I have a wireless network running with Controller WISM2 and I also have a NCS.I want to know if there is any way to look of individual log of CAPWAP and LAPWAP Access Points. It is better if I can see it through NCS.

The issue here is I cannot ping to the site but able to browse to that site when having internet access, i have permitted range the entire range of that IP's but still no luck..

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network.My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems.The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.
We setup some new CAPWAP AP 3602E in the network and configure the DHCP server option 43 , but the WLCs still cannot detect the APs , Do you know if there any new way to troubleshooting?

I´m looking to a project where we want to start using Autonomous AP with possibility to change to controller based on near future.
Will Cisco Aironet 1040 Series Access Points allow us to change from IOS to CAPWAP when needed? I read some posts about the oposite process (CAPWAP to IOS) so I think it´s possible on both way. Can some one confirm this to me?
We have had several APs disassociating from our controllers. The alerts say, Message: Access Point 'AP-xxxxx' associated to controller '10.x.x.x' on port number '0'. Reason for association 'Dot11g Mode Change. I have read several posts that point out that you should have QoS implemented to prioritize the CAPWAP traffic. I'd like to know if someone has implemented QoS and whether it has been successful in stopping the APs from disassociating. And if it has been successful do you have any configuration examples for the ports attached to the AP and controller as well as the QoS configuration?
We have several sites with AP1142's and 3500's. We have 2 5508 controllers. We are broadcasting 2 SSIDs of which one is in HREAP mode and the other is in local mode. Each of our sites have MPLS circuits.
Here is an example I found on Cisco which I believe can be used for CAPWAP as long as you change the ports to 5246 & 5247 instead of 12222 & 12223.

We have some new WISM2 running 7.0.116.0, but now we need to upgrade their license to suport 1000 APs. So I am looking at upgrading the software to 7.2.110.0. We are running WCS at the moment and got NCS with the new WISM2, so going to 7.3 and buying Prime Infrastructure is not an option at the moment, thus we are going for 7.2.
The thing is I can't seem to find much info about this upgrade. Is 7.0->7.2 a smooth upgrade? Do we need to do any configuration changes to the WISM2 or LAP1242? We are running H-REAP, will the change to FlexConnect be affected? I can't seem to find anything regarding requirements for 6500/SUP for running WISM2 7.2, do I need a certain software for that?
I had to reset my access point but the login screen fails to appear to lock the router. I don't have the setup wizard disk.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.
The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine!
The settings for the router have all been left to default.
I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.
Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.
I have an 1142 running capwap c1140-k9w8-tar.124-23c.JA4 that I am wanting to convert to an Autonomous AP.However, the AP does not seem to have an archive exec command to tftp downoad an new IOS.Is there another procedure that should be used ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm looking at the spec sheet comparing Cisco WLCs and I see that the 2504 has a bandwidth max of 500mbps. Just to be clear, not all of the traffic from the APs goes through the WLC does it? In this setup, the APs would be plugged into a PoE switch as well as the WLC. The only traffic to WLC would be the CAPWAP tunnel, CleanAir info, etc right? All other traffic should just be handeld at the switch right?Also, does the 2504 licencing include CleanAir in the price?

I am trying to configure two AP-management interfaces to accept CAPWAP on different ports using the option "Enable Dynamic AP Management". One of them uses public ip address. However, I getting the message "Ignoring discovery request received on non-management interface ..." on this.

Suppose i have a WISM2 with 7.0, 500AP license today and i activate WISM2-DP by upgrading to 7.2,Do i get 500 AP capacity for free (total 1000AP) or do i get 250APs on each WISM2-blade ?
If i get 500APs for free, why is Cisco selling an expensive licensed 1000 AP WISM2 ? I better buy a single-plane 500AP-WISM2 and upgrade it myself then...50% profit.
Is this the same for a WISM2-300 (supporting 300 APs) ?When i activate WISM2-DP here, do i get an extra 300 AP or an extra 500 APs ? Or 150AP on each blade ?
I having an issue with WCS and the new code 7.4 on my WiSM2 blade. When I try to refresh configuration from/to controller it fails. I just upgraded from 7.01 and it worked before the upgrade.
Is this not supported?
I am able to change configuration from WCS to the WiSM2 and it works fine just cant copy config.
I'm using Windows 7 I'm having problems disconnecting from individual wireless connections. When I click 'Disconnect' from the connection manager window in the bottom right corner of the screen, nothing happens at all. I've tried this on several different connections and none of them work. Scenario: 50 persons sitting in a hall with closely packed chairs using wireless simultaneously. Wireless access provided by patch antenna at a height of 11m from the user. As one AP can server 25 users, 2 APs are placed with antenna directions facing the compact users. Each users gets very good signal from these two APs.
Whether there will be serious interference and client association issues in this scenario? once one AP associates 25 clients, whether other 25 clients associate completely to other AP?
I understand that Cisco *wants* the APs to be directly connected to the new 3850.I have a few questions. Unfortunately, I think I know the answers. I just want to confirm.
a. When MA/MC is enabled on the 3850, does the 3850 start intercepting *all* CAPWAP packets it sees (much like CDP)? Even non-Cisco CAPWAP packets?
b. If I have a WLC 5500 upstream from the 3850, would APs hanging off a downstream 2960 be able to register to the 5500 through the 3850 when the 3850 is NOT in MA/MC mode?
c. If I have a WLC 5500 upstream from the 3850, would APs hanging off a downstream 2960 be able to register to the 5500 through the 3850 when the 3850 IS in MA/MC mode?

I would like to confirm if it is possible to downgrade AP 1042 from CAPWAP to autonomous? I want to buy the AP model AIR-LAP1042N-A-K9. But i don't sure if in the future it could support this feature.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just been setting up a WISM2 in a test lab and for some reason the Supervisor is not creating a port channel on my 6500 as suggested in the WISM2 Deployment Guide. WISM2 is installed in an appropriate slot (according to same doco) and have attempted reset to factory defaults, removing and power cycling several times.

(odd since the whole problem was not able to work across subnets), More important the new Code function / password function on the airplay wont work. Do i need to upgrade WISM1 to 7.2.111.3 before i export the configuration and import it into WISM2? Or can i just export the configuration from WISM1 on 6.0.199.4 and import directly to WISM2 which is on 7.1.111.3?
My company has been contracted to upgrade the 2 WiSM1 modules on a 6509 for a customer. The hardware isn't changing but the software is being upgraded to WiSM2. The cutsomer has HUNDREDS of AP's and dozens of VLANs and subnets (large municipality and school district).
Cisco SE's have been pushing the customer to purchase the WCS 7 software (they've been managing these Controllers independantly) stating there is no mechanism to upgrade WiSM1 configs to WiSM2. I am vaguely familiar with the cisco controllers but have little WiSM experience. So i feel like i'm working without a net here.
So,
1) Any way to migrate from 1 to 2 without the WCS and without having to reinvent the wheel?
2) How does the WCS make this transition easier? What does it do to the WiSM1 configs to make them WiSM2 compatable?
