Cisco WAN :: 1841 Router Loses Configuration After Power Cycle?
Jan 24, 2013
I have a Cisco 1841 Router with ADVANCE IPSERVICE IOS .The said router does not safe config, even after saving the config? As soon as the power cycled all the config will be lost? what can be done to correct this ?
We have some 1242 LAPs in a two 5508 controller setup working fine. All LAP are configured to obtain address from DHCP. After first join we usually change some configs like HOSTNAME, AP GROUP, PRIMARY AND SECONDARY WLC. After a software restart or a complete power off/power on the LAPs joins the primary controller and all configuration still there. We now add a 1142 LAP and is does not retain the configuration after a power off/power on cycle, but after a software restart there is no problem. The only way to retain the config is setting the AP with a static IP address.
We use WLC 7.0.116 and we see no errors in the LAP console.
recently bought a new Linksys EA3500 that is connected to my SB5120 cable modem. For two weeks it's been running smoothly but when my cable modem is in need of a power cycle.I power cycle both the router and modem but my connection is lost. it's after countless hours of messing with the two I'll get the connection back but I'm afraid it'll lose connection again, that and I fear I may have enabled bad options.
I have an E1200 and if a device - such as my tablet or laptop - is left unused for a period of time - say for 4 or 5 hours - they won't reconnect to the router unless I do a power cycle/reset on the router.
We have a Model WRT54GLWireless-G router. At least once a day it loses it's internet connection. All computers that are wired to the switch that is connected to it lose their internet as well as any wireless devices. I have to manually power-cycle the router to get internet back.
1 x AIR-WLC-2106-K9 (IOS = 6.0.199.4) 4 x AIR-LAP1131G-E-K9 (IOS = 12.4(21a)JHB1)
All configued ok with 2 SSID's associated to 2 VLANS all operates as expected. However every few 2 to 12 hours the WLC crashes, locks up.Unabale to contact via telnet or browser, will not respond to ping. The LAPs remain up but the WLANS go off air etcOnly a physical restart of the WLC will bring it back.
I'm having a little issue with some Cisco Aironet1242ag WAP's. I receive a call at least twice a month stating that some of the WAP's are not giving out internet connection. What I always do is go to my patch panel and disconnect those WAP's not working and connect them back again so they can power cycle. These WAP's are connected to a Cisco3750g. Once the WAP's boot up, the users can connect to the WAP and connect to the internet.
I don't know if these WAP's are filling up with some information that causes the access points to not connect to the WAN.
I have access controls setup on my DIR-825 which work fine until there is a power outage and my router comes back up.I am using Automatic Time Configuration and have the NTP server set to ntp1 [URL]When the router comes back up I checked to make sure the NTP server option is still enabled, and it is, however the current time is totally wrong. To fix this I had to go to the pull-down, select 'ntp1.dlink.com' and then save the settings. After this the time is correct again. This is as bad as not having the Automatic Time Configuration option at all, since I can't guarantee that the power won't go out. I do not have a UPS hooked up to back up the router, nor do I see why I should need one if the Automatic Time Configuration actually worked.know if there is a way of making the Automatic Time Configuration reliable so the time on my router is automatically corrected when the power comes back up?
It seems there's no way to reboot this device from the browser interface. You have to actually go and recycle the power by physically pressing the button.Plus, to setup Port Forwarding you have to reboot the modem. This is a major problem because it means you have to be on the premises to change things like the port forwarding. You setup it up, but have to reboot for it to take effect.
I've setted the unit in BRIDGE MODE, and attached on it 3 LAN devices, 1 PC Desktop, 1 NAS WDBE and 1 HP printer ... OK all config process was right and all my units talk togheter via AP Netgear DNG2000, and so i can use for instance the printer with my laptop too connected in WI-FI N. Now usually, In the night I turn off all my devices (DAP included), and when in the morning I need only the printer used by my laptop, obviously I turn on ROUTER - BRIDGE - PRINTER - LAPTOP but NOT the DESKTOP ... and so the DAP can't reconnect automatically to the router (both the lights AP/BRIDGE are on and fixed) ... I turn on the PC and the BRIDGE reconnect to the world .... BUT I DON'T WANT turn on everytime the desktop !
1) all gears has fixed IPs
2) DHCP server deactivated on the AP main router (DNG2000)
3) no WPS used, only WPA2-PSK (AES) personal keys on all gears
once that DAP-1522 is connected to the router .... all work fine (also when I turn off the DESKTOP).so the workaround is never turn-off the DAP ? I can't believe ... and who will save the energy planet
I've just bought a pair of WAP121 for testing and validation. I've set it up properly (user/password, IP, management vlan, NTP, SNMP, 802.1x, etc). So far, so good, everything worked as expected. I've downloaded the configuration to my PC, and also saved it to startup-config. I've powered off the unit, went for a coffee, and powered it back. All my settings were lost.
Tried to restore settings from the file downloaded to my PC, but no luck. After reboot, it was factory clean, no trace from settings in the backup file. I've set it up again by hand, power cycled it, and the **** thing reloaded to default settings.
Faulty unit, I thought, so I opened the other one I have, and repeated the whole thing, but same results. Test were made using the power adapter supplied but also tried with a catalyst 2960 with PoE.
When our DSL modem drops its connection, even momentarily, the RV220W requires a power cycle before the computers on the LAN can browse again. When I connect to the router, the WAN Information displays the word Connecting, rather than Connected.
We have a DSL modem connected to the router, the router connected to an ethernet switch, and our small business pc's connected to the switch.
My dependable WRT160N started behaving oddly during last week.Suddenly without apparent cause, its whole configuration is restored to factory default by itself.I've noticed one week ago and last night when I lost my internet connection that the router changed its admin IP, login, ISP settings, Etc to factory default.I've used this router for almost 3 years or so with no problem at all. Always fast and easy.I'm using port forwarding, TZO account, NAS, protected WiFi settings, FW... Etc and is really annoying to rebuild everything once a week.
I have 2 cisco 1841 routers the one is connected to my local network and the other is the stub router and it only has 2 fastethernet interfaces. fao/1 connected to the local network and fa0/0 connected to the internet and to the other router. How can i configure NAT on the fa0/0 which is sharing the internet and local network
Purchased the RVS4000 in 11/2012 to work behind a NVG512 in (pass thru mode). I'm running firmware version V2.0.2.7. For whatever reason once or twice a month I lose access to the internet. Sometimes it's AT&T fault but other times my RVS4000 dosen't behave well. I finally took screen shots of every screen I configured in the RVS4000 to make it work in my environment. Last night we lost internet access again. Before unplugging everything I looked in the RVS4000 and found that my WAN setup had reverted back to a default Automatic Configuration - DHCP instead of the Static IP that I had previously saved.
It seems that my RVS4000 is losing just that WAN setting (port forwarding and Static IP Mapping data and VPN client data is still intact.
i have a 1841 cisco router and i recently purchased a 1 port HWIC wan interface card. My problem is that I cannot see the interface in my config file. Is there something i am missing?
The connection with ISP or Extra net is a metro Ethernet, so the isp gave two ip address to the client: WAN (/30) LAN (/29) Which be the public addresses to be used by the client if you need to publish any server on the network (like WWW), so they do not have any device that will could do the nat, like an asa or linux server, so the router has to do the Nat, because the SW 3560 does not support this feature.
So... I did the following:
On router 1841: inter fast 0/0 description WAN no shut [ code ]...
I create an interface Blackpool to simulate the LAN connection (192.168.1.0/24)
Inter loopb 0 ip address 192.168.1.254 255.255.255.0 ip nat inside [ code ] ...
ON SWITCH:
interface vlan 448 description LAN-ME ip address Z.Z.Z.48 255.255.255.248 no shut ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Z.Z.Z.47
But if i try to do ping from the ip address 192.168.1.0/24 to any server´s internet the ping fails, but if i do the ping from v LAN 228 the ping is success. I will think that route map could solve the problem.
I am configuring a 1841 router for use in small out office. I will use the s0/0/0 for main WAN T1 connection. I then wanted to use the ATM0/1/0 WIC-1-ADSL card as a failover. I am using weighted static routes for failover. Fe0/0 is LAN interface. When I go into SDM and look at the ATM interface it says this configuration is unsupported?
1. Can't I just get a DSL modem and connect it to fe0/1 and not use ATM WIC and use below for failover? 2. If I have to use ATM WIC what needs to be configured for it to work with Att aDSL?
I'm having 1841 Router, its configuration is not getting safed. If I reboot the router all my running-config is like default. But when I check my sh startup all the configuration which I did is displayed. Checked the config-registery too and its 0x2142 changed too 0x2102 still the same problem, when reloading the router all the running config is disappeared.
my problem in configuring a cisco 1841 as VPN server using SDM, everytime i press Lunch Easy VPN Wizard botton, there were no response at all. my IOS is:
Cisco IOS Software, 1841 Software (C1841-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T15, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3) ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 12.4(13r)T, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) System image file is "flash:c1841-advipservicesk9-mz.124-15.T15.bin
by the way I took this IOS to other router with the same model(CISCO1841).
I'm trying to get a PPPoE config working on an 1841. Running c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-3i.bin . I tried c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.151-4.M4.bin but it has even less protocol options.
I used a walkthrough but it suggests the following fragment which doesn't work because there is no "protocol ppoe" command available on my system. Perhaps there is a simpler way to do this? I tried c1841-broadband-mz.151-4.M4.bin but it doesn't seem to have ssh available.
On new 1841 Testing Router, I deleted the flash & did the reload. After reloading, instantly I entered into the Rommon mode. I have a backup of the flash in my TFTP Server, which is connected to the 1841 Router. how can I restore my flash file into my 1841 Router. I can not get myself out of Rommon mode. I also now even can not ping the TFTP Server as well. Do I have to configure in the Rommon mode ?
how to restore the flash image via TFTP Server on my 1841 Router.
I have a Cisco 1841 router with an HWIC-ADSL module installed. My ADSL connection is PPPoA with a dialer interface and I have been provided 6 ip's from my provider to use on this service. Previously I have connected Fa0/0 on the 1841 straight onto my network and used NAT and ACL's on the 1841, I would now like to change this and have Fa0/0 connected to a Palo Alto firewall and use the Palo Alto to provide NAT, Firewall & site to site VPN functions. What config would I require on the 1841 to allow me to use one of my ISP IP addresses on the Palo Alto to allow it to be a VPN endpoint? Do I need to configure the 1841 in bridge mode?
I am trying to configure a Cisco 1841 to allow the users to access the internet. This is my first step with ppp. All the rest of the configuration is ok but I don't know how to setup the interfaces Dialer0 and ATM0/0/0.
Need very basic configuration that I can analyze and use on my device?
I have a Cisco 2125 Wireless Lan Controller and I have problem with hold coverage errors and I had tri different solutions with different antenna, the resume is:The antena gain 10*0,5 Dbi(Using a 5 Dbi antenna or 10 Dbi antenna) with Tx power 1 and the antenna gain 20*0,5 Dbi (using 10Dbi antenna) with Tx power 3 the coverage is the same.
If I try the configuration 20*0,5 gain antenna and Tx power 1 the controller show me one error and the controller don't permit this configuration. Why don't permit this configuration?
I would like to know if the power the Nexus 7K allocates per module is configurable? For example, we are only using the 8 didicated ports on our N7K-M132XP-12 card. The Nexus budgets 750W for the module, but given that we will only ever use 8 of the 32 ports we would like to allocate the remaining power elsewhere.
Any issues are reported while configuring power stack ? We did several times with 12.2.58SE1 and SE2, sometimes the power stack is created automatically, sometimes needs to be configured manually. Looks like the behavior is not the same. Maybe it depends on the number/type of switches and number/type of power supplies.
