no problem. The only way to retain the config is setting the AP with a static IP address.

We use WLC 7.0.116 and we see no errors in the LAP console.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GS Factory Defaults / Resetting Connection Type From PPPoE To Bridge

Jan 17, 2012

I'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.

Cisco WAN :: Resetting 2811 To Factory Defaults

Apr 14, 2011

I have tried to reset a Cisco 2811 to factory defaults to no avail. The system is locked, meaning it's set to go immediately to username and password before doing anything else after boot up. I cannot get to ROMMON, nor can the CTRL-B break sequence allow me the option. THere is a "no-password recovery" option that apparently is set (or unset?) but I cannot work with that.

I am a newbie with the routers, but I have tried various CTRL-B breaks from bootup, to particular times through the boot up sequence.

I do NOT have "enable" (also known as "privileged EXEC") access on the router.  The router, when purchased, had a username and PW that is required to even get to the basic level 1 access. Without it the PW, I can't even get to exec mode.

Cisco WAN :: Load Factory Defaults For 881W

May 19, 2013

I wanted to load the factory defaults for my 881W so I could get a clean start. Following this Cisco article: [URL]. I used the following commands while tel netted in via an ether net cable to one of the ether net ports: router#configure terminal router(config)#config-register 0x2102router(config)#end router#reload System configuration has been modified. Save? [yes/no]: n Proceed with reload? [confirm] .

Once I hit enter to proceed with the reload, the router power cycled. From that point forward, I never got a link light or connection via my ether net cable to the router on any of the ether net ports (0,1,2,3). I can get a link light on WAN FE4, but no DHCP ip address to telnet in. I do not have a Cisco USB console cable, which is why I've been trying this via my ether net cable. Hopefully, I didn't ***** up the router.

Cisco Routers :: WRV210 Resets To Factory Defaults?

Sep 23, 2010

I purchased a WRV210. I configure the device, setup all my tunnels, WAN, LAN, Wirelss, Security, etc. and within 48 hours it "automatically" resets itself back to "out of the box" settings. This has happened twice now - once after it ran for about 4 days and the second time after only 5 or so hours of opperation.

Is this a known issue with the device? Is there an update I need to apply? I'd give ya my current FW version but I cannot login as it appears to have rest once again lol - and my tunnels are down so no remote access.

I made a backup of the config after the first unscheduled reset - (.bin file) so I have my settings ready to restore.

Cisco Switches :: Resetting SRW2008MP To Factory Defaults?

Jun 14, 2011

I have a Linksys SRW2008MP that I am trying to reset to factory defaults. The guy who set this up is no longer employed at my company, and I do not know the IP address to login with a web browser. The switch does not have a reset button on the back. I follow the instructions from Cisco's website, which include connecting a console cable and using HyperTerminal to login. I can connect to the switch and watch it boot up in HyperTerminal. However, when I get to the point of inputting user name and password (which should be 'admin' and '<blank>', I can't figure out how to make to terminal emulator accept the input (much like pressing the Enter button in a web browser). According to the pictures on Cisco's website, there should be an Action -> Edit -> Execute option down below the login, but I don't see it, so maybe the switch has to verify my credentials before I get to that prompt?

This is the first time in my life using HyperTerminal, and I think that's where my problem is. How do I get HyperTerminal to accept my input?

I have also tried using TeraTerm, a different console cable, and a different computer.

D-Link DIR-825 :: Using NTP Server But Time Not Correct After Power-cycle?

After this the time is correct again. This is as bad as not having the Automatic Time Configuration option at all, since I can't guarantee that the power won't go out. I do not have a UPS hooked up to back up the router, nor do I see why I should need one if the Automatic Time Configuration actually worked.know if there is a way of making the Automatic Time Configuration reliable so the time on my router is automatically corrected when the power comes back up?

The certificate on the router still looks valid.

The only way to get the sessions back up is to renew the certificate, which seems strange as the existing one appeared to be still valid.
