I have a Linksys WAG 120 N wireless router with an internal arial. I want to strengthen the signal to my laptop 2 rooms away as it keeps dropping out. Is it possible to change WAGGING from internal to external antenna to increase range/performance?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have WAG-120N ADSL Modem+Router which I am using for the last two years. Recently It has started taking about 2-3 minutes to show any sign of life after it is powered on. When powered ON no light comes up until 2-3 minutes. Then Internet light goes red for about 2 seconds then power light goes on followed by all lights then it starts booting normally i.e. Power light stars blinking, WiFi light blinking, power light stabilizes, DSL light starts blinking, WiFi light stabilizes followed by DSL & Internet. When ON it works perfectly alright until switched off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got a WAG120n but no ADSL connection at the moment, so I'd like to use the WAG as a basic wireless router to connect my desktop (via ethernet cable), laptop and Xbox 360 (both via wireless) - both the computers are running Windows 7.
I've tried all sorts of settings, including disabling DHCP, but it seems that as soon as I add any wireless security (have tried various options - WPA2, WPA, WEP) I can no longer connect - it generally tells me that the passkey is incorrect even though I've tried and retried several times with different keys etc. Am I missing something fundamental here?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just realized that my internet is slow when my antenna is on top of my computer. I have a pci card with an external antenna connecting to it. If it's on top of my computer, my internet is slow, but if I move it three feet in front of it, it's fast. This makes me think that my computer is somehow blocking or conflicting with the signal. Is this normal, or is there something I can fix in my computer? Download speeds with the antenna on top are around 0.54Mbps, and if I put it as far away as I can, I get around 20Mbps.

Few questions I have for this setup and configuration :
1. What is the default or original frequency of antenna of Cisco AP1240AG? Can a 5GHz antenna work with the AP 1240AG whereby it is run with 802.11a and 802.11g?

I want to extend my wireless network because of a new building which led me to the following question;Is there is any difference in wireless coverage when using external dipole antenna’s (the small ones, for example the AIR-ANT2524 for a new 2600 Aironet) versus the internal (dipole) antenna’s. I am aware you have more options when using external antenna’s, such as omni, directional, outdoor etc.
For an indoor office or warehouse deployment, where temperature is not a concern, why would I buy for example the 2600E with 4 dipole antenna’s over the 2600i?I have read most Aironet datasheets and their antenna options, but can’t find a word about the advantages of external dipole antennas. I would expect external antennas would give better coverage.. is this true?

This setup was working fine until I switched to “Linksys X3000” modem, external internet user can no more access my web pages.I had set the DMZ IP correctly in the new modem. The local LAN users can access the pages without any problem.
I'm planning to use these with a 2504 controller. However, I cannot find a straight answer on whether or not the External Antennas provide better coverage than the Integrated Antennas? These will be wall mounted in a combo office/warehouse environment. Also, I cannot figure out if the External Antennas are even included with the 1602E (AIR-CAP1602E-A-K9)? or what if any power adapter/ injector is included with the AP's?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased a Linksys WAG320N (firmware V1.00.12) to replace my old ZyXEL P-660H-D1.I've managed to set it up roughly the same in terms of the ports I want open and port forwarding, with one exception: I can enable a port to be forwarded to an IP address on my network, but I can't find anywhere to set it so that the port is only allowed from a specific IP address outside of the network, e.g.
Accept port [some number] from [some Internet address] into 192.168.1.2 but reject attempts from others.I thought it might be in Access Restrictions but that only covers internal IP addresses.
