I now have a shared drive shortcut on my desktop from the external drive I have hooked to the EA4500. Is there a way to share this folder to Android phones or Ipads? Looking to backup my phone data to the share (photos)

Transfer speed for sending or receiving files from a USB external HDD connected to the router is slow? Speed ranging from 2MB - 4MB/s. The HDD is definitely capable of at least 80MB/s if plugged directly into the PC. Is it meant to be this slow or there's a fix somewhere which I'm not aware of? Thought it's suppose to be the top of the line products but seems so inferior if I were to compare with other high end routers in the market which performs better, faster and definitely much cheaper.

I have a Linksys ea3500 router to which I have connected a WD My Book external drive via the USB port. When I view the router's webpage, I can see my drive listed under the storage tab; however, I cannot map the drive on my laptop. Whenever I try to do so, it gives me the 0x80070035 error. If I run the Windows diagnostic, it tells me the drive will not accept the connection.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a Sony 8gb usb drive plugged in and was working great with my smart tv and computer..... over last weekend i unplugged the drive and had to format it to my xbox moved what i need to and hen i formatted it back to ntfs the router wont recognize the usb drive. during this i also was facing this bad gateway error 502...i downgraded my router and now using the classic but i still get a non recognizable device error.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got an EA4500 and I really like it. I set it up with my printer, tested a few things and everything is working perfectly fine. The problem I'm having now is that when I plug a flashdrive to the USB I don't know how to access it. For some reason when I go to the settings under USB Storage it says "There is no drive in the USB Port". It tells me to click refresh but that doesn't seem to work.

I got my ea4500 all set up. never had a media servor or anything like that, figured this would be an easier way. when i hook up my exteral i can find it but i can only view the files in windows media player. how can i just browse the folders manually? WMP doesnt let me browse the folders as they actually are on the HDD which is such a pain in the **bleep**.
shows a device in "network infrastructure" but it says problem sending command to the program when i click that. i dont want to have to view the HDD in WMP as a media device...
trying to stream movies from the USB drive pluged into EA4500 using 3G or remotely. I got Media Server (DLNA) turned on and FTP Server setup. I also setup Dynamic DNS. I can managed to see the media server on iPhoto using WIFI connection with UpnPPeek. I'm wondering if it is possible that any iphone apps like Air Video can be able to stream movie remotely without turn on the computer?

View 3 Replies View RelatedEA 4500 seems to work fine. Have a Seagate 3 TB HD connecfed to USB. Have LG Smart box connected to EA4500 by Cat5e cable. HD hard drive contents shows and accesses ok on PC via wireless. Smart box showed HD but only media files in "documents" directory, did not show "TV" & "Movies" directories.
Reset Router Media Server Access with "TV" & "Movies" directories - presto LG smarbow showed directories now and worked fine. This morning will no longer show "TV" & "Movies" directories on Smart box. Have tried deleting and resetting Router Media Server Access with "TV" & "Movies" directories several times, no luck.
I have a E3000 and just upgraded my Mac with the OS X Mountain Lion. I can't access my external HD anymore, although when I go to the router set up, on the storage tab, the router appears to recognize the HD.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have realized that E4200 V1 I have, with 1.03 firmware, seems to be dying when I reboot it and it tries to load the USB HD I have connected to it. By die I mean the web server does not work anymore (http://192.168.1.1), and new computers can't connect to the router. I suspect it is due to the amount of files I have in the External Disk Drive -I used to have Media Server enabled, but I disabled it because this problem was happening, and I only left File Server enabled. Now since I moved many of my pictures to it, it seems even File Server is causing problems, and if neither one work for me, then this router does not justify its money, since that was the only reason I bought this E4200 hardware. These problems are solved in V2? Since it is still under warranty, I could try to exchange my V1 for a V2 version.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Linksys E4200 from bestbuy tonight, mostly for the feature of plugging my hard drive into it to use it as a media server, and being able to read & write to it from any computer on my network. I have searched for hours on end trying to fix my problem. I login to my router (at 192.168.1.1), I go to the storage tab, I then click the "Create Share" button next to my WD hard drive in the list and nothing happens. Ive tried this on four different computers, and three different browsers now to no avail.
Some random information:
Computer: Dell XPS 420
Router: Linksys E4200
Hard Drive: WD 1TB
I have mapped the attached hard drive to my EA4500 on my PC and can access folders and files on my LAN PC. However, when I come in through the Internet via an iOS device, I can see folders but when I try to enter the folder, all I get is a message that displays "|Folder|Enter Into Folder|Select|. There is no click-through capability other than "Return to Upper Folder", which takes me back to folders.
View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently purchased an EA4500 router and it is connected to the Internet. One of the reasons we purchased this router was to take advantage of the usb port (only 2.0 unfortunately) to be able to share media across the network. I spent over two hours on the phone (4/16/2012) with Linksys Tech support trying to get this feature to work. When using a little flashdrive I can easily find the connected usb device. However, when trying to connect to an external hard drive, it will not connect. I tried three different external hard drives, a Western Digital 500 GB Elements drive, a Western Digital 2 TB My Book Elements drive and even a portable 1.5 TB Seagate FreeAgent drive. Every drive had the same result. In fact after plugging each one into the EA4500 and then selecting Safely Eject and then plugging them into my computer, each one had to go through the Fix process in order to work again. I tried this several times. Linksys Tech Support could not get it to work either, and they even used remote access. When going into the web interface of the EA4500, the router sees the external drives attached to it. However, only the little 16GB flash drive can be seen by the computer. I know there is a list for approved devices that work with a different device, the E4200 [URL]
It looks like my devices are there but nonetheless its not working. Really not sure why the router can see all of the devices but only the computer can see the flash drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying map the USB hard drive connected to my EA4500 router as a network drive in Windows 7, and it works perfectly until I enable secure folder access on the router.
After enabling secure folder access, and not changing any other settings on the router I first unmount the drive since it was set up without credentials and doesn't work that way any more. When I try to remap the drive I use the same address, but select "Connect using different credentials" When it prompts me for the log in info I try using the router admin account, but it fails to connect. Windows network diagnostics tells me the device refused the connection. I proceeded to set up an account on the router under the folder access settings with the same username, and password I use on my computer, and tried to connect it without checking "Connect using different credentials" (And typing them in manually if that matters) with the same results.
Even with secure folder access enabled I can still reach the drive just fine by typing "ftp://192.168.1.1/" into file explorer. It prompts me for a username and password, I put in the admin credentials, and I'm in. Even the account I created with the same username/password as my computer works this way.
After disabling secure folder access everything works perfectly fine again... I would MUCH rather do this with it though.
Following these directions: [URL] When clicking the browse button the router shows up when secure folder access is disabled, but does not after it is enabled. I've looked through my windows sharing settings, and haven't noticed anything that should cause problems, pretty much everything is enabled. I've also tried turning off my firewall with no success.

As of yesterday, this all stopped working. The router does not see the drive; it is as though it is not plugged in.
I rebooted the router and it still does not work. I've connected the hard drive directly to my PC to verify that it works there, and it does. The router is running Ver.1.0.03 (Build 14) of firmware (the latest).
I have my USB HD mapped on my PC through my EA4500 router but, it will not connect automatically because, I think, it needs a password. (If I "explore" the mapped drive, it asks me for a password, then connection is fine, until my PC is rebooted.)Is there anyway of getting around this without leaving my HD unprotected? I am using the Smart Wi-Fi software for the router.

I have an EA 4500. Tonight I was trying to see what devices were connected. The window shows 0 devices connected, although about 20 devices are connected and working. When I click on "Devices Connected", I get the spinning wheel, and after multiple attempts by the application to list devices, I receive a message that the application does not work. I have the latest firmware installed. This is a recent issue. I have not made any changes to network configuration, nor to any of the devices that all have internet access. I will note that I did not set up a separate SSID for each band. But that did not seem to be an issue in previous months. I also cannot access the router ui from my windows 7 desktop. I can access the abbreviated ui through my Android phone. I tried connecting through smart wi-fi and by ip of the router. I just get the endless spinning circle of dots. I am running Windows 7 all up to date. All drivers are up to date.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a E3000 with a USB hard drive plugged into it. It works perfectly as a shared storage drive from all my computers. But as a Media Server it is not working. I purchased a Sony SMP-N200 Steaming Media Server that found all the PCs in the house and can stream music and photos fine. It does not see the shared USB drive connected to the E3000. Sony's web site says it uses DLNA to find and stream music and photos. It says Windows 7 is one example of DLNA When I go to DLNA.org and check to see what routers are DLNA compliant, it says the Cisco E4200 and E4200v2 is. Is Cisco going to make a firmeware upgrade to include DLNA for the E3000?

It also seems to randomly shuffle which devices to show as connected, even though several more than nine are connected and online. Does anyone else's device list limit itself to displaying only nine devices? The Linksys phone apps also display a maximum of nine devices. I like the routers new user interface and understand that it has received a lot of praise, however this is the second bug I've experienced in as many months (the first being a failure of the device list to update once devices are upgraded to Windows 8, requiring a reset to default settings in order to fix).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have several devices connected to my Linksys EA4500. Two of them are my Apple Mac Pro and my Logitech Squeezebox Radio. For some reason, in 'Device List', my Apple Mac Pro has the manufacturer 'Logitech' and the model 'Squeezebox Radio'. As for my Logitech Squeezebox Radio, it doesn't have a manufacturer nor a model. It appears that there is a mix up with these two devices. I have cross checked the IP addresses and MAC addresses displayed in Cisco Connect Cloud with those displayed on the devices and they match - so it's not a case of mixed up names. Could this be an issue with Cisco Connect Cloud?
