View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a cisco 7609-S router with the image sup-bootdisk:c7600rsp72043-ADVIPSERVICESK9-mz.122-33.SRD7.bin. Im getting above 95% cpu spike for 10 mins in every 2hrs of interval, after it has been integrated with Ciscoworks LMS version 3.2.1 and added this to HUM. In LMS the HUM polling has been configured for every 1hr to monitor the cpu and memory utilization.
I have gone through the below cisco document and I have configured all of the snmp-server view commands as illustrated in the below website.[URL] After configuring the same, now we are observing the cpu spike every 4 hrs or i would say 5 hrs... I have checked all the settings of ciscoworks LMS and there is absolutely no other jobs are running in the day time... The spike comes every 4 hrs.
we have a pair of 7609 routers working in Active Standby mode. The version of routers are :- Cisco IOS Software, c7600rsp72043_rp Software (c7600rsp72043_rp-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.2(33)SRD4, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)
Quiet frequently we are getting High CPU load problems on our router and this load comes down below 10 % automatically.
I am attaching the Show tech support for your kind consideration.
Similar issue was reported yesterday as well for which i have attached SH tech suppot.
Today I've received reports of slow internet access/activity and have noticed myself that it seems a bit slow today. On the dashboard of our asa 5510 the "outside interface" traffic usage is running constantly high. It's at the top of the graph. How can I tell what is causing the spike in utilization. It usually runs at about 1500-2000 Kbps, and now it's up over 10,000.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe installed a solution with 2 Cisco 2801, BGP multihomed failover.
1) The router which is currently getting all the traffic gets to 55% to 60% of CPU usage when handling 40 SIP/RTP streams . This equals 10Mbit up/10Mbit down and it showed around 5800 packets TX and around 5800 packets RX, with a majority of them CEF switched. As those figures are way less than the performance figures published by Cisco, we wonder if we made any mistake in setting up our router, or if we can do something to improve the router setup.
2) Does it have an impact on router performance if we increase/decrease RTP packet size, thus increasing or decreasing the pps relative to the consumed bandwidth?
3) If it is not possible to improve router configuration, we also wonder about possible replacement units for those routers. Would a 2901 do a good job? By how much would it rise the capacity? What other models would you recommend if we plan to rise the number of concurrent calls by a factor of 4 or even 8 times of what we have now (so up to 48000 pps and 80Mbit).
Here is what we tried:
- ip route-cache same-interface does not seem to improve anything
- ip flow ingress on or off makes no difference
- disabling the inbound ACL on fa0/0 seems to reduce load by 10%, although I don't understand why - a very high percentage is CPU interrupts, and ACLs are process switched, or not?
- we tried following the Cisco guide for high CPU due to high interrupts, with no success
Here are some usage statistics:
The graphs that we plot via SNMP show a propotional growth/increase of CPU and bandwidth (and thus pps) At the highest loads, we had a bit more than 55% CPU utilization with more than 50% interrupt CPU.
CPU utilization for five seconds: 36%/30%; one minute: 30%; five minutes: 30%

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a scenario with 2 7609s connected through a MPLS service with 10 GE. In each7609 we have a 24 port channelized T1 Circuit Emulation Over Card.
The requirement is in 2 parts. First, we need to provide a T1 emulation service between the 2 7609s T1 cards.
The second requirement is that in one end there is an OC3 port, so the customer wants to send the traffic from this emulated T1 onto the OC3.
I am currently setting up a new VRF on a Cisco 7609 which is advertising (as a RR-Client) an iBGP route to a Juniper MX960. This route is then getting sent back to the default route table on the 7609 but rejected due to the cluster-id loop prevention. Although not ideal I need this route to be visible in both tables. Is there a way of changing the bgp cluster-id per VRF rather than just globally?

I have to upgrade a router this week if there is an opportunity to move it to a code that is more current that the one the client is currently running which is 12.2(33)SRD4. Yesterday, myself and local support team has been engaged to perform troubleshooting the issue of some web site accessing .Mos of this case is cased by MTU issue, So, I've tried to configure the following configuration on interface tunnel 0.Device: Cisco 7609 with IOS s72033-adventerprisek9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF8.bin
I've tried to figure out what the supporting command after 'ip tcp' in tunnel 0 and following likes..ip tcp ?compression-connections Maximum number of compressed connectionsheader-compression Enable TCP header compression.there is no such command about 'ip tcp adjust-mss.So, my questions is that what is the replace command for 'ip tcp adjust-mss' ? Is this only support on Router? such as Cisco 7200. or not, to take effect same functional on C7609, what is the command for that?

For example, "show ip route 192.168.1.1" and "show ip cef 192.168.1.1" shown correct next-hop is 10.1.1.1, but the traffic destine to 192.168.1.1 actually not through 10.1.1.1, but always through the default route next-hop. Everything works normal after rebooted the router. Suppose it should caused by a bug? BTW, my Cisco7609 is runing BGP with ISP which received about 10K routes.
Cisco 7609 Router, Enable password unable to reset.
Many times CTRL+BREAK Key combination while booting the router does not takes the console to ROMMON.
Router boots using the IOS image in the bootdisk0: (For entering into the ROMMON, removed both the external Flash disks also - no use)
2 or three time in a day it enters in to the ROMMON while pressing CTRL+BREAK.
Tried in the ROMMON (one Sup is removed) with confreg 0x2142 followed by reset/boot commands, the router is booting with the startup config.

We have Cisco 7609 routers in our network. We are using ppp multilinks between the sites. Because of the high traffic volume, we have to use multiple multilinks. 7609 router doesn't allow ppp multlink to span SIPs, so we use multiple mulitilinks between sites on different SIPs. OSPF for load balancing will be used. THE PROBLEM IS: when we define the second ppp multilink between two 7609 routers, the new multilink stays "inactive". Can we use multiple multilinks to the same router? We have enabled the command IP CEF DISTRIBUTED, but we still face the same problem". IOS used is: 122-18.SXF6
