Cisco Wireless :: 2504 Controller / 1602E - External Or Integrated Antenna For Better Coverage

Mar 24, 2013

I'm planning to use these with a 2504 controller.  However, I cannot find a straight answer on whether or not the External Antennas provide better coverage than the Integrated Antennas?  These will be wall mounted in a combo office/warehouse environment.  Also, I cannot figure out if the External Antennas are even included with the 1602E (AIR-CAP1602E-A-K9)?  or what if any power adapter/ injector is included with the AP's?

Cisco Wireless :: 1602e Effects Of Leaving AP Antenna Folded

Apr 28, 2013

We are deploying Aironet1602e AP's with the Aironet dual-band dipole antennas (air-ant-2524dw-r)  into a warehouse location with very low ceiling clearance.  To avoid head bumps and broken antennas, we are considering leaving the antennas in the folded position.  How much detrimental effect will this have on the signal strength and pattern?

Cisco Wireless :: CAP-1602E - External Antennas In Separate Rooms

Feb 14, 2013

I have a question about external antennas on an access point. I have to plan a wireles solution, that also includes coverage in the industrial freezers. The freezers are one part of the sotck rooms, so the general coverage will be done with 1602I access points.

Since there are quite a lot of freezers in one location, installing separate AP in every freezer will be very expensive. I wondered if there is a possibility to put one 1602 access point with external antennas outside the freezer and then extend the antennas with 2m cables inside different freezers (1602E has three external antennas, so one antenna to each freezer).

Would this installation even work?

The freezers are quite small rooms maybe 2-3m2 sow the coverage is not a problem. But does this installation support multiple clients per AP in different freezers doing stocktaking with handheld terminals?

Cisco Wireless :: AP 1240AG And External Antenna Configuration

Mar 19, 2012

I am setting and configure the Cisco AP 1240AG with 5GHz External Antenna extension. The whole product is called iWap. The problem now is that the wireless signal amplitude only can reach 3 bars instaed of ful 5 bars.

Few questions I have for this setup and configuration :

1. What is the default or original frequency of antenna of Cisco AP1240AG? Can a 5GHz antenna work with the AP 1240AG whereby it is run with 802.11a and 802.11g?

2. If 5GHz antenna can work with 802.11a or 802.11g, what is the setting or configuration needed to be done at the Cisco 1240AG? Or, no setting or configuration needed because it will automatically work by default?

Cisco Wireless :: 1142N / Internal Versus External Antenna Coverage

Mar 19, 2013

I have a few 1142N Aironets with internal antennas in place, and I am not thrilled by its coverage. I want to extend my wireless network because of a new building which led me to the following question; Is there is any difference in wireless coverage when using external dipole antenna’s (the small ones, for example the AIR-ANT2524 for a new 2600 Aironet) versus the internal (dipole) antenna’s. I am aware you have more options when using external antenna’s, such as omni, directional, outdoor etc.

For an indoor office or warehouse deployment, where temperature is not a concern, why would I buy for example the 2600E with 4 dipole antenna’s over  the 2600i?I have read most Aironet datasheets and their antenna options, but can’t find a word about the advantages of external dipole antennas. I would expect external antennas would give better coverage.. is this true?

Internet Slow When External Antenna Connected On Computer

Mar 22, 2011

I just realized that my internet is slow when my antenna is on top of my computer. I have a pci card with an external antenna connecting to it. If it's on top of my computer, my internet is slow, but if I move it three feet in front of it, it's fast. This makes me think that my computer is somehow blocking or conflicting with the signal. Is this normal, or is there something I can fix in my computer? Download speeds with the antenna on top are around 0.54Mbps, and if I put it as far away as I can, I get around 20Mbps.

Linksys Access Point :: WRT54G - Unable To Find Access Point In Home Network

Aug 29, 2009

I just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network. My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1.  My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems. The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.

I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390  but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold  from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.

The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.
