Cisco :: WIPS Enhanced Local Mode Configuration WCS 7.0.172.0?

Oct 4, 2011

I have followed these guides for setting and have enabled this feature.  Works great too. The only issue I have is the last step to in the deployment guide is to disable the controller based IDS signatures.  I would like to be able to do this via a template in WCS.  I have found where to do this via WCS controller webpage and also the controlller itself, but I'm looking for a way to push this change all at once.  I have 26 wlcs so it would be nice to just do it once and apply to all of them. Cisco Wireless :: 1252 - Does WIPS Mode Access Point Utilize More Bandwidth

Aug 1, 2012

I have around six number of Cisco 1252 Access Points on HReap mode and wIPS submode in one particular location. This was implemented more than six months and it was working fine. Suddenly, I faced Network conjestion and more bandwidth utilization in that location in particular. But, after disabling the wIPS in the AP, The bandwidth got stable and working fine. Not sure, if wIPS will utilize more bandwidth..

Does this will be anywhere related to the RF Heat maps that Cisco NCS will generate? As there is no map uploaded for that location, Will this cause an issue?

Cisco :: AIR-CT5508-50-K9 - WIPS Deployment Over WAN / HREAP

Jun 28, 2010

I have this  Wireless deployment :

Main Site: WLC AIR-CT5508-50-K9
WCS 6.x for 50 APs
(32 ) AP 1140

02 Remote Sites :  03 AP 1140 using H-REAP

Now, my company is considering to implement a wIPS solution, so  i planned to install in the Main Site a MSE3300 and (01) AP 3500e as a wIPS AP Monitor in the remote sites,

Need to confirm:

A) Can an AP3500 work with HREAP and as wIPS monitor AP at the same time?  or in other words, if it is possible to have  an AP wIPS monitor far away from the WLC (over the WAN)?

B) What are the requirements of WAN link if I want to install a Centralized MSE 330 Engine, which perform the wIPS solution in all the network.

Cisco Wireless :: AP 1552 Is Equivalent Of Local Mode?

Jun 24, 2012

I found this sentence in 1552 AP guide."AP1552 comes only in the Bridge mode and the mode cannot be changed. A mesh access point performs CleanAir function and also serves clients on the assigned channel similar to the way the Cisco Indoor CleanAir AP3500 (nonmesh mode) operating in LMAP mode serving clients on its assigned channel. The mesh AP also monitors the spectrum only on that channel."We want to use this AP as a local AP ( not for mesh deployments) and serve our wireless clients. The main thing why we need this is just operating temperature. Is it good choice? Does it will function as "normal" local AP or we will have any problems , because of that "mesh" mode?

Cisco :: After Upgrade WISM To 7.0.116.0 / Local Mode APs Will Not Download Image

May 25, 2011

I upgraded my WISM software to v. 7.0.116.0. The upgrade went smoothly. Most of my WAPs are H-REAP and they are working fine. I have a few local mode WAPs that are stuck in a downloading state. They will try to download, reboot, then try to download again. This is happening only with the WAPs in local mode. These WAPs were working before the upgrade.

Local Area Connection Does Not Have Valid Ip Configuration?

Mar 12, 2012

I had my computer hooked up to the internet thru a wireless adapter and it broke so trying to hook it up thru a direct connection Ethernet cord into my router but its not working been giving me a couple answers to the problem one being that the local area connection doesn't have a valid up configuration and one other that hasn't popped up recently for me to write down but I've been searching all kinds of forums and trying all the usual problem fixers but I don't have a disk to reboot my operating system or anything and can't restore to previous settings cause the person I bought it from had it set to not make a back up recovery file I was thinking it might have something to do with the wireless adapter being installed but I can't find anywhere to uninstall that or change my settings off of a wireless adaptor situation... What should I do?

Local Area Connection Doesn't Have A Valid IP Configuration - Windows 7?

Aug 1, 2012

So I built a PC recently, using Powerline for Internet access. At first the PC wouldn't connect to the Internet so I moved the wireless router and the Powerline plug into another room and plugged them directly into the wall socket (previously they were plugged into an extension lead). I got Internet access on my PC, but 2 laptops and another PC were having trouble connecting to the Internet using Wi-FiWhen I moved the router and Powerline plug back to their original place, my PC wouldn't connect again (all other computers could) and I got the "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration" error from the network troubleshooting tool.So it's either I'm the only one that does get Internet when I move the router, or I'm the only one that doesn't get Internet when the router's in its normal place.[CODE]

Gateway SX2803 - Local Area Connection Does Not Have A Valid IP Configuration

Mar 1, 2012

This is the message I get when diagnosing my hardwire connection to the internet. I just got this computer yesterday and it worked find. I allowed it to implement all the windows updates during the afternoon. I don't recall if the hardwired connection stopped working after all the updates occurred. Today, when I started up the computer, there is no hard wire internet connection. The computer has a wireless connection option and fortunately that works. I called tech support and they said they would just send me a refund, thinking it's the network card. But, the tech seemed not to have much knowledge or interest in trying to fix the problem. I uninstalled the adapter in device manager and let it reinstall itself. It says its working properly.

WRT54GC Local Area Connection Doesn't Have A Valid IP Configuration

Jan 9, 2012

I have a WRT54GC Router with 4 Windows 7 (all Home Verions)PCs.3 were running hard wire LAN, one notebook I was using wireless.I logged into the modem to change my security settings.I no sooner tried to save a password change, when the router locked up.I lost all internet connections. Did the normal reset modem, reset router, reboot, etc thing.Bottom line, I took out the router, and have just an 4 port switch connected to the modem. One desktop PC off of the switch still connects. On all other 3 PCS, I get the dreaded "Local Area Connection Doesn't Have a Valid IP Configuration."It's not a switch or cable problem. I connected my notebook via LAN to the same cable as the one PC that still connects, no luck.I've tried the ipconfig/release and renew, no luck. On the notebook, I even did a restore to a point about 3 weeks ago, no luck. Then today reinstalled the O/S.

Cisco VPN :: 6500 Mode Configuration / Address

Jul 17, 2011

In an IPSec port to DUT scenario, with Mode-Config set so as the DUT sends the IP address to the port, I get to a situation in which the DUT continuously enter the "Need config/address" state for the port, even if the port sends its ACK packet to every set IP address from the DUT.

The DUT is a Cisco 6500 Version 12.2 (33) SXI3, having Mode-Configuration configured to provide clients with IP addresses from a local pool. I enabled the "debug crypto isakmp" on Cisco, and below is an extract form the log file:

5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653):Need config/address      /* My comments here: This is the first Address configuration message from Cisco to port */
5d23h: ISAKMP: set new node 1768971286 to CONF_ADDR
5d23h: ISAKMP: Sending private address: 94.94.0.164
5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653): initiating peer config to 171.159.1.113. ID = 1768971286
5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653): sending packet to 171.159.1.113 my_port 500 peer_port 500 (R) CONF_ADDR
5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653):Input = IKE_MESG_INTERNAL, IKE_PHASE1_COMPLETE
5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653):Old State = IKE_P1_COMPLETE  New State = IKE_CONFIG_MODE_SET_SENT

above debug messages that Cisco produces I can not realize why Cisco resends the IP adderss configuration message for remote peer. Any other methods to use so as to get the reason behind this behavior? Or any explanation to the above behavior?
