View 2 RepliesLast week I purchased the E4200 and for simplicity, I configured it with basic settings using Cisco Connect. Today, I went into the web interface. The only thing I did was review settings and get the Routers PIN (it appears that Intel Chipset cards on Windows requires this PIN?) Close the browser (did not save any settings) and now I am completely locked out of the device. Cannot connect does not accept the wireless password. I hard reset the device, ran through the wizard. Everything was working again. Launch the browser and connected to the device closing window and balm?

The issue that I am having is that the network cable I have that going from my router to my desktop computer, seems to be flaky, at least it seems that way...When I try to use the network cable that goes into this desktop, into another computer(one that I know works), the connection status alternates between connecting, and no network cable detected, connecting...and no network cable connected, and so forth.it NEVER connects. When I plug the cable back into the desktop, it does the same thing for maybe a minute, but then eventually connects. However, every other computer, laptop, macbook, another desktop PC, that I have tried connecting using this same cable never connects.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe network card in my PC supports 1Gbit ethernet, my 2TB NAS also supports 1Gbit ethernet, however both of these are currently run through a 100Mbit cable modem/router thus reducing the connection speed. I was wondering if I purchased a 1Gbit switch and connected all my devices directly into that, then connected it into the cable modem, would the PC communicate with the NAS directly via the switch or would it go through the cable modem?

Ambit U10C018 send light not working. All other lights indicate proper functions. Usb not in use or connected. Enet, power, ready, receiving and sync all appear to be working properly. Have rebooted both modem and computer countless times, replaced Ethernet card (DFE-530TX+(Rev f), checked cables, all appear normal. Suddenlink service, cable guy didn't locate problem (didn't try very hard either).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to upgrade the switches in one of the buildings to Gigabit HP ProCurve switches. Currently, this building has 3 wiring closets, and each closet has 2 Intel Standalone 460 switches (24 ports). We use them as simple Layer 2 Switches. Nothing fancy. We recently bought 3 48 port HP Procurve Gigabit switches.I was planning on going in and swapping the 2 Intel Switches out with the HP Procurve Switches. The first closet went fine, and we had immediate connectivity (servers, Internet, etc.). However, when I went to the second closet I found that I could not connectivity back to the first closet.I then noticed the patch cable going from Closet A to Closet B is terminated with a female connection on both end. And then a patch cable is connected from the end, to the switch at both sites. I have never seen this before. And I hope I am making sense. Why would this method work with the old Intel switches (that are close to 10 years old) and not with the HP?

Both cables work great from the router to my Thinkpad PC, and both work through the same port on the router. on my xbox the 10 foot cable works immediately when I hook it up to my xbox. View 3 Replies View RelatedModel: Linksys CM100 Cable Modem, purchased December 2010
Modem goes dead immediately after 3rd light goes solid. All lights go out and the modem stops functioning completely. Using the reset button gives no response, the modem stays dead. Upon unplugging and plugging it back in, the modem turns back on and cycles through the lights, only to die out once again.I was initially able to get it to stay alive by starting it with the Ethernet cable disconnected then plugging it in once the modem had connected, which I found odd. After a relatively short period, say 20 minutes, the modem would randomly die out again. However even that has since stopped working.
I have recently bought a WAG320N modem Gigabite router to substitute the modem router supplied by the internet service provider (in theory less performant).
Formerly I have a wireless router Zyxel (MOD. P660HW-D1). The main computer is wired (connected trough ethernet), I have also a NAS device (WD mybook world 1TB with Twonky as server) wired and a third wired connection for the above mentioned PLK 300. The PLK 300 (4 Inputs and one output) is used to connect a TV (Sony BRAVIA) a Bluray (SONY) a PS3 (Sony) and a multimedia HD (DVICO). All this was working properly. I have internet access from TV, PS3,... I was able to run videos, photos,... stored in the NAS from TV,....
I decided to change for improving the transfer speed and to allow a better wireless connection (I have initially coverage problems, but because I only use the wireless rarely...).Initially I bought a Linksys E 3000 (I thought it was possible to connect it directly to internet and not trough a modem. I asked to several people and in several shops but no one told me this was not possible). That was my first failure: I would like to suggest the liknsys people to clearly explain this on the product sheet to avoid that not very well informed people like me commit the same error.
Then I chaged the E3000 by the WAG320N. I connect the new modem-router like the former (Zyxel). No room for big errors, just the power, DSL line and ethernet cables. It works for the PC and the NAS but the PLC (PLK300) do not appears to work. Several tries later (including plugin the PLK on the line 1 input of the router it is shown on the network map but do not work. I do not have access to the internet nor to the NAS contents form TV,....
I go back to the former router and everything works again in the simplest way (I have internet access form TV,...) except the Twonky access to the NAS from TV ¿?. I do not know exactly what I have changed,...)
I buy WAG160n wireless-n adsl2+modem router with wire it works but it not connect without wire and i cant connect internet through my pc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAt work we have an existing wireless network with with a lot of wireless pc's and devices connected to it.. We want to however connect 2 desktop pc's to the same network so that they have internet access also. These 2 desktops have been connected to the wireless router via wireless dongles, but due to some office arrangements we have to move them to a different office in the building where there is network ports available.I plugged in a D-Link 5-port Gigabit desktop switch to the network point in the office the 2 desktop pc's are moving to and tested it with my laptop (with wireless disabled) to see if everything is working. The LAN seems to be working fine, but when I want to connect to the internet.. it seems something is wrong.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAlthough I haven't looked through all the forum topics I couldn't find anything very similar to my situation. I have a rather large house and my modem/router (Netgear DGND3300 v2 due to DSL) is in the very corner. Given this most of the opposite corner of my house gets either poor or no connection; however, I do have an ethernet cable run across the house through the basement to my home theatre setup. This is where I encounter another problem, I need multiple devices to be connected via ethernet and I also need to have wireless in that same area. In my mind I picture myself connecting a second router to this ethernet cable through which I could have wired connections to all my devices, and a second router broadcasting wirelessly. I'm familiar with some types of wireless bridging, but I'd rather use more of a wired bridge concept if possible, but I've never really seen something like this. The question is, is this possible? Or, what is another possible way to achieve the same results? The only other thing I can think of is to run an ethernet hub from the original wired connection to my home theatre so I can connect multiple ethernet devices and run a separate wireless extender or something, but this just seems pricy.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave had ADSL installed through a router, connected the wireless router and it works fine Have since connected the original router via -120mtrs of CAT5 cable to extend to the house. Connection through LAN is fine into desktop however the minute we try to connect an additional wireless router the connection fails. We have even put the LAN from the second Wireless into the desktop and there is no connectivity. We have had a technician come to sort the problem, they advise that they have no explanation as to why the LAN works from the distance but the wireless does not. They have suggested that we need to cut the CAT5 half way and put an antenna up to connect the two routers.
