There is a USB port on my DPC3827 gateway device, and I'm trying to figure out if/how I can share an external portable hard drive I've connected to it. It's formatted FAT32. There are no places in the admin pages to configure storage sharing options.

I have a Linksys ea3500 router to which I have connected a WD My Book external drive via the USB port. When I view the router's webpage, I can see my drive listed under the storage tab; however, I cannot map the drive on my laptop. Whenever I try to do so, it gives me the 0x80070035 error. If I run the Windows diagnostic, it tells me the drive will not accept the connection.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have realized that E4200 V1 I have, with 1.03 firmware, seems to be dying when I reboot it and it tries to load the USB HD I have connected to it. By die I mean the web server does not work anymore (http://192.168.1.1), and new computers can't connect to the router. I suspect it is due to the amount of files I have in the External Disk Drive -I used to have Media Server enabled, but I disabled it because this problem was happening, and I only left File Server enabled. Now since I moved many of my pictures to it, it seems even File Server is causing problems, and if neither one work for me, then this router does not justify its money, since that was the only reason I bought this E4200 hardware. These problems are solved in V2? Since it is still under warranty, I could try to exchange my V1 for a V2 version.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Linksys E4200 from bestbuy tonight, mostly for the feature of plugging my hard drive into it to use it as a media server, and being able to read & write to it from any computer on my network. I have searched for hours on end trying to fix my problem. I login to my router (at 192.168.1.1), I go to the storage tab, I then click the "Create Share" button next to my WD hard drive in the list and nothing happens. Ive tried this on four different computers, and three different browsers now to no avail.

Computer: Dell XPS 420
Router: Linksys E4200
Hard Drive: WD 1TB

The router is working fine in all areas, with the exception that I cannot get my PS3 to detect the shared USB drive that is connected to the router. The drive is detected /mapped on the connected Windows desktop, but files/folder/drive is not appearing on PS3. The PS3 is connecting successfully to the router, as I have a strong internet connection. I believed that the E3200 would be able to share the USB drive with my PS3 for media file streaming... Or have I not done something correctly in the settings?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had an Iomega 1TB External Hard Drive connected to my E4200 router. I had shares confgured and they were properly running on the network.
As of yesterday, this all stopped working. The router does not see the drive; it is as though it is not plugged in.
I rebooted the router and it still does not work. I've connected the hard drive directly to my PC to verify that it works there, and it does. The router is running Ver.1.0.03 (Build 14) of firmware (the latest).
I'm trying to make the server work for minecraft and I have the port number for the port which is 25565.I just need to know where exactly to enter this information. I also know that the protocol is supposed to be set for both tcp/udp.
So basically I guess my question is, where exactly do I put the port number if the one given to me was 25565?
I recently changed my wireless ADSL router to an X3000. One of the main reasons for doing so was its ability to share a disk drive on the network without having to have a computer powered on to host the drive. This has been working OK for a month or two, but now the drive keeps "disappearing".
What I mean is that when a computer tries to access it over the network, it gets a message that the network name cannot be found. If I then log into the router, under the Storage section, there are no drive details showing. I have rebooted the router, and sometimes this restores the situation, sometimes not. Sometimes I have to unplug and replug the USB cable, then do a reboot. The USB drive is a 500GB Western Digital FreeAgent Desktop drive. There is nothing wrong with the drive - if I connect it directly to a computer it all works fine. Typically it drops off overnight. We can be accessing the drive OK on a couple of laptops in the evening, then next morning, "network name not found". The router and the drive remain powered on all the time.
As I said it has worked OK for a month or two, now it appears flakey and very unreliable. This router takes a very long time to reboot, so having to do it often is painful.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with copying files onto my Storage device Connected to my WAG320N, the router is up to date with the latest updates and has been reset in an attempt to overcome this problem. I currently have attached a 2TB Seagate External Hard drive plugged directly into the router formatted in NTFS, and using Windows 7 Bit to access the Routers Webpage and the External Drive.
I am able to set up permissions and access control all okay, so some users can see some folders or have access in Read only or Read and Write Permissions, however I have been using the Admin account when accessing the drive which has Read and Write permissions to all Folders on the Drive. I can create a new document on the Drive (Right click > New > .Docx or .txt) and save file successfully and can view from other computers from the network, however I cannot Copy from any of the computers to the Network drive (e.g.. Copy .txt file from Computer to Network drive), I get the Windows Transfer Dialog and it Calculates Transfer Rate for a while before telling me it's unable to and that I can either select Try Again which comes up with the same error message, or Cancel the transfer.The reason why I want to be able to Copy files to the Network Drive is so I can centralise all the Photos, Videos and other files and documents to be shared to all computers on the network.

This setup was working fine until I switched to “Linksys X3000” modem, external internet user can no more access my web pages.I had set the DMZ IP correctly in the new modem. The local LAN users can access the pages without any problem.
I have a WAG160Nv2 and I want to block specific external ip addresses from trying to get at our server that uses the WAG160Nv2 as an internet gateway. It's not immediately obvious if this can be done from looking through the config pages.

Accept port [some number] from [some Internet address] into 192.168.1.2 but reject attempts from others.I thought it might be in Access Restrictions but that only covers internal IP addresses.
I have an Asus laptop that is about 6 months old. My husband has a MAC. Both computers are located in the living room and the wireless external drive is located in the office along with our wireless router and printer. I have no issues connecting to the router or printer, however it is extremely slow when I connect to the external drive if I can even get it to connect. View 11 Replies View RelatedI am not sure whether this is the right category to which I should submit my question, but I couldn't find a section for "other software support" or anything like that.I am running Windows SBS 2003 at one of my clients and we are using Syncback as the backup software to backup important files and folders that gets written to the server on a daily basis.Now we are using two external drives for this purpose, alternating the two every second day, for improved security.However...I have set up the backup profiles exaclty with the same configurations and everything...everything is identical. But the backup to one of my drives does not want to perform giving the error : "the folder on the destination drive does not exist and can't be created"The folder does exist though, and what puzzles me is that running the backup manually or even copying files manually from the same server backup folders to the drive works perfectly, but when running the scheduled backup, it fails...and yes, the logon and authentication is set to "run as administrator" and the username and password is entered correctly.Like I said, the configs of the two drives are exactly the same, and the backup to the other drive works perfectly.I am using the Syncback free version, and support for the free version on the 2Brightsparks website is unavailable
